“The writing is top notch, and her stories stay with you because they're THAT good.”
She’s reckless and damaged. He’s the only decent thing in her life. A deadly arsonist attack. Who’ll be next?
Cat Lawson is called back to Stargazer Ranch by a hard-to-refuse job offer, but the first person she comes across is the very last person she wants to see.
Levi Wilson rues the day he ever met Cat. She was the girl of his dreams who abandoned him six months ago. Now she’s back.
On the day of Cat’s return, a luxury cabin is set on fire and Cat becomes suspect number one. Levi knows he can’t trust her; but then his head never did agree with his heart. One thing he does know, however, is that Cat is no arsonist, and against his better instincts he becomes a friend and champion in her time of need.
Surely, he can’t be falling for her again, can he?
Cat finds herself irresistibly drawn to Levi once more. He’s the only one who can see through her reckless behavior to her damaged soul. But commitment was never one of her strong points and he deserves better. Which was the whole reason she left him in the first place.
When Cat is caught in a wildfire, she knows there’s a killer stalking her. As the flames race up the mountain, time is running out for Levi as he tries desperately to save the woman who means everything.
Suzanne Cass has always had a fascination with the tough resilience of people who live in our amazing red-dirt outback country. Much of her adolescence was spent working as a jillaroo in the Snowy Mountains, forming her love of lean, enigmatic, cowboy heroes in wild, passionate, dangerous stories. When not writing about the characters that inhabit her head, Suzanne can be found prowling the Perth beaches with her border collie, or yelling from the sidelines as her two sons play sport. Her debut novel, Island Redemption won the Romance Writers of Australia award for best unpublished romance novel of 2016.
I would recommend that you read the prequel, Combustion, before reading this book. Possible spoiler: Cat returns to Stargazer Ranch after being gone for 6 months and of course, the first person she runs into is Levi and yeah, the sparks are still there. Levi can't believe that Cat has returned and although he tries to evade her, Cat's boss likes to throw them together. They get sent to check on a rogue bear that is troubling the ranch and on their way back they see signs of a fire, the first one in six months. Again it is one of the guest cabins, but fortunately no one is home. This time the police treat Cat as a suspect, but her boss gives them at least three other suspects to check out. Levi and Cat try their best to ignore the attraction between them but when they are together they send out sparks like the wildfires they have been fighting. This book is full of intrigue, romance, snark, and love, although you may learn the outcome of Levi and Cat's relationship, you are not guaranteed to learn the identity of the arsonist.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was an enjoyable beginning to a new romantic suspense series, Stargazer Ranch Mystery, set in Montana, which sounds like a beautiful place. It's worth reading the prequel Combustion before reading Wildfire as it sets up the background for the relationship between Cat and Levi.
Tough motorcycle riding nomad Cat is determined not to let anyone into her heart. Levi, the new ranger makes this a very difficult task, however.
I really liked both these characters, Levi was definitely a honey. I enjoyed the relationship between these two very different characters, opposites can definitely attract, especially when one can see inside the other.
There's an arsonist on the loose and when Cat returns, so does the arsonist. This is a fast-paced read, things get pretty hairy for Cat and Levi and there are a few people looking good as the culprit. Don't expect to find out who it is by the end of this first book, there's more of this mystery to come in the next book.
Thanks to the author for a digital copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Wildfire is book one in the new series called Stargazer Ranch by Suzanne Cass. Six months ago Cat Lawson left her job has the mechanic at Stargazer Ranch in Montana to go and travel the USA on her bike. Cat decided to return to the Stargazer Ranch when Dean, the owner, asked her to return to Stargazer Ranch when her replacement mechanic resigned. However, Cat did not expect to see Levi on the first day she arrived at Stevensville. The readers of Wildfire will continue to follow Cat and Levi to see what happens.
Stargazer Rance is another fantastic series by Suzanne Cass for me to enjoy reading. Book one in this series Wildfire is an excellent and enjoyable book to read. I love Suzanne Cass portrayal of her characters and the way they intertwine with each other throughout this book. Wildfire is well written and researched by Suzanne Cass. I like Suzanne Cass description of her setting that compliment the plot of Wildfire.
