He's the black sheep of the family, and she's a chemist who understands formulas, not emotions. Can Preacher and Charlie take their quirks and turn them into a strong relationship this Christmas?
Preacher Glover doesn't feel like he fits in the loud, loving Glover Family. He's been trying to mend bridges that have been charred and figure out who he really is—and who he wants to be—but it's a slow process that leaves him frustrated and impatient most of the time.
Charlie Perkins knows which chemicals mix and which ones cause an explosion. She doesn't understand why her female friends sigh into their sodas on the weekends or why they're not satisfied with having a great career even though they're single. She thinks she doesn't belong in her friend group, and she's looking for something new.
When she runs into Preacher at a present-wrapping event, the reaction running through her reminds her of the volatile experiments she performs in the lab. The attraction for Preacher is instant too, and they start down a path that includes holding hands, kissing, and discovering exactly who they each are.
But when they find themselves on opposite sides of a divisive issue in Three Rivers, will everything that Preacher and Charlie have built blow up? Or will they be able to weather this holiday storm and come out a stronger couple?

When you’re one of twelve, it’s easy to feel like you’re lost in the crowd. Keep the tissues handy during this one because it’s definitely an emotional roller-coaster. There’s a lot going on in this book besides Preacher and Charlie’s story. And, even though I love knowing what’s going on in the lives of all those other Glovers, there were times I found myself wishing we could spend a bit more time with our hero and heroine. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but this is probably the one book in the series that I’ve connected with the most deeply. It tugged hard at my heartstrings and made me feel like a part of this amazing family. I can’t wait to see what the author will bring us with the next Glover story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Preacher and Charlie's story touched me the most of the series so far. There were scenes that had tears streaming down my face. The course of true love doesn't run easy!
This is book six of the Shiloh Ridge Ranch in Three Rivers Romance series and tells the story of Preacher Glover and Charlie Perkins. Preacher believes himself to be the black sheep of his family and mostly ignored by his brothers, sister and even his cousins. He prefers his own company and is another that dislikes large groups or lots of noise. He’s burnt quite a few bridges with family members and is working on trying to fix them, but it is something that takes him a very long time to do. Charlie is an intelligent single woman, busy starting up a new venture making ice cream using liquid nitrogen, along with her work as a chemist for one of the new businesses HealNow, in one of the two the massive high rise towers in town, which were not welcome by many in town, as well as her very lucrative role as a gamer, where she goes by the name of The Chemist. He meets her by chance, at a family wedding, where she is running a kiosk, creating her ice cream, and he has a date with him. The date was going badly and Preach knew on first sight that Charlie was the woman for him and gave her a hundred dollar bill with his telephone number on it, hoping she would call him. But since she had realised he was with a date already, who was right beside him whilst they got ice creams, she thinks he is an arrogant and a complete player and wants nothing to do with him!
She meets him again in the mall, where she was looking to set up her ice cream kiosk or maybe expand into a store front, and is still attracted to him, even more so when she finds out he and some of his family play video games together. He explains about the telephone number and the date that was so unsuitable for him and she agrees to go out with him on a date. Preacher makes the hour long journey from the ranch every time they are seeing each other, whether it be to go out or spend an evening in together, or even watch her do her gaming sessions to her fans, but after months still hasn’t introduce her to his family, nor taken her out to the ranch to meet everybody. Even when they both end up at church, he doesn’t sit with her or introduce her, only once sitting with her near the back, not with his family at the front! Preacher has been given a promotion on the ranch, which means a lot more work for him as foreman now, as well as learning how to do everything in this new role and still do a lot of his normal duties. It means long hours and his body and mind start to suffer from the lack of rest. But if he wants to see Charlie at least once a month, then he has to sacrifice sleep, as the work never seems to end.
Even Charlie tries to offer to come to him, as he is working more hours than her, even though she also changes up some of her work roles and has more to do as well, but he always refuses. This leads to an avoidable accident, late one night and the results of it could force Preacher and Charlie apart forever. Their relationship has been almost non-existent for months and he seems to have been ashamed of her, never letting her meet his family. They now have a difficult period of time, with Preacher being even more stubborn than normal, not knowing what might happen, forcing Charlie away from him and giving her time to decide what she wants to do. At least the women in the family have kept talking to her on the women’s chat group they set up, kind of like the men’s family news group where they make announcements all the time. News of pregnancies and births, plus a new friendship keeps Charlie in the women of the family’s group chat, even though she hasn’t really been introduced properly by Preacher.
