Alexis Parker #19

Warning Signs

Rate this book
Secrets prove deadly in Alexis Parker's latest case...

Alexis Parker is used to humdrum work assignments. Running background checks and tailing cheating spouses is common place for her and most of the private investigators at Cross Security. But she doesn't particularly enjoy digging up other people's dirt and shining a light on their nastier habits. However, it's a paycheck. And it makes her boss happy. So who can argue with that?

But when a client asks Cross Security to put his soon-to-be wife under surveillance, Alex knows there's more to the story than meets the eye. At first, the client's worries seem unfounded. He has no reason to believe his fiancée is a cheater or a liar, so why does he want her investigated? On the surface, they are the perfect couple with the perfect life who should have the perfect marriage. But nothing is ever perfect. And Alex is about to discover just how imperfect their lives really are...

What a series

Number 19 is as good as it gets. GK Parks has followed up the last 18 books with another winner. Alex is as messed up as always, maybe more so. But that does not stop her from following her intuition. Love her interaction with her boss, Lucien Cross and her cop friend, O’Connell. Hope in a future book she realizes how important James Martin is in her life. Can’t wait for book 20!

Chasing the unknown

GK Parks is a master at creating intelligent, suspenseful stories that keep you enthralled until the end...and you wish you weren't there yet! Great characters who have come alive for me and make me look forward to the next book, not just in this series but in all she is writing right now.

Cross hairs.

She breaks the rules, follows her own instincts and shares information with the police or Cross depending on what her gut tells her.
In this book, she has two cases on the go.
For Cross Securities, her client is a bridegroom, Andre North scared his fiance, Eve Wyndham is playing away.
O'Connell has a case of three dead men, each killed after sex, all poisoned. A wine bottle left at the scene, oh and five other people were present prior to the murders.
A club called Priapus, catering for the wealthy with special sexual tastes, seems to connect the crimes.
Then, whilst keeping tabs on Eve, Alex is spots the app for Priapus on her phone.
Are the two cases linked?
Is Andre being cheated on?
Priapus has a specific NDA, including masks being worn to protect the identities of the rich & famous players.
Alex is checks Eve's apartment, and finds four of the requisite masks in her draw, but no wedding dress or paraphernalia. Who is Eve?
A very good book, written to show the quirks and out of the box thinking by Alex is.

Alex’s trauma is interfering with her new cases. One is with the police chasing a serial killer who’s part of a sex club. The other is a high profile guy who’s worried his fiancée is cheating on him.

She hallucinates seeing blood as she looks for clues on both cases, and they also both lead to nowhere. Then, she stumbles upon the sex club app on the fiancée’s phone, and the pieces all come together.

I figured things would connect, but there’s a surprise at the end I didn’t see coming. It’s good to see Alex getting some counselling, but she resists when it could help her more. Always well written, with lots of action and mystery.

A fun suspense with Alex Parker

The book travels wth Alex through her career, changes in career and subsequently to her PTSD. The strength and grit this woman has is heroic. Working with the OIO, police or when she works in the private sector she always solves the case.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and plan to continue with it. The characters and plots are very well fleshed out and keep me guessing. The ONLY reason I don't give 5 stars is because of the foul language. Other than that, these books are fantastic!
