Prefaced to be of Chinese origin… The five coloured stones are the 5 colours of the rainbow: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, and Blue. Indigo and Violet are latter inventions. The tortoise's legs make up the rainbow's "legs". The great cataclysm may have been the Younger Dryas extinction event.