Preacher has to make a decision about his future and what he wants from it and who he wants to share it with, or if he will continue to be all alone, within his family! The holidays are coming up and it should be a chance to make up with those he has distanced himself from and sort any issues that should be resolved before any festivities and family gatherings happen. He needs to make the first step to fix things if he really wants to have Charlie in his life and introducing her to the rest of the family is a big step that he really needs to get done, for their relationship to survive. Something he should have done long ago, but his personality and feelings of being ignored by the others, have left him feeling inferior in many ways and it is something he is working on, to see himself as others do! Lots of news of babies and new relationships, not just Preacher and Charlie, as others in the family begin to realise they don’t want to be left behind. Finding someone they can love and who loves them in return, is even more of a choice when they can see the happiness in others around them. Although this book is mainly about Preacher and Charlie, it has so many others involved in the storyline as well. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Do Preacher and Charlie make it to their Forever 💞?
I ❤️ that the Glover Family's stories continue in this Novel. I ❤️ how quickly Engrossed, I got in it. Master Storyteller, Liz Isaacson, has created another Outstanding, Western Romance, with Relatable Characters in "The Chemistry of Christmas"!
The way Preacher Glover sees himself, and the way his family sees him, aren't the same. How does God help Preacher reconcile the two? Charlie is very analytical, and doesn't access her emotions, like other women. How does God help Charlie with this? Charlie and Preacher fall in 💗, but can they make it to HEA? I Highly Recommend You Get Lost in this 6th Book, in the "Shiloh Ridge Ranch in 3 Rivers Romance" series, to find out! ❤️📖 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a quick, fun, Holiday read. The characters were entertaining, and the story line was good, and the entire book leaves you in the mood for some Christmas magic.
When you come from a large, loud family, it's natural that you either have to be louder than everyone else or you fade into the background. For Preacher, it's the latter. But when he starts falling for Charlie, the lovely professional gamer/scientist/small business owner, he comes to a crossroads between wanting to keep her all to himself so they won't be the center of attention if he introduces her to his family and wanting her to fully be a part of his life. But as time goes on, she begins to wonder if he's embarrassed by her because he won't introduce her to his family.
What a cast of characters this book had! I enjoyed all of the different personalities and appreciated the family tree that was included at the beginning of the book because I would have gotten confused otherwise. Siblings, cousins, significant others, and potential love interests all showed up en force. It was chaos, but you could tell that it was a loving chaos.
The storyline was great. I liked the dynamic between Preacher and Charlie simply because they really had quite different personalities. She puts a lot of her life online and he's totally private. But as they slowly get to know each other, they find that they have a lot more in common than just video games. I also liked how the family had all of these traditions that meant so much to them and how they all worked together to keep the business going.,
The only thing I didn't really care for in the story was how the point of view kept changing. I think I would have preferred if it had only been Charlie and Preacher since the book was primarily about them. However, all of a sudden, sometimes in the middle of chapters, the point of view would change to that of a sibling or cousin. I'm not sure why that was done, but it did make me pause and think because I now had to take on a completely different train of thought and it did take me out of the book quite a bit.
But overall I did like it and would recommend it to others.

The Chemistry of Christmas is the romance story of Preacher and Charlie. He met Charlie as she was making her ice cream at Ida's wedding. She was a chemist and had come up with the recipe of making ice cream using nitrogen. It also made a big show due to the steam the nitrogen made. Even though Preacher had a girl with him that night Charlie really made an impression on him so he wrote his name and phone number on a $100 bill and dropped it in her tip jar. When she never called he started watching for her when he was out and seen her when he was at the mall with some of the other guys that played gaming online together. They start dating but Preacher keeps their relationship a secret. Preacher never invited her to the ranch except for his Mother's wedding. She kept trying to get him to let her come to the ranch and he kept making excuses. Months later he makes a comment when taking her home from their date about going ring shopping. She tells him not until she meets all of his family. His excuses starts again and she finally asks if he was ashamed of her. That fight lasts until they get to her home and she goes inside and shuts the door and will not open it when Preacher starts to knocking. He leaves upset and way to tired to drive an hour back to the ranch and he nods off and comes back too he sees deer in the road and flips his Mustang and it lands on the side trapping Preacher's legs under the dash. All alone out on a lonely road near midnight he comes to and trys to call for help but he passed out with only saying a few words. When a Glover is in trouble all the family and any friends they can get come to their rescue. Is this the end of Preacher?
