The latest in the Ticket to True Love series gives us a story about grieving and loss, and forgiveness of past mistakes.
Caroline Murphy has been grieving the loss of her husband for almost 2 years. During that time she was barely surviving, choosing to just shut herself off from the world still living inside the condo she and her husband have lived in before his death. The only people she interacted with was her best friend Neve and her daughter Bella and Neve's mom. Neve finally having enough of Caroline wasting away in grief pushes her friend to drive from Florida to True Springs, Pennsylvania to deliver something to Neve's ex-husband's Grandfather. Once in True Springs she comes across a brochure for a dude ranch in Montana which peeks her interest and she decides to head that way.
Sam Black's family runs the Black Hills Ranch. He used to live quite the wild life and had a reputation was a ladies’ man. All that changed one night when being distracted by one of those ladies led to fire on the Ranch that he has never forgiven himself for. He has since thrown his life into just running the business and staying far away from women. This has given him a surly disposition even more compounded with the recent mauling of his best friend by a bear due to a clients negligence while they were out on the trail.
Caroline and Sam had no idea how much they needed the other both emotionally and physically to heal from their past pains. But to truly start the healing process they both need to put the past behind them and only one is open to do that. Can they both open their hearts to second chances and forgiveness?
Miami Meets Montana has everything you read romance for!
There’s a deeply desperate heroine and a much-needed dare. There’s a cowboy and a ranch and a long buried secret. Caroline needs love in her life, but she’s not ready. Sam needs Caroline, but he’s not willing to take a chance.
You’ll fall in love with both of them in this small town western romance about family, forgiveness, and second chances. Miami Meets Montana has all the emotion of a sweet romance with all the steam you crave. Make sure it’s the next thing you read.
This was such a good romance book. Caroline lives in Miami, but hasn’t really lived since her husband died about two years ago. I was glad to see she had such a good friend in Neve that Neve pushed her into finally leaving her condo in Miami. Of course it wasn’t something Caroline wanted to do. I loved Neve and her daughter Bella. I think that is what kept Caroline sane. It was interesting how she made it to Montana. Little did Caroline understand that Sam’s reputation as a stud was a sore point when she first met him at the ranch she was lookin for. It was lucky for Caroline that she had met one of the women’s sisters that worked on the ranch since the season was over and they were not taking anymore guests. Sam was not happy when he found out Caroline had stayed the night at the ranch. I am sure Caroline was as surprised as Sam when she asked Sam for a job. This was the beginning of Caroline’s healing. Caroline and Sam both hold guilt about something in each of their pasts. The two will need to get over their individual guilt to ever make it as a couple. I loved the book and it touched my heart. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
Another story with the special effects, some say magical, of the waters of True Springs, but in a completely different part of the country. The pain and numbness of loss and subsequent grief are confronted from the very beginning, the guilt of the survivor augmented into something close to despair. A change in environment, here, is quite the radical treatment, and a trip to drink the special waters of True Springs thought up by a best friend using a ruse only the start. Of course, with the special matchmaking qualities of these special waters, instant visceral attraction is present, but the denial of it, by the two main characters, because of their issues, is described with great sensitivity. Tears may flow, at several points, so keep the tissues nearby, but solid inner strength and smiles in the rugged open spaces of the Big Sky country, Montana, are healing. Standalone with a HEA with a lead-in to the next story, but no cliffhanger.
A wonderful story of two individuals letting the past control their lives. Caroline Murphy is bogged down with grief and guilt. Her best friend pushes her out of her exile to find life again. Sam Black has a reputation as a lady's man. He hates it. He also suffers from guilt and swears off connecting with women on ranch property. Their attraction ignites. Can they get over their grief to love again? The plot flows smoothly, and the characters are well-developed. I love this author and the series.
Ummmm talk to me Sam. Even with the loss Caroline has endured (she is a widow) I would switch places to meet Sam. Heart palpitations with this studley wounded soul taking the world (aka his family) on his shoulders. I will admit I wanted to reach through the pages and smack him a time or two but I think Neve, her mom and his family handled him well. I loved the family vibe from Sams family, their warmness and their acceptance of all. Caroline's friend Neve brought tenacious with love to the extreme. I felt the anguish when Sam shared his burden that he has been carrying. This book comes to life, envelops you and places you between the pages. Well done JB Schroder! Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions and so am ready for Neve's story - hint, hint.
If you've ever felt like you need to start over ... with a job or in a relationship, etc. ... this book will give you courage and inspiration. Definitely one of JB's best! Caroline's loss of her husband and her guilt over how he died have paralyzed her from moving forward with her life, but after 2 years, a friend kicks her out of her safe zone which starts a spiral that has Caroline trying new things, making new friends AND (shockingly!) finding herself attracted to Sam. The attraction is mutual, but can't move forward due to a promise Sam made to himself years ago. The insights and wisdom JB shows through her characters gave me "food for thought" about the choices we all make and how we learn from the outcomes. Excellent!
You fall in love with the characters right off the bat, Caro starting a new adventure, Neve being such a good friend, and most of all Mr. Montana :) JB Schroeder is a great writer~I have read all of her Ticket To True Love books in addition to her Romantic Suspense books, Runaway, Unhinged, Uncovered, Undone, etc. Well done JBS. Can’t wait for what’s next!
This book is amazing. I love the mixture within of all of the different people. Can't wait to hear what happens to Neve and Carter as well as Ruby. That's how good it is!
Fully enjoyed the story! I felt so bad for our main female character and honestly thought Sam was an a**hat. I truly loved the characters and how so many from the other books were brought back