The readers of Wildfire will learn about how to run a rural holiday retreat. Also, the readers of Wildfire will learn about living in a rural community in Montana.
Thanks to the author for my free ARC copy for an honest review. I recommend this book.
Have just read this book in one sitting; I could not put it down. The first sentence grabbed my imagination and I was hooked: - “The deep-throated rumble of a motorcycle engine caught Levi Wilson’s attention.” There are no wasted words or superfluous rambling in this novel. It is all action and flows well – great storyline. I am looking forward to the next book: “Firelight”.
A damaged childhood has left Cat with commitment problems turning her fiercely independent. Due to her utter lack of trust, Cat left Montana six months ago, deserting her lover Levi without any explanation.
Leaving Las Vegas and returning to her old job in Montana, the first person she encounters is Levi, the man she loved and left. However much she tries to avoid him she knows their attraction to each other is still strong.
When she becomes trapped on a mountain in the path of a deadly forest fire, Cat discovers that she has to trust Levi as the only person to save her from the flames.
The end contains a cliffhanger which shouldn't spoil the reader's enjoyment, book three follows.
A well written thriller that'll keep the reader intrigued to the very end.
ARC generously supplied by the author and BookFunnel, this review is my honest opinion and completely unbiased.
Levi and Cat had an explosive relationship, then she left. Six months later she's back and the arson attacks start up again. Are they targeting Stargazer ranch or her? Can Levi get passed her just up and leaving? Can Cat stay in one place and form a commitment?
Another great read in the series, looking forward to the next one.
This book provides plenty of danger and suspense that keep your eyes glued to the pages until the very last word. While the second chance romance is an important part of the story between Cat and Levi, so is the arsonist who is setting fires that they both seem to be unable to avoid.
Cat is very independent, tough as nails (or at least that is how she presents herself) mechanic who travels light and often on her motorcycle. She stayed on Stargazer Ranch for about a year before abruptly leaving six months ago after a passionate month long affair with Levi. He is a Park Ranger in the area and was hurt and disappointed when she left without warning. Both came from dysfunctional families with alcoholic fathers and absent mothers (who left or were deceased). While Levi is open to the idea of love and commitment, Cat is not and she has made it a habit to move around constantly to avoid commitments. That being said, something deep inside her compelled her to accept the job her former boss offered and return to Stargazer Ranch.
At first they try to avoid each other, but that proves to be impossible. Two fires brought them together in the first place, and now another fire has been just after she returned to the ranch. Now on the suspect list, Cat is warned not to leave town again, not that she had planned to do so. Both Cat and Levi feel the pull between them, and they even know that it is more than just attraction that they feel for each other. The arsonist is stepping up his/her attacks, and suddenly both Cat and Levi are in the fight of their lives. Forced to take extreme measures, declarations of love are also made to each other as they face what could be their last moments alive.
This book is a must read and a keeper. The romance is hot, the characters brave, bold and trying to resist the ties of love, and the dangerous actions of an elusive arsonist keep readers on the edge of their seats. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Like oil and water: One really has to read the prequel novella "Combustion" (free on Amazon) before reading this and I wish that it had of just been combined with this book as it is only 49 pages long, yet it provides necessary context and background. You also have to sign up for her newsletter and download the epilogue separately which I think also should have been included with this book. Despite these annoyances, this is nevertheless a well written and enjoyable book. Cat is prickly, standoffish and fiercely independent. When she bolted and left Stargazer ranch without saying goodbye, Levi thought that he'd never see her again. With Cat suddenly back they had to navigate their way past hurts and obstacles to find the connection that they had once shared. I liked how Levi saw past Cat's defenses and that he was able to show her that it is ok to be vulnerable and depend on somebody else. I loved the setting of the Montana countryside and thought it was fun that Levi was a park ranger and Cat a mechanic. I also enjoyed the added mystery and suspense regarding the arsonist and my heart was pounding during many of the action scenes. One word of warning, not everything is wrapped up in this book and it looks like the mystery thread of the arsonist is going to carry into the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Once again Suzanne Cass engages the reader and holds you till the very end. I must admit that I think Rural Romantic Suspense is my favourite genre and Suzanne is a master at making you turn those pages as quick as you can and leaving you wanting more.