This is my honest review from reading an advanced copy of the book.
This is a slow burn romance between two people have have always felt like misfits among their family and friends. Both are loners, more comfortable alone or within a small group, but when they meet both feel an instant connection. Both are hesitant about commitment having been hurt in the past and want to take time to get to know one another. It takes a while before they actually date (he was with another woman when they met), but they find that they are both gamers and challenge each other on line. While he working on the family ranch and from a very wealthy family, Charlie is a chemist and a pro gamer. Her main source of income is her gaming (let’s just say she makes an obscene amount of money doing that), but she does work part as a chemist and making ice cream using liquid nitrogen. Her intelligence and the gaming have made for a rather solitary life.
Once they start dating, they get on well, and really seem to connect on most levels, though Charlie doesn’t understand why Preacher never allows her to come to ranch. He always drives an hour to meet her for their dates, often after working hard all day. She begins to believe he is ashamed for her to meet and get to know his family. She doesn’t know that they are both dealing with insecurities and personal doubts. Questions run through Charlie’s mind. Is he ashamed of her or ashamed of his family? Is there another reason for keeping her away from his family? A fight sends him on his way home, tired and upset, and he is involved in a serious car accident. This accident could change everything between them. Read this captivating book to discover how the rest of Charlie and Preacher’s story unfolds.

Keeping up with the Glover Family is fun as there are weddings, births and lots of interaction between these cousins and siblings and the growing lists of spouses and girlfriends. This series is really best if read in order to understand the story-lines as they overlap from book to book. There is lots of love in this family as well as some problems that need to be solved in relationships between siblings. The main character in this book is Preacher Glover who feels like he gets lost amongst all of the other family members. He doesn't realize what he really has to offer even when his family gives him a new position supervising all of the things to do with the animals on the ranch. He loves his growing relationship with Charlie Perkins but he doesn't want to share her with the rest of his family. Keeping her to himself may just cause him a lot of grief. Charlie Perkins has a very busy life, as a veterinary chemist working at the new facility in town that the locals resent. She also has a funky ice cream business using liquid nitrogen that she has been doing for special occasions. She would love to have a store front or place in the mall to grow that business. Her greatest income comes from being a professional video gamer. She's always been a little afraid of letting her walls down to let a man in, but she's willing to take that chance with Preacher. Will their busy schedules and lack of time together get in the way of their growing relationship?

I can totally understand how Preacher feels being that I am from a large family too and not being one of the more important ones of the family. Preacher feels he doesn't fit in in his large family and that no one would even notice if he wasn't there. But he keeps hearing the words of his dad's letter that he is the bridge of the family between the younger and the older as he is the middle child. When he starts dating Charlie, he doesn't want to introduce her to the family because he wants to keep her to himself and not share her with them. After they are dating for a while a few of the family see them together but he still doesn't take her to meet the whole family. When he starts talking about getting married, they kind of have a fight because she says she is not going to wait until the wedding day to meet his family and she is not going to live on the ranch and not be involved with the family. When he leaves her house that night, he ends up falling asleep while driving. Bear calls her the next morning to let her know that Preacher was in an accident and is in the hospital. They have a fight after he wakes up and she leaves telling him she needs some time to think. Will Preacher and Charlie be able to work things out or will his stubborn pride get the better of him?
I liked this book. As usual, there were a lot of characters discussed in it. Somehow, it didn't seem as confusing as some of the other books. I think you could probably read this as a standalone. I believe it would be more enjoyable if you read them in order, but, I think if this was the first book you read in the series, it would tempt you to read the other books.
Preacher and Charlie fit so well together. I thought it was so sad that Preacher felt invisible in his family. I also felt badly for Charlie. She had the 3 friends she went to lunch with regularly, and her sister, yet she still seemed lonely.
It took me awhile to understand Preacher's reluctance to introduce Charlie to his family. It was much more his issue than anything his family had done or not done. I also liked that the Glover family had such a strong faith. The writer emphasizes it in various ways, but never attempts to shove it down the readers throats.
