Variant Lost

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 🤨☺️🙃😎🥰

The heroine: Eve - She grew up with her single mother, they moved from place to place changing names each time. They were running from someone but her mother will never tell her who or why or anything really. After her mother dies in a plane crash, Eve is invited to be a student at the Bradford Hills Institute. She is a human but has an interest in science, especially having to do with Variant DNA and abilities.

The Hero(es): Tyler (a.k.a. Gabe) – He is an administrator at the Institute, very handsome and all the women want him. He is a Variant and his power is as a lie detector.
Ethan (a.k.a. Kid) - He is a student at the Institute, a Variant with the power of fire.
Alec (a.k.a. Master of Pain) – He works for a mysterious organization that rescued Eve from the ocean after the plane crash in which only she and the Variant Co-pilot survived. He is a Variant and his power is causing pain. Almost everyone gives him a wide berth due to the fact that sometimes his power leaks from him and gives people nearby headaches.
Josh - Kid’s friend who grew up with the other guys. He is a Variant with the power of Telekinesis.

The Love Story: Eve is enjoying the institute and having a home where before she moved from place to place. The four guys seem extremely interested in her from the start. All four guys grew up together and went through some things when they were young. The four guys live together. They are all Variants (which another word for people with DNA that gives them special abilities).

The audio/narration on this one was very odd. The female narrator was perfect for this one. The character of Eve is 18 years old and the narrator’s voice reminded me of a Emma Roberts at about that age, so it was perfect. Though the male narrator reminded me of a movie trailer narrator, the voices for the 4 guys sounded way too old and had the inflection like he was narrating movie trailers “In a world…”.

Though one thing I really liked about the narration on this book was that even though it was told in Eve’s POV, the male narrator did the male voices. In all the audiobooks I have listened to, when it is the female POV, the female does the male voices and when it is the male POV the male does the female voices. I always thought it should be this way. Though I would have liked it to be multiple POV. I like to hear the Heroes POV.

The story was great. Though as far as romance, it is a slow burn. The reverse harem aspect is coming along though there isn’t a lot of intimate contact between the main characters as of yet. That is fine though as it is more realistic than a bunch of people jumping into bed together or the heroine jumping in and out of each of the men’s beds. The Variant storyline is extremely interesting and the secrets are even more so. I am completely enjoying this so far.

Vital Found

Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 🤨☺️🙃😎🥰

The heroine: Eve (a.k.a. Evelyn) - She now knows that she is the Vital for the 4 Heroes. A Vital is a conduit to the light for the guys. The Vital absorbs the light and can filter it into the Variant(s) that they are bonded to. Eve is bonded to all 4 of the Heroes.

The Hero(es): Tyler (a.k.a. Gabe) – with the light he gets from Eve, he can not only determine that others are telling lies, but what they are lying about and what is the truth behind the lie.
Ethan (a.k.a. Kid) - He is gaining control of his fire ability.
Josh - He has the power of Telekinesis and with the light infusions from Eve, he is working on being able to fly.
Alec (a.k.a. Master of Pain) – He can send pain out in huge waves. He is doing everything he can to deny his bond with Eve.

The Love Story: The relationship between Alec and Eve is strained to say the least at the start of this book. Also Eve doesn’t really know what her relationship with Tyler is. Since he works for the administration at the Institute, she sees him as a sort of authority figure so she is confused about that and thinks he doesn’t have romantic feelings for her.

The audio/narration is growing on me with the second book, though I still don’t like the male narration. Not only is the voice too old sounding for these young guys, the inflection he uses for Tyler is too chipper and still reminds me of a movie trailer voice. Also, the inflection he uses for Ethan is way too surfer dude and dumb sounding, some of the writing for Ethan shows him as not the brightest of the four, but this voice makes him sound so dumb that it is hard to see what Eve would see in him.

The story was great. I liked it as much as the first book. There was the acrimony between the hate groups and the Variants, the continued issues between Eve and Tyler, and the animosity that Alec seems to hold for Eve. The storylines just keep getting more interesting.

Vivid Avowed

Character development: 🤨☺️🙃😎🥰

The heroine: Eve (a.k.a. Evelyn) - She is bonded to all 4 of the Heroes.

The Hero(es): Tyler (a.k.a. Gabe) – a Variant with the ability to read minds/detect lies.
Ethan (a.k.a. Kid) - a Variant with a fire ability.
Josh - A Variant with the power of Telekinesis.
Alec (a.k.a. Master of Pain) – A Variant with the ability to cause pain.

The Love Story: Eve has solidified the bond between her and Tyler, Ethan and Josh, but Alec is a different story.

This book had the most action and was definitely the best of the three. Like the last books I really enjoyed the narration from the female voice, but the male voice just didn’t fit her four guys. Though I must say that this guy is good at using different voices and inflections for the different male characters. The woman is the same. I could definitely tell when each of the different characters was speaking.

