When I wake up at a female auction in a world I don’t recognize, all I can think about is getting back home to Texas. I want absolutely nothing to do with a realm called Valora, magic, faeries, or being sold to the highest bidder.
But the Day Realm king has other plans.
Zander says I’m his fated mate. I don’t believe him. That doesn’t stop him from tricking me into marrying him, though. It doesn’t matter if I argue or run—he won’t let me go.
I should hate him. Instead, I find myself ridiculously attracted to the stubborn, broody man. Sometimes he terrifies me, so I don’t know why his rare smiles give me warm tingles or why his arms make me feel safe.
Everything about Valora is confusing, but after just a short time here, I realize something—this place is full of dangers that are way more frightening than my new husband, and staying by his side just might be my only option.

“I was a worthless king without her. Now, I’m unstoppable.
The Fae King’s Prize is the third book in the Between Dawn and Dusk series by Jamie Schlosser. I have loved this series from the start as I watched the first two kings of the Night Realm and the Dream Realm find their fated mates and fall in love. Now it’s Zander’s turn, king of the Day Realm. And of course, like all other things in his life, his own journey is unique and challenging. But Zander has waited a life time for his mate and nothing will get in his way now that he’s found her.
Maelyn (Mae) Moore is twenty one years old and has a happy life on earth. She shares an apartment with her best friend, Paige and is close with her parents. Until the night she was snatched. Taken! She woke up in a world she never imagined even existed. And her life was forever changed.
Zander is king of the Day Realm. After watching his two cousins, the kings of the other two realms fall in love with their mates, now more than ever he has hope that he will find his own soul mate and break the curse of his blindness forever. And then it happens. He can’t see but he can hear. And it’s the most beautiful voice he’s ever heard. He just knows. He’s found her, his mate.
“He loves the same way he hates, with utter abandon. With passion. With his whole heart. His gentleness and his violence are two sides of the same coin.”
Zander feels bound to Maelyn immediately. But she doesn’t seem to reciprocate. In fact, she wants to return home to Texas. How can this be? So Zander does what he has to do to bind Mae to him, he tricks her into marrying him. Now all he has to do is to get her to fall in love with him.
This was the perfect couple to round out this trilogy. Zander and Mae’s journey is filled with sweet moments, danger, and lots and lots of chemistry! Zander has so much on his shoulders. Finding his mate shouldn’t have turned out to be such a challenge! And Zander is keeping a part of himself a secret from Mae. A secret that he’s sure will send her running straight back to Earth. The fact that he truly is a beast to her beauty.
I smiled, I sighed, I swooned, I gasped, and I fell in love with this book. This series was my first experience reading fae romance and I loved every word of it. Jamie truly has a gift for creating a world that felt so real to me. And for creating characters that we can’t help but to love. Whether or not you think you enjoy fae romance, I truly hope you’ll give this series a try. I think you’ll be just as in love with this world as I am
“From dawn ‘til dusk, from dusk ‘till dawn, I’ll never love another.”
My other book bfs after seeing me fall for Zander...
Okay, so this is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. However, with my favorite trope, The Emotionally Scarred Hero If you like heroes who "hate the whole world but only like you"...THIS IS DEFINITELY FOR YOU!!!!
Aside from Zander, the MC of this book was also my favorite!!! Her name is Mae (I'm a little bias here, hehe..my name also begins with M🙈🤣) But what I liked best about her was that she wasn't your typical "badass" heroine. I believe she is one of the h who is more emotionally and mentally strong. This tripled my admiration for her. She PROVED that you don't have to wield a sword to be considered "strong." Like, homegirl, you should teach us all about Emotional Intelligence!!
Most importantly, she tamed the beast!!!! Oh my goodness!!! Now I want to tame him as well!!! *wiggles eyebrows at Zander*
Now, let's go over all of the tropes!!!!
Along with this, we have*drum roll please* Slowwwww burnnnnnnn!!! (at least it was for me) The ANGST!!!!!! Forced proximity!!!!
The muscles in my face feel strange. Kind of tired and shaky, like they don’t know how to keep this expression in place for this long. But it feels good. This is our Hero after he smiles lmao
Did I mention he can transform into a Gryffin???!!!! I thought his fur would be so floofy the entire time!!! I believe I traumatised him.🤣
What I mean is that you should give him a chance!! I am confident you will adore him!!! (Why am I acting as if I'm introducing him to my family??!!🙈🥰😂)
And then he says the most adorable things!!!
I don’t know if Maelyn feels the same, but I love her. Not the idea of her. Her.
He sure knows how to woo a woman for someone who doesn't speak much!!! Okay...I've officially crossed the line from obsessive to creepy.🤣🙈
Now go ahead and read this so we can all fangirl over him!!! BUT DO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM!!!! I fell in love with him first...so he is mine.🤣 Ok...now that's creepy...let's end with something cute (He is still mine)
SAFETY : Dual Virgins. Zander has NEVER EVEN KISSED A WOMAN!!! That's exactly my type!!! (I'm not trying to slut men or anything... I'd just prefer it if the male love interest weren't playboys.)
