CALLIE

A lesson I’ve learned since enrolling at Briarcliff Academy: If you don’t join forces with their elite society, you will be ruined.
I didn’t join. I rebelled.
They couldn’t break me how they wanted.
And now, they’re after me for what I know.
Worse, they're ordering Chase, the boy who helped me uncover their terrible sins, to exact their revenge.
He won’t, because he cares about me.
We’ve been together in this from the beginning, despite the edicts he was raised on and the society he was groomed to follow.
But will our love be strong enough to break the bonds of his sordid history?

THE NOBLES & VIRTUES

Ha. Your move, Callie.

FIEND is the stunning, angst-ridden continuation of the Briarcliff Secret Society Series and contains enemies-to-lovers, bullying, and other mature themes and scenes. Recommended for readers 17 and over. It is NOT a standalone and ends on a cliffhanger.

I loveeeed Fiend. This story was sexy and full of twists and turns. There were so many times where my jaw hit the floor in shock. I loved Chase and Callie and their chemistry but I will admit that Chase and his hot and cold emotions made me wish Callie could find some sort of distraction (*wink*) just to shake his cold ice cold veneer! Now onto Reign! ~Ratula ❤

Before I begin my review for Fiend (Briarcliff Secret Society book three) by Ketley Allison, I would personally like to thank the author, publishers and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.

Spoiler Warning!
My review contains minor spoilers from books 1 and 2. Please don't read any further if you haven't yet read them.

Its time to head back for another intense term at Briacliff Academy. Callie is determined to destroy the Nobles and Virtues, and she may just have her chance. Submerge yourself into brutal revelations as Callie and her friends dig deeper into the secret scandals of Briacliff's secret societies.

Fiend features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ Bully romance
○ Secret societies
○ Manipulation
○ Dark romance
○ New adult
○ Boarding school

My overall rating for Fiend is…

4.5 Stars!

The race to the finale of Fiend was frantic and fierce. Book 3 revealed some dark secrets and I am not OK! Allison has weaved an intense storyline with this series and it's one hell of a painful yet passionate ride. Overall, the book was well written with just the right amount of angst and mystery.

These books straight up gave me trust issues. One minute everything was fine and going toward the plan and then BAM! You get hit from the side and get taken out by something you never expected. The twists and turns in these books always kept me on my toes. You don’t know who is on what side, you never know who will randomly show up in the plot, and you never really know if someone really is who they are they are. The mystery throughout each of these books are what kept me so hooked. Not going to lie when I first started this book I didn’t think I was going to like the FMC, Callie, but over time she showed how strong and badass she was. There were times where I felt like she gave in too easily or forgave too easily but this girl went through a lot and she still keeps fighting. The MMC, Chase, is your classic arrogant, jerk, but the more you get to know him you see the reasons for his actions and you see his true heart slowly come through even though he still makes decisions that are slightly questionable. Overall I enjoyed these books and I can’t wait until the fourth one comes out because that ending wrecked me! These books will always keep you in suspense giving so many questions after each chapter. Worth the read!

OMG...what a plot! So many twists and turns its hard to keep up! I think I'm still digesting all the secrets that came to light...and wondering what more can be revealed? I just don't trust anyone anymore, I couldn't tell you who the good guys are???
I was reading well into the early hours because this story was so addictive, I couldn't put it down....I really need the next book like.....now!!

If your a fan of dark, twisted bully romances, full of lies, deception and suspense then you need to start this series!!

This is my honest review after receiving an ARC from the writer.

Starting where Virtue left off, this is the third book in the series and they HAVE to be read in order. Wow, the story really took off in this one, secrets, information and developments hitting us from all sides, and some were doozies! As Callie gathers more and more information and background on the Virtues, are her friends truly friends or out to betray her? This one ends again with a dramatic cliffhanger, but we won’t have to wait too long for the final book to release in February.

I loved this book and can’t wait for Reign to be released!

And the story continues. I have learned my limit for a continuous storyline of the same plot is 3 books before my irritation kicks in.

