A cookbook that presents the little blue can in a whole new light, these flavorful SPAM® recipes are sure to keep an 80-year-old kitchen tradition alive and well, and better than ever before!
Growing up in Hawaii, SPAM was a staple in practically every household. SPAM was convenient, easy to prepare, and it was a good source of protein. Back then, SPAM was only offered in the classic flavor. There was no such thing as teriyaki, bacon, or jalapeño flavors. These days, there are a variety of flavors, including chorizo, and for the health concious, low sodium and lite.
The Ultimate SPAM Cookbook is more than a cookbook, It is a book filled with the history and manufacturing process of SPAM. Did you know that it takes about three hours to cook and cool a can of SPAM, and that the meat is cooked in the can? Filled with interesting facts and figures, I was just amazed at the amount of information contained in this book. Not only did I learn a lot about SPAM, I also got to try some delicious recipes that used a flavor other than the classic. I got to try teriyaki and bacon. What a treat it was to have the SPAM LT (using bacon flavor,) SPAM Fried Rice (using teriyaki flavor,) and the Toasted SPAM and Cheese Sandwiches.
The Ultimate SPAM Cookbook is a must have for the SPAM lover in your life. I just have to get a copy for my brother-in-law! Five stars.
I received a digital copy of the book from Fox Chapel Publishing. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
Being a child born in the 80's, Spam has featured in my diet my whole life. As a teenager, I hated the stuff as it was brought out too regularly for my liking, but now as an adult I love it. As it comes cold, fried or grilled so I thought this book would be a great way to get more ideas of what to make with it. The recipes are great, colourful and easy to follow, I love how each one has its on picture so you can see what it looks like, or should in some cases. My favourite so far has to be Spam Benedict but I intend to make my way through the book and try more.
Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
did we really need 10 different spam musubi recipes?
showed cutting the slices into thin strips and then cooking them that way. lots of slicing and dicing, but no tips on how to make the slicing and dicing the spam easier or prevent crumbling.

not sure i will ever try any of these, but it was a creative book.
I really thought that I had used Spam in many creative ways over the years. Fried rice? Of course! Toasted Spam and cheese sandwiches? Yes! Mac ‘n Cheese with Spam and peas? It’s a no-brainer! But The Ultimate Spam Cookbook has provided me with so many fresh ideas for my favorite canned meat. (Sorry, deviled ham and tuna. You’re also-rans in my taste buds’ book.)
With Spam burritos, ramen and even monkey bread, The Ultimate Spam Cookbook goes there. I’m not sure if I’m ready to try Spam Pasta Nachos or Spam PB&J but know there are a bunch of innovative recipes here that you won’t find on the All Recipes or Food Network sites. I was also surprised that Hormel makes a Spam Chorizo and a Spam Teriyaki.
With a recipe for every taste bud, you can’t miss with this cookbook. It even has pictures of each recipe. It doesn’t have nutritional information. But you’re eating Spam so you probably don’t care. 5 stars and I’m off to make the Spam Hawaiian Skillet because I luckily have the ingredients in my pantry already. Yum!
Thanks to Fox Chapel Publishing and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Starts with a background on SPAM and what it takes like and such. Then the book is broken down into sections on cooking with SPAM, like breakfast, appetizers, lunch, and dinner. Wow, there are a lot of ways to use SPAM. There are even recipes for putting it in sushi! and one for SPAM fries! I'm really hungry now and need to go eat something. Too bad I don't have any SPAM. But really, this is a nice cookbook, and each recipe has a photo and simple instructions to make it. Looks legitimately easy to make some delicious meals with SPAM. I'm going to add it to the grocery list because I want to try out some of these recipes!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I didn’t grow up eating Spam and I was quite unfamiliar with it until my mid twenties when a friend from Hawaii introduced me to the wonder that is Spam musubi. The memory of that delicious meal made me pick up this cookbook, intrigued by what else one could make with Spam. Quite a lot, it turns out!
This is a very creative cookbook with a huge variety of recipes to try. The recipes are easy to follow and include pictures (always a win in my (cook)book!), and I can’t wait to experiment with some of them.

Well, who would have ever thought there were so many recipes to be made with Spam! One of the most interesting things about this book was my learning that there are many different kinds of Spam available, from Garlic to Hawaiian to so many more! Delicious and versatile, Spam is in our pantry and will continue to be!
There are some really good looking recipes in here. I was pleasantly surprised after receiving my copy and perusing the recipes. Great photos are used as well. I also like how easy most of the recipes are to prepare. There are a lot I am looking forward to trying.
Thank you to the Commissary Shopper for sending me a copy of this book.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Fox Chabel publishing for providing me with ARC.
I love to eat so much specially when i was kid but Mum refused to buy it because it's not healthy enough for me, when i grow up, i buy it behind her back 😂😂 but when i decided to change my lifestyle, it's not fit with it specially that i am playing sport but from time to time, i eat it.
Recipes with spam. I did pick up an idea or two. Like I didn't think to use a slice of spam for a One Eye'd Jack. Some of these were so uninspired, some were pretty good. For what it is it is pretty good. Nice pictures. Good if you don't know spam from your culture..