Bonus: Now, I'm not sure what Zander's Zodiac is, but he was giving me major Scorpio vibes, and as a cancer, I HAD to look up those tropes as well, and I was not disappointed!!!
SCORPIO: but how do I know you're dating me for my heart and not for my international criminal empire? CANCER: because your international criminal empire is what you do, not who you are SCORPIO: that's so sweet, I might stab someone This pretty much sums up Mae/Mrin and Zander's relationship. OG Post: https://astrologysucks.tumblr.com/ That's how I came to like him *nervous laughter*
Update 3 *4.5 This has Slytherin x Hufflepuff pairing aka my fav trope!!! I WANT MORE!!!! And Zander is my book boyfriend!!!! It's FINAL!!!!!! The Hero was emotionally constipated AND the main character was the sweetest Puff!!! This ACTUALLY happened in the book☝ Not in the exact same way but something similar *dreamy sigh*
RTC (Once I stop daydreaming about Zander i.e)
Update 2 This book is MY BOOK OF REQUIREMENT!!!!! OMG!!!!! I am so excited to start this!!! *starts fangirling over Zander*
(I did not click this photo..I wish I was this talented*sigh*It came with the email!! But I thought it was pretty!!)

Update 1 I will wait impatiently patiently for this book to come out. The Love interest in this book is def my type!! I was waiting for his story since book 1!!!! He is the GRUMPY type
I was anticipating for Zander’s story when I was introduced to him in the previous parts of the series. Unfortunately, his story didn’t meet my expectations. While I was thrilled with the other ones, this didn’t excite me as much as I expected to.
The author’s writing was very good, but the plot ~ especially in the middle - was rather dragging. Zander and Maelyn was not my favourite couple of this series, they didn’t manage to have me highly engrossed in their journey and the sparks between them didn’t have that great magic for me.
I think this one is my favourite book yet and though each book is part of a connecting series this can easily be read as a stand-alone. This was Zander who is the day realm king and Maelyn’s story. Mae a human finds herself kidnapped by snatchers and on the auction block back in the fae realm. Zander is undercover liberating the stolen females and recognises Mae as his fated mate.
Instead of returning her to her home in Texas, he claims Mae for his Queen something Mae is initially not on board with. The bond between them is slightly broken on Mae’s end and though she’s attracted to Zander she doesn’t instantly feel the depths of emotions he is currently experiencing. So he’s going to have to woo her the old fashioned way the only issue is when he experiences extreme feelings he shifts into a Griffin a curse he’s lived under for years and one he definitely hasn’t told his new wife about.
I enjoyed this one a lot it is quite instalove all the stories in this series tend to be but despite me not usually being a fan of that, it does work here. It's dual POV and quite action-packed so there’s also a lot going on and I definitely believed in the developed connection between Zander and Mae they did make such a lovely couple.
This isn’t a dark read at all it's at heart an incredibly sweet romance so if you like fantasy romance with a devoted male that has saved himself for his future mate then this is the story for you. This turned out to be such an easy and sexy read. I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Fae Kings Prize (Between Dawn And Dusk #3).
Gaaahhhh*happy sigh*... I can't even! Mae said it herself, 'it's like catnip', or should I say kryptonite to my romance lover heart! Broody and tortured hero, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and fated mates...Yes, yes, and yes please!!! All of my favorite tropes rolled into one enchanting and fantastical love story... Romantic lover HEAVEN!!!
Yep, that's right, here goes, Ms. Schlosser knocking me out with another whimsical, sexy and oh so romantic love story! Mae and Zander for the win! This series... All the stars for all the supernatural loves!

I am utterly obsessed with this series, and this book is hand down my absolute FAVORITE. Zander, my beautiful, slightly broken Zander absolutely won my heart within the very first page. He has been through so much pain in his life, especially at the hands of someone who should have protected and loved him.. but all that he has gone through has led him to finally find the woman he was always meant to be with, his one true mate, but this just might be the hardest thing he's ever had to overcome in his entire life.
Mae is your normal twenty year old, who lives a happy if somewhat mundane life on earth, when she is literally snatched from the only life she has ever known. She's thrown into a dangerous situation in a totally strange and new world she never knew existed. She ends up being saved by Zander, and even though it's not love at first sight for her.. it is for him. And he will do anything he can to make her see that she's supposed to be with him.. even if that means tricking her into marrying him. ;)
I loved how this book took a different route with the fated mates! Here we have Mae who doesn't feel anything for Zander through their fated connection, unlike him who feels EVERYTHING. So he has to do this the human and old fashioned way: he has to authentically make Mae fall in love with him by wooing her, and I LOVED it so much!! There is so much to these two, and though they push each other's buttons in the best and worst ways, I loved seeing Mae slowly fall in love with Zander, and seeing Zander fall more in love with her. Plus all the suspense!? Good lord, no wonder this is my favorite book in the series!!
