My God, where did the creativity of these women go ?! When it's a thing, it's another! This one?! Same as always (again). "I love her, but my soul is dark so I can kiss her but I'm going to fuck other women so she can hate me and make her soul as dark as mine!"🤮🤮🤮 Oh please give me a break!! This misogynistic bullshit is ridiculous! "I always protected and loved her from afar i.e, if any men approached her I would threaten them while I fucked around"🙄🤦‍♀️🤮So of course she remains a virgin and untouched for him! Oh! And let's not forget the same dark crap ever! He kidnaps her, she hates him but he has the golden dick that she can't resist! So he treats her like trash, kills her father (but hey! It was for his own good) 🤦‍♀️. So of course we have her being kidnapped and tortured by others so the cheater abusive piece of shit can become the hero of the story! YES!!! I NEVER READ THIS EXTRA-"ORDINARY" STORY BEFORE! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

This is a very quick dark romance ... truth is it was great. Too bad the beginning didn’t make sense?

I’d actually love it if the author answers this for me cause I’m so confused. (Warning spoilers ahead).

In the beginning, Prince actually hits her and then his henchmen Marcus (breaks her ribs) and Declan hits her quite a few times too.

Now it’s weird because once you get to the end and you know that Prince did it all for her, you’re kinda like ... if he’s loved her this whole time why would he hit her? It didn’t fit in with the Prince the author tells us he is in the end. In fact the Prince he is at the end would never lay a hand on her or let anyone else do it ... so home come in the beginning he let it happen so casually? I assume that the author wanted to make it DARK so she added it in but then it’s forgotten as if it’s not a big deal at all?

And when she finds out he did it for her. I get it but she should’ve thought about the times they hit her and bruised her and the time she went through proper depression. It’s like it happened then Declan hits her one last time and Prince says “no one touches her again”. So that’s that. At least he says stop after broken ribs and many bruises later.

But he NEVER apologised once for actually hitting her. For letting Marcus and Declan HIT HER. And the physical beating she got from them was never addressed. It’s like once we find out Prince loved her the whole time it’s as if the first bit of the book didn’t happen... Marcus became a good guy (ends up calling him family even though he’s punched and broken her ribs). Prince becomes a PRINCE (yeah ignore the fact he slapped you and let his 2 men hurt you).

Let me ask... which possessive H would still be friends with/trust the guy who broke your woman’s ribs? Which could be friends with the one who slapped her and punched her? Let me tell you... half 1 of this Prince cause in half 2, the author changes the narrative and doesn’t even discuss it ?

It was so weird and I’d actually like to understand more of that ...

It was really annoying cause if I ignore the parts where Prince slapped her and Declan/Marcus beat on her I would’ve loved it but I just didn’t get it ... it didn’t fit in with the characters Prince/ Marcus were in the end so I guess it was put in there just for shock factor? But wasn’t followed up ...

Just an FYI: the first time he meets, he does slap her (she slaps him first), Declan slaps her and Prince walks in and is obviously angry and then after the third scene where Declan slaps her/ Marcus breaks her ribs (Declan ordered it) and she comes out of her depression, Declan hits her and then Prince puts a gun to his head threatening him. So she’s not being beat up the whole tome I felt I needed to clarify cause my review was a lot about that. But she was still physically abused by all 3 and 1 ends up a friend and 1 her man but it’s never discussed?

Oh and in general I wouldn’t promote this book cause you don’t even know Prince and Lilliana’s relationship is even like ... it’s more like abuse sex abuse sex she gets depressed he stops abuse she gets kidnapped he gets her back and as if he never hurt her HEA ... I’m like what? What is their normal dynamic ? What are they like as a couple? So I wouldn’t call this a romance per day ... don’t expect to believe in the love of the h and H cause I have no clue how they work.

A part of me is like ... would he hit her again? Man we just needed one convo about his bad treatment of her

And btw anyone who read the book and thinks differently / wants to share their POV including the author in case she felt I missed something I would loooove to understand it here

It doesn't make sense!

There are repeated comments about the same thing. As though its be edited and paragraphs left in.

I get shes was depressed and time seems to go by but you still need to continue the story, it jumped to she had been with the prince for 3weeks!

Declan and Marcus beat her up repeatedly! It doesn't make sense with the story line! The Prince loves her but let's them beat her! Managed to get to half way through the book and gave up.

I enjoyed this book so much!

LILLIANNA

I really like this lassie. Even though she feels vulnerable and lost in this world she is still feisty and does not go down without a fight.

I felt so bad for her throughout this book. Her’s has not been an easy life. Her mother walked out on her when she was very young and her father wasn’t a good guy at all. He was never directly cruel to her but he was never an actual dad to her either.