The story is good, no doubt, I just find myself getting very irritated by it. I’m irritated with the hero, I’m irritated with the “best friend”, I’m irritated that no one seems to have any type of backbone aside from the heroine. Even though I know why they act this way it still just makes me mad. So. Here I am. Left with another cliffhanger and waiting for book 4.

When you order the soap opera passions off of wish and sprinkle in a little Nancy drew and the TV show Riverdale, you get whatever horse shite this book is.

It’s probably the strongest of the three so far but that’s not a real accomplishment and isn’t saying much. The final twists were unexpected but honestly, this just seems like someone trying to write the dustiest uber villain which is almost funny but I don’t think that’s the authors intention.

Secrets Revealed, Friends Lives in Danger, Evil Villainess, Campus Setting

In “FIEND” Briarcliffe book three-

We find Callie delving further into the history of the “ Noble’s” & the “Virtues “
Still trying to uncover the secrets that these Societies hold, & also what, if anything, it has to do with her mother’s death.

As she gathers together her group of friends -
Ivy
Eden
And
Emma

Her research gets a boast when she is asked to become an initiate for the secretive Virtues. ( she’s finally got her wish )

The female equivalent of the Nobles.

This calls for her to be put through a series of tests, as her inquisitive mind draws her further, and further into this dark world.

With her boyfriend Chase, & the thought of more information forthcoming from Ivy, the Virtues new “Princess”

Plus! Chases sister disfigured sister Emma, and the quiet, bullied, Eden, Callie eventually get her hands on a very serious document that will signal a paradigm shift of EPIC proportions.

Unfortunately, the discovery of this new piece of information will not work out well for everyone in Callie circle of friends.

While Callie takes hit, after hit, with all these new revelations, her relationship with Chase also gets more intense.

But. Nobles and Virtue alike do not approve as the two lovebirds are ordered to stay away from each other.

Okay.☝️
As much as I’m loving this series, it is turning a little into the “ Perils of Callie”

How will she get herself out of THIS next mess?

Several chapters in, & all the crap Callie got put through with her,so called, “friends”, is all resolved with them all having their koombya moment.

Chase is forgiven
Emma is forgiven
Eden is forgiven
Ivy, in a big cry fest, is forgiven.

Why?

Well, they all have bigger fish to fry.
Takedown of the Virtue’s

Yep! This is the book where i might have to hand in my Callie fan club card.

It may well be the moment where I realise Callie, who I adored in the first book, has dropped the ball the further we get into this series.

Her obsession with Chase.
( with his magic tongue, the provider of orgasms )

It’s consuming large chunks of the story now, and things, just ever so slightly, are drifting away from the central plot, as the author sets up plot scenarios for Callie and Chase.

Meet up’s p.
We go through several pages of them humping each other.

When that’s not happening, Callie has great difficulty stopping her sex brain from THINKING about jumping on Chases “ D”

Callie is in her element plot wise, here, in her efforts to bring down the messed up group of over privileged girls from within their ranks, has come to pass.

However.
She is still only at the beginning of the process.

She soon finds out that some of the tasks assigned to her in order to continue, just may have her questioning her decision.

However, nothing is going to dissuade her from her course of action, to the point where it almost threatens her relationships.

There was so much, plot wise in this book that was being telegraphed way before it happened

Like, Callie becoming an initiate because, the Nobles have to pick one as a soulmate.

Who do you think this was aimed at?🤔

Not to mention the turn it took when Callie and Chase found the birth certificate.🤔

There were little Easter eggs throughout this series that pointed to this scenario.

As far as Callie and Chase are concerned

This is the book that broke me…

CAN WE STOP WITH ALL THE OVER THE TOP DESCRIPTIVE OF HOW AMAZINGLY “ GOD LIKE” CHASE LOOKS!!!

His SMELL! ..

But it doesn’t stop at Chase

“Chase, Tempest, Riordan, and heck, even James, are carved from beauty, their movie star faces mixing with pro-athlete bodies.”

ENOUGH!!!

Yeah…
I think we’ve got it by now.
There are all genetically gifted.

Not to mention.

