What has gone from a long simmering conflict has exploded into all-out war. Seven of Nine has chosen her side, but even with her help, victory is not assured, and what will it mean for her place in the crew of Voyager when the dust finally settles? An all-new adventure set during Voyager’s amazing fourth season from writer Dave Baker (Action Hospital, F*ck Off Squad, Star Trek: Waypoint) and artist Angel Hernandez (Star Trek: Picard Countdown, Star Trek/Green Lantern).
Finally, we get to the meat of the story. This is drawn well, but it just feels like a whole lot of exposition and little pay-off. Plus, at the beginning, there is a glaring mistake- the Doc never called his beloved sickbay "medbay". My final judgement on this series now depends on the last episode...
The tensions between the highborn Kz'ar and lowly Vesh move from simmering to boiling point as we enter the 3rd chapter and Sevens' state of mind is far from at ease. She has a choice to make and the consequences could be catastrophic if she chooses wrong - for both ships and their crews. Will she disobey the principles of her own Starfleet crew and support her new Vesh friends? And what will be the aftermath of her choices?
An excellent follow-on that ratchets up the tension of the story while keeping a solid focus on the personal journey of Seven of Nine.
The copy I was given has a picture of Chakotay on the cover, however, he doesn’t appear in this issue at all. Connecting that to the storyline, how come the chief engineer isn’t seen more in this story? Shouldn’t there be other crew members going over to help fix the warp drive?