I also really adored the way that Mae reacted to Zander's secret, especially since he was so scared to tell her in the first place. That just made me love them even more!!
Even if you paranormal/fae romances aren't your usual go-to trope, I definitely encourage everyone to read this book! I can't wait for more in the series!!
**I received an arc of this book and these are my honest opinions!!**
I've been looking forward to reading Zander's story since he's the broody fae king who didn't have the support system in place that the other two had. Well, some of his actions and decisions because of his past ended up being more frustrating than I expected. Maelyn was a good match for him in that she had the loads of compassion necessary to forgive some of his errors he makes along the way to their HEA. The plot expands on the continued challenges the Day Realm has because of the lack of women, the crime, and Glow, as well as Zander's role as king. There's also a new villain introduced related to what's happening. The story is written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama (H is j/p; there is a woman who hits on the H but it's cringey and horrifying to him), dual virgins, and no bc.
This one is a slow burn relationship-wise and steam-wise. Zander's all in from the get-go, but there's a wrinkle with their fated mate bond that affects things on Mae's side and their introduction is pretty complicated. I felt bad for Zander, but then I also saw the wasted opportunities to be upfront with Mae or to build better connections with his men/people. He is a good king at heart, but the struggle is real. Mae is a sweetheart and the times she does assert herself are great, but she's also conflicted about being in Valora (with good reason). I do give props to Zander, despite keeping elements a secret, he also didn't try to leverage the curse or what happens if mates are separated to win Mae over through that compassionate streak. I also enjoyed the steamy scenes since the author is great at those and Zander does dirty talk well.
I liked the side characters, including the scenes we get with the prior royal couples. I don't know if my mood was just not in the right place for this one, but I felt it was lacking that connection I felt with the first book, despite being the one I wanted to read the most. Maybe because Zander is closed-off in so many ways and Mae doesn't have that immediate excitement. I did enjoy the major conflict and as usual for this author, the epilogue is wonderful and extended. This world has so many more possibilities outside of the main characters for this series and there's one side character in particular that's been in all 3 books so far I'd love to see get his own HEA.
I felt like I was transported to another world. As if I jumped throughout a portal and lived in this story and experienced all the enchanting fae goodness and trolls and witches and sprites and griffins and all the curses and magic.
The world building is absolutely phenomenal. Valora is so fantastically magical, I was swept away to that land full of protective, sexy AF fae men and beautiful, kind-hearted fae women.
The talent of this author just blows me away. I was WOWed from the very first chapter until the very last page, where I was craving more and wanting to stay curled up all nice and cozy and happy inside the pages. The storytelling is outstanding! Have I mentioned the talent of this author?!
After reading the first two books in this series, I was so eager for Zander’s story. I just knew he was going to grab ahold of my heart and run away with it.
Zander...so bossy and grumpy and growly and demanding and constantly scowling...and I couldn’t have loved him more. He knew when he heard Maelyn sing that very first note, she was his. The one for him, his fated mate. He just had to convince her of that. Because she was anything but happy about how she ended up there. Kidnapped and put up for auction.
The banter between them was so entertaining and fun and sometimes romantic and sexy. My goodness, Zander has a dirty mind and a filthy mouth. *heart eyes* Mae tried SO hard to not like him, not to fall for him, but he’s pretty irresistible. Was he arrogant and cocky? Sure, but lordy, he has every right to be.
I have a bit of a girl crush on Mae. She is small but mighty, and she can be quite the badass. She talks a mile a minute, rambling on and on with a tendency to overshare. I think that’s one reason why I love her so much, I can totally relate, LOL! She also has a huge heart, she cares about others before herself.
This book was yet another amazing adventure in this series. I experienced everything, the author made me feel. I could easily visualize every word, the author made me see. I loved and adored Zander and Mae and many of the other characters, the author made me fall. I was captivated and utterly smitten.
I couldn’t love this story any more if I tried. It left me deliciously satisfied and feeling so very happy.
If you’ve read the previous two books in this series you know that Zander has had it pretty rough. Not just that his dad was a jerk.....his dad was horrible, abusive and made Zander and his mothers life hell. So, as you can imagine I was dying to read this book. What is going to happen to the stoic Day King? How is his story going to unfold? When we meet his queen, I could automatically see that she was light to his darkness. Maelyn is a healer of hearts and minds. Literally, she’s a counselor. Poor broken Zander who has the huge capacity to love doesn’t think he’s worthy. Well, Maelyn is about to teach him he is worthy and that he deserves happiness just like everyone else. The Fae King’s Prize was angsty, emotional, sometimes funny, a little slow in the middle but then it picked right up and ended on a bang. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series for all PNR readers.