He was always much more interested in getting pissed and gambling all their money away. Quite often leaving Lillianna hungry and cold.

She was extremely close to her older brother but he was killed when she was a teenager leaving her with only one family member in the whole world.

This guy is a prick.
He owes money big time and as he can’t pay cash, he gives them his daughter instead!!

MALACHI

This man takes what he wants. Always. And he wants Lillianna.
Malachi is a complicated man. There are so many feels in him but he doesn’t share them with anyone!!

He buys Lilliana from her prick of a father and locks her up in his house, under guard.
His guards are also pricks by the way.

I was raging, so I was, that he let the guards beat and humiliate her.

The way he treats her is...confusing to say the least. He’s cruel to her but you know there’s something else going on here.

Part of me wants to get inside his head so bad and the other part just wants to throat punch...and then kiss it all better...multiple times.

You are teased with tiny glimpses into his mind throughout the book until the end where Raven Amor lets you in, lol.

Then it’s like “BAM!” he just becomes hotter.

SEX SCENES

Pretty steamy! I mean, who doesn’t like angry sex? Also, this man is a growler, and you know how much I love a growly man. So primal and hit, right?

I drag my nails down his chest, across his nipple, making him release my lips on a hiss. His eyes pin me, full of power, strength and heat. Breathing harsh, lips swollen, chest bare, with red streaks from my nails, he looks like pure, raw male, red-hot blood pumping through his body, ready to mate, to claim. He rips my top off, leaving my breasts bare to him, aching just from his look, needy and wanting. I throw my head back as his fingers circle my nipple, wanting him to touch me. Opening my eyes, I see that smirk on his lips, hair ruffled from my fingers. The ache between my legs grows as I lift my hips to grind against him. But as if he knows my movements, he pulls back, just out of reach, driving me crazy with lust, becoming drunk off it. I cry out as he bends his head, licking the tip of my nipple before doing the same to the other. His hands join in roughly, squeezing, and pleasure erupts through my body as I arch toward him, offering him more. I feel his smile against my skin. “Pull me out.” Shamelessly, I move straightaway, pulling at his belt buckle, undoing it before pulling the zip down. I wrap my hand around him, hot and heavy. He watches me through heavy eyes, showing me what I do to him, the raw, unadulterated passion that's running through his veins and something else, just below the surface, strong and powerful as the man itself. “Tighter. Ah, fuck! Yeah, that’s right, beauty, so good.” His breathing turns as heavy as mine as his fingers slip into my pyjama bottoms, running across the inside of my thigh before snaking under my knickers. He runs his fingers through my wetness, pushing inside of me, and my hips buck forwards. His thumb circles my clit as his fingers stroke inside of me, hitting that spot that make me see stars. “That’s it, beauty, ride my hand.”

FINAL THOUGHTS on OWNED BY HIM by Raven Amor

I really enjoyed this one. It was quite dark and dangerous.
The story kept me in its grip all the way through and my heart ached for everything Lillianna went through.
I will be reading more from Raven Amor in the future.

This is a new to me author. I really enjoyed Owned by Him. The story and plot were great. The writing style left a little to be desired. I think sometimes she was just writing words to fill the space. Also needs proofreading. Not sure if I'll pick up another book by Raven Amoe. We'll have to see.

Style: Dark Romance
Story: 3/5
Sexual: FAIR/GOOD
Enjoyment: 3/5
Series: N/A

This was an interesting read for me. Just like most books for me if I could review in parts I would. Author warn that there are parts that can be disturbing to few so anything that can trigger you with aggressive behavior or hitting should not read this book.

With that being said, for the most part I really liked this book and the storyline, the moment the story started it had me hooked and pulled in. As the author gave us POV from both Lillianna and Malachi, the author was very vague in the beginning with Malachi’s as it was so short and I mean that in a good way because it kept the mystery and allure of Malachi going, especially as Lillianna kept transitioning in and out of the past that makes you wonder what the hell happen to Malachi. Their chemistry was good and I can’t believe I’m saying this ( don’t judge me) while their sex was good it was just ok, as I wanted more from them because I did not feel fulfilled after and that’s just my personal opinion.

**SPOILERS**
Don’t know if this would be a spoiler but just incase, Lillianna’s brother, although not present I actually am intrigued by him and the story of him and he’s dead!!! which I really don’t want him to be dead so by any miracle I would love to see a story with him but don’t think that’s happening, but really loved her brother.
Some readers also may find it disturbing that she was punched had a broken rib and was treated not so nice as this is a Dark Romance, but apart from this it’s a go and a read for me.

