Living in the Underworld with the dark lord himself made giving in to my darkest urges easy. It’s finding my humanity again that’s going to be tough.
There’s only one reason I’d ever go back and that’s two-hundred pounds of male dragon perfection. Even with my she-demon in control, I can’t resist Talon. But will my feelings for him be enough to lure me back to the light?
And if I do go back, will I be alive long enough to enjoy my newfound freedom? Not likely if my blood-thirsty cousin, Thax, has anything to do with it.
The dark lord has been playing nice with me under his thumb, but what will he do when I set my sights on his throne?
G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.
This is a really great series and you should definitely put this series as a New Years resolution-to obtain the three books and read them before the 4th book comes out!
These books do not “drag you down”! The action and suspense starts right from the start and the chemistry between Talon and Azara smolders from the first time they lay eyes on each other! You mix in romantic feelings developing and add demons who want to kill Azara every chance they get and it makes for exciting reading that will keep you up until the wee hours of the morning!
Azara now has no memories now of what her past life was but has flashes of Talon in her mind. When she sees him on an outing she is determined to go where he is to get answers to who he is and most importantly who she is!
GK is a terrific story teller who will keep you riveted to the pages as they fly by faster and faster as you just can’t stop reading the story and waiting for Azara’s memories to return!
I recommend this series to all who enjoy reading about supernatural romances and action and suspense that will keep you guessing as to what comes next!
Treat yourself to a series that I know you will enjoy as you get immersed into this thrilling series and don’t be surprised when you get to where we are now that you will also will find yourself anxiously awaiting the release of book four like the rest of us so you can also continue this great adventure!
Man u really feel for Talon in this book he and Azaras relationship seems to always move forward an inch and then back a mile and again when things seem to be heading into familiar territory again everything is flipped upside down.
When Thax took Azara he was led by a prophecy and wanted to keep a tight rein on her in the hopes that doing so would change the course of said prophecy. But to keep Azara he had to torture her and ultimately wipe her memories of everything before she came into his clutches. The problem with weakening Azara is that it left the door open for her demon to come through and take over which she did many times and Thax used that to his advantage using Azara as his soul sucking weapon, the problem was like her memories she couldn't remember anything when her demon took over leaving her in the dark to the destruction she was leaving behind her. Talon never stopped looking for Azara blaming himself for being taken but when their paths cross and she doesn't know who he is it's sends ice through his veins and when she returns to Thax's underworld castle she can't stop thinking about the silver eye shifter, something about him is familiar and the more she thinks about it the more she's sure Thax is lying to her so she recruits a prisoner to help her find the shifter they call Talon which leads her back to Darkblood prison but her demon is still hard to control and with her memories still missing things get complicated when Vander sees his opportunity to move in on Azara which she doesn't stop. But as her memories start to resurface will she regret everything she's done or will she continue to hide behind her demon side.
Thank you G.K. DeRosa for granting me an ARC of this book for an honest review! After reading the second one, I was eager for the third and of course, finished it in a single day just like the others.
DEMON AT LARGE picks up where the second one left off, but it's worse than I would've imagined. After being captured by the warlord Thax for three months, he's done something to Azara's mind. Sha can't remember anything beyond the last week or two. Her demon is in full control and she's hungry for some fresh souls. Thax wants to use Azara for his own advancements as the warlord by marrying his cousin off. However, she isn't someone who will just bow down and break. She isn't a simple pawn in a game.
When Azara runs into a certain dragon, something sparks to life inside of her, but she can't remember why. So, she sets out for answers and there's only one person who can help her. After discovering this mystery guy resides in Darkblood Prison, she strikes a deal to get in. However, she didn't expect everyone to know her. It makes her see that her cousin might not have been honest with her.
With Azara returned, it's pretty obvious that she isn't the same from before she was captured. Something about her has changed and it hurts Talon to watch. Azara knows she should remember him, so she has to be patient and wait for her memories to return. But as we both know, neither Talon or Azara are the patient type.
I loved this one as much as I did the other two. We get to see the demon side of Azara, which even though she likes to push it down, it doesn't make it any less a part of her. The relationship between Talon and Azara is strained in this one more than it was in the previous ones, but that just gives the story another twist. It also sparks the passion in it to another level.
