What’s a mercenary dragon to do when he meets a woman who makes his body surge with an energy he’s never felt before? Drake’s part of an elite group of dragon mercenaries. He’s a dragon for hire. Tara’s a senator’s daughter who’s been kidnapped and is being kept underground. Until a dragon shows up to rescue her.
A dragon!
Soon, one dragon turns into a baker’s dozen of dragons. And they’re living in a secret compound that’s more like a luxury hotel on the inside.
Then, one fight breaks out in the cafeteria and Tara learns she’s so much more than a kidnap victim. And it’s somehow tied into Drake, a guy that’s beyond hot.
This is honestly one of the worst books i have ever read.
Majority of the story were unnecessary and did not add much value or substance to the plot (which is already confusing enough). Characters are pretty lifeless and did not interest me at the very least. The supposed romance in the story is so underdeveloped with the characters just suddenly being into each other and the only connection is because they have some 'energy' linked with each other so they can feel each other's emotions, and this aspect of the story was not explained clearly at all.
The opening chapter also did not help to serve a compelling start. I had to re-read the first few pages a couple of times because i was so lost. I felt as if i was thrown in a mosh pit without an inexplicable reason or logic. Plus they never really explained why the main character was kidnapped. The reason she was save was because her Dad paid the dragons to save her and she took it pretty much as face value. And i just don't understand! What is her relationship with her family and why did they save her? WHAT WAS THE REASON?!
The major conflict / battle of the story lasted 4 pages. I kid you not, at least 60% of the story is just talking and speculation.
I know i come off as harsh in this review, but honestly i had a hard time reading through this book. I am glad i got this for free because i am sure as hell not paying for this XD
Tara is a senator's daughter so when she's kidnapped, she's sure it's so they can blackmail her father. The kidnappers don't talk to her, don't tell her anything but when she hears them talking amongst themselves about how they might have to hurt her, she starts to make a plan to escape.
Drake is a dragon shifter and part of a team of mercenaries that is hired to save Tara. But when Drake opens her door and she smacks him on the head with something she found in her tiny room, not knowing he's there to rescue her, things take a dramatic turn when he has to shift into his dragon form to fly her away from the scene.
At first Tara doesn't know that Drake is part of the rescue team and she thinks what she saw wasn't real. Drake doesn't understand why he feels so protective of Tara or why he wants to be with her even knowing that dragon shifters aren't allowed to be with humans. There's a huge plot twist that made everything more fun to read about, but I won't spoil that surprise for you.
1. I like the general story idea. = + 1 star 2. The story starts out strong and then about midway through it feels like the author started to lose momentum. = + 1 star and - 1 star 3. Sex scenes should be skipped. One of the worst insta-love scenarios I've read. = - 1 star 4. Story wrap up in the last 2 pages was rushed and to unbelievable. Spoiler.......
... .... .... ... ............... she just happens to master flight, and fighting with her powers and being okay with possibly killing someone in 3 paragraphs. = - 1 star
I love how the characters find out that they love each other. From being a hostage to finding her true love the story gives a lovely feeling of true love finding each other in the midst of a battle. Both unsure of what is happening band then falling hard for each other.
A fast paced cute plot! Kidnapped, rescued, by a what? Had she finally gone off the deep end? Hallucinating, drugged, or just plain crazy? Something strange is going on? Read and see what exciting adventures are ahead!
This is a great dragon romance. A bit of surprising twist when the rescued heroine turns out to be a fire witch. The romance is great, the big dragon reveal is fun. Just loved the entire story
When I first started reading a book I look for a Beginning a Middle and an Ending and this book didn't have any of that What do we know about the parents of the girl who have been kidnapped and second how do she go from the victim to a dragon in a day Just Nope not for me
A real treat to read! Non-stop action from the moment you start reading to the very end. I literally couldn't put it down, I was drawn in and held captive until the very end. Thanks for sharing Ava Benton!
A good storyline thats just north of normal. Characters that can easily be built upon and no doubt each one has their own story. If your looking for something to while away a few hour's then read this.
Short story. I liked the new angle of elementals and how drake was drawn to Tara. Cool story. Needed a little more fleshing out for the characters but nothing crazy considering it was short. Interesting.
First it was a bit interesting, I wonder what happened to that nervous abductor. Her parents especially her mother, later it explained more understanding the reasons.
Epilogue I am glad this have one but that doesn’t give too much details.
A simple and easy read about a lady learning she is something more than she thought she was. A security team with unusual talents. Plus a new found talent and love. Some twists along the way makes this book worth while to read.
It’s really a cute short and sweet book about dragons. I love paranormal books about shifters so dragons are right up there in my top three. Was an interesting story with interesting characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Holy shiznet!!! What a gr8 story. Getting kidnapped, finding out there are dragons, and being saved by them is what happens to Tamara. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up
Cute short story with interesting little secrets to be found out. Characters have super personalities. More dragons to show up in the next book. Fun read
What was this? Completely unbelievable. Rushed and undeveloped. Where was the plot? Things just turned out way too convenient, nothing was worked for. No thanks.
