The Olivet Discourse Decoded: To understand end-times prophecy, you need to know the fulfillment of Messiah’s Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21
Matthew records that Messiah pointed to “this generation” ten times. In the final time, Messiah said, “Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” Matthew 24:34The nine previous mentions are pointing to the Jews who opposed Messiah. Are we to believe that the tenth time that He described “this generation,” that He is pointing to the end times? No!The context of Messiah's Olivet Discourse is the desolation of the temple that He was just in when He rebuked the Jews and said, “Verily I say unto you, all these things shall come upon this generation.”All of the things that Messiah described from Matthew 23:36 to Matthew 24:33 were fulfilled by 70 AD when the Romans desolated Jerusalem, the temple, and the Jewish nation. The enemy has deceived people about the symbolism of the sun, moon, and stars being darkened; Messiah coming in power and glory; and the elect being gathered into the kingdom. But the Bible gives the proper definitions for the symbols. We need to take Messiah at His Word and look at how the things that He described were about the Jewish nation, for their punishment of continuing their rebellion against the Father, for delivering Messiah up to be killed, and for persecuting His disciples. The Olivet Discourse is directed related to the 70th Week of Daniel 9, which I cover in my previous book, which says that the city and temple will be desolated because of the abominations of the Jews.If you're seeking for truth, and not to defend a belief, this book will prove out the fulfillment of Messiah's Olivet Discourse. It will help you see that it's not about the end times so that you're not misled about the fulfillment of Revelation, as we await Messiah’s promised return.
Absolute must read for the discerning mind! I have read all three of David's Decoded Series books. I have also read all the reviews posted. The vast majority of them are positive and from people who have had their eyes opened. The few negative reviews have ranged from assessments that he "stretches explanations of scripture" to "total heresy", where the person making that comment claimed that they tore up the book and threw it in the trash where it belongs. Not at all "Berean-like" in their search for truth.
Everyone brings "pretext" to any opportunity to learn. It is our current level of knowledge and understanding. The challenge is to truly depend on that Holy Spirit to "guide us in all things." Our mind must inform our will so it can control our emotions and prevent them from overriding simple truth. Satan attacks our emotions (the heart) because "the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, who can know it? " (Jer 17:9). We are encouraged to be "...transformed by the renewing of our mind..." (Rom 12:2). The battle is always between the mind, where the Holy Spirit works, and the heart, we're Satan works.
Revelation is a pre-written history provided by Jesus. We must absolutely use all of scripture to understand the language used to describe this pre-written history. However, the only place we will find validation of this pre-written history is outside of scripture. There is no other scripture after Revelation! So, we must use history to validate the pre-written history.
Some will arrogantly (yet so foolishly) make the claim that all they need is scripture to understand Revelation. The problem with that is that they become, " speculators, who, running away with isolated and mysterious expressions, indulge in imaginations of their own and become prophets, instead of students of divine prophecy."
Read that quote again and think long and hard about it! Use your God-given common sense (the Holy Spirit) as you continue your search for truth. The person who tore the book up and threw it in the trash was simply declaring to the world that they were too lazy to search out the truth, and that they did not trust the Holy Spirit to "guide them in all things."
Extremely detailed and backed by centuries of faithful ministers of the Word of God. I have always had a futurist view of scripture and have scratched my head quite a few times while glancing briefly at someone's view of the Olivet Discourse. Now, I am fully convinced that is has been fulfilled as stated thoroughly by the author. I am usually left with an abundance of questions, but with this book only a few. I will be moving forward immediately with the Revelation timeline decoded book that follows this one.
I had to come with an open mind, because of what I was taught about the 70th weeks of Daniel. The book answered a question that I head where the Lord says, that some of the people standing here would not see death until this had been fulfilled. I’m disgusted that I have been misled. I thank the Holy Ghost for continuing to teach me the word of God. I highly recommend that believers read this with an open mind.
Wilcoxson does a great job of explaining and documenting what Christians have believed about Jesus, his kingdom, and where it all leads. Should be required reading for every Christian in training. Great book!
