She longs for a better future. Avery Tanglewood has had enough of rearranging her life for the sake of others. After years of prioritizing her family over herself, she’s ready to strike out on her own, even if she’s not sure what she wants to do with her life. If only she was brave enough to face the backlash the truth will bring. He’s a prisoner of the past. For hundreds of years, Xavier has used his dragon magic to protect his Highland clan inside a pocket of space called the builgean. Thanks to his unique magical abilities, generations have enjoyed peace and prosperity while cut off from the modern world. But when a fairy trickster captures him and claims his throne, his refuge becomes his prison. Can they free each other from the chains that bind? Avery agrees to journey into the builgean to persuade Xavier to help with the crisis in Paragon, but she finds a mysterious stranger in his place—a problematic complication, considering she can’t leave the pocket without Xavier’s assistance. Worse, although she frees the captured dragon, he refuses to comply without winning back his land and his clan first. And the longer Avery spends in Xavier’s world, the harder it is to remember why she should return to her own.

My English review

I had a great time with the previous volume which became one of my favorites of the series and I was a little afraid to see what the author had in store for us with this slightly different story. Why is that? Because this time Avery has to go to a pocket frozen in time in 1745 to find Xavier and ask him to come back with her to help her brothers and sister to free Paragon. Only she can do that – this adventure may help her understand who she really is.

When Avery goes to the castle, she discovers that the man sitting on the throne is not the one she’s looking for. Even worse, Xavier has been locked in the dungeon and everyone has forgotten about him.

I had a great time with this novel. I was thrilled to discover Xavier and to finally get Avery’s story. She is going to discover herself in this world that is so different, figure out what she really wants in life and help Xavier get his place back.

So this volume was a little different from the others, but just as well done and I loved discovering this story. The ending opens up new possibilities and I can’t wait to find out what’s next!

The Treasure of Paragon is a fun series with each book dealing with one couple as the dragon siblings of Paragon reunite. The overall series arc deals with witches & dragons and the fate of the dragons’ world, Paragon.

In Highland Dragon, we learn about Xavier when Nathaniel asks her to go into a pocket frozen in time in 1745, Ireland. He and Xavier built it, but only a human can enter. Avery is the oldest Tanglewood sister and not a witch. She has sacrificed for her sister and mother. Now that they are ok, it’s time for her to discover herself and this trip, while dangerous, seems like the perfect opportunity to spread her own wings.

The tale that unfolds was delightful, suspenseful and swoon-worthy. From the time we entered the bubble, I was enthralled. Xavier is no longer the Laird of the castle, and she’ll need to save him before she completes her mission.

I loved the characters from the brownies to the townfolk. Xavier is every bit the highlander and his reactions to modern day Avery had me laughing more than once. Avery discovers things about herself and I enjoyed seeing her find her power.

While one could listen to this a standalone, I recommend you listen in the order of their release, to best appreciate the overall arc. We get some chapters from previous characters which are important. Plus, there are spoilers and updates regarding previous characters.

Holly Adams narrates and delighted me with her voices for Avery and Xavier. Even her voice for the villain enhanced the story. I pictured him as Gargamel from the Smurfs…lol. I recommend listening to the series as it lends perfectly to this format. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

As far as I’m concerned this one is the best one yet in this series. I’ll be sad to see this series end.

Avery comes into her own and stops letting life pass her by. And she gets to save her dragon….twice!

"Highland Dragon" by Genevieve Jack is book 6 in "The Treasure of Paragon" series. It focuses on Avery finding her place in the world. She does so much for everyone else that she has lost her purpose in life and what she wants to do. She is visiting her sister in another country, and her mother keeps trying to get her to come home to take over the family business, The Three Sisters a bar that has been in the family for generations. Avery is up one night walking the halls and comes across the picture of Xavier. She is asked to go and bring him back home. When she gets there, she finds that he has been locked up, and that is why he hasn't been home. She tells herself that she is going to do everything she can to help get him free.
I absolutely love this series by Genevieve Jack. She is one of those authors who gets you sucked in and wanting to see what happens next. I highly recommend reading books by her because she doesn't disappoint.