Zander and Mae are so perfect for each other. I am so happy Zander finally found love and someone that cherishes every part of him. He’s suffered so much since he was a little boy, that he deserves happiness. Mae is always amazing! She’s the light to his dark. Love them!
So, things got off to a rocky start when Zander pulled a move like his terrible father and took Maelyn against her will. But then I also understood why he did that, since she was his fated mate and all. I'm not sure; of the three books I've read in this series, this one definitely has the most stretched-out plot with Maelyn's back-and-forth. I totally see her point; she got taken away, and that bond they were supposed to feel was pretty messed up since the witches' death in book 2. She still felt this pull that she can't really explain; I just wish she would embrace it instead of pushing back against it.
Then Zander's lie of omission was annoying. I just don't get why he felt the need to hide his power for such a long time. Mae saw his other form twice, and each time she didn't run away. She showed she wasn't afraid, so I really don't understand why this fact was kept back until the last 10% of the story. I get that he has his reservations, but I really wish he would've given Mae the benefit of the doubt instead.
It wasn't all that bad; I still had a good time with it, even though it was the longest of the three books I've read. It was just that the heavy themes were a bit much; it kind of felt like a dark-ish romance with all the CW/TW stuff going on in the story. I honestly didn't think it would be this mentally and emotionally exhausting.
In any case, I still think it was worthwhile to read this. Everything comes into place in the end, and all I can say is that I'm relieved the kingdoms in this fictional world can now live together peacefully. It was also a good thing that the princes found their soulmates. So, all things considered, it was still pretty much a decent read.
Disappointing, considering how good the other books are
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Friends, I keep reading these books because I so deeply loved the first one.
Or maybe I was in a huge reading drought. Now, I’m not so sure.
While Schlosser’s writing and characters remain rich, I was turned off to this story by many elements of the plot, as well as the lackluster response to a kidnapping and lack of chemistry between MCs.
Long story short: it didn’t work for me.
Here’s why (spoilers):
-For the first time in this series, we’re given a fated mates situation gone awry. For some reason that remains a little uncertain to me (has to do with a witch, I think) Maelyn (MC) can’t feel her bond to Zander. He can feel it fine, but she can’t. She’s fully human, unlike the other two heroines in the series, so that’s partially why, but the other part is, again, foggy and seems fairly unrelated to the plot, other than it leans into the idea of choice which is important in this story. It doesn’t work because there’s too many tensions. In the other stories, the mating bond has been compelling and clear to both parties, and it results in a pretty sweet and fluffy love story. I think Schlosser was going for more tension here, or to test the idea of fated mates, but it didn’t work because the thing that would have made tension (Maelyn hating Zander for forcing her to stay against her will) was weak. It would have been great if she had hated him, and he had to grovel A LOT to make up for the fact that he deceived her into marriage and kept her against her will, but that never happened. That brings me to my second point...
-Maelyn didn’t hate Zander nearly enough. Sure, she tried to escape once, but other than that, her feelings toward him were lukewarm at their most negative. She wanted to go home, and he kept her there! And forced her into marriage! The underlying message here was “Woman weakly protests something”, and I needed it to be “I hate you with the fire of a thousand suns” for it to build the tension. Also, if I was Maelyn, I would have been PISSED, so I was so angry for her that I got upset when she wasn’t angry! It was the perfect chance to pit the “fated mates” thing against choice, and have her choose to be with him, but she didn’t hate him enough to make it a choice. She just didn’t like him at first, then came to like him.
-There was nowhere near enough groveling. Zander did some really messed up stuff when he wouldn’t let Maelyn go home, and she fell in love with him anyway, again, with little to no protest, and without him ONCE groveling. I needed him on his knees, begging forgiveness. I needed him to be willing to die from the bond compounding on him, and her going home anyway even knowing it would kill him. That’s how much groveling I needed.
-It’s 2021. We need to stop with the sex slave market plot line. In a dark romance, I might have bought it, but this is in no way, shape, or form a dark romance. It’s deeply upsetting, because sex trafficking is something that remains a global issue, and it’s not valuable in a fantasy. It was used as a plot device to show how “good” Zander was, and that demeans the actual severity of this issue in the world. There were a thousand ways to show his goodness, and placing this issue, in this book, was not the way to set him up as the “good” guy.
I did like that Maelyn was a therapist. I’m always advocating for more therapist figures on the page.
I loved the first book in this series, and it stands as one of the few childhood-friends-to-lovers stories that I enjoy. However, given how this book went, I’m concerned I should re-read it to see if I was missing something.
The writing is good, the world is still charming enough to read… I was just very disappointed in this book.
First time reading this author and I’m so glad I found this book! It had a tortured, broody, BLIND hero with a beastly secret and a sweet, virtuous human who has been kidnapped from the human realm thrust into his world of fairy creatures, curses, fated mates and danger.
