What a fantastic addition to The Power Series! I highly recommend listening to the first two books before this one... is covers the same series of events from the second book but from a different perspective. This is Bianca’s story!
I’m amazed at how Starr Z. Davies was able to tell the same general story, but have it be so different. Thank you for expanding on your tale and giving us a whole new take on things.
Jillian R Shelton gave a very entertaining performance. She was the perfect voice for Bianca.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated by Jillian R Shelton, this harrowing final piece of the Powers Series is focused on Bianca Pond and the haunting personal betrayals she faces at the hands she thought she could put her trust in: Paragon, the Directorate... and even her own brother. Justice is coming and as Bianca unravels her own personal hell to understand the haunting truth behind those in control of Elpis... and a brighter future rising out of the ruins of the shattered world. Wonderfully poignant and deeply intense that gives this already harrowing series a very dark memorable edgy tone. Highly recommended.
This book continues a wonderful series. I love everything about this. If you like a little sci-fi mixed with dystopian this series is one you should really check out!
(Extra)Ordinary is told from seventeen-year-old Bianca Pond’s point of view. It is the same great story from book two Unique in The Powers Series but is told through Bianca’s voice this time around.
Although I loved Unique I also loved getting the story through Bianca’s eyes. It's sort of like getting a whole new story when it comes from someone else voice. Getting a story from someone else perspective means getting to know that person better. No one sees a story the same. One person may see something totally different than someone else or they may notice things that others may not.
Bianca has been taken in by the Directorate who has turned her into a mean green fighting machine. She is stronger and faster than ever before. Not only that but the Paragon has altered her memory.
After a visit from her past Bianca starts to see the Directorate in a different light. Things are not what they seem on the surface. She soon learns that the Directorate may not have their best interest at heart. Bianca’s memory starts to play tricks on her leading her to suspect that everyone is lying to her.
What is going on? What are they hiding from her? Or are they hiding things from her?
I fell in love with The Power Series from the first book Ordinary. I also loved reading (Extra)Ordinary and getting the story from Bianca’s point of view. I liked getting to know her and seeing the world through her eyes.
I would love to see The Powers Series on the big screen. I would love to see the transformation of all the characters when they gained their strength and their special abilities.
I would recommend (Extra)Ordinary to sci-fi and dystopian fans. One-click your copy of (Extra)Ordinary today! But I would like to suggest that you read the first book Ordinary and then book two Unique before reading (Extra)Ordinary for a more enjoyable experience.
Extraordinary by Starr Z. Davies is the third and final book of the Powers Series. While the first two books were compelling reads, Extraordinary was a very good ending to the series.
Extraordinary is written in Bianca’s point of view and because of that, many of the scenes throughout the story are well-known to the reader. But this time the reader gets to see things through different eyes, thoughts, emotions, and actions. While this may make this novel seem less compelling, it is very helpful in understanding some of the things that happened and why they happened as they did.
In addition to that, there are several scenes in the last third of the novel that the reader was not aware of because the character, whose point of view the first two books were told from, was not present in these scenes. These particular scenes are filled with lots of action and fighting for those of you who loved the many scenes of action and fighting in the first two stories. Starr Z. Davies’ decision to include Bianca’s perspective in an entire novel helped to really tie all three books together and give the series a good solid ending.
If you like stories of superheroes with a sci-fi flavor with lots of action and fight scenes I highly recommend the Power series by Starr Z. Davies. You may even gain a new perspective on super powers by reading these books.
Davies pens a unique Dystopian story in (extra)ORDINARY. I have read work, especially the books that came before this one, from this author before, and I really enjoyed them. Bianca is a fighting machine, created just for that. It's an amazing transformation, and yet, some parts of Bianca are still human. I recommend reading the first two books, even though this can be standalone. The story runs alongside the other stories, and is told from Bianca's POV. I'm glad her story was told, and how it interrelates with the other stories and characters. The story brings in the believable, even if almost impossible. It is always a joy to read this author's stories. This author is not just a writer but a great storyteller. I loved following this story. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author. This book is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews.
Till now the awesome author Starr Z. Davies gave us the the first two of this so fçtrilogy which came from the hero of this story called Ugine Powers, on this third one we get the story from the vision of Bianca Pond. And as usual the author does it beautifully with her amazing penmanship style. Even so that this book can be read or heard as is own, my absolute advice is to listen nn to the first two, only then move to this awesome afterthought one which completes and fills up any off the unknowns, I believe it’s a must, I also believe that you’ll thank me for this advice.
Beautiful narration by Jillian R. Shelton for all of the characters in this creation.
OK, I have to be honest, Bianca was never my favorite, but I loved the duology, so I was eager to read more... :)
The story runs parallel with the original duology. There were some familiar scenes but told from a different perspective, different eyes, different emotions, as long as a whole lot of new stuff. :)
Seeing what went down from her side, gives the story a whole another dimension and understanding of her character.
It's a page-turner for sure. :) There are lots of action and intense scenes. Bianca is still not my favorite, but I feel like I understand her action a lot more and she is starting to grow on me. :)
Thank you to Starr for allowing me to read this third book in the series early! All opinions are my own.
I’ve really enjoyed this series. It gives such an interesting dynamic between fantasy and sci-fi. I love her ability to blend these genres but still maintain a nice romance/family relationship. I’ve noticed with a lot of books in this category can lose that a little bit.
I think this is such a unique addition to this series and gives you insight to Bianca. What happened, her motives, and what the opposition from books one and two were thinking. I also liked getting to know Bianca more as a character. I loved her in the other books and enjoyed seeing her the main focus.
If you liked books one and two, i think you’ll really enjoy this!
This third part to the series rehashes the events that happened in book two. However, It has a different, fresh feel to it because it is from Bianca's point of view. At the end of book 1, Ugene left his friend, Bianca, for dead as he escaped from Paragon. Book 3 tells us the story of what happened next to Bianca while Ugene was off doing his thing saving the city from tyranny. This story tied up some loose threads and filled in some gaps left over from book 2. Nice way to end the series.
A great addition to this trilogy, it’s basically the first book retold from Bianca’s point of view. At first I thought it would be repetitive to read/listen to the same events again, but I was so wrong! Definitely don’t miss out on this one! I loved hearing Bianca’s telling of events and what happened to her. The narrator on these audiobooks is wonderful and so easy to listen to.
This was taken from a different view point than Eugene but it worked very well. We see what damage was done for others from the Directorate and Parragon. Seeing this opens the eyes to more of the world, and the sadness it holds. Well done.
I loved having the opportunity to see everything from Bianca’s view point. It made the storyline for the whole series make sense to me. The anger, the resentment, the fight.