The sixth installment of The Treasure of Paragon series, Highland Dragon is the book we’ve been waiting for. Avery, Raven’s older sister who stood by her sister’s side during sickness and health, is tasked with finding the elusive brother of the other dragons, Xander. From the beginning, with Raven’s book and the previous novels, we get little glimpses into who Avery is. She is more than a sister, daughter, caregiver, and barkeep.Highland Dragon is where Avery goes from a secondary character to a badass willing to fight for herself, her family, and her friends. This isn’t just another installment of a paranormal book, this is an example of the struggle women have in not saying yes to everything and standing up for themselves. Honestly, the character growth was amazing and I didn’t think I could love anyone as much as I loved Alexander but I was wrong. I think because both Avery and Xander are fleshed out by Genevive Jack it feels like it’s more than a story about dragons. Sure they’re cool but it’s a story in which a woman finds the depths of herself and what she is willing to do for her family and friends. This story is beautifully told. Each story builds on the one preceding it but the effort that was taken by Genevive to build the world went above and beyond other authors. I cannot wait for the next book!

I can't say enough about Genevieve Jack's creative gift as a writer. Her books are just enjoyable. Highland dragon was a little darker than her other stories but that was fitting for the characters story line. Avery's life has always been on hold, (I actually felt sorry for her in past books) she's always taking care of everyone else but never herself. She's a lost soul of sorts. And a very relatable character if you have ever felt lost. Then there's Xavier....any woman who's ever had a fantasy about a highland warrior well this is him (and he's a dragon ta boot). This is a wonderful book full of suspense, love, self discovery, fairies, witches and dragons. It's hard to put down and I can't wait for the next book!!!

This was another great read from the treasure of Paragon series. Story between Avery and Xavier is rather enjoyable and different feel of this book to previous books is great, it had two different worlds Combining. Avery is discovering a new side of herself and learning along the way of how strong she has become when standing on her own; Xavier learns the truth of what happened with himself and siblings being exiled from Paragon and slowly he an Avery are becoming close. I would highly recommend I love who are fans and new readers to the author to read this series.

This is the sixth book in the Treasures of Paragon series by Genevieve Jack.

This series has a sort of an old world meets new world dynamic but this book, Highland Dragon, brings the old world to the surface full force.

Nathanial and his brother Xavier built a bubble in time in order to protect his Highland clan. So when the Paragon siblings need Xavier’s help to deal with the evil queen, they have to send in Avery , one of the Tanglewood witches without any power to go through the bubble since a pure human had to be the one to get past the seal Nathanial and Xavier set up.

This is like a coming of age story since Avery had to give up so much for Raven when she was sick in her youth that she had let opportunities pass her by. Now here in this ancient world she is finding her power and discovers she is more powerful than she realizes.

I love how the characters from the previous books are all in the next book which gives this series a ton of richness as the ultimate story unfolds from book to book.

This is definitely a series I will continue to follow.

Overall it is one great read. This series is amazing. Check it out.

If you love a good paranormal romance mystery, definitely check this one out.

Woot! Avery's story and what a story it was! I am so glad that Avery found her witchy powers. Avery agrees to go back in time to help Xavier, another brother, bring him back to present day to help overthrow mother. Along the way she meets a brownie, a selkie, more faes and rescues Xavier. There is adventure and courage, and love. The way she talks to herself, talks out loud and deals with Xavier is a hoot. Aborella also shows up in this story and it took a turn I wasn't expecting and gets us ready for book 7.