Fans of supernatural beings, drama, romance, action, and betrayal will love the DARKBLOOD PRISON series. I can't wait for the final installment!
This book was so good - the whole series has been great! After the ending of book 2 I couldn't wait to get the 3rd book. I started reading as soon as I got and enjoyed every minute of it. There were a few twists and turns that I did not see coming but that only makes the book better. If you haven't read this series yet put it in your TBR pile!! Can't wait to see how Azara and Talon's story ends up.
Whoa, this one is definitely my favorite of the series so far. It was fast paced, well thought out and intriguing. I don't want to say too much and give it away but I was expecting this book to pick up right after book 2. I was surprised that we started it a little further in the future and had to piece together what happened. It was quite a ride. I am eager to read the final book and still rooting for Azara and Talon.
This series just gets better and better for me. This third volume is darker as Azara struggles to get her memories backs and keep her demon in check, but it works so well and is never depressing. As witty and quirky as ever, this one had me compulsively turning the pages. The only disappointing part was finishing the book and having to wait for next installment!
A fast paced page turner with action, suspense and a few surprises. Azara's is back but she isn't herself. She doesn't know how she escaped Thax. He's tortured her, poisoned her, forced her demon side out, lies to her and taken her memories. Talon has been looking for her non-stop, she's back but she's not. Azara followed him , she's not sure how she knows him but she remembers those eyes. I would highly recommend this book and series
This installment finds us where the other left off. Azara has been taken by Thax and now her demon side is on the loose. She's darker, more reckless, but there is still a glimmer of who she was in there. Talon is beside himself and is fighting a battle all on his own for allowing her to have been taken. It's an interesting tug and pull between the two. It's going to be interesting to see how they navigate the things that happened and what's to come. I couldn't put the book down once I started as it sucked me in right from the start. I volunteered to read this book.
This was the same story as the last book, plus a love triangle! Because we didn't have enough cliche over done tropes already thrown into the mess that is this series.
I truly feel like these books are just the same book rewritten with a couple changes made and given a new(ish) title.
I have loved this Darkblood Prison series. I have been rooting for Talon ana Azara from the beginning. Now I find myself not knowing where to go next after this book.
Why do I love every G.K.DeRosa book? That’s properly because she is an amazingly talented creative writer and always manages to transport me straight through the written page right into the room with her characters, I seem to be able to feel every tense and good moment, with the emotions that just keep changing the quickness of my heart. My lips like Azara’s which seem to lift automatically when Dallas or Hayden walk into a room and seem to be able to disperse any tense moment with their great wit, or drool and go mindless when Talon enters it... Demon At Large In the Supernatural Prison Squad series starts immediately from where Thax stole Azura from right under the teams nose. The time hasn’t been kind to anyone as they have searched continuously for her, will Azura make her way back to them? Why would she? I’m not giving anything away about this storyline because it deserves to be read and appreciated by itself by each and every reader. I will tell you I inhaled this book, it really is one I have always found difficult to put down and I tend to pout until I can get back to it....The story is one that contains so many emotions, confusion, lose, betrayal, hope and pain. G.K.DeRosa to me is one of the best writers in her genres as she attacks every storyline with Gusto and seems to transport you into her worlds that feel so real you don’t even question them, quickly making you become that fly on the wall, a tear rolling down a face or the smile that splits a face. Not only has The Supernatural Prison Squad series been a hit but check out any of her previous pieces of work and I personally don’t think you will be disappointed with any. Each and everyone of her characters small or big has a part at some point therefore she will give you such insight into their personalities that they can’t be forgotten because no doubt they will be bought into play at some point, her main M/C’s are described with such accuracy they become part of your own psyche with what feels like just the click of a finger. The cliffhanger in Demon at Large came out of nowhere and I certainly wasn’t expecting it which sort of felt like I had face planted into a brick wall and I did scream a little noooooooo !!!! and that was only because everyone else in my household was asleep otherwise it would have been a big NOOOOOO !!!! but what distressed me more was the fact that was the info that came afterwards when you are informed that the final instalment of this series will be due out in March!! I don’t want it to finish !! 😢 I’m not ready to enter into society yet ! I don’t want to loose my friends and I need so much more training from my sexy fearless dragon Talon to get my she-demon under control 🙏🙏🙏
The demon lord Thax abducts Azara, dragging her to the underworld. There, with Remy's potions and assistance, he manipulates Azara's mind, transforming her into a new person with no memories of her past. He also awakens her inner demon, letting it loose with an insatiable hunger for souls. For months, Azara lives under Thax's control, tragically taking the lives of innocents.
