They thought I was dangerous before, but now that I have a female to defend... I'm ruthless.
Daisy
I'm a glass half-full girl, but this last week has really tested my outlook on life. First of all, aliens exist. Yeah, there's a doozy. Second of all, they steal humans from Earth, and they're not nice about it. Like at all. Anger issues abound in other galaxies apparently.
My situation worsens when I learn I'm the prize in some really effed-up alien gladiator games. I'm just going to admit it now — my glass is empty, and this doesn't look good for me...
Rexor
Once I was a proud Drixonian Warrior. Now I'm an experiment gone bad and a former gladiator who can't control his bloodlust.
When I see a human female with sunshine hair in danger, I can't let her fall into the clutches of monsters who will break her. I steal her with the intention of rescuing her, not keeping her for myself. She's beauty and happiness. I'm a hideous shadow of what I once was and losing my mind with every planet's rotation. All I know is that while we're on the run from our enemies, I'll do anything to protect her. Even if I have to break myself to do it.
Rexor is a SciFi Alien Warrior Romance with lots of action, a heroine who's really trying to look on the bright side, and a tortured hero with a few... enhancements.
I really enjoyed this official first book in the Spin Off, to my fave Drixonian Warriors Series.
I was so eager to learn what happened to Rexor, in the original series when he was mentioned and reading his story now, answered a lot of questions for me.
It was intense. Engaging with a lot of heart. I love how even though Rexor and his team has had horrible injustices done to them and they are living with those outcomes inside and out; they still remained who they are to their cores.
So glad the way this one turned out and I love Rexor and Daisy together...
I can't wait for Mikko's story next.
I would STRONGLY advise that you read the Drixonian Warriors series first, before tackling this Spin off though. You will run into spoilers if you read these series' out of order..
I know this is smut but there's lots of cheesy scenarios. Possible spoilers ahead
"oh gosh I just have to do yoga even though we're trying to have a conversation and I happen to be in compromising poses"
"oh gosh, you just had a nightmare let me sooth you even though we're both almost naked "
"oh gosh we're trapped in a closet together and for some reason I need to straddle your lap"
Dude hulks out from time to time, which is part of the appeal, but then they remove that trait from him later, wth???
The mating thing came out of nowhere and the ending made me do a double-take on what book# I'm on. It felt like a book 7 ending rather than a first in the series. If they didn't go to the planet with characters from some other series, it would have been better. Maybe later on in the series have everyone do a rendezvous, but this was a lot to cram into the ending
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚💜💙❤️ Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: 😒😀🙂🥰😋 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Daisy - she fell asleep in her bed in South Carolina one night and woke up in a spaceship. She was dressed in something sexy and brought to an arena where she was to be the prize that went to the winner. She wasn’t liking her odds with each gladiator being more monstrous than the one before.
The Hero:Rexor - he is a monster. Though he used to be a Drixonian Warrior. After being captured and experimented on by the enemy, he was sold as a slave and forced to fight in the gladiator arena. He knew his owner was planning on getting rid of him after the next fight, and he wasn’t sad about it. His bloodlust during the fights was legendary, and he wanted to die as a free male if he was going to die at all, so he decided to fight against his fate.
The Story: Rexor fights in his last fight, and wins. He goes on a rampage, killing guards and his owner Polixic, whom he hated with a passion. The crowd had been chanting for a monster, and he gave them what they wanted. Though by the time his rage started to cool, they were gone. He was able to get the key from his dead owner and free his collar. After his escape, he and some others were determined to get revenge against the entire race of the male that owned him, the Plykans. His next target was the brother of that man. He was attacking the fighting arena.
After rescuing Daisy, Rex had no idea what he had done till he got home. He knew it was a screw up since she was a human. His friends were afraid the Plykans would come after her and endanger them all. Though Rex was determined to keep her. When she had cried out in the arena, his rage grew out of control, and he had no choice but to save her. Rex and his friends live in a crashed spaceship which isn’t very nice and are always under threat from the Plykans, so they decide that Daisy will be safest if Rex takes her to his home where the rest of the Drixonian warriors can protect her.
I liked the story and the characters. The world building was pretty good as well. I enjoyed the fact that though Rex was such a strong male, and could defeat just about any enemy, he was also broken. He hated what he had been turned into, a monster. He has low self esteem and thinks that he could never have a mate like Daisy. He also suffers from PTSD and has nightmares about his time in captivity. He is a character you can empathize with and Daisy is perfect for him. She wants to help him and doesn’t see him as less. Just as her savior.
This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in dual narration by Oliver Highpoint and Rachel Woods. Oliver Highpoint has a clear, pleasant voice. Though he isn’t one of my favorite male narrators, he is darn close. Rachel Woods also has an enjoyable voice that I like quite a bit. She is expressive and speaks with a southern accent in this one. She does a good job, though I am not too fond of a strong southern accent. I guess I am biased since I’m from the north.
Sweet start to the spin-off series of Drixonian warriors who’ve suffered some “modifications” by their long-standing nemesis, the Uldani. This manages to expand the ‘verse even more while introducing us to the next four heroes. The romance itself was sweet and yet followed the same path of the earlier books. The climax was a bit of a stretch as well as the reason to not reach out (how will they know to go to Corin, not Torin?), but it’s still enjoyed myself. If you’re a fan of the original series, I think you may enjoy this.
