Can love survive when immortality doesn’t last forever?

Blood Brothers Series

More than a hundred years ago in old San Francisco, Kabuki actor Ryuhei Nakamura and vampire Kiyoshi Ishibe cemented an immortal love. Then at the dawn of the twentieth century, their lives were torn apart by tragedy. Now Ryuhei’s hope is reborn in the form of Jesse Shigeta, a gifted musical student. The young man is so like Ryuhei’s murdered beloved, that he believes fate has been kind in reuniting them once more, this time for eternity.

But Jesse is full of secrets. As a child, the supernaturally gifted young man discovered Kiyoshi’s soul still bound to Earth. His every intent was to reunite his ghostly friend with Ryuhei, but when Jesse falls in love with the vampire himself, he will stop at nothing to keep his place by Ryuhei’s side.

Even if that means calling upon ghost hunters to destroy Kiyoshi.

Barbara Sheridan grew up a fan of historical novels, TV westerns and most anything having to do with the paranormal.
She often writes in the romance sub-genres of contemporary, historical, and paranormal.

She also acquired a fondness for all things royalty related, J-rock, and cheezy films. These varied interests mashed themselves together to shape her writing and led to characters who surely inhabit an alternate universe–and get into who knows what trouble without her supervision.

Barbara lives in Pennsylvania and loves hearing from readers and others who share her interests, as well as being able to “meet” them via social media.

Lost Souls wraps up the story of Kiyoshi Ishibe which began in Blood Brothers and developed in other books part of the Dragon's Disciple series. Kiyoshi's relationship with Nakamura Ryuhei is related in Soul of the Night.
As I read Lost Souls, I admit to being biased against Jesse Shigeta a young man gifted with musical talents and the ability to see and interact with Kiyoshi's tormented spirit who longs for Ryuhei. Although Jesse insists he is not simply a fan of Nakamura Ryuhei, a famous musician now music executive, he has fallen in love with Ryuhei through the relationship Kiyoshi narrated to him over the years.
Jesse is given the opportunity to study at Ryuhei's institute in Tokyo where his original intent to assist Kiyoshi find the musician turns into a vicious love triangle. To me, Jesse was nothing more than a selfish-brat who overlooked his friendship with Kiyoshi's ghost to indulge in his infatuation with Ryuhei. The young man easily sensed Ryuhei's vulnerability due to the century apart from Kiyoshi and decides he can replace the musician's lost love...
Paranormal researchers Matt Gavin and Haku Nishimura* arrive in Tokyo and meet with Jesse to pursue a new case and enters into a situation which will test their abilities.
The story is full of twists and turns, betrayal and a spectacular ending for our favorite vampires.

*Matt and Haku have their own adventure in Parallel Process.