Just as Thax pushes Azara to the brink of irreversible darkness, she encounters Talon. Intrigued by him, she manages to break free from Thax's grip and begins her search for Talon. Back in prison, Azara struggles to remember her past, and this amnesia creates complications, particularly in her relationship with Talon.
The challenges Azara and Talon face in this book are emotionally devastating. Azara's memory loss and Talon's withdrawal to give chance to Vander leave them both broken. Azara must also rebuild her strength, both physically and magically, while battling the constant threat of her demon's resurgence.
The third book in the series is the most intriguing. The author is a master at manipulating the reader's emotions. Talon and Azara's relationship is a rollercoaster of progress and setbacks, taking one step forward only to stumble back two.
Thankfully, in the romance department, all seems to be drawing toward a hopeful conclusion for the next final book. However, several unresolved issues persist, including the need to mend the rift between Talon and Vander, complete Azara's memory restoration, hold Delacroix and Thax accountable for their misdeeds, and determine the rightful heir to the throne.
I also eagerly await an apology from Ella for the stunt she pulled against Azara, regardless of whether her motivations stem from her infatuation with Talon or the blackmail. Such behaviour is utterly reprehensible! Likewise, Azara also needs to atone for her mistake.
(3.5 Stars) The Darkblood Prison series has been increasingly forecasting an epic battle to come. “Demon at Large” finds Azara in a rampage with her demon in full control sucking the souls of most in her path. She is being controlled through potions administered by her evil cousin, Thax; yet some semblance of her former self as well as her memories keep trying to surface.
After Thax attempts to sell Azara off as a booty call to a sleazy demon she manages to teach the demon a lesson and escape Thax. She finds her way back to Darkblood Prison where her return is kept secret from the SIA. She and Talon’s relationship is tenuous at best because he believes she is hopeless and no longer the same and she is desperately trying to recover her memories. She seeks the aid of both her grandfather, GG and Lucifer. One thing is quite clear, there is a bigger game afoot than anyone knows.
As Azara begins to reclaim her life her demon half continues to wreak havoc. She almost destroys any chance of Talon and Azara resuming their relationship but all is not lost and a prophecy is about to manifest.
This was a pretty good read but I found myself at odds with Azara because I really didn’t like her demon half. She was domineering and selfish. Additionally, I wish there had been a little more action. All of the incessant conversations about this or that got in the way of my enjoyment at times. There was also one failed mission after another. While I enjoyed this read I am looking forward to the final book in the series and getting answers to some of my questions. Thankfully it will be released in just a couple of months.
So far, so even better. This series is getting better and more gripping by the book.
Another one read in one night (will I ever get a full night's sleep) . The third in the series and it is a bit darker that the other two. Azara has been kept prisoner by her cousin Thax, The Dark Lord of the 6th Level of the Underworld. He has taken all her memories and has brought her inner demon to the fore to create havoc in other level and on Earth. Using her to suck out the souls of people and supernaturals alike and leaving them dead.
The SIA are searching for her and want her brought back, dead or alive, however Talon has other ideas about that and he will be bringing her back alive - if he can find her. His dragon self has already bonded very strongly with her and he is going crazy without her and has the Triad all out looking for her before the SIA can get hold of her.
Azara, being Azara doesn't need their help and comes up with a plan to escape the hell and torture she has been going through using the demons from the Darkblood Prison. She manages the escape and actually break into the prison to be with Talon. The Triad keep her hidden, not telling the SIA she has been found and then go about restoring her lost memories and get her back to her fighting form.
It is gripping from start to finish, with many twists and turns along the way, but if you want to know what they are then you will have to read the book, I am not here to spoil it for you.