The storyline about Eve glowing was terrific. There were also some terrific villains in this series. Eve’s biological father trying to use her (and other Vitals) to transfer abilities from one person to another was extremely interesting. This book was definitely the steamiest of the series. There were quite a few intimate scenes between Eve and her Variants.

-H knows where h is and is keeping tabs on her. But is making sure she doesn’t find him.

-They reunite and are put together as a team with that’s has her and the harem in it. They live together as a team.

-H knows he is her bonded but keeps it a secret cause he doesn’t want to bond🤬

-H is HORRIBLE to h. He is sleeping with his fuck buddy which the h see constantly. She sees them making out. See OW coming out of his room after sex.

-At a gala H corners h and kisses her and slight make out. But right after H goes out to the limo and fucks his fuck buddy and h walks up and sees them.

-Then when things explode H tells h she has no right to tell him who he can fuck.

-It comes out that he knew they were bonded (mates) and lied. He says he loves her his whole life. She forgives him immediately and they move on.

-Knowing she was his bonded and kept fucking OW right in front of her for months and basically the whole first book and some of the second is disgusting and it is DEFINITELY CHEATING 🤬😡🤬😡

POINT TO SELF- Don't leave reviews on hold. Your memory is shit.

So I'm sitting here a week later trying to remember what this story was about. If you've read the Kit Davenport series, then this series can be explained as an almost similar story. There are people with powers and people with no powers. People with powers get their energy from people called Vitals, who use up energy from the light. Once a person with powers finds his/her vital, they become bound for life.

The series was good but I kept comparing it to the Kit Davenport series, which I LOVED! Also, here I am trying to remember the story of this series and I'm coming up blank.
Was it good? YES
Was it memorable? NOPE
Sigh..this review is disappointing.

I got this one from KU for the bonus content. I liked the Trilogy and already bought the books. I reread them and then read the bonus content. It's mostly little scenes, a lot of them are about smexy times with one of the guys or more guys. The last one is my favorite one. I enjoyed the stories.

If you've followed me for a period of time then you already know.
This Trilogy is one of my favorite RH series! So when I found out we were going to get a thiccccc omnibus with bonus scenes?
Merry Christmas to me!

I re-read the series of course and then immersed myself in the bonus content.
It was amazing to be back with my Eve and her four guys. I'm trash for fated mates, especially when we have one that fights his fate. It's the fight against the bad guys. Her power being the strongest the world has seen in a long time. I absolutely adore their dynamic.
But mostly just the tiny family they create between the five of them.

Mostly fun if a bit repetitive superpower/X-Men-esque reverse harem trilogy. Suffers a bit from being only single POV--I really could have used some other voices in the mix.

back and forth

⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

So this trilogy has me conflicted and feeling all different kinds of ways. The opening few chapters of book one had my jaw dropping and I was engaged and in for the ride from the get go, it’s honestly one of the most gripping introductions I’ve read in a book for a while.

I really liked the overall story line, the characters, especially Alec because hello who doesn’t love a broody guy and the few twists that I didn’t see coming— Kaydence Snow has no chill with gutting her readers and I was here for it!

What pulled me out of the story constantly was the time jumping and the formatting of how it was done, I had to go back quite a few times and reread what I just read to make sure I didn’t skip anything. I also felt like a lot of things that happened were done off the page and then referenced to by Evelyn after the fact— and from some of what she described would of been fantastic and a great addition to the story to read in detail in real time which would then take out a lot of the filler parts where I was just waiting for things to move on.

I loved the bonus scene with Tyler and the final one with Evelyn and her guys, their reactions were so great.

I’m going to try Kaydence Snow’s other more recent releases to see whether I fair with them better!

5 stars for The Evelyn Maynard trilogy by Kaydence Snow. This is a paranormal reverse harem trilogy. This trilogy to me was unique from any other that I have read. Evelyn is on a scholarship to Bradford Hills Institute, and she is instantly drawn to Ethan, Tyler, Josh and Alec. These are four of the rarest variants around. Evie never had a place to call home. She grew up with her mom, moving her from place to place while running from someone. The four guys grew up together and are looking for Vital. Since this is the trilogy, many things are discovered but I do not want to give anything away. I will say that this is a slow burn reverse harem. I would consider this a must read.

This new adult, reverse harem story with a fantasy element really drew me in immediately. The characters, world building, emotions and overall imaginative story will have you captivated from the beginning to the end. I highly recommend this series to lovers of reverse harem and fantasy.

Read the first 2 few years back. Had to reread them because I didn't remember the story. Not sure I rated them 3stars, but I actually enjoyed the series, but I didn't change my initial rating.