In every book worth is salt of being called “ Dark Bully Romance “ there is always that one big major “ Event”

Be it Homecoming, Graduation, or a random large ( normally sports related ) celebratory party for the school.
In this story we have the

“Winter Formal”

And! ..
Of COURSE it’s going to be a “ masked ball”.
( Cue the sneaking around.)

Can I just say, Callie’s clinginess was an issue for me in this book also.

When these two argue or, find themselves out manoeuvre in yet another foiled plan, Callie always has trouble saying goodbye.
She constantly has to reaffirm to herself, & Chase just how much she loves him.
Always grabbing his arm, or touching him, having the last word.

It becomes aggravating.

Her NEED to constantly be touched, or get validation from Chase is extremely annoying, not the sassy girl from the first book.

So as thus instalment winds down,

We are left with the revelation about the

A” Virtue Queen” …
No surprise for guessing who THIS turns out to be

How..what...oh my....just what??!!!!!!!!
WOW!
Literally i have no flipping words!!! How can a person even think up a story like that?!
From the very beginning, when i was reading, literally my heart was tugging so much it was hurting and never ever EVER had a book had an effect like THIS book did!I thought at first that rival was my fav book but NO! (sorry rival and virtue :/) but fiend is the one! it won my heart! it had me gasping for breath and it made me hold my breath so many times it was unbelievable! i wasn't able to do anything properly until i finished reading! Callie is such a wonderful woman and I love her and chase (obviously what's not to love!) but i kinda also love Emma. Her perseverance and her strength after going through what she's gone through and being able to mask her emotions into a facade is exceptional and very brave of her to do! And what a b@#?% Sabine is! (sorry!) but man she had me screaming at my kindle!
I was in tears in the end reading this and I absolutely cannot wait for reign! Im sitting here on my sofa waiting for the next book! (lol)
If your reading this, im saving a LOT of spoilers for you so you can just go and read this book right away because i assure you, you will be blown away! I was - so trust me! READ IT!!
Enjoy

What a wild ride! Just when you think the series can't get better, it does. Fiend is wonderfully written, completely captivating, intense, and unpredictable; it grabs you and doesn't let go. The characters are phenomenal, and the premise is fascinating, a high school romance and a secret society shrouded in secrets and mysteries. Callie is hunting for information and investigating the Virtues; the road ahead is tough, and she'll need to deal with more drama, deception, and even betrayal. And let's not forget, truths carry a weight of their own and can be devastating. As for the romance element, Callie and Chase are adorable; their relationship is constantly growing, and I love them together. I really hope they get their happy ending! This one ends with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, and I'm so glad the fourth book is already out.

Another outstanding performance by Addison Barnes. I can't imagine anyone else narrating the series; she literally brings the characters to life and makes the story more engaging. Kudos to both Ketley Allison and Addison Barnes. The series is fantastic, and they make an exceptional team. I'm definitely recommending this audiobook and the Briarcliff Secret Society series.

OMG, this ending had my jaw on the floor. At first I was ticked because I was left with so many questions unanswered and thought it was the end of the series. When I found out there was going to be a book 4, I was so relieved. I need the next book like NOW.

I cried ugly tears at the end of this book. I won't say why so I don't spoil it, but I was mentally not ok with the ending :'( There are so many twists and turns in this series that it's hard to keep up and let me tell you that I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. Just when I think I have it figured out, I'm thrown for a loop.

I love Callie and I am in love with Callie and Chase's chemistry. They are exactly what each other needs. I both hate and love that she can't trust anyone (even Chase as of right now). But also, I'm learning to love her relationship with her stepmom. I hope to see more of that in the final book :)

This is my first time reading this author, but it DEF won't be my last.

Read this series. You won't regret it. Get started now before Reign comes out because you'll need time to wrap your mind around everything that's happened in the first 3 books before you jump into the last one.

Ummmmm WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!!! Omg this book series just keeps getting crazier and crazier and I just keep coming back for more. I’m borderline obsessed with this series and it just keeps getting better with each book! With each new page, comes more drama, more mystery, more suspense and it is SO ADDICTING!

