A New Start. A Flower Shop in a Wealthy Town. Discoveries of Secrets, Lies and Murder… Olivia de Silva is a fresh and aspiring florist in the coastal town of Starport. As the doors of Starflower Florist open to the public, Olivia is distraught over a break-in that has wrecked her show-stopping bouquets. As Olivia picks up various clues, suspicions bloom that someone in Starport has it in for her. The dazzling wealth of the elite residents of Starport serves as a blanket for the underlying mysteries that plague the town’s past and present. Olivia soon discovers that whether she likes it or not, she finds herself in a world of thriving scandal and violent bloodshed. As the new resident in town, Olivia must dig into a history she knows nothing about in order to uncover the seeds of truth. This is Book 1 of The Flower Shop Cozy Mysteries.
Olivia moves to Starport to open her own florist shop. The day of her grand opening she walks into a mess. All the flower arrangements for her first client are destroyed. She again sabotaged at the event. She gets a new client but unfortunately she ends up murdered the day of the event. Everyone has secrets and so does Olivia. How will the murder be solved and Olivia finds herself right smack dab in the middle of it all. New friends. New home and a new business. Time to find a killer and get on with her life. Not a very long book but it is definitely a nice read and I really want more.
A fun new florist mystery with some interesting characters that I'm anxious to get to know better. There was a good twist later in the book that I definitely didn't see coming. A quick and clean read, and I'm anxious to borrow more in the series when they come available.
I really liked the detective and his daughter. Instead of immediately suspecting Olivia, Opus saw something in her that told him she'd be a good friend for his daughter Sammy (or maybe that Sammy could keep an eye on her lol), and I'm glad the two girls hit it off. It'll be fun to see what happens with Olivia and Seth, because they definitely seemed interested in each other.
Meeting Olivia and Seth for the first time was a reader's treat!! I enjoyed the interaction of the characters in this book as they learned to use each other to solve the murder. I'm looking forward to Book Two: Corsage Killings.
