Seven of Nine’s commitment to the Prime Directive will be put to the test as she finds herself being pulled deeper and deeper into an ancient conflict between two classes of the same alien species. As tensions continue to rise, it seems like old grudges may spiral into an all-out rebellion...
Well, the art continues to be quite good. It is also made clear again that this happens quite early in season 4 (maybe shortly after Raven?) because Seven is still finding her feet and the crew still does not exactly trust her. I had to laugh twice while reading this- the first time when she expertly ditches poor Harry and second when she manages to insult her later best friend, the EMH (whose reaction is absolutely perfect). So yeah, she has not bonded with any of them yet.
Otherwise... well, this progresses in a pretty predictable way so far. I am still not sure if this will be just the typical Star Trek story, or if they are going to pull an interesting twist in the end. Depending on that, I might change my rating when we have seen the whole story. At least it is not one of these bleak Star Trek takes that have become so common these days.
Nice sequel to the original.first story. I definitely give it five *****'s for everything - storyline, art work, original characters, etc. Can't wait for issue three! 😀
As we enter chapter two, we get to focus squarely on the time that 7-of-9 is spending with her new work crew. Seven has always been a fan-favourite character and that is in no small part to her complicated character as a drone seperated from the Borg collective and trying to re-integrate into life as an individual.
Now she is seperated from the Voyager crew and is spending time with the lower-caste of the Ohrdi'nadar species who do the grunt work to keep the ship alive and functioning and she is appalled at the social differences between the classes. Forced to question things including her own world view as a former Borg, Seven is approaching a crossroads in her thinking and in the situation in which she finds herself.
Stellar art continues and is a big part of my enjoyment of this series.