The secret societies of this series are so amazingly complex and very intriguing. With each book they get more and more twisted and complicated and I only want more and more. I’m like Bruce from Matilda with the chocolate cake, I couldn’t stop reading! I literally inhaled this book. There are so many amazing plot twists and insane wide turns. I could never tell who was telling the truth and who was playing a part..... It made my brain explode at certain points. I really really REALLY enjoyed it!

Callie really grew on me during this book and she FINALLY GREW A BACKBONE!!!! I was cheering from the rooftops when she got it together and decided she wasn’t going to take anyone’s crap ANYMORE! The ending of book three was a true smack in the face and I am desperate to know how this series concludes!

Jaw Dropping!!

Thats the only words I can think of to describe how amazing of a roller coaster ride this whole book...hell the whole series has been.

Fiend was hands down my favorite of this series so far. Many questions I had were answered. Some where left unanswered and now after reading Fiend I have so many more.

Callie really showed her strength in this book. With all the secret that could break her she held on and keep pushing forward. Chase...I love him! He proved his loyalty in a big way.

I want them to get their HEA with everything they have gone through they deserve it.

And that ending!!!!!! I did not see that coming. There were many times throughout this book I had my jaw on the floor but that ending left me completely speechless. It does sort of end on a cliffhanger which means we get another book!!! I cant wait for it!! Im keeping my fingers crossed a certain person gets what is coming to them!

Ketley is a amazing author and she proves it with each book. This might be her best to date!

FINALLY! AN IMPROVEMENT! and A LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS DARK TUNNEL!

The plotline was more engaging in this book. The gangs (Callie, Chase, Ivy, Emma, and Eden) finally uncovered some of the secrets. Yet, they were still outsmarted by Sabine and her Virtues. The woman was downright evil, there was no other way nor another word more suitable for her.

I love how Callie & Chase's relationship grew here. In the first book, they were enemies who fell into bed fuelled by lust. They couldn't sever the connection or attraction between them though. The push and pull they did during the whole book frustrated the hell out of me. They were like one step ahead then instantly back 10 steps. So, the fact that Chase backed Callie openly this time was a relief for me.

Now, THAT SCENE! O M G! LIKE WHAT?!
I couldn't believe what I read!! How... and why... and omgggg my heart hurt...

Could of been great

First I should say I do love the story it’s self it kept me on edge and has had me riding an emotional roller coaster since the start of the series and I will definitely be reading the next book. With that there were many typos throughout this book. Another issue I had and can’t get passed is they are MCs are referenced to be freshmen but they are also to be graduating in the spring the book is set in winter. At one point in the book there is a mention of sophomores meaning higher grade then them even tho the characters are aged 18-19 years old. Another point in the book the twin sister of one of the main characters talks about her being a senior. Through the book though the group is referenced to be in their freshman year. I could understand a couple discrepancies but this was an on going occurrence of mix matched labeling throughout the entire book.

First of all this series is just absolutely amazing. When I started the series this was totally not what I expected, BUT it has definitely exceeded my expectations. The secret society and mystery aspects of it are definitely what kept me so hooked. You have no idea what’s going to happen next or what to expect. And the PLOT TWISTS! Like I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with so many good plot twists. They were all so incredible and unexpected. They literally left me gaping at the book (multiple times) I’ve felt betrayed so many time because of the characters and the book definitely gave me trust issues, but like in a good way so it’s okay. And Callie and Chase are just so freakin adorable together. I can’t wait to see them together and happy once everything is settled down. In conclusion if you have not read this series yet, GO READ IT RIGHT NOW!

The thing I love about this series is that it puts me in a frame of mind that is like when you watch a horror film. You simultaneously want to cover your eyes, but you can't NOT look, you know?
Callie goes through so much. From beginning to end, the blows just keep coming. And her allies are an uncertainty, the secrets and betrayals just pile up and each revelation is a new blow.
New players come to light and some are rather unexpected.
Callie and Chase are closer than ever, but also, they were never so far apart...
Can't wait to see how this series ends and hat Callie will still have to endure in order to graduate... Or if she even gets there.

**ARC kindly provided in return for an honest review**

When I started this series I was apprehensive because I wasn’t into bully or high school novels. I have it a chance because I knew Ketley was a stand out author.