Wildfire is Book 1 in the Stargazer Ranch series but I have since discovered there is a prequel called Combustion that first introduces us to Cat and Levi which I will go back and read. This one can be read as a standalone but I feel reading Combustion will give me insight to the beginning of their romance.
The story centres around Levi and Cat, their will they won't they, relationship after she left the ranch abruptly for 6 months. At the same time as Cat's return, a deadly arsonist returns to the ranch lighting deadly fires.
Who is the target Cat, Levi, Stargazer Ranch, or Dean and why did they start again when Cat returned?
I am ready for the next installment so I am happy that Firelight is ready for me to read - who is the arsonist and why are they lighting fires!
Thank you Suzanne for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Suzanne Cass, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I could not put this book down because it was exciting from beginning to end. Cat, the Stargazer Ranch mechanic, left on her motorcycle after an affair with Levi, the new Park Ranger. She is back after six months. Cat and Levi still have feelings for each other but neither wants to admit it. When someone starts setting fires again on Stargazer property and Cat ends up in danger of getting hurt again, Levi has to get involved. They are also forced to work together to track down a rogue grizzly also. I highly recommend this book for an exciting romantic suspense with a HEA ending.
Cat returns to Stargazer Ranch, after being gone for six months. We learn that Levi and her dated for a month before she left. What’s going to happen now that she’s back? Is the chemistry still there? If you enjoy a suspenseful romance, I recommend reading this book. This book kept me flipping the pages and I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait for the next story to see if we find out who the arsonist is. No spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Book 2 in the Stargazer Ranch Mystery Romance Series is a very well-written Rancher/Feisty Woman romance story with wonderful characters and good scenes. This story has action, danger, mystery, adventure, twists/turns, chemistry and love with a HEA that must be worked for. These characters have wonderful personalities that are brought alive by this Author. Suzanne Cass’ romantic suspense is easy-to-read, fast-paced and thrilling, culminating in an ultimate life-or-death choice.

Cat returns to the Stargazer Ranch and is again caught up in fires being set. Levi was shocked at her arrival. Who is the arsonist and will he/she be found? Suzanne Cas had me so wound up that I had to take an emergency angst break, but the suspense had me back between the pages within minutes to read further. I just couldn't stop. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
What a whirlwind of emotions that I had while reading this book! I kept reading well into the night because I just couldn’t stop until I got to the end. Ms. Cass is a skilled storyteller, and I am well and truly invested in these characters from the Stargazer Ranch family and the mystery surrounding the fires. I can’t wait for the next book to come out! I received an advanced copy of this book from the author, and am giving my voluntary and honest opinion. Highly recommended.
I absolutely love this captivating book with exceptional characters in a world that is so realistic it felt like I was on the journey with them. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author that knows how to captivate the attention of their readers
I really liked this book. It's romantic, exciting, and has a good bit of danger as well! But who was starting all the fires?! Will the next one be more revealing? Or is this cliffhanger an eternal one? Can't wait to find out! Well done!
I was enjoying this book to the very end. The search for the arsonist was going nowhere and someone was still setting fires, so I read until 1 AM, and when I reached the end, the arsonist WAS NOT FOUND.
How could an author do that to me? I consider it elder abuse!
This story has highs and lows. There were parts that kept me reading in anticipation. And, there were sections I found myself skipping because they were so boring. I've decided not to read the next book in the series
This was a great story full of action and suspense of whose doing what and then the fear of being burned alive. Scary stuff too and I loved the little hero that thinks he's a bear. Great story
My first introduction to the Star Gazer Ranch. Lots of drama and suspense involving an arsonist. Characters are interesting with the proper amount of angst and issues to keep you intrigued
Cat and Levi had a history they couldn't escape. Fire also chased them at every turn. Just when they thought the arsonist was behind bars more fires chased them again.
This is the first book of the Stargazer Ranch series, it was a fantastic read but it is not a standalone book, you will have to read the other books in the series to find some answers.
Story started out a little slow but picked up momentum shortly. Enjoyed the characters and the mystery of the fires. Read well which is always a plus. I would recommend.