Preacher and Charlie had this kind of slow burn relationship while having an intense attraction to one another. They really liked each other, respected one another's talents, and enjoyed the time they spent together. This was a really sweet romance filled with emotions, and an HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Preacher has always felt like an outsider in his large family and that he doesn’t fit in. He is only close to a couple of his brothers and on the outs with his sister. Charlie is on the shy side and only drops her guard when she is online gaming. They begin their relationship, such as it is, gaming because it’s an environment where they are most comfortable. He is good at what he does on the ranch and is being groomed to take over as a foreman. Besides gaming, she is a part time chemist and is developing a unique ice cream business. As his family is so loud and overwhelming, he is afraid they will scare her off so he keeps her to himself. She is dismayed and not overly comfortable with him keeping her a secret. This is another well written book and is just as interesting and entertaining as the other books in the series. Actually in all of her books. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
I just love this family and this series. I loved learning more about Preacher. He is so quiet and loves to be in the background and out of the spot light. Many times in this book Preacher was put in the spot light and had to learn how to handle that. I love Charlie and how smart and ambitious she is. Her ice cream sounds amazing! I think it is so neat that she goes to the different schools and shows experiments. I think if they would have done that in my school I would have liked chemistry. It was fun and interesting to watch Preacher and Charlie's relationship and to watch them learn how to communicate and trust. This story had a couple of heartbreaking things happen that had you holding your breath. There were many baby announcements and some babies born which is very exciting. I can't wait to read the next book in this series
I absolutely love this series! This is the story of Preacher and Charlie. Preacher doesn’t really know how to court Charlie, and she is suspicious of Preacher at the beginning. When they each start letting the other know more about themselves, it gets going very well. I had to laugh when Preacher finally got to go to Charlie’s home, and he couldn’t believe how big her house was. And when they finally started telling how much money they had, it was hilarious! They did have some issues – especially because Preacher wanted to keep Charlie away from the rest of the family. She didn’t take kindly to that. It has so many cute things – but lookout! There is some really hard stuff in this one as well. I can’t wait for the next one!
(I received an advance copy from the author. This is absolutely my own opinion!)
You will love the Glover’s at Shiloh Ridge! When Preacher sees Charlie for the first time he slips her a $100 bill with his name and phone number. She thinks he is some arrogant cowboy that carries them around just to give to women he meets. They become friends through gaming but he really wants to see her and ask her out. She is very busy with her gaming, lab work and her new ice cream business. He is just taking over as one of the foremen at the ranch which is a 24/7/365 job. They have a lot to process to make their relationship work but you will love the journey! Once again you will see how the family comes together in a crisis and also in good times. The love and commitment between family members is refreshing. It’s easy to relate to older main characters that have complex issues and histories. Don’t miss this new clean, inspirational romance from Liz Isaacson!
This is the story of Preacher Glover, he never really has felt "an important part" of the big family he is in. He starts dating Charlie, in a very cute way, their relationship is GREAT, but his insecurity with his family really causes some issues. I LOVE Charlie, she is so smart, a chemist, and she is a gamer, which is a fun thing to get a glimpse into in this book. Preacher takes his insecurity over to his relationship with Charlie, not feeling like he is enough for her either. This book is touching, it has a bit of tragedy, and new babies, people who want babies, break-ups, it has it all. I am LOVING this saga and cannot wait for the next one. The author spins a very realistic tale the draws you in from the start. Even the sad parts wont make you regret reading this. I cannot wait for the next one!!
I love Charlie and Preacher story. They are such a cute couple and opposites definitely are attracted to each other. A perfect match as they get to know each other. The Glover family is very large and Preacher wants to keep Charlie to himself and not share. The whole family has been asking to meet her and Charlie feels hurt when he doesn't take her to the ranch. Enjoyed reading about alot of his family. Charlie was getting upset not meeting his family until Preacher was in a car accident. This book is a wonderful story of true love and will not disappoint. I enjoyed the Three Rives series and look forward to her next book. Liz writes such clean stories and I just enjoyed the book and could not put down. Looking forward to more Glover family books. I received an ARC of this book and I am giving an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. This is a series and while you can read each book as a stand alone there will be a lot of characters and situations you won't get the most out of if you do. I highly recommend this full series, they are a wonderful family and the dynamics between the siblings and cousins is something to see. I loved this book about Preacher and Charlie, they are simply a wonderful couple trying to figure out how to balance busy lives with falling in love. I won't spoil anything but Preacher must go through what he does to see his worth, it's something everyone but him can see. Charlie has to experience it also to see that she isn't limited by her experiences and she can be more than she thought. Just a wonderful clean read about a sweet couple and the issues they face. Love the whole series .
