Just reading out the end of this series since I've come so far and the next volume is the conclusion. Things are bleak for the girls as they are hunted by a mysterious military force as well as the zombies that have overrun Japan. Will we get a bloodbath or a happy ending next time? Will the creators be able to make me care? Seems unlikely at this point.
The Randall Corp/Randall Council storyline was losing me for a bit, and I did find it annoying that the group has to leave the new area and go back to their van so quickly after getting somewhere. I did like seeing the conversation about how to avoid being stressed/terrified during this, as the emotional toll of everything that’s happened is of course a big part of each arc but not always directly discussed. As per usual, my heart broke for Kurumi; seeing her struggle between trying to live as long as she can before the virus takes her and wanting to die before she turns is so dark but interesting to see. Shiiko being the one to control the smart phone that gave answers/advice was also a cool reveal that was worth the brief wait to get to. Her death was so gruesome and chilling to see from her perspective but happened so quietly and it stands out as one of the most interesting deaths in the series to me. I could not believe that they had Miki possibly kill Kei either; it had been so long since Miki thought about her and I didn’t think they’d bring that back this late.Miki crying alone in the mall at the end is one of the saddest moments in a series full of sad moments. This volume surprised me with the amount of emotional plot lines and violent ones; it felt more like one of the earlier issues which I really appreciated and I’m glad I stuck with these through some of the rougher volumes to get to here.

Since I read these as the chapters get translated (though I did read up a bit as it has been a long time since the first chapter of this volume) I will write a short review. So, I read that the next volume will be the last one, I can say that I am happy. I feel the story has been dragged on too long. I know I am now just reading to find out what happens to our quartet, to Kurumi, while back in the beginning I was truly invested in the story. I am at least glad our quartet is out in the world again, trying to survive, trying to stay away from the military/bad people, trying to find a way to safety. Plus, that we find out a few things here and there. I also like that we see other people's POV. But yeah, I will be happy when this series is over. Such a shame, it had a strong start.
If Kurumi is a survivor that was cured....why does she seem to be getting weaker? And how was she cured if what Shiiko said in her memo was true and the cure was pretty much just vitamins and nutrients? How do only 3 of them seem to be immune? I don't see how they are going to wrap this up in only 2 more volumes....

The next volume will be the last?! And with how this one ended? I don't have a good feeling... This volume was spelling out a lot of trouble that seems to have no end for the main cast. I'm really rooting for them, and on edge about what could happen next. As always, I'm really interested in the art style and the story, so if you want some zombie/friendship plot, why did you wait this long to read reviews? Pick up the first book and get to reading! :D