Overall, good read, if you are a fan or able to tolerate Dark Romance, I would say give this a read.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life, its definitely about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the stories you read. I hope this review was helpful.

I don't know how to review this story since while I loved one thing, I despised so many more things. That being said, I couldn't not read it, so that's why I did end up giving it 4 stars after a cool minute thinking about it. Now, Lillianna is the one major things I LOVED about this story. The poor girl had nothing good going in her life, and yet, she wasn't completely broken either, instead didn't go down with a fight. Her mother died with she was young, her older brother who she was close to actually got killed, so she's left with a useless father. He wasn't abusive to her, but he gambled too much, so when the debt was too big, he sold her to his debtors. Enter in the worst hero I've ever read about in my life, Malachi, who actually was her brother's best friend, and the man she secretly loved. He's so horrible that he allowed his guards to beat & humiliate her (Strike 1). Then, he wanted her but always humiliated her with hard limits for me (Strike 2). Finally, he catches feelings but still pulls some major BS which was Strike 3 & he's OUT for me! I never went backwards & forgave him because he's an unforgivable pathetic POS, and I wish she had stabbed him in the throat & found someone else. I'm normally down with the dark & twisty, but there comes a point when darkness has to lighten up a bit. Again, I kept reading it for anything to douse the flames of rage I felt, but yeah, he went too far too many times. Anyway, this is just my opinion, you'll have to decide for yourselves, as you may forgive him, so hit your one click buttons to form your own opinion!

It’s written in dual POV, her characters clash between the early years as Lilliana and Malachi faced off against each other. Lilliana in her feminine perspective ....Malachi’s was brusque, masculine and always alpha.

Lilliana has been blindsided, her life changing forever within the blink of an eye. We are with her as memories of the past assault her mind, the growing up with her brother, and his best friend, the handsome young Malachi...her prince, and her devotion to him. Until it died along with her brother, she just knew Malachi’s blood was on his hands.

If there was one thing that disappointed me as much as it disappointed Malachi, was Lilliana’s love for Jack, her waste of space father, because seriously, she should’ve kicked him out of her life a long time ago. Instead, she seemed to keep him like a mill stone, she was deserving of some punishment. In fact, even I wanted to slap her and tell her to get over it already ...

In not giving up on Jack, she also never gave up on Malachi, her prince that she’d fallen in love with as a much too young girl. if she would have it would have ended the hope of some love and goodness still remaining in the threatening, dark and murderous Prince of the underground kingdom, now before her. The man she still loved, and yet hated.
the chemistry is hot and insane. talk about love an hate relationship
never knowing where the next hit was going to come from until the blinds were ripped and the bullets start flying. This author did an awesome job leading you in a NOWAY moment...
Great Job Ms Amor

Every once in a while an author comes along and completely knocks you off your feet......

Raven Amor is that author!!!!!

She delivers an absolutely captivating story that grips you within the words that effortlessly flow across the pages and transports you into the deliciously dark world that's being portrayed, this is definitely a book that once you start you HAVE to finish...

"I crave the man who is draped in darkness , who wears danger like a lethal aftershave."

Lilliana and Malachi are far from your average love story , it's a story full of heartbreak ,lies and betrayal with twists that make you scream and moments that make you swoon with enough steam that is so hotttttt you'll be fanning yourself down. A fantastically written story with strong main and supporting characters, it really is a phenomenal read ...

"I am not your princess who needs saving, I am your queen"

If this is how she starts her writing journey I'm so excited to see what the future holds

Raven Amor is a new to me author and I have to say that I'm really happy to have found her! Owned by Him is a dark mafia romance. Take the dark label seriously as this book has quite a few triggers. Raven Amor created a dark and dangerous world full of suspense, mystery and betrayal. Lillian is such a strong heroine you can really root for. She is definitely taken advantage of by those meant to protect her, and my heart broke for her throughout the book. Malachi is dark, mysterious and hot af. He embodies everything I need from an alpha anti-hero. Their chemistry and connection is undeniable. I enjoyed glimpses of Lilliana's childhood and her budding relationship with Malachi. Ms. Amor created a thrilling action- packed ride I didn't want to get off of. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books from this talented author!

*First time reading author

Owned by Him is a mystery of who is working with who and why what happened happened. Lilliana is a sweet girl that has had a horrible deck of cards given to her, her whole life. A bad father, mother and the only saving grace is her brother and his best friend.

Hayden and Malachi are best friends and when sh*t hits the fan between them Malachi goes away and Lilliana has nobody but her father, which isn't saying much. Just when all seems lost Malachi shows up and makes Lilliana choose between her father or him.