I liked it, and it was nice to see some closure re: Rex. But I have to say it's odd to me that his group of friends stay behind. It feels contrived, so they all get their books meeting a human. I mean, these guys are bonded, brothers (they say) because of what they've been through. Now one of them has this important mission - get the human female off planet to safety - and the rest of them are like "okay, good luck" and leave Rex to it? Weird. And not, really, the fierce bond of loyalty I'd expect from the Drix given the previous series.
But that was a teeny quibble. The book is 3 stars instead of 4 because Daisy is a damsel princess, which just isn't my favorite kind of FMC to read about - just screaming and crying and in need of protection, totally useless. Meh. I get that she's a good pair with Rex and his horrible Rage, but it didn't make her less bland.
Rexor was an emotional read for me. I love the tortured hero books, and poor, poor Rexor just needed some cuddles. Daisy was the best thing to happen to him. I know Mikko is next, but I REALLY need Zecri’s story!
So.. If u haven’t guess I don’t really look at authors or plot summaries before reading a book. It just has to have either a virgin hero or be a fem/dom book. I don’t like knowing anything else ahead of time. So imagine my surprise when I started reading this book and I was like… “Hey! This sounds familiar!” Page five, “ My cora pounded.” “I thanked Fatas they would never see me like I was now.”
Cora? Fatas? I know these alien words! And then, the final clue… “I was still a Drixonian”
Hey! This is the 3rd series I have read with these Drixionians!
So.. again, I like the story. This is a rag tag group of Drixionians trapped on a foreign planet. These guys are also victims of the Uldani experiments. They are mentioned in the last series I read… Outcasts of Corin. In those books the females are escaped experiment victims and these Stolen Warriors are mentioned. And now, here we are, reading the stories of the Stolen Warriors.
But the sex bums me out because even though this guy, Rexor, left his home planet as a young child, he still got his junk pierced and was trained in the ways of sexually pleasing females. And as you know, I like my virgins untrained. Why make the character a virgin if he is also going to be a masterful lover?
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 3/5 Innocence in losing it: 1/5 Build up to losing it: 4/5 Hotness of losing it: 3/5 Busted touching himself: no POV of losing it: female
OK, take a deep breath, they all cannot be Ruby Dixon
But close enough. And I realised, this is not the beginning but like the sister series of original Drixonian Warrior, so I found another one to go through before I come back to this one.
It is quite a clique plotline - stolen h, tortured H, instant mates, self-doubt, and final redemption with happily ever after.
I had known Rex was angry about what was done to him. Anyone would be. I'd seen enough X-men movies to know Wolverine wasn't delighted about being injected with adamantium. What I hadn't considered was that Rex would be insecure and ashamed of his body.
By end of this book, I think I read about the entire series of Drixonian Warrior so that piqued my interest. we will see how that goes...
Daisy was stolen from Earth and is to be the prize to whatever gladiator wins a brutal, to the death fight. She’s always be a glass half full kind of girl but she’s starting to think the opposite. Drixonian Warrior, Rexor, was stolen years ago and now fights to stay alive. When he sees a human, his new mission is to save her and find her safety. But will the darkness in him get in the way?
This was so cute! Daisy is so sweet and positive, she’s very inspiring. Rex is a force to be reckoned with.. in more ways than just one. I loved his friends - I only wish we didn’t have to say goodbye to them. I hope they find their way home. LOVE where and with who Daisy and Rex ended up! Such a great ending. ❤️
This is the first book in the spin off series that started with the Drixonian Warriors series. It was intense! One drama/situation after another! As I knew it would be, it was also heartbreaking! I loved Daisy! She was perfect for Rex! I can't wait to continue this series. I did take off one star for some minor typos, missing words. It's a thing for me. I would definitely recommend this. At the time of this post it was available on KU
OMG this story is so tragically wonderful, deeply romantic, grandiose and adventurous - monstrously beautiful. Rexor and Daisy love their glass half full - perfect!
My initial thoughts when looking back on this book was that it was good but not great. It was good enough to keep me entertained but not good enough for me to continue on with the next book in the series. To be fair though, I did tear up near the end which is kinda weird because it wasn't even that emotional but I resonated with Rex's emotions. I loved Daisy's outlook on life even though it could be seen as naive and dangerous but there's just something about an optimistic character who tries to put her faith in people despite the times that people have let her down.
Rex’s story. After hearing about him from his brothers books in the other drix series I was excited to read this. It’s about the same. Human female, soul mates but idk these books always just reset me between all my Normal reads. I’ve enjoyed her writing.
Rex is modified. He’s got a split personality from having been experimented on and THE RAGE often takes over his better judgment but really it comes to play when he’s needing to protect his woman 🥰.
Not to deep. No angst or anything really. Just a good little alien romance lol
After reading this and Ice Planet Barbadians, I can state two observations: 1) I don’t like aliens, and 2) I couldn’t date anyone of the blue man group (not that I’d want to anyway due to the age gap, but good to have solid evidence). The mc is the epitome of a live, laugh, love sorority girl, and the love interest is just as dull even if he is thankfully somehow more intelligent. Plot is eh as well. Just not my thing.
