I am Tinalynge, an aspiring author who is deeply inspired by eastern fantasy such as wuxia, xianxia, and xuanhuan. The first story I wrote was Blue Phoenix, a series I poured my very heart and soul into creating.
Since I started writing, I have finished Blue Phoenix at eight books, Overthrowing Fate at three books and began Condemning the Heavens. Although I have finished two series so far, I still consider myself a beginner in the world of writing. I am aware that my writing still needs to evolve and grow to become better, and as a result, I work very hard daily to improve my writing and produce stories that people can enjoy reading.
Thank you, everyone, who has read my books, I am sure that with your continued support I will be able to continue improving and create worlds filled with wonder and excitement.
This book has such good good bones ... but... The book has great potential but struggles with the very basic of what could take it to the next level, a good editor. There were so many things that with one you know it would have been caught and adjusted slightly. To the listener they were so prominent I was often pulled out of the story. Things like chapter breaks being awkwardly placed or the same sentence being repeated. I had to take a minute to research the author a few times, assuming that maybe it was someone young. While I didn’t get that cleared up I did find out that the book is a translation, so it’s possible that is why I reads awkwardly, but I doubt it. I finally settled on 3 stars because in spite of its struggles it really is a good story. I’ll likely listen to the next book, but it’s really because I’m hoping that with some experience the author will start to show growth (and maybe even find a good editor) I’m hoping it improves. I genuinely think this author has talent and with the right editor could create something amazing with this series.
I enjoyed that the protagonist doesn't like "false face" persons, or persons who are only nice to you after they see you can do something for them. I also liked that he doesn't lift a finger to help people that made his life hell (physically and mentally) when he could have. I hate books where the "hero" puts his life on the line to save someone that tried to kill him. Stupidest trope there is.
When you strip away all the fantastical happenings in this novel, you see how much "face" and "looking down" on someone could mess up your life and that of your family.
This does give some insight into the Asian culture and their type of honor. Glad that doesn't happen where I am.
Book: Condemning the Heavens: Publisher's Pack: Books 1-2 Author: Tinalynge
NO SPOILERS.
The Pack contained two books, World of Beasts, Book 1 and Blood of the Army, Book 2. Two books that were the doorway to a fascinating and intriguing story. It's not different from what you'd expect from the Wuxian genre, but it is very interesting. But what really intrigued me, was the unknown. A mystery of who Xue Wei is and why he has to deal with what he is dealing. I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.
Starts off with some pretty repetitive language like everyone is copying each other and the author fealt the need to repeat every instance. Gets better aftet that, but its not ever great. The storyline itself is better than average, but not great.
I went into this with no real expectations. However I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. It was really interesting and a great start to a new series.
Second time listening to this series and it was just as good as the first time. I feel that this series is much better developed than Riluo City which had way more plot holes. If you enjoy cultivation stories or just general progression fantasy this is one of those hidden gems that are truly underrated. None of the negative reviews from audible or the separate books holds true imho. Give it a chance and don't allow negative reviews to influence you I almost did and I would have never known what I missed.
I enjoyed the novel and the publisher pack was s good deal for a credit. As far as cultivation novels go, it was pretty interesting, the whole beasts thing was very intriguing and unique. Can't say more or I would spoil the story, but there are some very good stuff in there related to him and his identity. There were some tropes that I'm not super fond off, but nothing really bothersome. I liked the characters, they felt very real, although some were a bit exaggerated as we are used to. The romance was one of the most sweetest i have ever read, and want to see how it will develop. The narration was decent, I like his work overall, although the narrator doesn't pronounce the characters names as they should be read, he even gets the author's name wrong...