There is a warning that Owned by Him is written in British writing and that is fine, but you do have to remember that while reading. But other than that I really enjoyed this story and hope to read more from Raven.

Loved this twisted, messed up story!!!

This book was twisted, totally messed up and I loved every single word of it!!! Some content may be triggering to some readers, so just keep that in mind. If you're like me and love everything dark, twisted and messed up, this book is perfect for you.

Lilliana has had a strange relationship with Malachi since she was a kid. She swore to him when she was eight that she would marry him, at sixteen she swore she loved him. At twenty-three she swears she hates him for becoming just like his father and because of her father Malachi owns Lilliana. He plans on breaking her and keeping her captive for the rest of her life as payment for her father's debts. This is a dark, twisted read and I highly recommend it!

I love dark reads but this was a little too dark for me and the killing baby expect is not one that I enjoy so I won't read another book from this author and I hated this book very much the characters had great sex though at least that was good too much violence for me.

I loved Owned by Him by Raven Amor and gave it 4.5 stars.

"The once grey walls are now covered in graffiti, as if I’m following some screwed up yellow brick road that’s leading me home".

This book was everything that was promised to me.

😈It was dark and twisted.
💥It was a suspense in a way that a few times my heart was pounding so hard that I was afraid it would break out of my chest.
💔There was so much pain and tragedy that broke my heart over and over again.
💕There was love and beauty.
🩸There was blood, death and ruthless cruelty.
💖There was so much rawness and emotions that I lived a whole lifetime between the pages of this one book.
💘There were secrets, twists and turns that still made me feel like I got stabbed in my heart most of the time. It didn’t matter that I saw them all coming, I still felt everything.
🔥There was passion, some steamy scenes and intense moments.

Lilliana’s father made a deal with Dark Prince (Malachi Kingston, her brother’s best friend and ruler of the underground), he sold her to him in-exchange for the money that he owned. That’s how this dark tale of hate-to-love romance starts and then brings you into a world of ruthless cruelty and heart-shattering pain with some twists that will make you feel way too many emotions at once.

"“Please.” A single tear escapes, burning its way down my cheek. I hate myself for showing any sort of weakness, especially in front of Malachi and his thugs. He isn’t the kind of man to scoop up my tears and free me of my sadness. He would put the tear to his lips and taste its saltiness, savour the taste of my pain as if it’s the finest wine."

The book had two POVs mainly Lilliana’s, but sometimes we also had Malachi’s chapters. The main and side characters were complex and well developed. They had more than just one shade of colour, not just black or grey or white or pink, but still all of them were in some way or another very twisted and messed up.

"I watch her eyes as they take me in, everything that is around me, and I know she sees it: The monster have become."

Dark Prince was a monster, a cruel and ruthless man, however, even in the blackest parts of his heart, sometimes there was still some light of Malachi in there. He was the type of a hero that you hate and love at the same time, as he so very slowly, step by step grew on you, even if you didn’t want to forgive him, at the end your battle against him will be lost.

"“Betray me, and you will regret it. You’re right, I am not my father. I am so much worse. Your own shadow will be scared. The paranoia will grow day by day. it will fester, eat at you from the inside, wondering where I am, is today the day I come. Because make no mistake, I will come.”"

Lilliana was strong and brave. The way she grew and changed during the pages of this book was something else, she surprised me the most. I loved how her childhood’s love for fairy tales was intertwined in her present thoughts.

"The princes in my story chucked me to the dragon. Sold and bought me. But I’m no princess either. I’m not this snivelling poor girl. My whole life I have had to fight, to survive, to work out the twisted rules of this world."

The few flashbacks we had were amazing, especially the one where she was 8 years old, that was the cutest thing ever. She was adorable and sweet. Also we had a glimpse of Malachi as someone she loved, as her Prince. She really had thing for fairy tales, princesses and princes who save them.

"He was right, hope has no place, not with people like me. This isn’t a fairy tale. My prince didn’t save me, he destroyed me. They forget to tell you that princes can be evil, can take your heart and rip it out of your chest."

There should be many trigger warnings put out there like blinking signs of some questionable bar on the side of highway breaking the peaceful darkness of night. Some of the warnings include death of family member, abuse, violence, rape, torture, kidnapping, depression, blood and countless crimes. This book is not for faint of heart.

"Beauty, you’re lost in darkness, but you are not alone. I’m coming for you. I will always find you. I see your unshed tears, hear your silent screams. Grief has you held prisoner, but he doesn’t know you’re mine."

If you are looking for morally clean characters then this book is not for you. If you are looking for sweet and fluffy love story, then this book is not for you. But if you want to feel raw emotions and in a way like someone punched you in the stomach then this book is for you. If you can handle very dark themes in fiction and morally dark and challenged characters, then this story is for you.

