What a beautiful read for all the single ladies! Such an amazing wisdom written in this book. It's tough to be a single Christian in a society and world where people follow less rules and with limited boundaries and temptation is strong. However God's promises and love will always prevail only if follow Him. Wouldn't mind to read this again sometime, a great guidance for all the beautiful ladies looking for the righteous and Godly man.
Thank you Ms McKinney Hammond for writing this book. She really speaks from the heart to the heart. From the very first page, this book ministered to me. The message and tools she shares are insightful and I will definitely continue to use them in my journey. This book is a must have for single ladies wanting God's best for them in a mate.
I love Ms. Hammonds books. They have been the anchors I need to remain steady and consistent while I keep my eyes on God as I wait for him to prepare my Boaz.
I enjoyed this book my Michelle McKinney Hammond, I believe I have about 8-10 of her books already. Simple, insightful, and biblically-based what more can you ask for? Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Definitely what I’ve come to expect from the author. Did not disappoint!
A terrible title. The name should be something more like, "A Study of the Book of Ruth." While not terrible deep, this book does have some things to think about.
Instead of asking us not to have premarital/extramarital sex, this book actually guides us back to the Bible by have the book of Ruth in the background. Most of the people nowadays neglected God's instruction that He does not like us to have premarital/extramarital sex; or some thought that since God is gracious, He will forgive them for doing so.
This is a really good book, but the title really doesn't do the well-delivered content any justice. The content was brought across very systematically just based on and according to the order of the entire book of Ruth. Michelle McKinney Hammond did a very relevant exposition of Ruth in relation to relationships.
Beginning from the famine in Judah, during which Elimelek's family left Bethlehem for Moab, and relating it to most people's hunger for love, she continued to give meaningful exposition relating to our modern society throughout the whole book. Instead of writing as a desperate woman looking for a partner, the author conveyed her personal trust, hope and joy in God in her writing. It was about growing to become a woman of God more than a woman of the world. She ended with the importance of parental blessings, and I really like how she concluded with the fact that marriage is about two families coming together as well.
I was encouraged by her exposition, teaching us how to follow what Ruth has done in a godly way, and encouraging us that Boaz is worth waiting for. I believe that single ladies who are still desperately seeking for a life partner fervently and having that as their current priority in life should read this book to gain insight and a different perspective. A recommendation to a friend led her to change her point of view of things, and focus on pursuing a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God instead of moping about the past. It encourages us to use the gift of singlehood to serve and bless others with our resources and our time.
The "Personal Confession" component of this book was often helpful in making me face certain presumptions I had, and bring up personal issues I was not aware of, but have affected me from my past experiences. It helped me move on from dwelling in the past (moving out of 'Moab'), and look towards God by faith each step of the way. Overall a very pleasant read.
I was very impressed with this book, although I honestly don't know what I had expected when I selected it. But it's not your run of the mill dating, get-your-man kind of book. This book follows the love story of Ruth and Boaz and uses it for it's inspiration. Along the way we're treated to nuggest of Personal Confessions which are things we can repeat over and over to ourselves, and Man Facts which will help us to understand men a little better. What I really liked about the book was that it didn't push finding a man. It promotes letting the man find you. McKinney-Hammond encourages women to understand themselves and live their lives and stand on FAITH that the perfect man will find them. She helps the reader to get ready for love spiritually, emotionally, and physically by looking deeper inside of themselves. I was totally impressed with this book, because it really can apply not just to men, but other relationships. We really need to know who we are and to know God before we can stand on Faith that love will find us. We need to follow God's plan and trust that when it's the right time, Mr. Right will find us and it will be a wonderful match. My copy has highlight marks all through it so that I can refer back to it again and again. Quite honestly, I'd recommend this to women of all ages, and I think it's a book that can be read at different times in your life and will be significant every time. I encourage anyone who's single (whether you think you're looking or not) to pick up a copy of this. It can only enlighten you!
"How ironic that in a world where everyone longs for the same thing, true love remains elusive for many. If everyone is searching for love, why is it so hard for us to find one another?"
"It is the job of a real man to find his woman, pursue her, and capture her heart. It is the job of the woman to be ready to be found."
"Just because he isn't Mr. Right doesn't mean you can't have an incredible friendship."
Just a few of many of my favorite sayings and teachings from this extremely insightful book!
I loved this book! Offers a fresh perspective from the story of Ruth and Boaz from the book of Ruth. If nothing else this book is encouraging and very applicable to every day life.
This woman had a lot of good things to say to single woman. Very real and down to earth advice, though a couple things I might not have quite totally agreed with.
