Claire Sullivan is back in her rural hometown in New York after being fired from her job in Manhattan. Claire's never loved Christmas, but this year is by far the worst. She'd been living beyond her means in New York City, spending every penny she'd earned. The affair she'd been having with her boss wasn't nearly as discreet as she'd thought, so without a job and any savings, Claire was back home, helping out at her parent's bar. This was not where she thought she'd be at 31 years old. After spending the last seven months grieving her mother's sudden death, Emma Cole is ready to return to her normal life. As much as Emma loves Christmas, she knows this year is going to be tough. That's why she goes out of her way to put herself out there and have some fun. The annual Christmas tree lighting down at Sullivan's Bar was a night she'd never missed, and as difficult as it was, Emma made herself get dressed up and go out for a few drinks with her best friend. At 48, Emma had written off meeting that perfect woman. She'd even convinced herself that she just didn't exist, but when Claire introduces herself to Emma, it's hard to resist the younger woman's charm. Sparks fly, but is that chemistry enough to overcome their differences?
Definitely more of a semi-erotic read from kindle unlimited for Christmas. About an hour and a half.
The sex scenes are steamy, but for me the emotional connection wasn't there or believable, and TBH even the likability of the main, Claire and her pitiful attitude was kinda off-putting for me.
I didn't really buy the HEA. But everyone's different. There's an age gap if that interests anyone. Emma is 48, Claire is 31. (Claire had previously been having an affair with her married 50 year old boss, so she has a 'type'.)
Another short age gap Christmas romance by Carol Wyatt. Emma is older at 48, still grieving her mother and keeps away from relationships following a failed one 10 years ago but a night out with her best friend at the bar has her chatting with the bartender, Claire. There's an instant chemistry between them and since Claire is only in town temporarily after being fired from a previous job, they agree to do things casual, only to discover later on that both would like more.
I like their chemistry and found this book to be really sweet. And while there isn't much romantic build up given the length of the book, it was still quite enjoyable.
Great age gap romance in true Carol style. Claire never expected to find love when she returned home. Emma is just trying to start living again after losing her mom. Once they meet sparks fly and they have amazing chemistry. Claire had a thing for older women and Emma fears the age gap. Winter magic is on their side.
It’s a bit late as it is the New Year already, but I enjoyed this Christmas age-gap love story. It wasn’t very deep, had no angst and was short, but it also was a very nice holiday read, exactly right for a free weekend just after Christmas.
This one gave me all the smiles. A lawyer returns to her small town after losing her job in NYC. This is a really perfect age-gap romance with holiday cheer and some very hot scenes between the MC’s.
I loved this story and the way it unfolded with a need two people had to replace hurt in their lives. Claire really needed a reality check and got just that. Her life was out of control not really ever finding her rhythm. Emma having had a rough breakup earlier in her life was dealing with the holidays with the loss of her Mom. The two fulfilled a need in each other but neither wanted to admit that they were feeling so much more. Knowing they felt good with each other but couldn’t commit to admitting they needed to be with each other. I loved this coupling and really would have loved a longer story. Definitely could see a continuation.
I think it was a good story, just not what I was looking for. It turned out to be more steamy than romantic. I didn't feel the connection between the two main characters.
Claire was kicked to the curb by the boss in her law firm and heads home to restart life. Emma had been on the outside since her Mom died. Both have been hurt by the ex in their life. They meet in the pub Claire's family owns. A magic moment so beautifully unfolds as they start a casual relationship. Can anything real stay casual. These characters feel and experience a connection they have not felt before. They have a hot chemistry that lights up their world. The true connection just feels like it always was there. Magic may be something you don't see but it certainly can be felt. This is a great story to give you a holiday blessing full of second chance love and making a Life what you want. A fun, loving and warm Christmas romance to bless the holiday.
This was a wonderful romance for the holiday season. Claire and Emma were perfect for one another. The dialogue was so real and their sexual chemistry was amazing! I look forward to reading more by Ms. Wyatt!
Short story, but filled with enough to keep the reader involved. After Emma has lost her parent and Claire is unexpectedly fired for sleeping with her boss, both women meet at Claire's family pub. Tensions are still high due the circumstances but with a little Christmas magic decide not is all lost. Enjoy!
Overall a very cute, short wintery age-gap romance that's not heavy on the Christmas aspect. Read it in a couple of hours!

I wish I could give this a thousand stars. No one is better at writing age gap romances. Her stories are always believable , relatable and not far fetched. Like I could see her stories happening in real life. Her characters feel like living, breathing human beings. I love that. What a beautiful story with strong, likable characters with just enough sex sprinkled in to make it interesting. I just want to thank the author for taking the time and effort to write great stories instead of insulting our intelligence by throwing words together and calling it a story. Quality is better than quantity but I wouldn't upset if she wrote a little faster 😁😁😁
Picked this up based on the reviews. Felt like a well written erotica more than a well developed romance. The chemistry felt a little surface deep and I felt we were beaten over the head about the age gap thing which really wasn’t that big of a deal. Lacked a bit of nuance overall.
Recommend if you’re not picky and looking for something light and sexy.
I'm usually more hesitant on novellas because of how rushed and crazy everything is, but not this time. It was a great holiday read. Loved the age-gap love, the low angst, the chemistry.
I really do wish this was longer so I could see more of their relationship blossom before those three little words. Aside from that, I definitely do not regret reading this.
After the disastrous ending of her no-strings relationship with her boss, Claire is fired and returns home from NYC to the small town where she grew up. She's in her family's Irish bar one night when she meets Emma. There's a 17-year age difference between them and Claire intends to go back to the city, but a casual fling might be fun. Emma's been single a long time and has never done casual. But why not?
This is a sweet and short holiday story, well told with good chemistry and well-written sex scenes. There's a bit too much repetitive actions of moving each other's hair behind the ear that gets tired quickly. Other than that, a good, quick read.
Beautifully written story of Emma And Claire finding each other at the perfect time in their lives. Their journey to each other was wonderful to watch. A good read. Well developed characters and plot. I heartily recommend this book and any others by this author. I’m excited to read more of her works. Thank you Peace
This is an okay romance featuring two slightly lost main characters who find each other over the holidays. Beyond their sexual chemistry it's not terribly clear what they see in the relationship as their emotional connection does not come across. They end up HFN, but this reader was not sold on the long term potential for this couple.
