About the author

Rose Carmel was born in Haiti and moved to New York City when she was ten years old. Rose Carmel grew up listening to her great- grand mother and her father's incredible stories of magical beings. She would later make up her own stories which she used to entertain her siblings.

Rose Carmel completed her Bachelor's degree from Queens College of the City University of New York. She would later on earn her Masters Degree. However, story telling was always her path. After the death of her mother, she decided to pursue her dream of being a published author.

Rose Carmel, "Rosie" to those loves, believes in the impossible, the unlikely and magic. Above all she believes in the grace that can be found deeply in the human heart.

This novel plays in the world of Abrahamic mythology, bringing to life the angels and dark beings that war over the role of humans and the divine plan. I found the stories and mythology beautiful, but because I was unfamiliar with many of the names, I'm not sure I'm doing the book justice. The writing is compact and I felt great empathy for Selah, the main character as he sets off on this adventure armed with his memories and faith. I think anyone who enjoys stories rooted in religious myth will enjoy this book.

Powerful approach to the question of where man is headed

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found myself wanting to re-read and research. The power of good over evil is a common theme, but Selah! brings it to the reader in a unique and refreshing manner. Regardless of your faith, there is a beautiful melding of the sacred.

The kind of book that sticks with you.

Selah is a one-of-a-kind book. The structure of this story is amazing, moving quickly with just enough backstory to allow you to understand the characters motivations without it being a slog. It blends lore from many different religions in a way that doesn't feel like proselytizing and is understandable for someone mostly unfamiliar with religion.

I absolutely loved taking this journey with the main character Selah, meeting the fascinating people he comes across and watching as he goes from a scared teenager to someone who just might be able to save the world.

I didn't expect myself to be so attached to this book given it's length (only 137 pages) but I found myself nearly in tears at work as I neared the end. This story is larger than life, with one of the most beautiful endings I've read in a while.

Do yourself a favor and pick this up. I hope the author writes more books set in this universe because I'm dying to know what happens next.

Truly a unique and compelling story. The magic woven into the mythology was beautifully done. There were times it felt like I was reading a sacred text instead of the tale of a young man's journey to follow his destiny. I was unfamiliar with a lot of the reference, but it didin't matter; it just made the story that much more mysterious. Angels, demons, ancient religious doctrine & magical beings made this a rich telling. It was a "can't put down" for me and when I finished I was anxious for next book. Original and captivating.

Wonderful!!!

I absolutely loved this book! It was well written, and pulled me in right from the start. My only question is..... will there be a sequel? I hope so.
