Meet the Brady family. They're brilliant, brooding and barreling into relationships whether they like it or not.

Irresponsible. Impulsive. Reckless. Cal Brady has heard it all from his family and he's getting a little sick of it. He's a smart guy, after all. In a family of brainy engineers, someone has to be the fun one, but the other Bradys don't see it that way. To get a break from his family, Cal decides to move out and answers an online ad for a roommate.

Logan Miller's ship has come in. For the first time in her life, she isn't scraping by. She's got a fancy degree and a real career...with coworkers who don't like her very much. But it's fine. She's had mean colleagues before. Eye on the prize. Now that she's getting a roommate, she'll even have a nice financial cushion. What could go wrong?

For starters, her roommate turns out to be a dude. But this is fine. They can be friends who live together. They just need to ignore the simmering lust that vibrates between them.

Somewhere between Cal's drive to prove himself and Logan's need to chill out, the roommates tempt fate and get freaky. Will Logan wind up being yet another one of Cal's mistakes or can this pair engineer a life together?

Vibration is book four of the Brady Family series. If you love messy family dynamics, unforgettable characters, and sizzling chemistry, you'll devour this new series by Lainey Davis.

Note: I purchased the audio during Davis’s Kickstarter last month. As of 5/1/2023 it’s currently available via KoboPlus.

This is book 4 in the Brady Family series by Lainey Davis. While you can enjoy this on its own, I think it’s best enjoyed after the previous books.

I have to admit, I was a little worried that Davis wouldn’t be able to redeem the affable but rudderless and seemingly self-centered Cal. I shouldn’t have been though. Between realizing he was often misunderstood and the way he matures over the rest of the book - I ended up loving him. I like how he and Logan were opposites who smoothed out each other’s prickly edges.

The accidental roommate setup was a lot of fun and these two navigating a tricky situation made for tons of laughs.

I’m ready for Orla’s book, Current.

Narration:
Carly Robbins & Tom Taylorson continue to be a blast to listen to - it's so much fun as they bring Davis’s characters to life. Logan and Cal are such distinct characters and they both did a terrific job.

Over 50% of the book focuses on the careers of the two protagonists

Cal has just turned 31, and at the beginning of this novel, he acts like an irresponsible teenager. Logan's age is never directly mentioned, but given that she has a master's degree and has worked a few years, I assumed she is in her late 20s. Neither of these two has ever been in a committed relationship. Cal has been the king of one-night stands, and Logan has been an alienated loner.

Cal is a mechanical engineer who works for a successful family-owned business that was started by his father and his paternal uncle 30 years ago. Both of Cal's brothers and his female cousin work for the family company as well, and all six of them are engineers.

Logan is a savvy financial planner who works for a company with an extremely toxic work environment. Her direct supervisor is a woman who is constantly sneering at her and sabotaging her, and the rest of her coworkers are misogynistic males who envy her prowess as a financial planner and sneer at her as much or more than her supervisor.

The two of them first connect when Logan decides she needs to augment her income from her job. She sends half of her pay every month to her hard-working, single mother, and that act of generosity is making her finances extremely tight. She decides to take in a roommate in the two-bedroom condominium that she owns. Because both she and Cal (irrationally) agree to be roommates, sight unseen, Cal mistakenly assumes Logan is a man, because of her masculine name, and Logan wrongly believes Cal is a woman named Callie, until the day that Cal moves in.

This story is set in Pittsburgh. I have never been there, and I did not get any sense of that city whatsoever from reading this novel. It could have been set in any city in the country, because every scene was inside a building, other than a couple of times Cal went running around the city for exercise, during which no particular descriptions were offered of the environment around him. More than 50% of this novel is dedicated to endless scenes involving Cal's job and Logan's job which, frankly, became rather tedious for me personally. In terms of the romance, it contains the typical features of a romance-novel roommate situation, in that it inevitably morphs into a "fling to forever" situation. However, on the plus side, Cal and Logan develop the kind of buddy relationship that only a metrosexual, cinnamon-roll hero can manage, and that made him much more sympathetic than he appeared at the beginning of the novel, during which he was portrayed as a petulant, drunken fool.

This is a slow-burn romance in that its sex scenes do not begin until about the halfway mark of the novel. Because they are much more graphic than is my personal taste, I skipped over most of them.

On top of my not being particularly interested in hearing over and over again about Logan and Cal's jobs, unfortunately, the conflict they faced in their work situations, rather than being overcome entirely by their own stalwart efforts, were, for the most part, conveniently whisked away by the deus ex machina of other people greatly assisting them in gathering the emotional fortitude to achieve far better professional circumstances for themselves.