"Glass, blood, roses, thorns, rivers of ruby. It all clashes together, spills on the floor. Beauty, pain, love, tragedy. All of them opposites and yet they belong."

I loved this book mainly because it was an emotionally powerful reading experience for me.

The blurb had me intrigued in this book but unfortunately the novel itself was a letdown & I ended up DNF-ing it at 45% for A LOT of different reasons.

Content warning for both the book & my review as I'll be discussing Ephebophilia, physical assault, and abusive relationships which have been depicted in the novel.

There will be spoilers for the first 45% of the book.

Right off the bat, I did not like the relationship between Lillianna & Malachi.

The fact that he met her when she was eight and he was eighteen is weird, the fact that there are flash back scenes from when Lillianna is sixteen and Malachi is twenty six where he is obviously attracted to a literal teenager is skeevy as hell.

I'm really over books & authors who try to make out like Ephebophilia (sexual interest in mid-to late adolescents, generally aged 15 to 19) is ok by having the teenager - who is almost always the girl - coming onto the adult as a way of absolving them of there actions & feelings.

An adult man should not be attracted to a literal teenage girl, no matter that she's doing.
Him saying basically any variation of 'this is wrong' and fighting the attraction & not acting on it himself does not make it ok because that attraction should not be there to begin with.

This is their first kiss when she is sixteen and he is twenty six;
Calloused hands cup my chin, bring me to meet his eyes. I pull in a sharp breath at the softness there, as the rough pad of his thumb wipes my tears away. Something passes between us that makes my stomach quiver, my breathing choppy, and my heart pound so hard I swear he can hear it. I stand on my tiptoes, drawn to him like he’s my gravity. It’s all wrong, forbidden. He’s my brother’s best friend, twenty-six, but I can’t stop the way my body leans toward him, as if pulled by magnetism. The force is undeniable.
The touch of our lips, a ghost of a kiss, sends a stab of something through me. I don’t know what it means, but I know I want more, already crave it. A sound I didn’t even know was possible falls from my lips.
“Fuck!” He jerks back as if I burned him, his eyes wide, like he can’t believe what just happened. He turns, his fist curled as he starts punching the wall until streaks of red appear.
“Stop!” I grab his arm, making him flinch. His eyes widen when he sees I’m in my underwear, as if he hadn’t noticed before. He grabs his hair, pulling at it, looking sick.
...
“It was nothing.”
His brows pull tight. “Nothing?” There’s a bite to his words. Is he angry? Of course, he is. I had just thrown myself at him, stolen a kiss that never belonged to me. I can still feel the tingling sensation.”

And just prior to the kiss there had been multiple mentions in the flashback of him essentially checking her out;
Malachi stands on the other side. His eyes widen at the sight of me, unblinking. His gaze breaks from mine first but stays on me, taking in every inch, slowly, from my silver heels to my deep raven hair. It’s different from any look he has given me before. It feels like he’s undressing me, right here in my doorway. I have never felt so naked, vulnerable, raw, yet at the same time alive.

I also have to say, him intimidating her date isn't exactly not acting on his feelings for a teenager because it was clear he did it out of jealousy and not because he was being overprotective big brother stand in because he thought the guy wasn't good enough.

I am twenty six now and the idea of being attracted to a sixteen year old is beyond revolting.

Also the fact that he says this to her;

“He kisses the side of my mouth, before nipping my bottom lip, then licking it. “You’ve always been mine, haven’t you—Lilliana?"

For context that is said during the present day & is immediately followed by a flashback of what he's referring to when they first met. She was eight and declared that she would marry him when she was older because she was a princess and since his nickname was Prince that meant they were meant to be together.

That flashback, and any that took place when she was a child, were painful to read because of the over the top & annoying baby talk tone they'd been written in and were entire chapters of an eight year olds stream of consciousness.
I know I’m not allowed to disturb the men when they are playing with the cards and pretty-coloured chips. I did that once because I had a bad belly and felt sick.
Jack had screamed in my face and shaken me like a little doll. His spit landed on my cheeks and his face turned very red.
The back room is always smoky, like a dragon’s breath. The men drink beer and shout at each other. They slam their hands on the table with a loud bang, and that always makes me jump. They have pretty women bring them drinks and sit on their laps. I don’t understand why Jack likes to play with all those men but won’t play with me. He never lets me join in.

I know it's a dark romance but there was so little romance or chemistry between them and so little character development that it made absolutely no sense why these two characters seemed to like each other. Even the sex scenes lacked any sort of chemistry and just seemed very to be written in a very "wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am" sort of way.
They'll be talking or arguing, with barely any description or indication of how she's feeling and then suddenly they're banging & there is still no real description of her she feels or any chemistry between them, and then they're done.