Tonight will bring about the start of the 4th book for me and already I can't wait
honestly this kind of strays somewhere from a 2.75-3 and it’s not because of bad writing or anything, it’s just that I’m not a fan of love triangles and some minor issues I had with the book.
really wasn’t a fan of azura going all wishy washy with vander even though it’s not the human side of her that does it but still….. also vander I get that he was obsessed with azura because he had to watch over her (which is a bit creepy imo) but still where’s bro code…. in the end, im sad that in the end vanders history and friendship with talon ends up crumbling over a girl.
but speaking of talon, I get that he’s upset with whatever is going on between vander and azura but I wish he was more understanding (?) or forgiving of azura. the girl literally had amnesia and was tortured for months and at times I wished that he was able to treat azura better and be more forgiving of her grievances. im not saying that azura did nothing wrong (she had her fair share of wrongdoings) but I wish he was able to cut her some slack rather than throw a fit. that desire and passion he had for finding her seemed to fizzle as soon as azura came back into his life and although she changed a lot due to her being mind controlled by her cousin, I felt like he gave up on her too quickly?
In a lot of ways, the third installation of Darkblood Prison was hard to read. Trigger warning for memories of torture, and the conflicts between Azara and Talon were really repetitive. It made me want to slap Talon a lot of the time, because he could have been helping Azara recover her memories instead of blaming her for things that were beyond her control. I’m glad Azara stands up to him and fights his fire with her own, and that’s what made me keep reading and rooting for her. At the same time, with DeRosa’s fast-paced writing style, once I had the time to sit down and read, it didn’t take me long to blow through the book. In that way, it was easy to read!
I hope that in the final installment, Azara and Talon can work together to solve problems instead of sniping at each other all the time. They’ve reached a point in their relationship that they should be able to rely on each other without distrust and hurt feelings.

Oh man. After Azara gets taken by Thax in the last book, now we see what she’s been up to since she’s been gone and it looks like she went full Ryder! After managing to escape, she finds her way back to Darkblood Prison but she’s definitely not the same person the Triad knew and loved. Quite a few twists in this book and the ending leaves you knowing the best is yet to come. I have to say, I love how we see characters from other series by this author carry over into the various books she writes. As much as I love to read, it always saddens me a bit once I finish a book or series and know that I’ll never see the characters again so the way she incorporates many of her characters over multiple series’s (sp?) really makes my heart happy lol. Looking forward to the next book, and whatever else the author has in store for this amazing cast she’s created.
From the beginning to end this is a crazy rollercoaster. Azara has been in the Underworld since her cousin, Thax, kidnapped her in the last book. She has no idea why she's there and no recollection of anything that has happened. Talon is driving himself and everyone else crazy looking for her. I loved everything about this book and I'm looking forward to finding out what comes next. There was never a dull moment and plenty of demon fighting and magic. Azara still shows her immaturity in the tantrums she has a penchant for. She wants everything her way and doesn't listen to anyone else. Talon could have been more forthcoming about her past and help her remember. That being said, they make a jam up couple when they are not fighting. I also loved seeing Ryder and Luna and Talon was so cute at that meeting.
>Book Review – Demon at Large >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Darkblood Prison series and ends in a cliffhanger. The story takes place 3 months after Azara is kidnapped to the underworld. Azara is presented as a ruthless soul-sucker without remorse. She doesn’t remember Talon or her life before being taken. She only remembers a week of the 3 months! >I was frustrated with Azara and Talon once they reunited. Talon seemed to give up and Azara turned in to a seductress. The character I really disliked was Vander. He mentions how his father preferred Talon over himself, which would be a huge reason for Vander and Talon’s disconnect. The author never really mentions Vander’s jealousy again, though. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I did love how Azara searched for Talon even though she did not remember him.
G.K. DeRosa, in 2020 (and now 2021), has become one of my favorite authors! I love all of her books, but especially the ones that take place in Azar. Her characters are always to relatable, and it's no surprise her books suck me in until the very end.
Azara is certainly in some trouble. After being captured by Thax, something with her mind isn't quite right. As Azara struggles to get her memories back, and at the same time deal with her demon-side.
Talon also has his own battles he's facing when it comes to Azara.
It was hard to see the tension between characters building, but I know that they will straighten out in the end. I am so excited for book 4!
