Woahhh this was interesting. Well, i really wasn't expecting anything when i picked this up but oh boy, WHAT A TWISTY RIDE IT WAS!!
Picture this: a love story with a secret ingredient... suspense! Novoneel Chakraborty's "'Cross Your Heart, Take My Name'" isn't your typical hearts-and-flowers tale.
"'Cross Your Heart, Take My Name'" is a captivating novel brimming with love, deceit, and suspense. The story centers on Garv and Nihira, a married couple, whose lives take a sharp turn with the arrival of Yahvi. Their plan to elope triggers a cascade of hidden truths, leading to unforeseen and dramatic events. The book delves into themes of love, relationships, and the darker aspects of human behavior, offering a thought-provoking and compelling experience. The highlighting part of this novel was the unique exploration of infidelity. I particularly appreciate how Nihira makes Garv recognize her value. And tbh, i think those prone to boredom in their marriage and who view daily life as dull should reconsider the concept of lifelong commitment.
What makes the book more captivating is the author's way with words – drawing you in emotionally and crafting a storyline so intricate, you can't help but get hooked. The characters are so real, you might just find yourself thinking about them long after you turn the last page.
Suspense readers should give a chance to this book!!
This is another masterpiece from my fav author and my first read of 2020 as well. This book is a thriller based on relationships with 250 pages. The writing style and the narration of the whole story is amazing. The story goes in past as well as in present situation.
The story is about a married couple Garv and Nihira. They were in long distance marriage where Garv used to live in Pune and Nihira had to work in Bengaluru as per her project timeline for 2 years. She used to work for an NGO. As every lovestory cannot be perfect and has some flaws, same goes with their story. Garv met Yahvi, a married woman at airport and then they both decided to meet frequently where their meetings turned into attraction and that attraction turned into companionship. They started to find a companion or a person on whom they can rely on and can share everything. The person who can give love and care at the same time .
And then the time came when Garv and Yahvi finally decided to leave their partners and create their own world somewhere far away. Yes, they were leaving there partners for their relationship. The most intense twist came when Yahvi cancelled their runaway and found missing. There was no clue where she went. Some people said she died because of illness, accident and so many things. Will Garv be able to find missing Yahvi? Is Yahvi still alive? Will Garv be able to confess his relationship with Yahvi to Nihira? How will Nihira react? An interesting part in the story is when Garv tried to find most of the clues as well as her darkest secrets from her Instagram profile which took him in shock.
This book nicely explains about relationships and loneliness which can force a person to take such drastic step which he never thought of. Garv also felt to discover something more rather than living an ordinary married life. The story is filled with unbelievable twists and turns. The more you turn the pages, the more secrets will get reveal. Still I am bit disappointed with the end. May be I was expecting something more or something realistic but not that one which is mentioned. The end of the story will surely make you think about relationships. I really loved the message passed through the whole story. The book is highly recommended to everyone!
Very rarely I stumble across a commercial fiction which in turn reminds me why I stopped reading it in the first place. I cannot remember the last time I read something likeable from this genre and this one was no different. Although I was a bit hesitant to read this, I kept telling myself that surely a book by someone who is considered as India's popular thriller writer must be fairly good. But soon into the novel, I realised that there wasn't much to look forward to. Cross Your Heart, Take My Name falls under psychological thriller, a genre that Indian writers barely use. The writing is decent and it reinforced the fact that perhaps this novel will be different from the other commercial fictions I have read in the past. But halfway through the novel, I had to trudge through the story, something that I do not enjoy doing. .
Garv is seemingly comfortable in his marriage with Nihira but long-distance takes a toll on him. He has no complaints apart from the fact that he has now settled into an ordinary marriage in which they do not have anything new to discover about each other. It is then that he meets Yahvi, a woman who's mysterious and alluring all at once. While Nihira lives and works in Bengaluru, Garv grows close to Yahvi with the two of them meeting up frequently over cups of coffee. And soon, Garv finds himself falling in love with Yahvi and considers leaving Nihira. The lover's plan of eloping comes to a quick end when Yahvi is found dead and Garv is thrown into a pit of darkness. It is when he tries to unearth details of her death that he realises that Yahvi was a complete stranger to him. Rest of the story navigates through Garv who tries to put all the pieces together to solve his lover's death. The book is fast-paced but unfortunately had more than a handful of loopholes. Not only was the protagonist unimpressive, there were many other characters who didn't seem to add anything to the story. The plot would have worked brilliantly given the execution part was done well but it all ended rather messily. .