4 stars - overall series

Too bad, I really liked this one… until I didn’t. Never enough groveling. Why does the justifiably mad girl always give in two seconds later? He didn’t even apologize.

Before I begin, yes this will have spoilers. Also a lot of language….sorry can’t help myself. I am not the one to normally do lengthy reviews on books, I usually just leave stars and maybe occasionally I will write a little about it. Like I loved it...blah blah blah. But I feel I need to change this. So this is my FIRST attempt in writing a REAL review on a book (well books for this case).

Variant Lost Review
Ratings
Storytelling - 10/10 - Honestly, Kaydence Snow does an amazing job at telling this story. It is descriptive and captivating in the best ways. I love the mysteries she hides in the story and builds around. Honestly the character ratings below are personalized to me as the reader. Not as a whole, because all of her characters are amazingly written and I love them all.

World Building - 10/10 - Again, Kaydence Snow does an amazing job! She does an amazing job of building the world up as she is telling the story. I love it so much.

Characters - 10/10 - Even with my hate of Alec, I love them all. They are well thought out and they have their flaws and imperfections. They aren’t all just “perfectly” this or that. They all have hidden flaws, and outright flaws. They have insecurities, which we see with Ethan when Eve runs away and even Josh later that night, including Tyler and Alec (though those two are not outright with saying or showing it. It is more of a silent slide in).

Romance - 10/10 - While Ethan and Josh outright show their attraction to Eve, and she them. There is hints of wanting and longing from Tyler, and even Alec (though he can fuck off this his shit). I love how even though the pull is there Eve isn’t just throwing herself into sexual situations with the guys or pushing boundaries that are set with Tyler. Ever even states she doesn’t know how this will work because she has four bounds. I do love Eve and Ethan’s little pet name game. It’s adorable and wholesome.

Mystery - 10/10 - There are a lot of different mysteries in this book from the very beginning to the very end. I love that some mysteries pop up and then slowly the truth comes to light and some are never solved. It actually is super fascinating ( and I’m not one for mysteries usually).

Character Development - 9/10 - While most of the characters go through development and change a bit during the book there is one who doesn’t….we all know who that bitch is (Alec). I feel that Eve goes through the biggest because she was a runner all her life. And now she has a family that she trusts and loves and friends she trusts. I loved seeing her open up to Dot and Zara about her Bonds. I love that the boys went through their own little developments (compared to Eve’s).

Overall Rating - 10/10 - Let me start with saying that yes, I absolutely loved this book. Not just because it was captivating in its storytelling, with its very mystery driven theme of Variants, Vitals, "Dimes", and of course just Eve's secrets and those secrets she doesn't even know. Honestly, this was one of those books I loved the description of and decided to try it (it was free on Amazon Prime Reading) and well I was not disappointed. I had a hard time getting myself to stop reading so that I could do anything OTHER than reading the first book. Variant Lost was a wild ride of emotions. I related a lot to Eve, with her losing her mom. I was a bit concerned that she had four variants that she was the vital for...kind of felt like it was one of those main character is extremely powerful tropes...but I am SO glad it wasn't that (or at least it stopped feeling that way as the book went on and the characters developed from just backgrounds to main characters). I love the twist at the end with the switching of povs. Seeing where Charlie was and WHO had helped plan the attack and who has KIDNAPPED HIM! Perfection.

I was shocked when Eve found Alec again after looking for a year. I was PISSED when he was a complete ASSHOLE...he still is one and will forever be one to me, love hate him. It SHOCKED me when I found out she grew up (birth to like 5 I think) with the boys! Her mom knew them! I absolutely adore the friends that Eve makes. Beth was my favorite!!!! I HATE SHE DIED!!! I love Zara, her snarky attitude helps balance out everyone. Dot is perfection in all ways! Charlie is a KING! I love him and if he gets hurt I will burn the world! I also love Dot and Charlie's siblingship. It is PERFECT SIBLING REPRESENTATION! Alec can go fuck a truck....sorry not sorry I hate him for hurting Eve and the boys! HE KNEW SHE WAS HIS VITAL AND FUCKING LEFT HER ALONE! AFTER BEING THERE WHEN HER MOM DIED!!! HE CAN EAT A BRICK!

Characters
Eve (Evie/Evelyn)  - Vital - 10/10 - Honestly I LOVE her. I loved that we got to learn about the world with her, such as her being a vital and navigating the world she was being pulled into. She has her flaws, which make her perfectly imperfect. She isn't the typical "I'm a nerdy girl" or "I'm helpless" or anything like that. She is capable of standing her ground and also running when she can. She isn't jumping into the fights like she can handle herself. She helps when she can with her skills.