The steam was off the charts, but there was enough emotional connection to make it meaningful and intense. And even better—double virgins!!!
The only thing I didn’t care for in the book was the trashy skank best friend, who continues to be a trashy skank even when her circumstances are improved. I also didn’t care for the implication just because one comes from a fucked up background it follows that one treads the same path. As someone who’s background was fucked up with a prostitute for a mother and surrounded by degradation and immorality, I can attest that ppl MAKE CHOICES and one can come from filth and crawl out of the gutter by making BETTER CHOICES, such as choosing to do the opposite of what everyone else around you is doing. So, that element really irritated me with the message that casual scumbaggery is totes ok, but she was so minor that it didn’t detract from the overall story, it was just a vexing side message.
This was a double virgins book with no cheating so it’s safe in that regard, except possible triggers due to subject matter. Such as: human trafficking, being held captive, being threatened with rape (not by the hero but by others.) and kidnapping. HEA with epilogue
I saw one quote about this book on TikTok and immediately dropped everything to start reading. I’m a sucker for fated mate books, and this one didn’t disappoint.
I loved the characters and the storyline and the pacing of the book. I don’t always love the insta love that comes with fated mate books, but this wasn’t truly insta love. Mae couldn’t feel the bond right away, so it was more of a slow burn romance. And the pacing on this was PERFECT.
If you are looking for a fast paced, cute, SMUTTY book, then this one is for you. It’s just not one of my absolute favourites!!
i think this might be a 3.5 stars read i really enjoyed!!! what i’m about to say might get some people mad but someone’s gotta say it.
this fantasy fairy book with a half naked man on the cover got me feeling way more than i did with all acotar books, which is insane bc i haven’t even read the other two books from this series previously and it was so coherent and cohesive.
i actually really liked this, i’m not that into fantasy but this was very good honestly, i do think it could have ended in less pages but i’m not mad about it.
also totally safe, they’re both virgins, no op drama at all just someone who was his father’s mistress and was trying to get to him but he didn’t really care so nothing to worry about
This was one of my three most anticipated books for this year….and it did not disappoint. I loved it so much. This is one of the most beautiful series I’ve ever read. My Zander is here, and he will capture your heart. Where Zander is a bit rougher around the edges, his love for his mate is nothing short of heartfelt.
Zander finds his mate, Maelyn, while he and his men are infiltrating another auction to save the women being taken. And of course because Zander doesn’t have the fairytale Kirian and Damon have, he has to convince his mate that they are mates. All while trying to take down the bad guys.
Safe read, and great storyline. And the award goes to….Zander...for the best Fae king dirty talker...I know, right. Add to that he’s a griffin shifter badass...oh, and a Virgin fated mate who looks like that (psst, the cover)...he is the total package. See...you really are welcome. He and Mae also play hide-and-seek, the adult version *wags eyebrows*, and I completely prefer their version. Feather shenanigans too. We get to read about all of our favorites from the previous books, Kirian, Quinn, Damon, Whitley, and Astrid. A wonderful epilogue and hea.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(Holy omg..I’d give this 100000 Stars if that was possible/5)
*Huge thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of this book!)
Ok.. guys. I was looking forward to this freaking book so much. I already was so obsessed with and in love with Zander even though he was only a secondary character in the first two books. He is legit exactly what I look for in a hero. At one point in the book, our heroine (Mae) says:
”Youre- you’re hot. Zander, you might not be able to see the looks girls give you, but you get noticed. A lot. And youre a king and you’re all broody. You’re like catnip to women.
And if THAT ISN’T EXACTLY WHY I WANTED THIS BOOK SO BADLY.
So... our sweet, broody, beautiful king Zander has dealt with some shit in his life. His dad was a total POS and was super physically and mentally abusive to both Zander and his mother, Ro. Zander is the only one of the fae kings not born with a power (because his mom is human), so Zander’s dad got a wizard to basically give him one- turning Zander into a griffin shifter. This made Zander the strongest and most dangerous fae in the realm. And his dad hated him for it. He also feared him, and barely let Zander out of the castle. As a result, no one in the kingdom really knew him.
We know from the previous books that Zander killed his father (had to be done, guys. He was an effing dick). Zander also accidentally caused some of the issues with the drug named Glow running rampant around the kingdoms.
Mae, a domestic abuse counselor, is kidnapped outside a strip club where she’s visiting her roommate and best friend. She’s being sold at an auction in the fae realm- one of the many auctions Zander and his friends/guards have been working so hard to break up and save the women. When Mae is put up for auction, she adorably rambles about herself and Zander knows as soon as he hears her voice that shes his fated mate. So what’s he do? He kidnaps her 😂 God love him. He’s so totally clueless and confused because the other two king’s and their mates had an automatic response to the bond when they met each other. So he just naturally assumes that Mae will, too.