This is a clean love story and so much more. This revolves around the lives and loves of the Glover family. It has such character development with a couple of main characters in each story but the secondary characters are numerous and play vital roles. The plot is unique and and the challenges to the relationships feels real. I found it easy to become immersed in this story. Not wanting to put it down. I’m thrilled that it is a series because I definitely want more. But it is really not a standalone. These stories build on each other and should really be read in order. I think it would be confusing and off putting to jump around. They build one upon the next including all members of the family. The story line is rich and you can picture the ranch and town easily with all the details. This is a clean Christian romance with some kissing but in my opinion would be suitable for all ages. Especially if you love you a handsome, modest, rich cowboy.
The story was fine but the narrator (I think her name was Bella?!?!) was awful! She kept pronouncing normal words so off that I started mimicking the way she’d say it and giggle that I’d end up so distracted by it that I’d rewind it to get back into the story. She was also the narrator 2 stories back in this series and I cringed back then. She also threw me off with her voice changes. Sometimes was using her normal lady voice as the male voice then vice versa. It made no sense! Or her pitch would be sooo obviously deep then too whiny another and it didn’t matter if she was speaking in a male or female voice. It was very inconsistent. I hope the next story reverts back to the main narrator (Sarah Nessel I believe…I could be getting it wrong again)
I love this family and this series! Every book let's me get to know them more and more, they are so connected to each other that so are their stories. I loved Preacher, he was such a good man, not perfect but definitely good, his journey wasn't an easy one but worth it in the end. He and Charlie were great together and I really liked how strong their connection was. This is a story packed with emotions, love, support, honesty, healing, understanding, forgiveness and having God centre in your life. I am looking forward to Ward's story next.

I had an Advance Readers Copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. This is another great book in this series by Liz Isaacson. Each book gets better and I really enjoy the way she incorporates the whole family and each person’s unique personality and problems. This book features the romance between Preacher who just took over as a foreman on the ranch and Charlie a chemist who has several interests. Problems arise when he keeps her from his family and won’t allow her to visit the ranch. I highly recommend this book and series.
This was a great book to read. I really liked Charlie and Preacher. There were very unique and there was a lot to them as people. I really like how Liz incorporates others from this very large family to learn more about them but to hook you into the next in the series. It was a great story to ready and I thoroughly enjoyed it! This story brought tears to my eyes and I NEEDED to finish it to find out how it ended. Thank you for a great story!!!

Paul "Preacher" Glover comes from a large family one that makes him feel invisible. Charlie is a chemist that makes ice cream with nitrogen and Preacher is attracted to her. They start dating and after a while he still has not taken her to the family ranch to meet his family and she thinks he is ashamed of her but then he starts talking about getting engaged and she still has not met his family they have a argument. While driving home he has an accident and his family call Charlie to let her know what happened. Will Preacher and Charlie have their HEA?
How do I describe the relationship between Preacher and Charlie? Dramatic! This novel is plotted with unexpected conflict, which makes it a really good, unputdownable read. Who knew internet gaming could be so intense and Charlie (the female protag) is an expert in this field. When they meet, it is dislike at first sight, because she thinks Preacher (a wonderful name by the way) is a player. Hello..not so fast. They have so many issues to resolve before they get to their happy for now, you are going to want to read through to the end.
There’s more than just chemistry between Preacher and Charlie, the two make a great couple. It was fun to watch them learn about each other. I was worried when Preacher was hurt but the author set everything up right. This was a wonderful story with humour and a love interest for Preacher. I would recommend this book to all. My favourite part in this book was when Charlie finds Preacher’s ornament made by his grandmother. I won’t say what it was but Oh My!

This is a fun and enjoyable read. You find yourself laughing, crying, and moments where you're like, wait, what? You're swept up in the story line and you'll find it hard to stop turning the pages. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and you'll easily fall in love with them. Long before you read the last words, you'll feel like you've known the characters your entire life and you'll feel like you're right there with them throughout the story.

As each story in the Glover series emerges, I fall deeper in love with this family. Somehow, Liz Isaacson continues to weave her magic as she brings forth each new novel, immersing her readers into the ongoing lives of each family member. While this book primarily is about Preacher and Charlie, the simultaneous happenings of the other family members are included. This enhances each story and yields continuity throughout the entire series. The quality of the writing and plots are trademarks of this amazing author and I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
Preacher met Charlie as his sister's wedding, she was running an icecream stall, when he paid her he put his number on the note, she was Not impressed! He tries again but he doesn't want her to meet his family, there are lots of them, they're noisy and he always feels outside the group. They're getting on better but one night she pushes to meet his family, he leaves in anger. They need to sort themselves out, can Preacher change enough to communicate better with everyone.
