Samantha Bennington is a life coach, muse and producer who now adds author to her already distinguished resumé. Her autobiography, titled Falling Love Notes, is a fiercely candid look at her determination to live life to the fullest, while simultaneously sharing the stories of the loves of her life. This book takes the reader on a revelatory journey of her impassioned pursuits, starting at age seven with her adopted family, to eventually becoming a rock and roll wife, record producer and artist’s muse. Throughout her story, Samantha shares with the reader some of the most adventurous, personal, and vulnerable moments of her life, never before heard or read about, from before, during and after her marriage to Chester Bennington. With a foreword written by Stephen Carpenter (co-founder and lead guitarist of the Deftones, and advance back-of-book notices from renowned author and manager Jackie Kallen, Chester’s mother, Susan Eubanks; sister, Tobi; and Mary Forsberg Weiland, and cover art designed by son Draven Bennington, this book is a must read for anyone with a dream and the heart to pursue it.
This is a very good discribed, memoreble memories written about everything there is to know from the past and present about Samantha Bennington's life. Through al the tragedy all the love surrounded with her kept her going. She is a SURVIVER!! It is also a good inspiration to move on in a positive way and that life is beautifull and make something of it!
It was great to see inside Chester Bennington's life through the words of his ex wife. But there was a bit too much "off-topic" rambling. It was like talking to someone who is constantly going different directions; before finally getting back to the topic at hand.
I should've skipped once I realized the author formed her own publishing company to get it out. I forced myself to finish it. Interesting story by a very weak writer.
Samantha Bennington bares her soul and captivates the reader in this great story of her life. It isn’t one of those tell all books that hurts others. Instead, it is one of inspiration and survival. I love how she expresses her feelings by writing “a love note” to certain people in her life. She takes you on a journey from birth, death and moving on but never leaving those who are close to her heart behind. It is a book I couldn’t put down and finished it in one day. This story touched my heart and I thank Samantha for sharing her life with us.
Samantha gives a deep reflection on her life and a deep perspective of Chester. It felt like you had an opportunity to understand who Chester was as a person through her storytelling.
I hoped for more perspective of Chris Cornell - being a huge fan - and the timing of both their deaths. I understand that Chester and Chris were friends outside of their relationship which seemed legit given the context. However, was disappointed that Samantha and the editor let a huge typo go through and reference Chris Cornell from Autoslave and not Audioslave. How can you get that wrong?!?
Not at all what I thought this book would be about. None the less, it isn't the worst book I have read. I kind of expected to read more about Chester in this book.
Well holy trash bags. Obviously, I only read this because she was married to Chester Bennington. I would have DNF'd three pages in otherwise.
Things I wasn't a fan of: • It's self published. She said it was so no body held her back from saying anything, but seems more like she didn't want an editor and also that no one wanted to publish it. (Because trash). • She called Audioslave: Autoslave. • Her use of "lol" and "lmao." • It was all over the place! I wish I had the patience to create a timeline of everything in the book. It would be hilarious. • She's a "Certified advanced DNA theta healer." Certified. • All the shout outs. God damn. Tell them! In person! None of them are reading your damn book and none of us care! • She called Audioslave: Autoslave. 😑
Now my biggest dilemma is what to do with this book. Do I keep it? Do I offload it? Who would read it?! Ugh.
(Sep. 2022) I respect the author as she has the right to write anything she wants on her own book; but just a reminder, this book has limited content about Chester. Maybe it is not the right book to read if you are only interested in Chester and care less or even nothing about his ex- wife. It is kind of a bibliography by her and mostly about her, and Chester was only one of the people she married before. No names of other LP members were even mentioned until I had read 80% of the whole book.
From my selfish point of view as a fan, I wished to see more description about Chester before I started with this book, such as his childhood, the real motives and struggles of his behaviors, how he shaped the skills achieved a lot step by step, funny stories in the backstage and on the tour… I will keep looking.
(Update Oct. 2022) I read a real book about Chester, a book written by a true fan with every bit of shining points about his life. I realized then Samantha’s book almost never mentioned Talinda, Mike and other members of the band. It is weird since those people were spending so much time with Chester and they were so close and important to him. You can not ignore these information, unless you deliberately chose to. My guess is that Samantha does not have a good relationship with other significant people of Chester. And ironically, even she declared many times as a successful and independent woman, no one will search and read this book if she has nothing to do with a famous figure, and even the possibility of publishing this book would be questionable.
So, one advice to LP fans, do not read this unless you have nothing better to read about Chester.
This is a book about Samantha Bennington's life. Not just with Chester, but her life growing up, her ups and downs, and how many people inspired her to who she is today. I read this book with an open mind. The story of how she grew up rang a bit close to home, so throughout the book I understood and felt great empathy for the way she was treated by the ones who were supposed to protect her. The love notes were a nice touch, as I felt it brought her closure by those who inspired her and brought her pain. She gives a generous amount of pages towards her and Chester. I enjoyed reading about their time together. All and all I thought it was a good read. Great job!!
This book gave itself away once I learned that it was self published and funded. Nobody asked for it. It’s an attempt at making sure the author is free of any question. It also sounds like a narcissist that can’t stand not being in the limelight anymore. I gave 2 stars because the sons artwork is great. Other than that, it’s just rant after rant of name dropping and attempts at looking like she was his friend when those of us close know better.
As a Chester and Linkin Park fan, I was mainly interested in this book because of the subject matter, but I thought Samantha did a great job telling her story and would be interested in future works from her. The only negative was that you could tell it was a newer writer but overall a good read.