I think thats part of why I loved this story so much. After the majority of the coven was killed in the last book, it messed up the curse so that Zander was the only one feeling it- but he was feeling it double (bc he was getting Mae’s side of the bond as well😬). So instead of an instant bond, we got to fall in love with Zander naturally along with Mae- who didnt have the Insta-love of the bond clouding her judgement.
On top of having to woo his fated mate the old fashioned way, our sweet king is also terrified of revealing himself as a Griffin shifter to her. This is... such a sweet part of the story. Seeing Zander deal with his own feelings of self-loathing and fear of being rejected. Coming to terms with what he is and how he sees himself (as a monster), and how Mae brings out the best in not only him but his mother as well (who is also a victim of domestic violence). The entire story is lovely and heart-felt and delicious. I fell even further in love with all the characters- even more so with Torius and Kai and now Pippen and Marek.
I dont want to get much more into that plot than this because then I’ll have to post a spoiler warning... I feel like speaking about the overall major relationship story and the starts of the immediate conflict itself is going far enough... but let me tell you, I had high high hopes for this volume in the series and Jamie did not let me down. Zander was everything that appeals to me as a reader and as a woman.. and I have a tendency to be super critical of the female leads in stories with sweet, beautiful broken men.. but I absolute loved Mae. She was kind and beautiful and open to loving Zander but didn’t take anyone’s shit. She was the perfect heroine and perfect for Zander.
I am officially dying for more books. I want to see books for Torius and Kai and Pippen and Marek. I want to see the original kings’ children grow up and find mates of their own. I want to see the lost witch from the coven come back and wreak havoc. I want to see what happens with Glow. I want to know more and more about this world because not only do I love the characters, I love Valora.
I adore fantasy. It is my fave trope in all ways, shapes, and forms. There is nothing I adore more than a series where I can suspend belief and an author that allows me to walk that line between knowing its not real but believing it could be. It isn’t often that I come across a fantasy romance that does that in the most deliciously perfect way. This series does. You can put characters on the page and make them fall in love but you cant make the reader fall in love with them in turn. Too often that’s the case when it comes to fantasy romance. I’ve ready plenty of good book series- but its not often I come across a great book series.Jamie’s work is pure art. It is a canvas painted with words full of beauty. The world, the magic, the characters, the speech, the descriptions, the stories. All of it is beautiful. All of it not only encourages, but allows the reader to fall so deep into the world she’s made that you don’t want to come back. You finish reading and feel a bit disoriented... like you know this place doesn’t exist but you wonder, maybe....just maybe...could it?
Thats the mark of a great author. That’s the mark of a great story. And I can not wait to see where she takes us next.
Tale as old as time….beauty falls in love with a beast. It’s a story that is told a million different ways a million different times. This story is vastly different than the original in many ways. This beast is fae with many secrets and the beauty is human taken from her world and thrust into a strange and scary new place. Surely this won’t go well for them they are two different species but love always prevails.
Maelynn is just an average human living her life day to day. She wants to help battered woman and is working toward a career in that field. Life for the most part is good until she finds herself being taken from a parking lot one night. Safe always reliable Maelynn is now in the fairy realms and on the auctioning block. Zander knows his fated mate is out there but has all but given up. He rules his realm begrudgingly. He sets out to break up the trafficking rings that are plaguing his city and stumbles upon Maelyn. She calls to him and he must rescue this woman because he feels her pain. One rescue mission down he asks for her to stay and give this new world a try. Maelynn isn’t sure of her sudden feelings toward Zander but deep down she knows if she leaves it would kill her.
King Zander is spicy!! I mean he is dominating but has a heart of a gold buried under all that surly exterior. Maelynn well she is admirable. She could have had a fit lost her ever loving mind but nope she stayed strong and wanted to help others. Zander’s story is heartbreaking to say the least. I really liked this story I couldn’t put it down which is saying a lot because lately I’ve been in a book funk. I want more. Is anyone’s story left? Ughhhhh!!!
I absolutely love this series! In a time that has been full of uncertainty and darkness, these books have provided a light. Every time I have opened one of them, I get completely sucked into this world! I will be sad when this series comes to an end, but I am really hoping for a spin-off series focusing on the kids!
Zander has been a character that has intrigued me from the second he entered this series. He has a dark past, is super broody and definitely fits the strong, silent type. Although it was heart-breaking, I loved the unraveling of his past. It helped explain so much and I completely sympathized with his fears over finding genuinely love.
Maelyn definitely held her own in this story and I loved her need for helping others. Her character was very relatable and I loved seeing her gradually evolve into an amazing partner for Zander.
I would classify the romance as more of a slow burn and I really liked that. With the fated mates trope, it is easy to have the characters jump into bed right away with very little connection. With these characters, I was glad that their love was a journey and a choice. It also made the steamy moments that much better!
I absolutely loved this story and although I did prefer the villains from the first two books slightly more, the one in this book definitely stirred up some drama. The fight between good and evil in these books is one of my favorite aspect.
