Despite his reputation as a lecherous man-chaser, Yashiro, young leader of the Shinseikai, was determined to avoid relationships with his subordinates. However, after an attempt on his life, his relationship with his attendant and bodyguard, Doumeki, has grown into something he never could have imagined. Meanwhile, Doumeki, awakening to his own feelings, has resolved himself to protect Yashiro, even if it puts his own life in peril. One being protected, and one protecting... The feelings Doumeki and Yashiro have for each other are surprising, to say the least. It was at this point that Yashiro realizes...
Yoneda Kou (ヨネダコウ) made her manga debut in 2009 with Doushitemo Furetakunai (No Touching at All), which became an instant critical and commercial success. She followed up with Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai (Twittering Birds Never Fly) and has also published doujinshi (independent comics) under the circle names "Raw" and "NITRO Koutetsu". A Capricorn with an A blood type, she likes sushi, inexpensive chocolate, and foreign drama series.
I'm glad to see there is a breakthrough between the main couple! (e.g. Blood licking and kiss! Damn! The sexual tension has been building for long enough!) Although the entire love confession scene is totally messed up, and a lot of things are still totally messed up, but who cares!
I certainly have a difficulty expressing how i feel about a story I adore.
I have followed the series from the beginning and I 've walked a long way with the characters and their emotions. A lot has been said about Saezuru, so I will only add- it is so raw and painfully honest, that it makes me think of it when it's 4 am and I am smoking on my small balcony, staring at the outlines of the city.
from the moment yashiro got shot everything got so messy with the scheming and figuring out who did it and why, but I love how everyone seems to be involved in everything and has something to hide and pin on others just to save their own asses - it’s such a manipulative and dangerous environment that I’m swallowing page after page and still craving for more 🙌🙌
and I’m officially stanning nanahara ❤️🙏
but I really have to wonder what hirata is thinking… he has a good position in his current organization, but in gouda he’d be treated like a newcomer at best, a coward and betrayer at worst, so what’s the point of forsaking everything he worked for to start all over again? what’s the point of making so many enemies? wouldn’t it be better to cook up a plan to take over doushinkai? I don’t understand his logic
also fuck but ryuuzaki is so painfully in love with yashiro and all this mess must be hurting so badly… WHY CANT ANYONE BE HAPPY HERE (jk I love this angsty mess omg 👌👌)
there isn’t much surprise in me giving this volume 5 ⭐️ again

So many other reviewers don’t seem to like the yakuza plot, but I love it!! It really makes their world more real and I’m interested to see how it’s all going to play out. I also feel like that plot aspect impacts the main characters’s relationship so it never really feels like too much to me.
This volume is so good!!! I’m so glad Nanahara is safe, lmao I didn’t realize how much I cared fine him until he got taken.
I still love the relationship development between Yoshiro and Doumeki. It’s so tender and intense, it makes for such a gripping read. I want them to be together so badly, but I know that it will take a while until the ~happily ever after~ (hopefully this series has one for them, it would suck if it didn’t) but I also LOVE THE SLOW BURN. It’s amazing.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that extra of them meeting before the first volume AHHHHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSS I love that trope 🥰 and Doumeki’s little BLUSH???? 🥰🥰🥰

I actually just discovered this through browsing the list of new BL anime. It was really interesting! This kind of reminds me of Banana Fish. I was pissed off about Yoshiro for leaving Doumeki but I guess he has his reason—I mean, the first time they did it, the gentleness was so alien to him that it confused/hurt him (I don’t want to judge him for that!)
It hurt me to read about his past! Also every time he was treated so cruelly by those people even though he “like” it and he’s a “masochist”... I just can’t. And there’s Doumeki wanting to cherish and take good care of him! Anyway, as I was saying, he has his reason. Some things are so complicated, or too hard to fathom, so I hope Yoshiro can get an epiphany and take his wall down for Doumeki.
This is still on going, by the way!

This story has really grown on me. I'm actually upset about Hirata's betrayal and worried about what's going to happen to Ryuuzaki. I was relieved that Nanahara wasn't killed and now I'm concerned about Yashiro's future within the organization. I would NEVER have thought that possible when I started. In fact, all of that actually turned me off. Now look at me!
Yashiro and Doumeki are FINALLY acknowledging their feelings for one another and things seem to be escalating pretty fast. Yashiro keeps tempting Doumeki and Doumeki doesn't have the willpower to resist. He's so fuckin hot with his quietly suffering stoic self! Jesus! when he walked out that shower! 😆
The story ends, as usual, at a cliffhanger and thank God volume 5 is available because I'd go crazy wondering what happens next.
I’m trying to stop myself from skimming through all the succession/betrayal/Yakuza stuff. Like it’s interesting and all, but I just want to get to all the Doumeki x Yashiro content and boy, was I fed!!! I could look up volume 5 and read the next chapters, but I’m going to be a masochist and wait for the physical copy to come out, but ahhhh I need it so bad. I love them so much. DOUMEKIIII in this volume, holy shit. What a tall, handsome, emotionless man. I also really like Nanahara! I’m glad he’s okay lol. As soon as I was thinking that I liked him, dude got whacked over the head.
Doumeki has a problem: he’s in love with his boss, Yashiro. His boss who happens to also be in the Yakuza and in the middle of a power war with another member. All manner of backstabbings, shootings, murder, stealing and other crimes are happening around them and all Doumeki can think of is protecting this man who he’s, unfortunately, fallen in love with. To make matters worse if Yashiro were to ever find out about these feelings then he’d dismiss him immediately, because love is the last thing he wants.

𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱- I reread this because I forgot the timeline and I wanted to continue the story. I'm glad that I did because now I know where I stand with my emotions. Yashiro, Doumeki, Ryuzaki, Nanahara, all these characters all slowly growing into me.
