The smart thing to do is get out of town immediately, dragon in tow, but as soon as she arrives in Vegas for some easy money on a simple case, there’s more going on than meets the eye. Nikki Haverstock is a writer who lives on a cattle ranch high in the Rocky Mountains. She has studied comedy writing at Second City and has published 6 cozy mysteries that are heavy on the humor.
Before fleeing the city, she hosted a competitive archery reality show, traveled the world to study volcanoes, taught archery and computer science at a university and now works on her family’s ranch herding cattle. Nikki has more college degrees than she has sense and hopefully one day she will put one to work.
Nikki likes to write comedy pieces that focus on the everyday humor of one-uppers, annoying family members and strange behavior of the ultra-rich. She tried stand up but the cattle weren’t impressed.
Sam and Vanessa are trying to get her to go to a party with them to relax. She really doesn’t want to go.
She gets a call from Bear asking her to do a quick reading for him, and while there she gets a call that her friends are at the hospital from an explosion at the casino their party was at.
Between worrying about her friends, and keeping away from the Black Hat Mages that are looking for a dragon and the mage that’s keeping him.
Ella has her hands Full
Pro’s:
Developed characters, a good bit of humor, a solid plot line, and lots of surprises.
This is my favorite!! I loved Mac's character when he entered the cast in book 5....it felt like waiting for this book took a long time but it was SOO worth it. I love Ella's love for her familiars and the way they love her back. I greatly sympathize with her need for "alone" time to relax and recharge. And I understand why its so difficult to find that time..... This plot has so many facets showing in previous books and coming forward to this current episode, and I admire the author working in extra tidbits of surprise. Reading the series is a great adventure with humor, regret and optimism as Ella grows to be 'herself'. Highly recommended🐲🐉
I’ve read four books in the series and have enjoyed all of them. The character development of Ella and her friends as well as the explanation of the world view flow in the so you are informed without being distracted.
In this story, Ella is really catching up on her missed magical training, but that comes with being tired and other problems. Her dragon familiar plays a major part in the story and this is, in part, about the development of their bond.
Ella seems to collect at least one new friend in each book this is no exception.
A fun mystery with a touch of romance and plenty of paranormal. Quirky characters and quirkier familiars along with a well plotted mystery keeps this story a quick, easy read.
Monza Ella has her hands full. The feared Black Hat Mages are investigating the report of a mage that has a dragon which is a big no no. Her loft is set to be enlarged so contractors are underfoot. When she takes a job for Bear out of town to get Mac (the dragon) out of the way she ends up having to work with Vin. Can her week get any worse?
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
Loved this book! I was on the edge of my seat most of the time wondering what I'd going on with the black hat mages and whether they would find what they were looking for and who they would find it with! All that on top of crimes being committed and needing to be solved makes for some interesting reading! Can't wait to see what happens next! I voluntarily received and read an ARC for an honest review.
Absolutely loved this book. Cannot wait for the next one. Ella and her familiars are going along fine until the black mages so up along with a murder and a jewelry heist. How are these heists happening and who is behind it? What are the black hat mages going to do and what does it mean for Ella and what about the prophecy. Read on to find out.
This book kept me spellbound. The story is built around my new favorite character, Mac the Dragon. Ella is tired and facing greater danger than ever before. A fabulous plot, well developed characters and brilliant writing move the story along at a nice pace. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
A really good story which mixes magic and genius and sheer good luck to solve the crime of the disappearing gemstones, the murder of twin acrobats while avoiding black hat mages. I did find some of the words confusing but that is of because this is book 6 in the series.
Confidence is beautiful. Watching Ella grow more confident in her abilities and her learning to enjoy in being herself is amazing. Dragons are Forever is an interesting mystery but the joy of this story for me is Ella’s growth and the delight she takes in her loved ones.
This book has everything that makes a great cozy mystery with wonderful characters, an intriguing mystery and a bit of humor. It seems life is settling for Ella and she's happier with her life. Excellent read!
As if her life wasn't complicated enough. While she's trying to work, hide her dog/dragon and train the black hat mages start dogging her. This book shows her skills growing ever stronger and I am anxious to see just how strong she can become.
Wow! This book was amazing! Ella and Vin working together was amazing. Hope that they will be working more together with Vanessa. Also, the changes to the loft are amazing! Looking forward to the next book in this series!
This was an accidental read but as a fluke I couldn't and wouldn't ask for anything better. And the ending, well I can only say you need to read this book...on purpose.