Overall, I enjoyed this read immensely. 2021 has not been the best of reading years already and I devoured this book in a weekend! I will most definitely keep reading any books that come out in this series!
With my woman, I finally know what it is to feel powerful. Invincible. Wanted. I was a worthless king without her. Now, I’m unstoppable.
This series has absolutely blown me away in so many ways. If you’re new to this series and you only take away one thing from my review, let it be that you start this series from beginning to end. It has been such a wonderful, sexy, breathtaking journey.
Each of the 3 cursed King have brought so much to the series, each in a different way. Zander, the silent, brooding King has been a favorite. He has always been so mysterious from the start whenever we got to sneak a few times with him. But with his story, his mate...I was not disappointed.
I truly thought the story would end a different way for once. And it even seemed that way at the end. But Schlosser surprised me in more ways than one and gave Zander’s story an amazing ending. I won’t give it away, but it was absolutely beautiful.
THE FAE KING’S PRIZE was everything and more. This whole series reminded me once again why I love fae stories and all they entail. Schlosser did a heck of job with each book and each King. I may need a reread of them all very soon! 5 Stars.
I love a good PNR, but a great PNR stays with you for a long time. That’s how I felt when a good friend suggested that I read The Fae King’s Curse. I hadn’t read a lot of Fae books but I devoured the first two books and I’ve been (not so) patiently waiting for Zander’s book. And let me tell you that I was far from disappointed. King Zander & Maelynn’s story is not your conventional love story...it’s much deeper. Ms Schlosser has such an incredible imagination and I feel grateful that she shares her gift with the world. Even though the story of the three Fae kings is complete, I truly hope that this is not the last I read about the Fae’s of Valora❤️
This is the third installment of the Between Dusk and Dawn series and I’m speechless. I have been waiting for broody Zander and my god, his story did not disappoint.
Zander who grew up in an awful environment has always had it extremely hard. His psycho father mentally and physically abused him and his mother. What makes the matter worst is that he is the only Fae king without power. His father hated him so much that he doomed him to life he didn’t want. His father had a wizard to cast a spell on him and it goes completely wrong. Due to this Zander views himself as a monster. What he becomes makes him the strongest Fae that has ever walked. Never feeling any love accept from his mother he is isolated and lonely. His subjects don’t even know their own king. Zander’s subjects ultimately blame him for a lot of bad things that has transpired in the kingdom.
Maelyn who is a counselor that deals with patients that have been abused is kidnapped outside of a strip club. She ends up in the Fae world and realizes she is no longer in her own world. She is to be sold along with other women who have been kidnapped. Scared and confused she hopes she can make it out alive.
Zander who happens to be in disguise has been working toward ending the illegal auctions. While he was there to break up that one he finally finds his fated mate, that happens to be Mae. As soon as he hears her voice he instantly knows. Zander saves her but has other plans and that is to make his beautiful mate his wife.
Maelyn is confused as to why Zander won’t let her return home but after he makes her repeat this vow she becomes his wife. Zander feels an instant connection but on Maelyn’s end she can’t feel it. It is a result to the curse that was placed on Zander. So Xander must win the affection of Maelyn. On top of that he must keep his secret from her and save his kingdom from turmoil.
Zander captured my heart in so many ways. He was just a lost soul who wanted someone to truly love him. He is tender hearted and had so much love to give. He might not have went about the situation with Maelyn in the best way but his attentions were pure. Maelyn was just what he needed because she saw the true Zander for the beautiful man he was.
Their journey is filled with many obstacles. You see passion, angst, fear but most importantly a beautiful love developing. So will Zander and Maelyn find their happily ever after or will the evil that’s lurking tear them apart?
There’s been a shortage of women in the Day Kingdom for years after a deadly plague. Since then, the male population has resorted to kidnapping and bride auctions to find wives…or breeders. It’s at one of these auctions that the human Maelyn finds herself after being snatched off the street. She decides to play along with her unusual captors until the moment she can finally escape. But who will make the winning bid on her?
King Zander of the Day Kingdom has been blind since a curse plunged all princes of Valora into darkness until they find their fated mates. The only clue he has to go on is the cryptic phrase, You’ll know her by her voice. She won’t be with you by choice. The last place he expected to hear her is at a the very bride auction he’s working to destroy. His own mother was one a victim of that very type of auction, and he’s vowed to be a different ruler than his cruel father, with Maelyn as his queen.
At first, Zander hopes Maelyn feels the same magnetic pull, but when she makes it clear she’s only interested in going home, he feels he has no choice but to pull a Fae trick. Now with a new, reluctant, queen and a kingdom to run, Zander has his hands full…and when the truth of what he really is comes to light, will he lose every chance to win over his new bride?