He also physically hits in the face, throws her against walls, pulls weapons on her multiple times while threatening to kill her (we also see from his POV that he is seriously considering following through on those threats). He stands by while his staff and cousin treat her like crap and physically assault her and he does nothing to stop them. At one point the cousin and one of the staff (who had seemed to be warming up to Lillianna just prior to this scene so it was a shock to see him do this) beat her so badly she broke a rib and this is just not addressed.
Although Malachi wasn't present at the time it happened he does see the aftermath and just doesn't even really react to it.

That scene also happens just before she goes to talk with the police when they show up at the mansion, which makes it utterly ridiculous thing to have done because the reason the cousin is beating her is to make sure she knows not to tell the police that she's being held against her will. Why, if you need someone to convince the police that they're safe and not being held against their will, would you beat them so they're in huge amounts of pain & incredibly distressed?

As if a police officer seeing the woman they suspect is being held against her will coming into the room moving stiffly - obviously in pain - and upset isn't going to be a massive red flag.

Like this was not dark romance, this was just an abusive relationship where both people seemed to utterly despise the other. By 45% of the way into the book there was no progression beyond this dynamic either and there really didn't seem to be any indication that it was going to change. This for me, combined with the poor writing, meant there was nothing to keep invested in the characters or the story to make me want to keep reading.

There were a lot of continuity errors, for example one minute Malachi is crouched beside Lillianna on the floor holding her hair, she stands up - no mention of her walking away from him, just that she stands up - and the next he "walks - no, he prowls towards me".
If she just stood up and hasn't moved any further, exactly how far is he walking/prowling towards her? Because he was within arms reach of her before she stood up, so surely when he stands up he is still within arms reach which doesn't exactly give you enough space to walk towards someone. Step towards or step closer maybe, but not enough to describe it as walking.

The writing & plot also seemed very choppy & disconnected which made it difficult to follow. Time seemed to shift but there was no really description or anything to indicate that it had & you're reading and think it's later that day or the next day but suddenly you realise its a few days or weeks afterwards. This sometimes seemed to happen in reverse too, where you think it's a day or few days later but really it's only been a short amount of time thats passed.

The book as a whole felt - or more accurately up to 45% since I can't say what it was like after I stopped reading at that point - felt more like a bunch of random/loosely connected scenes thrown together. There was no real sense of a cohesion to any of it.

This became worse during Lillianna's mourning montage where the author is clearly trying to convey that Lillianna is in shock & is trying to recreate the sort of montage you'd expect to see in a movie (think Bella sitting in the chair as the seasons pass in New Moon) and this technique is not executed well at all.

“Something has taken over, almost like it is protecting me.
The sun hits me. I’m outside? When did I get outside? I blink.
I am back at the house. When did that happen?
“Would you like some tea?” Do I want tea? I nod. Yes?
I look up to see Clara trying to take the cup from my hand. “Sorry, it's cold. I’ll make you a fresh one.”
I look down at the mug in my hand, the tea stone cold. “Thank you.” I smile—I think.”

Then a couple pages later;
“When did it start raining?
It’s stopped, and white tiles surround me. Is this a bathroom? I’m wrapped in a towel. Why is Malachi—Prince wet too? Did we just shower?
I’m surrounded by heat, the softness of the sheets. I’m in bed again. The red light of the digital clock flashes, showing me 3:49. I blink: 3:50. I blink again: 8:23. Blink: 8:24; blink: 13:56; blink: 13:58; blink: 18:10; blink: 20:40.
“Lilliana, you need to eat.” I look up when I hear the rough voice, seeing Prince holding a sandwich. I turn back to the clock: 23:17. Blink: 1:30; blink: 3:42.

It ends up being a very confusing few pages (its about just over six pages) and then suddenly she seems to have snapped out of it and is walking down a hallway. There's no real recovery or showing her 'waking up' from the shock at all, its just a few pages of her coming in and out or awareness then suddenly walking down a hallway seemingly over it only for her to snap and start smashing things.

This quote is the start of the chapter after this montage where it seems like she suddenly recovered but has no indication of how much time as passed;
“As I walk down the stairs, I feel a change in my body. Everything that had been asleep has now woken. The numbness has left and been replaced with fury. I feel my lips curl into a sneer at the fancy, decorated hall. All its poised beauty… it makes my stomach turn.”

The book is written largely from Lillianna's point of view, however there are random chapters from Malachi's perspective that are literally only a couple of lines or at most slightly over a paragraph of his incredibly melodramatic musings that don't add anything to the book except to leave you puzzled over what the point of it was.