Alec (ASSHOLE) - Pain Power - 0/10 - FUCK HIM! I get that he hates his ability (at least that is what I gathered from how he is), but that doesn't mean you get to act like a fucking DICK! He was there for Eve's worst moment (and again later when she finds out Beth dies), then he goes full DICK! He left Eve alone and blocked her from finding him, then after Beth dies the dick fingers her and says he doesn't want anything from her and before tells her he HATES her. Like the FUCK dude.

Tyler (Gabe/Ty) - Lie Detector - 10/10 - Absolutely LOVE Tyler. He is a teacher to Eve and the leader of their little group. He is so sweet and tries to keep things strictly teacher/student with Eve, even with his little wandering hands at the gala *wink. wink*. He is such a sweet guy who cares so much about his family and even those just around him. There is a lot still to learn about Josh I can sense, and I HOPE to everything we get a lot more information about him in the upcoming books.

Ethan (Kid) - Fire - 9/10 - I like Ethan. He is a little overprotective and at times seems to think more of himself than the others in the Bond. That's why I gave him a 9. He is the goofy one of the bunch and I feel he is always trying to break tension between everyone. He is also is very sensitive at times, which I love seeing. It is hard making a guy sensitive when writing, especially one who is as big and strong as Ethan...so that is a HUGE plus on him.

Josh - Telekinesis - 10/10 - I LOVE JOSH! He is my favorite...I can't help it. He is so observant of Eve and her unsaid emotions. It is nice to see that each of the guys are different from each other, while still having a lot in common with each other.

Dot - Talks to Animals - 10/10 - Dot is the perfection we all need in life. She is the short fiery doll this book needs! She adds that spunk that Zara also offers, but in a completely unique way to Zara. My heart BROKE when she was so torn up at the end of the book. Her outfits and makeup are what make her so adorable, yet they were stripped away because of her sadness over losing her brother! I was on the verge of tears!

Charlie - Vital (for Dot) - 10/10 - I adore Charlie. Not just because he’s the gay character (I mean he is and he’s not the “stereotypical gay” either). He comforts Eve, when he knows the secret but we don’t know he knows. Which says a lot about him. He went out of his way to keep her secret even from her and helped her when he could.

Zara - Dormant Variant - 10/10 - Snarky, sassy, and a good friend. Yes she hates the variant community, but I can understand that because both her parents have powers and she is dormant. Her and Dot's hate for each other is a little bleh for me because we don’t have much information on that. I hope their stay in the hospital helps heal that rift between them.

Beth - Human - 10/10 - JUSTICE FOR BETH! I fucking loved Beth. She was the sweet shy girl who just wanted to see and be a part of the variant world. She deserved better! I cried when Eve found out she was dead. And I got chills reading it. I hate she had to die, but I feel it will be a character point for Eve in the future, which sucks! But I get it.

