Ancient Power. Organised Crime. Welcome to Tower City.
War has come to Tower City. The battle at Blanco mansion created a shift of balance in the criminal underworld, and the assassin Harlequin plans to capitalise on the chaos.
The police are being overwhelmed. Deputy Inspector Ellie Reynolds wants to prove herself, but a baffling new case has her searching for a killer that defies explanation.
Trying to avoid the mayhem is Sabina Bellerose, a fortune teller with only days to live. She's spent half her life looking to the future, but her past is finally catching up. Only one person seems interested in her survival: a broad-shouldered man with a face scarred by fire, who seeks strange answers to even stranger questions.
He calls himself Prometheus.

Voodoo Games is part two in the new urban fantasy series Tower City Chronicles. The author describes this as a gritty, character-driven series that tells the story not of an individual, but of a place. Because in Tower City anything can happen...

The only bad thing about this book is that I now have to wait for the next one. Violence, sex, gods, gangsters, mystery and surprises... what more could one want on a book. Loved some of the characters, feared some and often they were the same. Can’t wait to see where the story heads next. There is definitely some unfinished business.
Action packed murder and mayhem with drug gangs, assassins and ancient Gods, plus a few other nasties thrown in. A wonderful exploration of new sectors of Tower City. The descriptions of characters, escapes and adventures really bring the city to life. We are also introduced to new characters, new magics and new histories of individuals. All this creates a rich background to this world.
Some favourite characters continue to reap death and destruction ... sometimes even just accidentally. Others are in the background. And I was never quite sure who was going to live and who was going to die. A fast paced fantasy thriller in a gritty but richly visualised world that I just could not put down.
The second in the series, and it manages to be just as fast-paced and action packed as the first. The characters are revealing more about themselves and yet there are still so many secrets to be revealed. Tower City is a wild place that I’m very glad I get to visit as a reader, rather than one of the unlucky souls who call the place home.
I read The Firebringer in less than a week, and Voodoo Games in less than two days. I’m worried about how quickly I will consume the next three books in the series once I get my hands on them, and I am incredibly intrigued to see how things turn out for the Tower City crew!
If you’re looking for an unputdownable, urban fantasy extravaganza, then look no further than The Tower City Chronicles! A truly wild ride.
I've got to admit, I picked up this series because I like to support local creators. The genre isn't what I would usually read. But this series is fantastically written and keeps you wanting more. Go buy the books!