This is a great read about Logan, a young woman who has grown up on struggle street who now finds herself on the good side of life but she’s unsure how to handle it. In desperate need of a roommate she makes an online listing. Cal, on the other hand has grown up with the best of things, but finds himself always in hot water and on the receiving end of disappointment from his family. After a dismal birthday he decides to move out of an apartment his shares with his brother to make it on his own, so to speak, he’s desperate for an apartment - cue Logan’s advert.
Sight unseen, never meeting in person and a misunderstanding of names they end up in a lease agreement together before finding out they’re opposite sexes.
Things work, they click as friends, but then Logan’s work issues cause her to name her roommate as her boyfriend and the “fake” is on.
These two have chemistry but Logan is so inexperienced with relationships & emotions that she doesn’t know how to handle it and Cal is so used to ballsing everything by being impulsive and the endless disappointment to his family that he thinks he’s ruining his & Logan’s relationship at each turn.
They both need help and luckily there is a whole support system just waiting to give these two what’s needed.
Feelings, family and friends all make this a great read with plenty of female role models and motivation.

Logan Miller is a financial analyst who needs a roommate so she can continue to help her mom financially. She was raised by a single mom who told her men weren’t worth the trouble. Callum “Cal” Brady, a mechanical engineer with his dad’s firm, answers her ad for a roommate. He feels like the black sheep of his family, but his family is very supportive. Logan accepts Cal as a roommate sight unseen. He thinks he’s getting a male friend who’s not family, and she thinks she’s getting a female roommate. They are complete opposites. She’s quiet and reserved. He’s outgoing and a bit of a slob. They learn to navigate each other. I love how Logan comes out of her shell. Cal starts to see why his brothers date the same women instead of playing the field. They were raised differently, which I think influenced their behaviours later in life. They see their burgeoning relationship differently. You have to read through to see if they end up together. I highly recommend this book.

A little too unrefined

There is a good basic story here, with all the angst, sex, and hope filled moments you could want. Unfortunately, the work scenarios are too simplistic and some of the other scenarios are too unrealistic. It almost seems like this author hasn't had the opportunity to experience real life yet. The story suffers for it.

Logan isn't necessarily a male and check the spelling on Cal e

I have been reading this series out of order but it really doesn't matter. All the members of the Brady are involved in each story along with extended family. They are a great family for family dinners but not very good at communication. Logan and Cal's story is my favorite. The was they get together is hilarious. They fit together and make each other feel like home. The Bradys are loyal and loving in their own way. They may bicker among themselves but be wary of what happens if an outsider tries to harm one of their.

Logan and Cal are each doing jobs they would love if they received the respect they deserve. I love how their friendship makes each of them stronger. The girls of Foof are a riot. Everyone should a group of friends like them. They are super supportive but don't badger her the way some friends do.

I enjoyed this book and am enjoying the series. I will try to find all of them. I may even start another series by Lainey Davis. Thanks Ms Davis for a most entertaining family and their adventures finding their special someone.

Cal Brady is irritated with his family’s perception of him and decides to move out on his own. He answers an online ad for a roommate. Despite an incorrect assumption, Logan and Cal agree to be roommates, sight unseen. So it’s a bit of a shock finding out they were not both females as Logan Miller had expected. Regardless, although opposite personalities, they get along well.

But as their relationship together evolves and grows, they each find ways to not mold themselves into what others perceive them to be and instead to confidently be themselves. Each has a positive influence on the other and may be just what the other needs in their life. Could this unlikely pair be headed for a HEA?

Found this book as part of stuff your kindle day and surprisingly enjoyed it. While I enjoyed the romance, family dynamic brought in through Cal's family, and the story in general - I surprisingly really enjoyed the career growth of each character. They're both talented and smart people but not reaching their full potentials and they really help each other progress in the workplace which brings them joy outside of work too! There was a lot of detail put into explaining what Cal and Logan each did at work and you could tell the author put a lot of research into it, which made it even better.

The premise is fun and a little out there - I don't think I'd ever just send over a lease agreement to someone I never met or at least video chatted with before, but it did make this a fun read :) A surprisingly enjoyable find! I think anyone who likes rom-coms would enjoy this.