Storytelling -  10/10 - Like I said before! She does an AMAZING job with her storytelling. Descriptive, captivating and just PERFECTION! Again, LOVED the mysteries that were thrown in and the CURVE BALLS! Yes they made me MAD AS HELL or confused...but they WORKED SO WELL!
World Building -  10/10 - Such an amazing job, with the different places and the scene settings...just perfection!
Characters -  10/10 - Again her characters are perfection! They change, they grow, they fail, they fall. I will say though I have changed my personal views on some characters.....*Alec....Zara....*
Romance -  10/10 - Love the romance. I LOVED the SPICE! I love that each character in the Bond (Ty, Ethan, Alec, and Josh) all have their differences when it comes to Eve, like how Josh always seems to know when something more is up with Eve or with Ethan how he is just a big loveable teddy bear. Loved that three of the four got to strengthen the bond....*wink, wink*
Mystery - 10/10 - Again her mysteries were there and perfectly given to us then poked at by bits of info...then real answers given to us...and it's not in an insert answer here thing. It's more of a plot driven answer that is given by another character. Eve doesn't figure out that Davis is her dad.
Character Development -   10/10 - While some characters *cough* Zara *cough* have negative developments, it's how things are. No one is always going to positively change in life. I get why Zara did what she did...but still it hurt to see her go dark....Okay I love Alec now.....fuck me.
Overall Rating - 10/10 - I loved the introduction of Marcus, Kyo, and Jamie. They are honestly perfect to be Alec's team. I love that they realized it was her, that she was the one they rescued and that they ACCEPTED the thanks for saving her. I love that Eve is there for Dot in her time of need and can help her by TRANSFERRING LIGHT to her. It shows that she is growing as a person to be able to have a close bond with Dot and the guys. I absolutely LOVE that Kyo wanted information on Dot and that he wants to help Eve with remembering what happened that horrible day without breaking the confidentiality with the Merlior Group. I hated that Ty was being distant, while I get he works...I had a feeling he was hiding a lot more from Eve than he was saying (which I was right). I love that Kyo is just like "I know you're their vital" just casually. I was both in love with and appalled by The Hole. It was an interesting place, but like I get Eve's reaction to it...hell no. While I hated Dana (both in this book and the first one), I ended up feeling for her when she found out Eve was Alec's vital. Like she really thought she had a chance with him...but she never did. During The Hole situation I felt bad for Alec, he fought in that place to feel in control...Ty on a bike though good god! Then he opens up to her on his mom's birthday...that was just so FUCKING ADORABLE! Also love that he has a school girl kink...that better come back later. I hated Alec was the reason that Ty was keeping his distance from Eve. I ship Dot and Kyo...Forever and always.
Kinda wanted to SLAP the shit out of Eve when she suggested she just expel light to Ty to fuck Alec...bitch move. I am glad they worked it out and he told her the truth about WHY he was keeping his distance...then started behaving like a good bondmate. I also love the powers that the guys develop over this book, Ethan with his ability to put fires out that he didn't start, Josh with his ability to move much more with his power, Ty with being able to see what people are lying about, and Alec and being able to take away pain! While I understood why Eve made her plan to run away to test the Lighthunter...it was still heartbreaking to the guys. And the fact she goes to Harvey for help...makes me a little more mad. but Harvey does prove to be a great guy and brave one too (even if it is STUPID to stand up to the guys). I love when Ty, Ethan, and Josh are just like "I'm her boyfriend". Nina, the light hunter proves to be a GREAT addition to the story. She is wise and a bit out there in her ways (or at least that's how I took it). While I LOVED Zara in the first book...I hate her now. She betrayed Eve in the WORST way. Not only helping KIDNAP her, but then being in on Davis's plans....I just can't, and then she wants to FIND EVE FOR HELP!!!! I love that Alec and Eve got the horrible studygate out in the open to the others. It helped them all to heal I think. Before Alec had talked about fixing everything because he can't keep losing her...and then he said he hated himself....I cracked....when he said he loved her...I melted.
I loved being able to find out more about Joyce, Eve's mom. I loved that she was a vital and glowed like Eve. It surprised me when Lucian said Joyce was his vital.....I was VERY SCARED! I was both glad and upset when I found out Davis was her dad. Happy because she didn't cross that line with the guys, but sad because her dad is a HORRIBLE MONSTER! Finding out that both Joyce and Eve can kill a cariant and give that power to another...is scary.
I loved that Eve was able to ummm strengthen her bond with Ty and then Ethan and then Josh. Now we just need Alec. I am very happy that it was spicy without being smut. That is a hard line to stay on.
I loved them being able to find and save Charlie, even with all the pain he had to go through. I am glad that he is safe. I HOPE Lucian makes it. I don't think Eve and the guys could handle losing him. I hated how Rick died and Zara got his powers...that just pisses me off. She doesn't deserve it, especially with her wanting Ethan's powers...no bitch go away!

Characters
Eve (Evie/Evelyn)  - Vital - 10/10 - Still love her. She has grown a lot since the first book. She is working with her Bonds and her friends to be better and understand more. I love that we not only learn more about her but her mom and her dad as well. While she handles it all with grace, I don't think I would have been able to. Though she did lose her not jumping into fights she can't handle praise from the last book. Trying to rush back into a burning, collapsing building is not SMART!
Alec - Pain Power - 10/10 - Okay....so I love Alec now. He had a lot of growth in the book. With learning to open up to not just Eve but they guys as well. He did a lot to make up for all his shitty actions, though not fully. He is learning to trust his bond and accept who he is. I LOVED that he trusted Eve enough to try to take Charlie's pain away and he DID IT! I think that having that will help him to learn to love himself...or at least I hope it does.
Tyler (Gabe/Ty) - Lie Detector - 10/10 - Still love the man of reason! He also opened up a lot in this book. Explaining why he wasn't going for a romantic relationship with Eve, to then being her first bondmate she sleeps with.
Ethan (Kid) - Fire - 10/10 - Still loving Ethan. He did have a lot more sensitivity to him this book, which I still love. I get why he is that way too. It's not just him being insecure, it's his past he doesn't want repeated with losing someone he loved (his parents). I think that Ethan is an amazing character.
Josh - Telekinesis - 10/10 - Still my favorite. I love that he gets things quicker than the others when it comes to subtle hints. Like when Eve was packing and she had been with Ty...he knew right away. I love that he is very concerned with how Eve and even the others are feeling about things.
Dot - Talks to Animals - 10/10 - Dot has a lot going on for her in this book. With losing Charlie, dating Kyo, and building a closer friendship with Eve...she had a big change. I hated seeing her so down and out of herself.
Charlie - Vital (for Dot) - 10/10 - We didn't see much of Charlie in this book, but I am glad he is back and safe...even if he has a long way to go with his healing.
Zara - Dormant Variant - 0/10 - DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED WITH HER! SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUCKING FRIEND!!! YET SHE TRADED IT ALL FOR A FUCKING ABILITY!!! WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT! Yeah I get she was hurting after Beth passed...but so was Eve! I hope Zara gets what is coming to her!

