Modern Magic #6

Chaotic Magic

Rate this book
Defy fate, embrace the chaos, and avoid the angry death goblins.

Samantha Bailey hates her visions, until she sees the death of the man who both infuriates and enflames her. Unfortunately, he despises oracles, so she doesn’t dare tell him she is one. Can she maintain her distance while keeping him close to protect him? Or does fate have other plans?

Luc Marsyas enjoys luxury, power, and Samantha. Often not in that order. Beneath the beautiful mage's icy veneer lurks a fiery passion that he’s obsessed with setting free. But he's not the only one obsessed. Someone wants her dead, and Luc begins to wonder how far he'll go to protect her.

When an attack forces them to flee to a distant realm, Luc and Samantha must stop fighting each other long enough to find a way home. Preferably one that doesn't involve goblin assassins or death magic. The fight for survival brings them together, but will their unlikely bond survive when he finds out what she's hidden?

"Chaotic Magic” is already the sixth book in Nicole Hall’s paranormal romance “Modern Magic” series, that features loosely connected characters in a supernatural world populated by a vast multitude of supernaturals, from relatively innocuous fairies, to dangerous Dark Fae, with shifters, werewolves, zombie bunnies, magic llamas and goblin assassins in between.

Samantha Bailey possesses an unwelcome gift; her visions allow her to predict death. Usually Samantha despise her vision, but the latest one involves Luc Marsyas, the luxury lover power Mage, who don’t believe in oracles whatsoever. Samantha makes it her job to protect him, without revealing the truth. “Chaotic Magic” is a fast-paced romantic adventure with humor in spades and the right dose of mystery to keep the plot going. It’s a light lecture, joyful, interesting and with entertaining and credible characters.

Janet’s true identity is finally revealed – so cool! I like how the mystery of the lost group that had supposedly gone to the dryad realm was resolved. And Tamra finally got dealt with.

Samantha and Luc make a great, explosive couple. I enjoyed reading their adventure – the squirrels were awesome! I liked the tour of the magical realm and the special animals there.

I enjoyed the way different aspects from previous stories came together to create a satisfying end to the series.

Samantha is super powerful and Luc is quite interesting. Their snark-filled courtship, sudden trust when thrown into danger, and selflessness was endearing.

A great read with all the feels.

Another interesting take on the creatures in the paranormal. We have already met the 2 characters in previous books but (as with all this series) this concentrates on these 2. Samantha's story is good and well-developed thus explaining facets we have come across before. Luc is a more complicated creature & seems to like making himself out as a bad boy. The story was entertaining, plenty of laughter points, scary moments and sweet moments. The sex was too graphic for me, which is the only reason it's a 4 instead of 5.

Luc and Samantha are fire and ice. Both hold things back from each other. Their secrets can make them or break them. He doesn't trust oracles and he has unknowingly fallen in love with one. He is a demon and she is human. Will this match workout? This is a fast paced and action packed read. Not a slow moment in this book. Keeps you wanting to keep reading until you are done..

I loved this book so much! Samantha and Luc are entertaining and fiery characters all on their own, but when you bring them together, it's hot, in a good way! Nicole is great at introducing us to these characters in her other books and then giving them their own story which makes us love them that much more. The storyline is great, I was hooked all the way to the end. She gives amazing chemistry to these couples that you just want to continue their stories.

Loved the series

What can I say, but LOVE. The characters were amazing, the adventure, thrilling, and the love, potent. I was surprised at how all the characters tied together in the end, with all the differences. Nicole Hall has a vivid imagination and the ability to weave her stories so that each is completely different, but still within the romance formula. Love them!!!!

chaotic fire and ice

Yet again Nicole writes a book that I read in two sittings. I just kept turning the pages wanting to know what would happen next.

The sassy women and the men who can’t wait to love them is completed in this sixth book. The story arc takes you on a journey that is easy to read and daydreaming about finding your own sexy man who loves and protects

I liked this storyline, but think I would have enjoyed it more had I read the books in order. The characters are defined, the pace is good, the story is interesting. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Another interesting story from Nicole in her continuing series on Modern Magic. Yes she is sassy, and I think that goes for author and her main character Samantha 🤦‍♀️. So much to enjoy about each new character as she brings them to life before your eyes...

Not Ready For It To End

I wasn’t ready for this series to end. I wanted to hear more about the coming adventures. Luc and Samantha were not my favorite characters at the beginning of the book but I really came to like them.

DNF at one percent. It may not be instalust but this starts off with her thinking all sorts of sexy thoughts about some random dude I've never met. Not into it right now.