Each of these quotes bellow are chapters from his POV, as in each quote is the entire chapter;
Chapter 12:
Hate me, love me… it doesn’t matter, Beauty. You are mine.

Chapter 16:
Who knew tears of sorrow tasted so sweet?

Chapter 18:
Beauty, you’re lost in the darkness, but you are not alone. I’m coming for you. I will always find you. I see your unshed tears, hear your silent screams. Grief has you held prisoner, but he doesn’t know you’re mine.

Honestly it makes it really difficult to take Malachi seriously as this dangerous crime lord when his point of view reads like an angsty teenage boys poetry & adds absolutely nothing to the plot.

Lillianna's own point of view was melodramatic at times as well, as if the author was trying too hard to tell the readers how Lillianna was feeling rather than showing us and it just ends up sounding ridiculous.

Neither Lillianna or Malachai were interesting or well written characters. Both were incredibly bland and two dimensional, with little to no character development. Similarly, the plot seemed to be pretty much nonexistent, at least for the first half of the book.

By almost halfway the only things that had happened were some excessively long flashback scenes, Lillianna being taken and then spending the majority of her time afterwards being threatened, lashing out at Malachi, being physically assaulted and treated worse than crap by pretty much anyone she has contact with, zoning out to emotionally protect herself, having sex with Malachi twice (I think it was twice, it may have only been once), and her father dying which is what triggers the six page mourning montage.

So all in all this was not an enjoyable book, and unfortunately I really couldn't find anything I liked - even a little - about it. I would recommend saving your time and money on this one.

Hmm

I really wanted to like this book. I struggle with everything done to Lily. Her father's betrayal, the way she paid the price, I could get that. What I can't get past is how vicious Malachi, Declan and Marcus treated her. Marcus and Declan physically beat her and Malachi allowed it. Going as far as breaking ribs and laughing. That along with everything else Malachi did to her is enough to say no thank you! She just forgives all of it? Yeah, domestic violence is Never okay and is a big no for me!!!

A Dark Romance that held me in its’ thrall.

Wow. Who is Raven Amor, and where has she been hiding? This is the first book of hers that I’ve read, and she just blindsided me, and took me for the ride of my life.

It’s written in my favourite dual POV, and I loved the way her characters clashed between the early chapters as Lilliana and Malachi faced off against each other. Lilliana’s longer and in her feminine perspective while Malachi’s was short and brusque, masculine and alpha.

Lilliana has been just as blindsided, her life changing forever within the blink of an eye. We are with her as memories of the past assault her mind, the growing up with her brother, and his best friend, the handsome young Malachi who always had time for her, and her own undying devotion to him. Until it died along with her brother, and Malachi’s blood on his hands. Ms Amor’s writing was almost poetic, injecting a lot of visual imagery into my reading experience as she guided me through Lilliana’s thought processes.

If there was one thing that disappointed me as much as it disappointed Malachi, was Lilliana’s love for Jack, her waste of space father, because seriously, she should’ve kicked him to the kerb him long ago. Instead, she seemed to keep him like an albatross around her neck, almost as if she was deserving of some punishment. In fact, even I wanted to slap her and tell her to get over it already, until....

...until I thought I'd come to some sense of understanding. In not giving up on Jack, she also never gave up on Malachi, the younger man she’d fallen in love with as a much too young girl. To do that, would have been to end the hope of some love and goodness still remaining in the threatening, dark and murderous Prince of the underground kingdom, now before her. The man she still loved, and hated.

And even though Lilliana and Malachi didn’t spend too much time together throughout this book, the ties between were forged in remembered memories, and in iron. Seriously, I tell you the chemistry was hot and insane.

I was held in thrall through this entire book, never knowing where the next hit was going to come from until the blinds were ripped from my eyes and the bullets started flying.

Holy crap, I actually had heart palpations and messaged my blog sister that she HAS to read this book! She one-clicked it there and then. You should too. 5 damn stars! 🖤

This is the story of Lilliana Parker and Malachi Kingston, aka the Dark Prince, or ruler of London’s underground.

Poor Lilliana, oh dear my heart just about broke for her from chapter one. What she goes through time after time just isn’t fair. She pulls on her inner strength so often but there comes a time when even the strongest question how much more they can tolerate. I was totally blown away by her character, her ability to love and her depth of understanding for others.

Malachi is without doubt, not the easiest character to like at first yet that bad boy charm held me and sucked me right in. He certainly had a few layers to his personality. I liked both lead characters as a couple when they weren’t antagonistic towards one another. 😆

Great descriptions of characters, settings, and scenes bring this story alive where you can easily visualize what happens reel by reel in your mind, better than any movie. For example when Lilliana is describing her brother’s death, “... when he died in a pool of ruby.” Your mind sees the glistening blood that has bled from his body as it spreads around him from just these few words.