Storytelling - 10/10 - Still did it! Kaydence is amazing with her storytelling and her descriptive wording. I am honestly really happy that I got this book. I loved every moment of it, even when it made me mad, sad, or frustrated. It was very hard to stop reading it once I got going.
World Building - 10/10 - Loved that the world was similar and different to ours. I loved that she built up the Variant world the way she did.

Characters - 10/10 - Though I started off hating and loving some characters and that changed over the books. It makes the book good. You are supposed to love characters and hate characters. I really loved this.

Romance - 10/10 - ROMANCE WAS AMAZING! I loved the relationship developing and strengthening with Alec, Ty, Ethan, Josh, and Eve. And even Dot and her boys. I loved that there was a poly relationship displayed as an equal and fun thing. There isn't a lot of literature out there with Poly relationships (at least that I know of).

Mystery - 10/10 - While there was still a lot of mystery around a lot of stuff in the books, we thankfully get our answers (even if it is three books later *cough* the plane crash *cough*).

Character Development - 10/10 - I feel that the characters went through a lot of small and major developments in the last book. Alec was one of them, accepting that he had to share Eve. Eve changed a lot to how she thought, instead of just running off she trusted her bond and worked with them.

Overall Rating - 10/10 - Honestly, everything about this book made me love it. I loved that Charlie was able to find love with Ed (though I was heartbroken when Ed's unnamed brother died). I loved that we learned more about the bond mates (especially that little bit about why Josh dresses up for school but differently at home). I loved the dynamic between Alec and Eve in this book too, the push and pull of wanting to accept each other...but being scared to actually accept each other (and once they do the dominance dance still goes on). I loved that Eve was able to get Alec to believe that she did care about him and not just because of the Bond.
Honestly, I am so fucking over Davis during this book...I am so glad he got what was coming to him. the bastard deserved it...all of it.

Good trilogy.

Kept my attention through all three books, which is surprising as I've been in a book slump lately. I will look forward to readings more from this author.

This was a very well written story. I will definitely be reading it again. There was a few times I wanted to shake some sense into the main female... but with the trauma she has had it makes sense why she would do or think some of the things she does.

Really my only complaint would be the last sexy time scene... it felt like it was set up perfect, flowed into it nicely. However, it was just really lacking. LOL, other then that I really like this series.

love this series

I bought the entire series the first time I read it- I had fallen in love with Evelyn’s world and I planned to visit often. Anytime the world gets me down I go back to Bradford Hills. The box set came out and when I discovered it had bonus scenes!! I was so there! Oh every bonus scene rocked and I feel all warm and happy now! Thank you K Snow for doing this and sharing these delightful characters with us and giving us more!

OK so the first book I gotta say where did the girl who kinda seemed like a badäss go? All of a sudden evie became a crier about everything and relied on the guys to save her like come on why did she become so pathetic in the beginning She's hacking stuff and selling fake id's now she's just depending on others it was a complete 180 from where she started not trusting no one. The author has me wanting to read the book but at the same time if it continues like that through out the whole story then I'll definitely feel like I wasted my time. Also how come her mother didn't teach her to shoot or to fight like really let's teach my child how to hide and run only in real life I'm sure someone would teach their kids all the survival skills including how to fight so I don't see why the author didn't include that into the plot because then my issue with the writing wouldn't be a problem. Anywho back to the book (haven't completed the full series or 1st book yet)....
Starting book 2 but I have 1 more complaint about book 1 I wish we got the boys povs because it would of added depth and helped me connect to all the guys and our fmc because I'd get to see their motivations behind the actions they take and see her in their eyes. Ok that's it on to the second one.**I'm on the second book still right now, but
I'm seeing a repetitive theme in the mfc she's a weak whiny crybaby who likes to blame everything on everything else never once taking responsibility for her own reactions or stupidity.
***pge 373 of book 2(in the trilogy set)***
Ughhhh why does this author have to make the fmc so weak and whiny. The way she's always needing the guys is sad especially because it could of been a better more cohesive plot if she stayed as resilient as she was in the beginning of the first book. Now she's just a simp-ing weak fragile immature childish character which is just annoying and has literally gave me a headache. At this point I think I'm turning in and stopping maybe I'll pick it up again but maybe I'll just leave it as is. Also just a FYI it's a super slow burn which just made me start disliking the book more and more everything the author foiled the sexiness that could of blossomed -_-

This was a beautiful, beautiful story, full of action, lots of funny moments, sexy men, original plot, interesting characters, acceptable burn level, heavy emotion, and romance.

