This is the first time I've read a biographical story written by the serial killer, rapist and thief, himself. It was not a pleasant content but valuable. This guy wasn't born the monster he turned into, he was made by misconceptions, ignorance and the lack of empathy of those around him. In a time when discipline was synonym of physical violence and even torture. It would have been a miracle if he had turned a good man after all he went through. Even though he was well aware of the difference between good and bad, he took the dark path. But I think he couldn't have prevented it since the little he had inside to resist was destroyed. The justice system was a joke and this guy knew how to make it more laughable. It's a relief that many things have changed since his time, but there is still a lot to do. Correctional facilities are still factories of criminals in many countries. What he wrote makes you think about the fragility of children and the extend of evil a broken child can reach.
There is no excuse for many of the things Carl Panzram did. That being said there's also no excuse for many of the horrible things that were done to him. I have worked in corrections for nearly 20 years and I am disgusted by the way things used to be done. I wonder how different things would have turned out for Carl if only one person had shown him mercy and kindness when he needed it. Don't let anyone you can be kind and merciful to pass you by and you could be preventing the creation of another Carl Panzram not to mention all the crimes and victims.
Garbage. I do have some sympathy for the way the author was treated as a child, but it was hard to continue with the wild stories of rapings, sex, countless tales of sodomy, etc. I felt dirty after reading this. I kept wondering how he would have turned out if someone, just one person had shown him some kindness. Maybe he would have been a different person.

Literally in his own words, a bullet point auto biography. Don’t expect an in-depth explanation but rather a bare bones summary of a violent life. I found it fascinating and sad.