Fiend is the third book in the Brise Cliff Series that follows Callie’s journey and her rebellion from a secret society. There are so many twists and turns, the plot is never ever going to go where you think. It is exquisitely written, and still has me hooked three books in to a trope I actively avoid.

If you are ever going to give a bulky/high school novel a go, then this is the one to start with. You just might find yourself changing your mind on the trope - Ketley is just that good!

The angst and drama was definitely brought in this book. I can’t express how much these books are straight up page turners. This series has consumed me. Every book is better written than the last. There isn’t a point where it drags or you feel the author is just putting in unnecessary things to make the story longer. Every word has a purpose. Every character written has a purpose. This ride with Callie and Chase is twisted and sexy and so worth it to get to the conclusion. I can honestly say when the next and final book comes out I have no idea where it is going to take us. And Ivy. Omg Ivy. My heart broke. I cried and totally didn’t see that coming. And this book was life.

This book in the Briarcliff Secret Society series is in my opinion where the most secrets are revealed, and plot twists occur. Callie finds out shocking revelations about her past and how the people she thought she could trust and were the closest to her actually knew and kept those revelations from her. As a reader you really start to see Callie become stronger and more determined to take down the ones who have wronged her. She is far from the shy timid and naive girl from book one. Chase has his own battles he is struggling with including doing what he thinks will keep Callie safe, despite her insistent will to always put herself in danger. Definitely worth reading this series. I hope to find ones similar to this series once I am finished.

Fiend is suspenseful and secretive as the fist two books in this series are and yes they HAVE to be read in order and it’s sooo worth it! Secret societies are my jam and this one has two and oh boy do we get to see how these Virtues work and let’s just say they aren’t a friendly bunch of ladies! Callie is so strong and continues to grow I absolutely love her!!
The writing is really good and the dialogue is realistic the author portrays these high school kids just right and I love it!!!

This installment of the Briarcliff Secret Society Series starts right where book 2 leaves off. Chase and Callie's relationship is still up and down, but we find ut more about the Virtues. Honestly the first half of the book was a challenge to read and was a rehash in so many ways. But if you manage to get through that, there was some big surprises in store for Callie. The pace finally picks up, you have some great twists, but this series needs to come to an end soon. I'm good for one more book.

Another rollercoaster ending on a cliff!

Ahhh! My nails can't handle anymore. I need the end of this story!
My only concern with this series is the timing. The founding of this elite boarding school is clearly stated to be 1920 many times. Then every time they mention the founders actions or thoughts they say it happened in the nineteenth century, or hundreds of years ago, or something equally wrong and confusing. Other than the passage of time in this book, I love this series.

This is the 3rd book in this awesome series and Callie continues to gather more information and background about the “Virtues”, and she does not know who to trust anymore as she wonders if her friends are actually friends or foe. Chase is ordered by the society to extract revenge against Callie, but will he act on this order? This is a well written story which is dark and intense, and filled with angst, secrets, twists, lies, betrayal, bullying, deception, suspense, and enemies / lover’s scenario. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.

Great Book

I really don’t know what to make of Chase if I’m honest as one minute he is there and the next he is beside the Nobles & Virtues acting like what they are doing is just so normal.
I already guessed who Callie was a defendant of but I’m torn on how Sabine has so much control of the Nobles right now.
Let’s see how this plays out as I’m determined to know if she brings them all crashing down or removes Sabine.
I knew Ivy would be the choice as I don’t think even Sabine is stupid enough to go after Chase and have Daniel on her case with the rest of the nobles.

Once again we are kept on the edge of our seats, unable to put down or step away as this plot unfolds! This reader again read through the night hanging on the edge of my seat for the next twist! The characters draw you into their world and the anxiety as each moment unfolds will not disappoint!

I am a sucker for a secret society book, and with this one, you get two societies. I love this series, it's different from others I have read. The secrets, lies, revelations, twists, they just keep coming and coming and coming. I have so many unanswered questions and so many speculations. What is going to happen next? What other twists could possibly be thrown at us? I need more Callie and Chase in my life! The fourth and final book, Reign, should be out next month. Fingers crossed.