Honestly I wanna give this like a 3.75. It’s a pretty good book and what I liked about it was how the relationship between the mmc and his father was a lot of tough love and how sensitive the mmc would be bc he felt like his family didn’t think well of him. it’s a pretty cliche storyline where the fmc needs a roommate and has a guy name so the mmc becomes said roommate and they eventually start liking each other, then being fwb, and then getting together. the beginning of the book is what I didn’t really love.. it’s why it’s not exactly 4 stars but I did really like the character relationships between mmc and his dad at the end.

A Great Read

"Vibration" is a title that sends your thoughts straight in to the dark side of dirty reading, while the story itself is actually a swoon-worthy romance. A introvert and a extrovert become roommates by accident and end up falling in lust in absolute Rom-Com fashion. With an amazing support system, they navigate rocky roads at work, overcome their individual insecurities and fall in love along the way. It's a great read with fantastic characters in a well written and entertaining package that you'll enjoy reading.

For fans of Drama, Romance, Romantic Comedies, Meet Cute Romance, Opposites Attract and Roommates Romance stories.

Logan and Cal find themselves roommates after mistaking the other person to be a guy. However, despite being opposites-Logan as the timid, type A person and Cal being the careful, messy person, they enjoy each other's company and develop a friendship. We get to read from both Logan and Cal's perspective and I did really enjoy immersing myself into their characters. I liked the funny bits, the romantic bits, and even all the bits on the chemistry they have going on. I would read more from this world and this author. 4.5 stars

How others perceive them.

That seems to be the theme of Vibration. Cal’s family sees him as the irresponsible, joker. Logan has her own issues with self esteem and coworkers.
In ways, they are very similar and share similar traits, although their motivations are different, their on similar vibes. Living together obviously creates some interesting vibes as well.

Recommend.

Great simple series for romance lovers.

How does accidental roommates almost always end up with them pretending to be together before they are? Magic.

I did enjoy the irony of Cal always telling Logan to just spit out the things that bother her but he has been stuck in the same position for years with his family-run job simply because he never said that he wanted to do anything else. And yes, I do think he should've taken that other job but that's neither here nor there.

The author had a message, and her message about how women in the workplace are (mis)treated overshadowed her romance story, kind of an opposite attract. For a long time, I didn't care for the male lead; he really acted irresponsible. Sex scenes, once they started, were too much, too often, for my taste, so I skipped over them. But it held my interest. I really want to give it a 3.5, but I gave it a 4.

Two misfits who end up living together thinking they are of the opposite sex. Coincidence in themselves is what they both need along with a job that makes them happy. Can they help each other get what they want and become what they want to be? Loved these two together. They make the perfect pair even if they can't we it right away

I loved this one. Cal is the best and I was glad to read he got everything resolved with everyone. Really glad to see how Logan figured it all out.

I strongly recommend reading the series in order to get the most from this story.
Additionally, this series should be read AFTER the Stag Brothers series to understand more.

Totally worth the time!!!

Vibration: An Accidental Roommates Romance is a quirky love story. A series of misunderstandings and several assumptions could make or break the burgeoning house sharing relationship of Cal and Logan. These two people independently need something more in their lives, it just might be each other...and the people associated with them.
A fun and enjoyable read

I liked this book even though I found it hard that a grown man was so clueless about living on his own, life, and relationships. I did appreicate that Cal's character did grow quite a bit in this book and that Logan learned to no only let go but to have fun. It was a cute book, I didn't read the three before it, but will probably go back at some point and do that.

This was another foray of mine into the world of contemporary romance. I find myself gravitating to stories of large, raucous families and this did not disappoint. There were a few inconsistencies, but they are easily overlooked as the story potters along nicely. I especially liked the FMC Logan, who manages to be hardworking and have a tragic backstory without being a pushover.

Callum and Logan

It's seriously hilarious that Logan thinks Cal is a girl and Cal thinks Logan is a guy when they first agree, online, to become roommates!! I love that part of their meet-cute. It's sweet how quickly and easily they connect and bond. Family. And Found family. Foof!!!

DNF - couldn’t do it the writing was sadly really bland for me. It just fell flat and I didn’t want to keep pushing through if I wasn’t fully enjoying myself. It does have potential though. I always enjoy the fake dating/roommates tropes but this one I feel the writing didn’t help see and feel as much as I wanted.

Delightful girl power and romance

Such a happy surprise with this book!

The women empowerment and career development of the characters in this book caught me so delightfully off guard. I laughed way more than I thought I would and would definitely re read in a heartbeat.

Now searching for my own FOOF girl gang.