Cross Your Heart, Take My Name by Novoneel Chakraborty is a romantic thriller written by famous Indian thriller writer! This is my first book by him, and I must say I am impressed.
Novoneel Chakraborty has the best gift of storytelling and making his books very very intriguing and gripping till the end. In this book we see the story of Garv Roy Gill, Nihira and Yahvi Kothari.
Garv and Yahvi fall in love with eachother and decide to leave everything behind and start a new life of their own, somewhere far. But Yahvi never shows up and Garv keeps wondering where she might be. Later due to social media he finds her and another story starts from there.
I liked how the book is written between two time frames. I would loved it more if we would be able to see more POVs. I definitely liked how the book ended and we get to see Nihira's perspective as well for a small bit.
If you are someone who like gripping suspence thrillers with romance and love in it, then Novoneel Chakraborty's books are your go to. His writing and story telling style is going to make even a simple and predictable plot quiet engaging.
What? Why? How? If and then, but and yet! When you read a novel by Novoneel Chakraborty you have these questions in your mind and characters in your heart ( yes most of the times you fall in love with atleast one characters for sure) till the time you finish the book. One more alluring thriller by this amazing author.
It's a story about a married couple Garv and Nihira and a Mysterious woman Yahvi. Garv and Yahvi fell in love with each other and decided to run away from their spouses and routine monotonous life. But surprisingly Yahvi didn't turn up the day the planned their escape. And when Garv decided to find our why he got to know some unbelievable secrets about Yahvi's life. It's an super interesting story with lots of twists and turns and dramatic climax. Definitely a great read!
I have read almost all books written by author and I must say, author never disappointed me by his engaging stories and lot of twist and turns. Overall the book is a good read with a nice message at the end.
CROSS YOUR HEART, TAKE MY NAME NOVONEEL CHAKRABORTY
#qotd Have your ever just bought a book and read it immediately! Maybe most people do this! But I don't! That's why I have no shelf space! I buy and forget about them! Not forget forget but they are there on the shelf cursing me now and then for not reading them ! . Anyway, This book was great! Yes! Great! I'll first share a few lines from the book... . "We live with the FRAGRANCE, which is what we are to them. And because they are so sure about who they think we are, they stop discovering us" WE STOP EXISTING FOR OUR PARTNERS THE MOMENT THEY HAVE US! . "A RELATIONSHIP IS NEVER THE DESTINATION. IT'S ALWAYS THE JOURNEY". . I don't usually do this... quoting from the book unless they are etched into my mind! But these days it's happening! Maybe it's because I started reading books in a new light and am learning something from them? Or maybe because of bookstagram! whatever It is, I'm loving this new habit of mine! That is remembering quotes 😂 . This book is about Garv who is in a long distance marriage! He falls for another woman who is also married and these both plan to elope! But the woman (Yahvi) disappears! Ha! What happens to Garv? Will he search for her? . I read four other books by this author and really loved the twists in the end! I really love the thrill and suspense in his books! That's one of the reason I picked this book! I guessed the end somewhere in the middle but again changed my opinion 😹 . I loved another thing about this book! It talks about the gaps in the relationship... How after sometime we take our partners for granted. A character in the book explains it beautifully with reference to moon. " Do you think the moon looks this beautiful every night? " "When it doesn't, do the stars give up on the moon?" . . Anyway I really loved this book! The beginning was a tad bit slow for me! So I'll give 4.9 ⭐ . .
It is my first book by this author. Premise of the story is intriguing and the story is fast paced, some philosophical phrases are insightful. Despite, it has some minor lags story is amazing and worth it for Unexpected ending.