This dark romance is a fast-paced read, I literally couldn’t put it down it was so good. I am now craving everything this author has ever written as she has certainly tipped my reading world upside down with her incredible imagination.

A story full of suspense, strength, unconditional love, and twists.

Lilliana has lost one very important man in her life. Now she only has her father left and even though he’s not father of the year material, he’s still her father and she would do anything for him. Unfortunately for her, that’s about to be tested. There have been three men who have meant anything to Lilliana in her life, and she is about to be reunited with one of them. Too bad she hates him and wants nothing to do with him.

Malachi is the Prince of Darkness. He is dangerous, deadly, and has no soul, at least that’s what Lilliana believes. He is a man who does not let anyone see the real him. He’s actually a man in control of his destiny and will do anything for the one woman that means the world to him, little does she know that though. It will take a dangerous situation for her to realize that all that Malachi has been doing is trying to protect her.

I loved this story. The pages burned with the lives of Lilliana and Malachi, their lives are so different, but still connected. They are both strong people who love deeply and completely, when they let people into their lives. They will fight for what’s right and each other until they both realize that their lives are not complete without the other. I give this story a 4.5-star review and recommend it to readers who like Mafia, dark romance, strong women who are not afraid to stand up for themselves, or twisted romance. This was my first read of Raven Amor, but I am sure that it won’t be my last. I enjoyed this story and found her writing to pull me in and hang on to me throughout the book.

okay... 3.5 stars for this

What I dislike from the book
1. The fact that the H was getting a bj from OW and called the h's name was eew. Regardless that Lili was underage so they couldn't screw each other wasn't a relief.
2. Malachi was an asshole half of the book. Didn't know why he was an abusive asshole and let his cousin and friend slapped her and harass her and hurt her. Just why? When he said he loved her. What's confusing is he said he would destroy her. Why? For what? She didn't do shit to him tho.
3. The fact that she was hurt and bleed in the hand of the hero is fucked up. Yes this is, indeed, a dark romance.
4. He went from protective to abusive after seven years of no contact with Lili was, again, mind boggling
5. The fact that she miscarriage-forced abortion- before she knew she was pregnant, saddened me.
6. The ending with no marriage, just declaration of them getting married and no baby is just sad
7. The fact that she loved her good for nothing dad til' the end was quite unbelievable

What I like from the book
1. The heroine somewhat had backbone
2. The gruesome scenes were somewhat realistic
3. I sort of believe-no matter how fcked up-that they love each other
4. Bad ass and dark, as to what I prefer nowadays. idk why
5. The twist was predictable but not blatantly obvious

A confusing caricature of a dark captive dark romance

No doubt,it had potential, but I found myself soldiering through certain questionable or flat out senseless portions. There were several times where I wanted to give up thinking ,"what the actual...why is she being beaten, ribs broken,by a supposed champion when there was nobody present to to fool ? And even if there was,it seemed pointless and gratuitous.
I so wanted to like and enjoy this as it could have encompassed many of my favorite plot devices, but instead I found a confusing, headache inspiring caricature of the dark tale I craved. It was as if a it was written without consideration of an cohesive plot line with the adversary turn coats obvious and the H and he's plight, aims and goals an overblown, baffling, jumble .
I believe this author has skill and hope this honest assessment meant as constructive critique will be accepted as such.I certainly would consider reading future work.

Wow! What a ride! Seriously...Lilliana & Malachi face off from the very first chapter and their tumultuous ride kept me on the edge of my seat and white knuckling my kindle. I loved the complexity of these characters, their stubbornness & at the very root of their core their love for one another. I couldn't get enough of this book! Seriously, so so good! Fab read!

This is a book that encapsulates the blurred line between love and hate. A dark romance that, like Lilliana, had me unsure about Malachi at times. Lilliana’s life hasn’t been the best; a father that doesn’t care for her, a brother that was her everything and her naive love of a man that is shattered.

With an allusion to the fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast, we are taken on a highly emotional and twisted story of love, loss and betrayal. Misplaced loyalties that could cost Lilliana and Malachi everything are uncovered, but can they survive the fallout?

This is not a story for the faint of heart but absolutely worth it!

I LOVED everything about this book. Malachi is the dark prince we've all dreamt of at some point. He's ruthless, determined and pure alpha delight. And Lilliana isn't the sweet innocent girl I thought she was.

The two of them are perfect together and their fights are like fuel to the fire that consumes them in an inevitable passion.