Wonderful

I really Loved Avery and Xandiers story as It combined my favourite things, men and kilts. Having married a Scotsman I can see the appeal. I loved that Avery also finds herself in this novel and has the bravery to go get it. A bit of a twist with a certain villan character was also very interesting.

wonderful Dragon Shifter Romance

Ok this is book 6 in the Treasure of Paragon series and this series is best read in order. Each book adds more characters and the characters from earlier books may make an appearance depending on the story line. There are smutty scenes and there is a lot of action and danger as well. I am looking forward to read the next book.

At least this one had a story separate from the main sibling story, though Jack is still weak in creating strong character connections.

I'm so happy to see Avery get her own story, and what a story it is! Filled with adventure, redemption, and courage, this latest segment in the Treasure of Paragon series does not disappoint. When Avery volunteers to drop into the secluded village where Xavier still serves as laird in Scotland, she has no idea of the tasks that await her and the reward she'll find in the Highland Dragon's arms.

Loved Avery and Xavier's story. I liked how strong and brave Avery was. Liked how she saved Xavier. Loved learning more about Paragon and what happened there. Wondering how things will play out with Aborella. So ready to continue the journey. Can't wait to get the next book once it releases.

Genevieve Jack does it again! Another fabulous instalment of the Treasures of Paragon series!

Avery Tanglewood, Raven’s older sister, has been the caregiver, the observer, the non-magical one. She has sacrificed and put her life “on hold” for so long that she has lost her way and doesn’t know what she wants for herself. She only knows that she does not want to return to being a barmaid in their mother’s restaurant, The Three Sisters.

When Nathaniel offers Avery a mission to retrieve his brother Xavier from a magical “bubble world” in Scotland, she agrees. Xavier’s builgean has existed since 1745 and its magical wards keep all supernaturals from entering, even other dragons. Avery ventures into the builgean, dressed as an eighteenth century highland lass, with the expectation of returning in three days with the Scottish dragon in tow.

Well, things don’t go as planned at all. There is a powerful usurper in control of Xavier’s clan and Avery must overcome a dangerous enemy in order to save her dragon. I loved watching Avery discover her strengths and exercise her cunning and her determination. It was just like seeing her spirit grow, or watching a butterfly stretch her wings for the first time. She stood up for herself, especially with Xavier, despite how masterfully sexy, masculine and possessive the Highland Dragon could be.

Avery and Xavier’s story is inspirational and full of excitement. I loved the magic, the friendships and the romance. What a bonus that it takes place within a series where the unfolding political intrigue and family drama is tremendously engaging and very seamlessly incorporated into the narrative. This should be fun for fans or newcomers alike!

I fell in love with the Treasure of Paragon series from the very first book, The Dragon of New Orleans. This is where we first meet Avery, Raven’s older sister and right hand of the bar and restaurant, The Three Sisters. As the story progressed, we see little pieces of Avery here and there, from sister to caregiver. Highland Dragon is Avery’s transformation from secondary character to badass warrior.
I thought I could not love a book more than The Dragon of Sedona. Goodness, was I wrong! What makes this story so compelling is the way Avery and Xavier are fleshed out. Yes, the story is about humans and supernatural beings, but once you start reading it becomes so much more. This is a story about transformation, from caterpillar to butterfly, and finding out the magic was always within.
I wish I could write more without giving the story away.
When you get this gem on your hands, make sure to have some tissues. You will laugh as hard as you will cry. Well done, Ms. Jack!

Outlander meets Highlander with plenty of passion and action. Avery deserves her own story and it is well told. Meeting her match in Xavier challenges her in ways she never expected. Xavier's stubbornness meets it's fiery match in Avery. What makes the story even more is Avery's natural aversion to magic and how she overcomes what others would see as a deficit. Avery and Xavier's story is unique and full of determination and grit to find a true love in each other. This entire series is phenomenal.

Another great read in the Treasures of Paragon series. I really enjoyed the story of Avery and Xavier. It definitely had a different feel than any of the other books. The world building is rich and colorful as is true to Genevieve Jacks form. Watching Avery discover herself and learn how strong she really is was a great journey. I would definitely recommend this book and I cannot wait for the next in series.
