It's always cool when you can read something, that's comes right out of your library and that just were I plucked 'Hard Bounty' out of.
Really like Ken Hodgson's writing, actually picked this one due to liking 'Hellbender' so much and just a shame that he has such a small body of work in the Western genre.
Hard Bounty, is the first of three books about bounty hunters in Texas, it takes place in Wolf Springs, Tx, out in the prairies of West Texas and it's quite the entertaining read.
Asa Cain's a bounty hunter that has aspirations of being a doctor, but that dreams dashed when his ranch gets burned down, his mother Jean and sister Sadie are missing.
Strap yourself in for a entertaining read, even with all the violence in it. Hodgson still adds interesting characters like Cemetery John, Sheriff Emil Quackenbush, Moe, Timberline, Helen and Thorn Hackenberry and that doesn't include the bad guys, guess that's Texas for you.
Don't want to give too much away, but definitely a worthy read and really like Hodgson's writing style. He wrote six total Westerns, have read two now, have two more to read and one more to find used, but it's a shame that none of his books are available yet as ebooks, the ones I read are favorites, quite good.and happy hunting since I know they are hard to find.

This book is a good book for any of those who love action adventure. I hate westerns, but this book was a book that I could not put down the second I started reading it. It launches you immediately into the action and suspense as the bounty hunter Asia Cain beings looking for truth and the men who burned his ranch and kidnapped his family. I recommend this as a must read for anyone who likes to read.
