From the creators of Red Truck , Yellow Copter , and Blue Boat comes a delightful new story about a helpful tractor getting ready for Harvest Day just in time for fall!
It's Harvest Day at the farm, but before the kids arrive Green Tractor has to help their farmer friend get everything ready. They have to move big boulders using the hayfork and plow the land for the pumpkin races. And when the kids get there, it's time for Green Tractor to shine by pulling the wagon for the hayride!
Kersten Hamilton and Valeria Patrone are back to add a new color and friendly helper vehicle to their beloved book series.
I read the English/Spanish version and it was actually very educational. Was surprised by the amount of Spanish I actually knew and learned a few new words along the way. It was also a quick read, full of catchy rhymes, and wholesome fun. 10/10 would recommend 👍🏼 love a good tractor story
My kid is obsessed with this book! And why wouldn't she be? The pages are filled with colorful illustrations of a tractor at work on a farm, the text rhymes pleasantly, and dogs and ducks appear on many of the pages.
This tractor is clearly a John Deere, even if it’s never called such. And this is about as boring of a story as you can write about a John Deere tractor.
Moral: Tractors make a hard day a little bit easier.
Length: Very brief, but it’s still hard on your soul. .
Favorite Line: “Go Green Tractor, GO!”
Overall Impression: I really wanted to like this one because it seemed like the simple pictures of a family farmer would be timeless. But this is just another one of those books that picks a vehicle and tells what it does. These book don’t live to tell a story of the American farmer or the construction worker… they just want to impress us with mechanization. And by that standard, this little green John Deere tractor is not impressive at all.
This book tells the story of a green tractor that works around the farm to prepare for children to come and visit on a field trip. Some of these activities include lifting hay bales, moving pumpkins, and pulling kids along on a hayride. This book could be confusing for some children because it is a bilingual book. This means that one page has the words in English, and the other page has the words in Spanish.
My 2½ yo granddaughter loves this book. She loves tractors, trucks and construction vehicles and this is a rare book in that it has a female protagonist. She loves to read the pictures on each page with the sing-song refrain: Go, Green Tractor, Go! She'll tell you she wants to have a pumpkin race and go on a hay ride. I've never heard of racing pumpkins on wheels before.
This book is definitely intended to be used for learning Spanish. Since I'm not at present teaching my 23 month old another language, I'm only reading the English side, which is rather boring. My son, being 100% boy, loves the pictures of the tractor. I think the artwork looks a bit amateur, but the green tractor is vibrant and pops.
My almost 2 year old loves, loves, loves this book. He loves books with vehicles of any kind, but this one is clearly his favorite. I'm guessing because of the bright, simple illustrations and rhyming sentences with a little bit of repetition thrown in. Oh, and the farm animals don't hurt.
He wanted to read it right away and we read it three or four times tonight. He especially liked the farm animals and the duck on the slide. He would walk around the living room while I read but then come back to point at the ducks.
story: 4/5. a green tractor helps around a farm illustrations: 4/5. detailed without being overly involved rhymes: 4/5. pretty good but does try to rhyme "warm" and "farm" fun to read: 4/5. nothing extra special but nice flow
My 15 month-old son loves this book! We received from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. It is the first book that when it arrived he wanted to read it right away! It’s only day 2 and he has handed it to me read at least 10x.
My daughter loves this book and we read it a lot. I blame the constant repetition for why I am starting to find the book so irritating. The illustrations are cute and the story is easy to follow, but some of the punctuation choices drive me crazy and the rhyme falls apart on the last page.
This was a cute Imagination Library book! My kids enjoyed it. The sentences were simple, and the plot wasn’t as interesting to me. It would be a cute read closer to Fall.
My son loves this book. Every night in his routine it’s “geeen tactur”. So much so I have it memorized. Cute little book with simple yet cute illustrations.
A smiley-faced tractor has a lot to do to prepare the pumpkin farm for the Harvest Day celebration. At the book's conclusion, the kids go on a hayride, courtesy of the tractor.
I had never heard of a pumpkin race until today. Is this a thing? I'm intrigued. From the illustration, it looks like it could be (briefly) entertaining.