I swear each book in G.K. DeRosa’s Darkblood Prison series just gets better and better. Like the previous two books, I could not put this one down even if I wanted to—which I didn’t. I had to know what was going to happen next.
After the events at the end of book two, months have passed and Azara’s life has been flipped upside down and rewritten. Her demon side is more in control and life seems cushy, but nothing seems to quite add up. Add in the splitting headaches and the flashes of silver eyes haunting her dreams she feels deeply connected to, and it’s time to find out the truth.
This book was full of twists and turns, and betrayals and revelations, all playing out to the push and pull of a love that can’t be erased or denied, and all I can say is I need more. Bring on book four.
Azara is being held captive but she doesn't realise as her memories have been blocked. She thinks she has always loved with her cousin in his castle in the Underworld.
Azra ends up finding her way back to Darwood Prison and to her old bunk mates. They all want to know where she has been for the past 3 months but she doesn't know who they are or what they are taking about. Each of her friends try to clue her in to her life in the prison and her mate Talon.
She keeps getting flashbacks and realised what kind of person her cousin is and that she was drugged and tortured by him. With the help of her friends and family, she is determined to get her memory back and destroy her cousin.
Talon is an idiot. Here, I said. Azara comes back with amnesia and instead of helping her, what he does? Runs aways, like someone who loves so much but can’t stand up when things gets hard. She is not in a good place mentally speaking and Vander took advantage of her. Is it really consensual when she can’t control her demon impulses and is drunk? Vander knew better than that. And again, Talon is on the hook on this one for not watching her, for not stepping up and speaking his mind. He tells his friend she is all his and then gets mad when said friend does something. He rejects her and gets mad at her when she goes for Vander - regardless of the reasons. Just make up your mind. You can’t be mad at a situation you created yourself.
I can’t get enough of this series! Each book is better than the last ; ) Action, romance, mystery, and shmexy bad boys… You can’t go wrong. This one definitely has some unexpected twists I didn’t see coming, and Azara gets a little too comfortable with her dark side. I don’t want to include any spoilers, but she is a VERY bad girl in book 3 (it was fun though!). Luckily my favorite dragon shifter, Talon, is there to help Azara remember who she is. I loved seeing more of the Underworld, and we finally get a cameo of one of my all-time favorite characters in the Darkblood/ Hitched world ; ) After that ending, I’m SO excited to see what’s in store for Azara, Talon, and the rest of the Triad.
There is a lot going on in this story. Besides the personal there is a man hunt also. Azara getting away from her cousin and the memory lost is playing havoc with her. Very interesting story with so many points that can and will play a more important roll later on in the story I am sure. You will be surprised by some of the things that happen and how they effect things later on also. Very good story but I really HATE the cliffhangers. (Don't get me started) Excellent story can't wait until the next one to see how things go. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book was so much more than the others. Azara confronting her demon side, after it runs lose for months. Talon and Vander, the tension there. The drama and the heartache. There was so much darkness I n this book that I kept holding my breath at times, waiting for something good to happen. I found myself mad at Azara and Talon, both, over and over. The plot twists were so well executed and the spin at the ending has definitely left me needing the final book.
No cliffhanger this time but I can't wait to read the next book. Azara is definitely getting more interesting as she matures and shows signs of getting a grip on her powers. Once she has that demon under control she going to be formidable, and with the super hot dragon backup she has ( or should that be super hottie backup ?) I think a certain demon Lord needs to watch out. Great read, strong characters and a lot of action, I recommend starting with the first book in the series as it will make understanding the plot easier and its too good to miss.
This book continues seamlessly from book two and it didn’t disappoint. It was well written and the characters and story were well developed. I love the character personalities and seeing the relationship dynamics change and evolve through the book. The story was action packed and full of twists and turns. It had suspense, emotion, intrigue, hot chemistry and a touch of romance. I’d highly recommend this series so far and can’t wait for the next book!!
Demon At Large by G.K. Derosa is Book 3 in the Darkblood Prison series. What a rollercoaster ride. Azara is back from the underworld where Thax took her (kidnapped) but she has no memory of what happened there. Talon has been going crazy looking for her. Talon and Azara are a great couple when they are not fighting. Beautifully written with excellent character development, You actually feel like you are there experiencing the story. This is a great series. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