There was some heartbreak and angst, but the romance I loved the most - sweet and heartfelt at first, with the steam taking up a notch once the Bond is solidified. The bromance is so cute. This series gripped me from the first book, in fact, I was drawn in from the first page - a rollercoaster of emotions, laughter, tears, and love. The whole build-up of the past and the linking into the present, and then the twists and turns, some predictable, but mostly surprising me and keeping me guessing.

The world-building is phenomenal and original. I got really sucked into this world of variants and vitals. The character development is detailed and over the course of the books, you see real growth, especially of the alphahole. This is not a perfect love story, and there is a lot of work to be done and growth by everyone, but the author does not shy from dealing with the hard issues.

Evie is a science nerd with a sassy mouth, very emotional, and lots of personal issues. She is not the perfect FMC that is all bad-ass, but she is likable and relatable in that she has this inner strength that you see grow over the course of the books. She freaks out a lot and is quite hilarious, but as I mentioned, I could relate to her, and her whole nerdy way of trying to understand the PNR was different for me. Aaaah, the guys, I love them all. They are unique and different, and I like it's not an insta love, rather, some serious work on their relationships. The secondary characters are also great and quite interesting, and like I said this world is so interesting, you really feel like a part of them and feel their pains and cheer their gains.

What would have made this story even better and truly worthy of 5 stars if the author gave the guys' POV. It was nice to see that amongst the bonus scenes, but I really would have liked that throughout the series.

I listened to this as an audiobook.

I enjoyed the story. The narration was good except for an accident that pops up a few times. Twists and turns everywhere.

I’d recommend this book.

Wow, I went all in! I did binge read the first two books and then took a break. It was interesting, this was my first Rh where the characters are not humans but with powers and bonds. With this bond feeling it is always confusing if they truly like each other or the bind is driving their feelings forward. But its one and the same. Eve was surprisingly a different character, she is quirky has all these facts inside her head, thinks about a lot of study related things. Over the course of the three books she grew, she was scared and intimidated by the things she had to experience but when push came to shove her strength got her through things. Her relationship with each of the man in her bond was different. With Ethan, it was so playful. With Josh, it was comforting. With Tyler, it was thrilling. With Alec, it was intense. The boys already have a strong bond with each other but there are secrets that are revealed as we go ahead in the story but their bond remains. What was interesting is that Eve does not let the guy who hurts her off the hook too soon. It takes her a lot of time to feel strong enough to say I love you to that one person in that bond. It was good to see that because usually after some affection all past transgressions are forgiven and forgotten. Here it was not the case. I have to admit I did not expect some deaths in the last book and that made me feel sad. They did have a good ending but I was still sad because I do not like knowing people had to die to reach the final stage of ending. But it makes sense in a fight casualties happen.

My heart was soothed after reading the bonus scenes! Those were nice to read and left me feeling okay in the end! I enjoyed the series!

Just Nope.

Let me first say I love RH books. I also rarely review books unless they are exceptionally good or bad and read/listen to a series twice before I write a negative review.

Read this only if you are waiting for another series or book to come out and are really bored

The plot and powers are interesting.

First I have no idea why this author has this 19 year old moaning every time she eats. On top of this she cries All. The. Time. I'm not kidding, she cries after every action scene, every emotional revelation, everything she is stressed out even a little.

She has no self confidence, which is strange for a MC. She doubts her bonded mates, people she admits love her beyond reason and are made for her, and believes everything random side characters tell her as facts. For example she has a major emotional decision to make and she calls an ex boyfriend she hasn't seen in over a year. What?!?

The worst thing is she avoids making any major decisions until either someone pushes her just before its too late (which she admits she is thankful for) and doesn't stop doing it even at the end of the book.

A few other things: she forgives everyone (even for kidnapping and murder), all but one of her men say Dude (even just after sex) and high five over her naked body, the author has main characters and never tells you their abilities or whether or not they are human or variants.

If you want a similar story that is more in depth and has a MC who starts weak and confused but ends up strong. try The Seraph Black Series by Jane Washington.

a great slow burn PNR RH series

Although it’s an Academy setting Eve is newly 18 so I’d say it’s more university.
This trilogy is brilliant. The writing was great and I love the mystery surrounding Evelyn and her mother’s secrets. There is everything you need to get you hooked into a series with the mystery and suspense of Evelyn and her mother’s history. Add in those secretive and annoying hot guys, throw in a exclusive school/ academy setting and I’m all the way hooked.
Since I couldn’t help myself and binged book two and three I’ll combine my thoughts on those. Each of the guys bought something different to the relationship. Ethan with his playfulness, Josh with his caring and intuitive ways. I adore Tyler for being the smart one who also lead them all as a family and Alec with his brooding and overprotectiveness.
Eves character develops from being quiet and quite shy into a woman who knows what she wants and trusts her bonds. There are definitely some moments that had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation and the build up to the heat is exquisite. I love that the relationships each developed at the pace that was right for that pairing. I love that some of the steam cranked up to ten and I definitely recommend these to anyone why wants to try PNR RH.