Ugh, as an Irish person with some knowledge of the Fae, I feel like a traitor adoring these books so much, but I can’t help it! It makes me want to find a mushroom circle and offer some honey and gold to lure them to me. It’s something I never considered until this series.
We get into the action on page one and it literally doesn’t stop. There’s old curses, shifting, kidnapping, quicksand…and that’s only in the first few chapters. This book keeps you seriously invested from the beginning, especially where the romance is involved. In the first books, the pull of the fated mates are paired perfectly and there’s no question that the couple are made for each other. But with Zander and Maelyn, it’s messy and there’s no instant connection on her side, which keeps readers on their toes.
Overall, this book was another amazing hit for me, and I’m still a solid fan of this series. While it is a series, each of the books can be read on their own, but starting at the beginning is always the best. Seriously, pick up the entire series today.
BETWEEN DAWN & DUSK IS BY FAR THE BEST FANTASY SERIES I HAVE READ IN YEARS! AND THE FAE KING'S PRIZE IS THE MOST ENCHANTING AND MAGICAL OF THEM ALL!
Sexy to the max, passionate beyond words and with one jaw dropping adventure after another in between bouts of swoon worthy romance, The Fae King's Prize is 100% spectacular! Zander is so broody and sexy that he made me equal parts infuriated and hot and bothered. He was like what catnip is to cats to me, IRRISTIBLE! And I found his beast form to be absolutely awesome and incredible. And Maelyn is so sweet and lovable and I loved her right off the bat. She was such a brave and compassionate and strong willed heroine I couldn't help but think she really was King Zander's perfect match.
Zander and Mae's story was sensational. I loved how Zander found Mae and what he did to make her his. And his broody and possessive ways was hotter than anything I could of expected. The action and danger sped up my heart but seeing the incredible romance bloom slow and hot was my favorite part. And I REALLY enjoyed the fact that we got more....story than sex. Don't get me wrong I love some sexy times, but sometimes I feel like there is too much sex in romances anymore than actual story. So I think Jamie did a absolute AMAZING job with writing a romance that had more story with some sexy times here and there instead of every other chapter. But oh my, those sexy times were sure filled with some MAJOR heat! Zander turned out to be quite a dominant hero. I LOVED IT!
The Fae King's Prize gets a SHOW STOPPING 10 SHOOTING STARS! This book has it all and I want to shout it out to the rooftops!
I have loved this entire series and this book is no exception. Zander, King of the Day Realm, is different in that he was born to a human mother and without fae powers. I learned in previous books that his power, the ability to shift into a griffin, was given by a wizard when he was a child. What we learn more about through this book is the abuse, suffering, and pain he has endured his entire life. As a reader, it helped me understand him. I understood his grumpiness, and I empathized with his hopelessness, and then his hope when he hears Maelyn. I understood his action and his commitment to his fated mate. Maelyn has been stolen from her life and finds herself in a weird and dangerous situation. I loved reading as she works through things in her mind and makes decisions not only based on who she has been in the past, but on who she wants to be now and in the future. She makes some decisions, that while brave, are also reckless. Fortunately for her, Zander is there for her. I love that she is so innocent, clumsy, and a little goofy. She is so opposite of Zander and I loved her acceptance of everything he is as she gets to know him. I love how she quickly grows into her responsibility and the challenge of being a queen. I love that she can bring something to her new kingdom that was missing and is able to make a positive impact. These two have a lot of heat. Their relationship is complicated, and I adore that Mae must fall in love with Zander for who he is. I want more of this world. Though we have met all three kings, there is a new generation growing. In addition, many of the secondary characters, in particular the prominent soldiers (Kai, Thayne, Pippin, Mereck, Tirius) still need their HEA. I read this in one sitting. I could not put it down. I am begging this author to give me more Valora- please? Zander and Maelyn’s story is written in first person from a dual POV. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
King Zander is deliciously grumpy and harsh, and has a strong but cool relationship with his men. His people don't see how much he does to try to make up for his father's cruelty and his own well-meaning mistakes. When he meets his Fated Mate, Mae, he is so relieved because he saw how wonderful it was for the other kings, and is looking forward to having his own devoted, passionate marriage. Except something is broken, and Mae doesn't feel the same pull!
Action, suspense, fighting, head lopping, and a seriously bad-ass terrifying griffon swept me through this romantic adventure and left me feeling that rare, perfect-romance glow.
I was lucky enough to score an ARC copy, but after I read it, I liked it so much I bought it anyway. :)
The Fae King's Prize was a slow burn build up with a tricked marriage plot set against a fantastical world backdrop. I am a fan of slow burn romances but this one frustrated me. But there was quite a lot going on in the story to keep the reader interested. This action filled, sweet fantasy romance was a fun read for me.
I have waited and waited for Zander’s story, and it did not disappoint. His grumpy and broody exterior was divine! But while I loved reading his and Mae’s story, I must say that it was Ro who really had me feeling all the feels. Hopefully, she gets a book!