It was going with a good pace but ending was really messy. I was enjoying the story with the twist and turns, the story was going good from my perspective but the ending was really really a big disappointment for me...
“In our desperate attempt to live an illusion, we shouldn’t compromise on our reality.”
Name of the book :- Cross Your Heart, Take My Name Author :- Novoneel Chakraborty Genre :-Fiction(Psychological Romantic Thriller) Publication :- Penguin Random House India Price :- 199
Garv and Nihira is a married couple but they were in a long distance relationship due to their work. Nihira worked for a NGO at Bengaluru and Garv at Pune, still they managed to meet every weekend. Things changed, workload increased and every weekend turned into twice a month and then to once a month. Certain things were taking toll on their relationship still Nihira neverminds and was happy that Garv was supporting her. During the fifth month of their long distance she decided to pay a visit unknown to the fact that her life would be changing after this. Nihira found that Garv who never used social media was active on different dating sites. Not only this, he was busy in sexting with many other women. She was shattered into bits and pieces. Her bubble in which she was living seemed like somebody has bursted out of sudden. There were plenty of questions which were hovering in her mind "Why would he do this to me? Just because I was not physically present in Pune" and many more. But there was no one to whom she could have asked for the answer. She wanted to confront Garv but at the same time she wanted revenge.
There's a twist in the story when Nihira comes to know about Garv's prosopagnosia (face blindness) about which Garv was unaware. This puts Nihira in dilemma. She wanted to break this news to Garv but meanwhile she wanted to do what Garv has done to her. This leads to the story and discloses how an extra marital affair can lead to a destruction and what a woman could do if she's obsessive about her marriage. There where few more characters among which Yahvi Kothari plays a major role and spices up things which you would get to know once you read this.
Talking about the plot, if you're picking Novoneel Chakraborty's book then be assured, it will have a gripping plot. Though there where few places were it had unnecessary description, was a bit repetitive and slow. After reading many of his books, I would say this is good but not the best work of his. One who has been reading his books can probably predict his twist and turns. But nevertheless, it is thrilling for the newbies. And yes, the cover could have been better and more relatable.
Novoneel Chakraborty what would I say about your writing sir, you always come with a bang and takes my heart away with your amazing story and this story also took my heart and touched it.

Finished Reading "Cross Your Heart Take My Name" By Author "Novoneel Chakraborthy" and here are my reviews:-
It's a story about a married couple Garv and Nihira and a Mysterious woman Yahvi. Garv and Yahvi fell in love with each other and decided to run away from their routine life. But surprisingly Yahvi didn't turn up the day, the day which they have planned their escape. Give me sometime to breathe. What? Why? How? When you read a novel by Novoneel Chakraborty you have these questions in your mind and characters in your heart till the time you finish the book.
Novoneel Chakraborty what would I say about your writing sir, you always come with a bang and takes my heart away with your amazing story and this story also took my heart and touched it.
He writes the characters and the scenes so perfect that you can't say it's fictional. When the story ends you definitely feel that there is somebody of the same name and personality somewhere. The other thing which is worth a mention is the detailing of the places, names and the whereabouts of every person of the book.
I have read each book written by the author and he never let's me down.
A gripping and twisted plot with a nail-biting experience and unpredictable climax. Brilliant narration and well crafted plot with the right amount of emotions. Unstoppable read. The transition time between the past and present is wonderfully portrayed. Its is spellbound work of Novoneel.
All his books are of different flavours and this one is totally different one. I m really proud to be your fan sir and hoping to see your next novel.
Thank you for giving us this wonderful novel. I would like to give 5 out of 5 stars to this book.