I totally got this edition purely for the 40k bonus content. I was secretly hoping that it would be a bonus novella, but sadly it was just a collection of deleted scenes and chapters from a different POV. That is not to say I didn’t enjoy the bonuses, because I did.

But my main gripe is how it is structured. The bonuses are all after the 3 main books, but they aren’t in chronological order. They do mostly tell you around what chapter they coincide with, but they are all over the place. I wanted to read the trilogy again, with the bonus content included. So I had to click on each bonus, and write a list of where it correlates to, reorder the list chronologically, then keep checking the list as I read the books. I found it really frustrating to the reading experience. I wish they were just interspersed through the books - with the titling and explanation that they aren’t part of the original novels.

So basically my gripe isn’t with the content at all. This series is awesome, this is my fourth re-read, and I’m still loving it and so addicted I stay up to ridiculous times at night reading.

This is a story about love, loss, and finding yourself in the chaos of a world divided.

Eve has been running her entire life and she doesn’t know why. The only thing she knows is that her mother is terrified of someone or something tracking them down. We start this story off with Eve and her mother getting on to a plane to a new town. When the plane crashes mid flight and Eve is the one of the only survivors. A year after the incident that killed her mother she gets an exclusive scholarship to a school.

I loved this story. I loved Eve and her connection to her men. In this universe you have Vitals and variants. Vitals are people who can supply light to Variants. Variants are people with special abilities like causing pain to people, super speed, or telekinesis. I loved the connection between Eve and the people around her. I was immersed in the story the entire time and loved the characters and the character development.

This story brought a fun new twist to supernatural abilities. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys supernatural academies and reverse harem novels.

An amazing series made even better!!!

If you’ve read and loved these books before then you HAVE to read the bonus scenes. They hit me all right in the feels and I was squealing in excitement over my love for these characters!

Evelyn Maynard is a series that I loved the first time I read it and loved it even more the second time. The characters are so lovable, their dynamic complex but so real. Kaydence doesn’t shy away from hard topics, her characters go through real things and express so many emotions that are completely understandable. They aren’t perfect, they mess up, and they feel so awfully low lows. But it makes the highs that much higher. The character growth and development is outstanding.

The plot is intriguing and action packed. So much happens in this trilogy and even though it deals with the supernatural, a lot of the rhetoric you see is ironically relatable.

There are so many things to love about this series. The bonus content just really made my heart happy. I still can’t stop smiling.

Amazing RH Romance!!

I started my reread of the Evelyn Maynard Trilogy 4 days ago and I forgot how much I love this story! You know it’s good when even on the third time rereading you’re still staying up until 1 AM every night because you just can’t put it down! Plus I was so excited for the extra bonus content and it was definitely worth it!

This series was one of my first ever reverse harem reads and sent me down the rabbit hole of indie authors and reverse harem romance. I just love the chemistry that Evelyn has with each of her guys-Tyler, Alec, Josh, and Ethan. That steam room scene gets better and better every time I read it 🥵🔥

All of the characters in this book have suffered losses and they really come together to make their own family. Through everything, Evelyn is fighting against her own insecurities and anxieties, but she really comes into her own by the end of the series. I can’t recommend this series enough and I really enjoyed all of the extra bonus content and extra steamy scenes!

Let me just start by saying I loved this series beyond belief! Each book drew me in even more than the one before. I began to miss ALL of the characters and their banter the second I was finished reading. A few months later, I was in a reading slump and needed something to bring me back to life, which led me to my first of two rereads of this series in 6 months. If you read and loved these books, then you will appreciate this bonus content! I could barely control my excitement when I started the first bonus scene and cried happy tears by the last bonus story! The Evelyn Maynard is a series that I will forever be in my top 5 best reads. Just stop what you are doing and go read this magical piece of work right away!

Outstanding

I loved most everything about this trilogy except for no true closure at least for me on the way Alec treated Eva.
The sleeping with Dana while he knew she was his bond hurt my heart and I couldn't believe there was no real apologies from him for it . And it totally sucked to have the best sex scene with Alec turn so damn cold and heartless 😡. He should have done more to sooth all that hurt for both her and the readers cause he was my favorite character till he did all that. Unfulfilled by his not really turning around to really be the guy who saved her and loved her all those years . How could he hurt her so cruelly when she did nothing to warrant it then shabbily make it up to her, wasn't enough .
