3.5 "Still, her hair has always glittered to gold...she's like the moon."
Slowly but surely everything is starting to come together. This series is definitely a grower as it starts off with a lot of action, then it attempts to do a mystery but with the large cast of characters, it is sometimes hard to follow. And when the focus isn't always on Anzai, it can be difficult to care.
Best volume by far! This series gets better and better 💖 And I dont think I've hated a villain with such passion in so long but Kikuhara.... He needs to fall into a dark whole and be trapped forever, he's so manipulative and cunning but super interesting at the same time. I need the next volume, like right now 😂
Side note: Thank you Ryo Hanada for finally including a character guide at the beginning, I could finally get my head around everyone! 😂
Solid volume. We had some cute fluff, some major plot points, mystery, and some really fucking sad and depressing parts. I am really glad I picked this series up because I am really loving it.
pretty critical how down bad i am for ishimaru's pathetic ass. also the artist clearly thinks he the hottest chara cause have you SEEN how they draw him???? 😮💨
Oooh-kay, the art is back to being a little funky again but not soo much in important scenes, so it's acceptable. Kikuhara is...very, very driven and goal based. I think that even if he allowed himself the capacity for love, I think he’d still turn his nose up at it. He can’t love, the feeling isn’t there for anyone, nor should it be if he is to be smart and effective about accomplishing his goals. But even so... the story with him and Nanako... is so bittersweet. He saved her, but because of who he is and how he is, the best direction they could go in from there was to use her, when he said "be by my side." I think he truly does care for her meaningfully. But there is a grand difference between loving someone and caring for them meaningfully. Both are vague, true, but both also have very different implications. As for Nanako falling in love with him... Honestly, I probably would have too, just like her. Taking into account his warnings to not fall for him, but doing so anyway. To have undergone any sort of child molestation or...what she had to undergo...a man who can say he doesn't feel sexual desire suddenly becomes a million times more attractive than the rest. Speaking of which... I'm also kind of disgusted now that I realize that Nanako was nearly molested, on top of everything else we knew. No wonder she's so fucked in the head and still dealing with her demons. AAAND I KNEW THE NEW CAPTAIN WAS A SNAKE!! They really make you want to believe him though, everything he does, maybe even start to like him a little. But nah, HE A SNAKE. Anzai and Tsukasa are as cute as ever btw, though their romance FELT CUT SO SHORT. Well, everything felt cut short. Why is that, I wonder? The short story with Jill and Sawazaki is something to soothe the soul amidst the warring chaos in the rest of the story as of right now. Poetry and elegant visuals... it's so pleasing. It's going nowhere, but I still like to see their cute dynamics. And there is even romance budding between 11 and 06, I think... He's going to turn on Kikuhara to protect her...and probably end up killed. I hope they both get away and join Nanako and 09. Though it's spooky how new recruits are going to be pouring in, GOOD ones, with influence. And not only that but the fact that there are currently 3+ sleeper agents... We've only met one so far. So spoopy. Well, excitedly on to the next one!

Devils' Line, Vol. 6 is an emotional rollercoaster, and I loved every second of it. The stakes are getting so much higher, both in the world of devils vs. humans and in Anzai and Tsukasa’s relationship. Anzai’s struggle with his identity and control is more intense than ever, and watching him navigate that while trying to protect the people he loves is heart-wrenching. Meanwhile, Tsukasa continues to prove she’s not just a love interest—she’s strong in her own way, and her unwavering support for Anzai makes their bond feel so real.
The action and political drama in this volume are next level. The deeper we go into the corruption and conspiracies, the more hooked I am. The artwork? Absolutely stunning, especially in those emotionally charged moments that just hit differently. If you’ve made it this far in the series, this volume will not disappoint—it’s packed with tension, romance, and so much growth for the characters. Five stars—this series just keeps getting better, and I need to see what happens next!
The plot is more developed in this one. It is getting more intense as we learn Ishimaru is really a spy (just how I thought in vol. 5) and we see that Anzai is learning something he never thought about and why Zero 2 is an important guy to Anzai past after all. There is even the cuties stuff still included that makes for a light touch to this book that is just a reminder that it is not just all secretive stuff and police work, Zero 7 and Zero 9 are on board and we learn more of the zero system. To say the least I think I get why there are blank in the spots. The worms in the forces are strong.
Overall the art and dialogue are up to par. Very interesting read ad glad I have the next volume next to me.
The pressure keeps building as we see more and more dominos topple chaotically outward from where our story originally started. Anzai has started the practice of familiarizing himself with his Devil instincts in order to keep Tsukasa safe. Transforming continues to dredge up forgotten ghosts for Anzai, the meaning behind it all still just out of his reach. Meanwhile, Anzai and his squad must tread carefully during the gathering unrest aimed towards Devils. Growing hostility towards Devils has all but sent Anzai and other Devils into hiding. We also learn more about the tragic events that drove Zero Seven into the CCC as she and Zero Nine begin to interact more and more with our main character group.
What interested me the most is the interactions between Anzai and Ishimaru as the latter forces Anzai into a mock battle making him stretch his limits and his control around blood (and all for reasons Anzai doesn't see) There was a lot of interesting backstory in this volume as well.
The villains and motivations continue to grow and deepen. This isn't a fast moving manga but the story has depth. I'm enjoying it.

Anzai and Taira and Lee and everybody else we like on F Squad, including the new Ishimaru track down Zero Seven and Zero Nine as tensions rise with civil unrest. Meanwhile, Zero Seven confronts her past and her feelings about Kikuhara (which are extremely complicated) and Anzai realizes that he also has dark forgotten history with Kikuhara.
And among the CCC, loyalties are cracking. Too many secrets! I WANNA KNOW!
I am still invested in this series and somehow the volumes never make me want to give them more than three stars and don't get me wrong I like the characters, and I am interested in the plot, but something is missing. I can't wait to see what happens next (unfortunately I will have to purchase the next volumes because sadly they are not included in my kindle unlimited subscription :( ) LFG Tsukasa and Anzai, at this point I also support Nanako bffrb.
Revisiting the manga after 5ish(?) years. Every thing about it is right up my alley. Supernatural-esque, “bad boy”/“dark” type male character, a bit of romance, a bit of violence.
Another one that feels like it’s coasting, the action has slowed down a bit as they’re continuing to grow the other elements of the story.
Love this series but this one wasn’t as exciting as previous installments. It gave me a lot of general what’s going on which I enjoyed but that big cliff hanger has me so ready to read the next volume. Plus I knew our new head detective was going to be part of the ccc. I’m devastated because I love him UGH. Maybe he’s a double crosser on the ccc but probably not.

I love this series so much. Anzai and Tsukasa are just so cute! I ship them so hard. I am also glad that the author started putting a character guide at the beginning of each volume. It helps me keep some of the characters straight. I am so glad I have the next 3 volumes ready to go.
This series had me hook, line and suckered from the first book in the series. It took me a minute to realize which characters were which just because some of the art styles of the male characters were so similar, but as you read it gets much easier! Highly recommend.
Literally every character in this is a huge dork but they all refuse to admit it except for Hans Lee, the greatest character to ever exist. I’m very much making this sound like a light read and though it can be silly at times, it’s pretty serious and dark. Loving it.
