Your child is the detective, and it's up to them to find and interpret clues. Each Timmi Tobbson Junior adventure is divided into short chapters that end with a puzzle to be solved. Clues to the mystery are concealed both within the story and in the colorful illustrations, allowing children to combine information from different sources (text and illustrations) and make logical deductions. This hand-on approach trains kids' problem-solving capabilities and adds a certain level of immersion to the reading experience.

What a fun book this could be for kids! It has easy puzzles to solve that are part of the story. Some things are a bit far-fetched as an adult reading this. Would anyone really give a kid an ancient book for them to look at? A book that should be kept in a climate-controlled room and only handled carefully with special gloves? If a hole opens up in the middle of a floor, wouldn't all the kids rush inside to see what was there? These issues would probably go over a kid's head though.

My 7 year old loved reading this and is able to read it by himself. The solve-it-yourself picture puzzles were fun and not too challenging. We’re reading the whole series now, including the ones for older readers (which I read out loud, but doesn’t seem too challenging for 2nd grade reading level) and have really enjoyed them all. The Young Explorers series keeps the attention span of my 5 year old better than the older series, but we have fun with them all! The illustrations are also awesome. Very dynamic and fun to look through for clues.

Pre-read this for my 2nd grader’s forthcoming homeschool year. Boy did this pack a punch! This was an EXCELLENT first novel for young readers (advanced young readers). It had mystery, intrigue, suspense, lovable characters! I truly enjoyed every minute of it! My daughter who loves math and science is going to love this! There is a lot of logic, solve the mystery, interactive elements to this book. I bought the three box set and I’m really glad I did! Very engaging!

My 9 year old really enjoys these books, andI like how they help hone the skills of observation and deductive reasoning. The writing isn't that great, but it's more about the "clues" and adventure than it is about the literary robustness; therefore, I'm willing to look past the lackluster prose. My son enjoys figuring out mysteries and this series is perfect for him!

An easily read book that was actually engaging enough for a grown-up yet simple enough for younglings. This is the start of the series and has illustrations that hide the clues to solving the mystery yet it has clues in the back in case you need help to see the clue. Interesting facts and tips for detectives are featured in the back are a bit simple but fun.

Read through this to see if my kids would be interested. I think this was a well-structured novel with age appropriate puzzles. Illustrations are clean and on-point for a mystery story. I’m glad this is a series so that we can continue on if they end up liking the format!

A mí hijo de 8 años y a mí nos ha encantado. Son capítulos cortos con un buen tamaño de letra para poder leer. Además, cada capítulo cuenta con un enigma para resolver.

Das erste Rätselabenteuer von Timmi und seinen Freunden wird flink und spannend erzählt. In den Augen meiner Nichte hat man beim Lesen viel Spaß. Warum? Das erfährst du unten im Text.
Meine Meinung zum Cover:
Auf dem Cover sind Timmi und seine zwei Freunde Lilli und Marvin zu sehen, wie sie aus einer steinernen Türe herauskommen. Wenn man ganz genau hinschaut, erkennt man nach dem Lesen, welche Szene hier aus der Geschichte gezeigt wird. Die Zeichnung ist liebevoll mit Details versehen.
Meine Meinung zum Inhalt:
Ich habe das Buch gemeinsam mit meiner 8-jährigen Nichte gelesen. Wir lagen auf der Couch und sie lauschte gebannt meinem Vorlesen. Für sie war die Geschichte so spannend, dass sie keine Pause machen wollte. Aus diesem Grund lasen wir die 96 Seiten in einem Rutsch. Zwischendurch beschäftigten wir uns natürlich mit den Rätseln, welche in regelmäßigem Abstand integriert wurden.
Die Geschichte ist mit einfachen Worten direkt und einfach beschrieben. Das erste Kapitel begann mit Timmi zu Hause der von seinem Bruder etwas erfährt, dass ihn sehr neugierig machte. Kurz darauf begann ein Schulausflug, seine Freunde und ihn eine große Überraschung mit Rätseln mit sich brachte. Es gefiel mir, dass das Geschehen locker erzählt wurde und es keine ausschweifenden Beschreibungen gab. So schritt es flott voran und erzeugte keine Langeweile. 7-9 Jahre halte ich für das perfekte Alter, um das Buch zu lesen. Man kann es vorlesen oder die Kinder selbst lesen lassen. Jedenfalls sollten sie bereits Textverständnis haben, da sie für die Rätsel benötigt wird. Oft sind auch die Illustrationen notwendig, um jene zu lösen. Meine Nichte tat sich etwas schwer damit, hatte jedoch beim Raten großen Spaß.
Die drei Freunde halten zusammen, verstehen sich und ergeben dadurch ein gutes Team. Als kleines Nebenelement fanden wir Froschi total süß. Der Verlauf brachte ein paar Wendungen, welche die Ereignisse aufregender machten. Die Freunde kamen an verschiedene Orte, an denen es Aufgaben und Rätsel zu lösen galt. Dabei erfuhren sie ein wichtiges Geheimnis und Timmi erkannte, von was sein Bruder so geheimnisvoll gesprochen hatte. Meine Nichte hörte mir über die gesamte Vorlesezeit aufmerksam zu. Nachdem das Abenteuer zu Ende war, wendeten wir uns dem Wissen für Entdecker zu. Dort lernten wir z.B. etwas über geheime Gassen, alte Bücher und die Spiegelschrift. Danach befand sie ein Abschnitt aus dem „Backalley Eins Handbuch für Abenteurer und Detektive“. Dort erfährt man hilfreiche Dinge über die Spurensuche, Geheimzeichen und kleine Experimente zum Nachmachen.
Die Illustrationen auf jeder Doppelseite schaute sich meine Nichte genau an. Sie konnte sich damit das Geschehen leichter vorstellen, da es im Text doch viele Informationen. Die Rätsel wurden auf diese Weise lebendig, da man sie mit dem Text allein nicht lösen kann. Die Bilder müssten betrachtet werden, damit man auf die Lösung kommt. Alle Illustrationen wurden mit schönen Details versehen und sind mit Liebe gezeichnet worden. J. G. Ratti steckte sehr viel Zeit und Aufwand hinein.
Durch zwei Rätsel im Buch kann man nach dem Lösen mit den Codes Bonusmaterial auf der Timmi Tobbson Webseite aufrufen. Wir haben z.B. nun ein Abzeichen, welches und bestätigt, dass wir alle Rätsel gelöst haben.

Der erste Band der Timmi Tobbson Rätselabenteuer Junior Reihe startete mit einem aufregenden Abenteuer, dass sogleich spannend ist und Neugierde weckt. Mit verschiedenen Rätseln kamen die Freunde ans Ziel, die die Kinder beim Lesen selbst enträtseln können. Auf der Folgeseite werden sie stehts aufgelöst. Meiner 8-jährigen Geschichte gefiel das Buch sehr gut. Sie hörte mir still und aufmerksam zu und hatte Spaß bei den Rätseln, auch wenn sie manchmal etwas schwer für sie waren. Der Text in mit einfachen Worten direkt und locker geschrieben. Mit ein bisschen Textverständnis werden die Kinder beim Lesen gut vorankommen. Die vielen doppelseitigen Illustrationen untermalen den Lesespaß und werden für die Rätsel gebraucht. Sie sind liebevoll gezeichnet und mit Details versehen.