The subject of extra marital relationships needs to be dealt with extra cautiousness, especially in an Indian context. Novoneel Chakraborty does that perfectly as while reading the book, not even once did I feel like questioning the actions of the main characters. The story involves Garv, his wife Nihira and the woman he is having an affair with - Yahvi. When Garv finally decides to elope with Yahvi leaving his wife and life behind, Yahvi unpredictably betrays him and disappears. The news of her death, or murder, reaches him too. And the reader finds Garv on the trail to the killer! I have read quite a few books by the author and this one, I finished over a weekend vacation to the beach. My takeaways are -
1. This is by far my favourite book by Novoneel Chakraborty till date
2. I feel it is his most mature work & also pleasantly low on the philosophical aspect
3. I loved the fact that this book is not as fast paced as the Stranger Trilogy or the Forever Series. This may be because the story progresses in two different time frames. Also the narration is complex though the language is lucid, making it a very satisfying experience.
4. The writer should more often use the first person narrative - I simply loved the chapters where Garv talks to the readers directly about his experiences with Yahvi
5. The twist in the end was unpredictable though you might be able to guess the name behind it (as the other characters are not that well developed)
'Cross Your Heart And Take My Name' is a good psychological thriller! No secret societies, nothing far fetched and quite realistic.
𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 - "𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁, 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗠𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲" 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘆 . Novoneel’s new tale is all about urban loneliness and the twisted relationships in the times of social media. Novoneel has a beautiful writing style wherein he brings every character, place and situation to life that even after finishing this book, I feel that I Garv and Yahvi are still real people living at a far off land and of course are friends with me :P
The plot of the book
Garv and Yahvi bump into each other at an airport lounge. Six months and many meetings later, they fall madly in love with each other and decide to run away from their mundane lives to start afresh at some far off place. But, here comes the twist, on the D-day, Yahvi doesn’t show up leaving Garv yearning for an explanation behind all this. As he starts to dig deep, he realises that Yahvi was so much more than the girl he fell in love with. Will Garv be able to find Yahvi or will he let go and move on with life?
What did I like about the book?
It was a gorgeous read for me with all its twists, turns and a dramatic climax in the end. Some beautiful heart-warming readnmarked quotes which I loved a lot. This book was a classic Novoneel book for me that kept me hooked till the very end. The characters were well-written.
What did I not like about the book?
Having read other novels too by Novoneel, this sure wasn’t his best novel. The plot went a little slow at some points and failed to make me bite my nails off while reading the book.
Overall I recommend this book to everyone as it will surely be able to deliver everything you are looking for in a novel by Novoneel.
🍁I personally believe books can be great escape from our miserable lives atleast for a short time! 🍁Have been reading a lot of NC books recently and I absolutely loved this one!!(Personal favorite✨) @novoneelchakraborty 🍁The story is just as attractive as it's book cover. 🍁As the subtitle says -"Everything special has a flaw".It has lot of dark plots with a deep message! 💯❤️ 🍁I couldn't review this completely in my 1st post as I was introducing my bookstagram!!So reviewing it here again. 🍁Garv,a married guy, lives in urban area.He suffers from a disorder called -"Prosopagnosia" (In layman terms they call it -Face blindness). Unfortunately he didn't know about this! 🍁Garv is bored of his montonous relationship & want to escape from it. 🍁 But Nihira, makes him realize her worth by her well planned revenge which just makes him go crazy!🔥 🍁Most of our generation live with fake lies & identities! 🍁Not just in books"Dissociative personal disorder" can be really dangerous and a lot of people suffer from it in real life too! 🤷♀️ 🍁Loved this book overall! 💫💯 🍁It has great message which is really important in today's world which you will get to know in the climax!!

Novoneel is my favorite author and his thrillers have always been amazing. They are intriguing and have the best plot twists. This time, [ according to me] I won't say this book is the best of his work but I appreciate the fact that while everyone was bearing the brunt of the pandemic which had taken a toll on all our physical and mental health, Novoneel came up with the idea of this book, wrote it and got it published within this little period. The book is a little slow, stretched at some points, not the one that keeps you on the edge of the seat, but yeah, it is something that will keep you hooked till the end. Another commendable factor about this book ( and most of his other books) is that he brings something new to the table every time, be it with the story, character, plot, or mystery. The same is with this. Although you will witness the classic Novoneel style from the prologue itself which will make you gasp for sure. It is a good one time read with a lot of advice on love and relationships. That's another thing I love about his books, the way he explains every aspect of relationships with his stories every time is simply commendable. Go for this book, you will like it for sure. ❤
I didn't have many hopes while ordering this book. Because many of his last books were an utter disappointment.
