Carmela Morgan follows through on everything. Her failed marriage - until death, it did part, her devotion to her daughter as a single parent, and her pen pal of twenty-five years from the United Kingdom. Now that her long-distance friendship with Paul Masterson is face to face, she realizes a lifetime of letters doesn’t mean she knows him at all. Her sultry neighbor, Milo, isn’t helping untangle her love life. Her fresh start in a new country is turning into a hot mess. With her new clan of snarky females along for the ride, Mel realizes she needs to make some decisions before she loses her second chance.
What an adorable story! I didn’t know which team to be on and was captivated by each page of this book. The storyline makes it so hard to put down and is still on my mind days later. I already have a book friend mad at me because she didn’t get any sleep last night after I told her she must read this book... sorry, not sorry! You’ll really enjoy everything about the story and characters. Enjoy! And I really can’t wait to see what’s next from Liz Hambleton
Color me impressed by this debut novel. Mel and Milo and Paul....what a mess. And while I was reasonably certain where it was all going to crash into a wall, I wasn’t sure HOW. And I definitely wasn’t prepared for just how hard Milo would work at getting it all right. I’m really enjoying the people of this street and town, so I’ll be waiting to see who gets their well-deserved happiness next.
This was a fantastic and interesting read. The author slowly reveals a little more with each passing chapter keeping you reading from page one to the end. The letters between pen pals were perfectly placed throughout the story to push the story further. And Milo was the quiet brooding type that is totally swoon worthy! I love the bravery that Mel showed and it was great to see how her character grows throughout the story. Well done!
I loved the idea of pen pals becoming more over the years but loved the twists and turns this story took! Mel had been through so much and to have secrets and some deceit added to it helped me to continue to root for me. Also absolutely loved the girl gang in the book. Everyone needs friends like she had!! So worth th read!!
Character development 10/10 Plot development 10/10 The ending 10/10
I am a sucker for love stories. I devoured this book in about three hours, I could not stop reading! It’s a great, quick read with a wonderful plot. I loved this book, and I’m excited about reading more from Adeline!!
I stayed up until 2AM reading this. I was enamored with the main characters from the get go. I had formed some hypothesis about what was happening but when the truth came out I was blown away.
This book was just what I needed. After reading so many young adult romances, it was great to find a really well written contemporary novel about love in your 30’s. Throw in some beefy male leads and complete adoration, I’m in love!
This boom is a rollercoaster you never want to get off. It's sweet, spicy, hectic and draws you into loving the characters. This book has let me enjoy reading again after not being able to pick up a book for a year! Thank you Liz for writing my gateway back to the wonderful world of books.
This was not another cheesy romance novel. It had the right amount of steam and the dialogue felt realistic and natural. A perfect beach read or stuck-at-home-winter-read if you’re looking for a quick and enjoyable romance!
I'll tell you I thought I was so smart and I knew exactly what was coming. Turns out I was wrong. This is a fun fast read that might throw you for a loop.
What a strange book? I really don't know what to make of it. I will say that it started off strong but then crashed and burned. The plot got too convoluted with too many side characters, and I began to lose interest.