Forever Series Cheaters (February 2018) The Best Couple Ever (October 2018) Red Suits You (October 2018) Half Torn Hearts (February 2019) --- This is a better book comparing to all Roses Are Blood Red (December 2019)
So I was hesitant to buy this one, but I needed a book to relax from a heavy read. But to all my past disappointment this book was a better read.
I have noted the template in Novoneel novels and the same applied here, the mystery will be surrounded around the protagonist, all the characters around will be so cheesy and they will be giving a twist in the final. This same template worked very much well in the Authors hit Stranger Series book. But the same thing doesn't work now, but what works in this novel is the mystery content till the epilogue. And this guy is evolving from erotic story writer to writer which is good :P.
I would love to ask the authors fans especially ladies who go gaga when he releases a book, are you people not getting bored with the stereotype stories, even Chetan have started to write some detective stories, at least he is trying. Grow up fans.
The story is about a married couple Garv and Nihira who are in a long distance marriage everything was fine until Garv bump into a woman named yashvi at an airport lounge.
They both fell in love with each other and after several meeting decides to escape together and begin their new life. But surprisingly Yashvi disappears on day they planned their escape.
Garv felt devastated from her sudden disappearance .When Garv decides to find the reason behind that, he gets to know some unbelievable secrets about Yashvi's life.
The plot is gripping enough and the narration is quite impressive. This story is filled with unbelievable twist and turns and with every page you will reveal a new sectret. It's an engrossing tale which gave me goosebumps and left me awestruck at the end.
It talks about the gaps in the relationships and how after sometime we take our partners for granted.
This book nicely explains about relationships and loneliness which can force a person to take such drastic step.
I really loved the message passed through the whole story. The book is highly recommended to everyone!
The concept of institutional relationship takes a toll in our life. We try to take things for granted, search for little escaped to fill it with excitement and adventure.. It takes us on a rode of a roller coaster full of emotional turmoil and sometimes we find balance in it.. The "Oh! So perfect life"
Yahvi, Garv and Nihira draws our attention towards a tale of fictional love life, where a woman goes to the extremes to save her marriage. She defined it to a whole new level, breaking all norms and barrier. A relationship is a combination of emotional and physical proximity. Is it only defined by appearance or distance? This tale explores the explicit of marriage, love and life.
Mystery, as said, lies in the facade of the imagery world called Instagram or the blurry image of the post. How would you trace back on the dots and connect it to solve the puzzle? Is the picture-perfect or needs a filter to upload.
A cob web of stories to navigate through the road of curved pathway.
Initially, The reader will be jumbled between two scenes between Past and Present. But to remove such confusion, there is a date mentioned. If one is also unable to match two scenes, Then Just re-read the last few sentences of the previous chapter before jumping to a new chapter. It will help to continue the story from where it was Left.
You may think that How Yahvi is always in Lust. (Maybe Lust word is not good here) But the ending of Part I will excite you the hidden fact. Apart from it, Part II in the view from Nihara, Your mind will be blown off. When I was reading, I was a little bit doubtful about the fact that was revealed in PART II. But I ignored it in the same way as I ignored my ex and other guessed fact. I only kept reading to know the story and know what happened next.
Perhaps we had become like those books we bought intending to read, but remained on our bookshelves for years.
The above quote really hit others to read their book which they purchased to read. #KauaLe

This tale is about urban loneliness, relationships, and companionship. The story is very intriguing with lots of twists and unpredictable climax. The transition time between the past and present is wonderfully portrayed.
🍁Garv and Nihira are married couple who live seperately due to career reasons. 🍁Despite the gap, Nihira makes sure to travel back to spend time with Garv as much as possible.
🍁Meanwhile, Garv gets attracted towards Yahvi when they get to meet each other at the airport by chance. ° ° 🍁Gradually, their relationship grows and their love for each other starts consuming each other.
🍁When they decide to take a drastic step in their relationship, Yahvi mysteriously leaves the play.
🍁Garv tries to hunt for Yahvi when he discovers crazy truths about his lost love.
******
🍁When we readers think there are just mysteries about Yahvi, there are also equally craziest facts about both Nihira and Garv gets discovered. ° °
🍁Worth the thriller read, the discoveries were mind-blowing.
🍁No doubt, the author is addressed as Indian Sidney Sheldon. 🍁None of his books disappointed me until the moment.
Novoneel's works are something I picked up when the real world felt too tough, when I badly needed a medium to escape. And I return to them even now, after long intervals of time. Whenever I crave a sense of familiarity in the things I read, a touch of comfort.
I give it 3 stars out of 5.
⭐- I loved the way the characters were woven, especially the protagonist, Garv.
⭐- The psychology behind extra marital affairs explained by the author was up to the mark. People are indeed ready to risk a bond nurtured for years because of temporary thrill.
⭐- Like all his books, it was unputdownable.
⭐🚫- The ending was not completely agreeing to me. It felt like an 'I can fix him' trope. To be true, Garv did not deserve Nihira.
⭐🚫- I expected a more dominant role of social media in the storyline.
they say expectations hurt, and now i understood how bad it can hurt. being a constant reader of Noveleen's work, i had my expectations, but I am legit disappointed. Although this book offers you a great insight into your relationship with your partner, and with yourself too, and has some great one liners/ two liners to ponder upon, but the plot will definitely disappoint you ( atleast that's what it did to me). you know the thing where initially you get the whole build-up but in the end it all falls flat. that's exactly how this book is. so, if you choose this for a 'thrilling experience', i urge you to not waste your time. you can read his previous works like stranger series or forever series but not this.
Cross Your Heart, Take My Name is an extraordinary tale about urban loneliness, relationships, and companionship.
A gripping and twisted plot with a nail-biting experience and unpredictable climax.
Brilliant narration and well crafted plot with the right amount of emotions. Unstoppable read with heartwarming quotes.
The transition time between the past and present is wonderfully portrayed.
Loved the author’s comparison of monotony life to a perfect example of attending a magic show and the learning from mathematics that when a sum didn’t add up, one should start solving it from the beginning again.
The story is about a married couple Garv and Nihira who lived in different cities due to their nature of jobs. Garv had an extramarital affair with Yahvi, she was also married. They both met by chance at an airport. From there, the love story started. They were bored of their lives and they planned to escape from the city forever and never come back.
But, the twist came when Yahvi died in an accident suddenly but Garv got to know it was a murder not an accident. After her killing, he knew about her secrets which devastated him.
Overall, the story was good and the writing style of the book was also good. I liked the twist which came in the end of the book.
What an intelligent writing! When reading Novoneel's book I could feel the characters in real. He writes the characters and the scenes so perfect that you can't say it's fictional. When the story ends you definitely feel that there is somebody of the same name and personality somewhere. The other thing which is worth a mention is the detailing of the places, names and the whereabouts of every person of the book. I have read each book written by the author and he never let's you down. Go for his books if you are up for thriller, romance, suspense and some nail biting twists/cliffhangers!
Well Novoneel is one of my favourite Indian authors. This was one of his most disappointing works according to me.
If you try finding logic in this book then there is none. The ending was so messy I mean what on earth was the author thinking!
How can you not recognize someone you are with since the last 10 years? I don't want to give spoilers so leaving it to that.
But yes I realised a lot of things about relationships after reading this book so if I totally ignore the thriller/murder investigation part of this book then it was a good and necessary read for me.
I almost read all the books written by the author. Somehow, from the very beginning I had a hunch that there must be some wrong with the male character and as it turned out to be..bcz i had somewhat similar experience when i came across one of his books, Ex, a twisted love story, so it was quite predictable for me. At the same time I am very disappointed reading this book as I keep huge expectation from the author after being so thrilled with the consecutive masterpieces he has created in his sphere. To put it simply, I am not as amused as i used to be.
