Jet Stryker is unlike any man I've experienced before. I almost feel guilty for taking advantage of him.

I would definitely be safe from the men who are after me in the tiny backwoods town of Raston...except all this nature that seems just as determined to kill me.

The only problem is it's obvious I don't belong here. I'm an exotic dancer for a high-end club in Montreal, not some country bumpkin. I'm out of my element and my cash is running dangerously low. I need a plan, and that plan magically appears in front of me in the form of Jethro Stryker.

Did I say magically appear? I mean this sexy lumberjack-ed-up dude barges into my life when he throws a grown man through a plate of glass for insulting his sister.

Now I'm bleeding but my future just became a whole lot less stressful...

Cadence Miller is the most difficult woman I've ever met. But under all that tough-girl attitude, she's terrified, and I need to know why.

Always protect those weaker than you. It's a mantra I live by. The worst kind of men are the ones that feel big by making the small cower. I was raised by a man like that and you might say I find it a bit triggering.

But what started out as a fight over some dude-bro touching my sister ended up with a sultry brunette city girl living in my guest cabin.

When her past finally catches up with her, I might be in too deep to walk away.
---
Wild Side is a standalone opposites-attract romantic suspense with plenty of steam, a bit of mystery, and more of the small town Stryker family antics.

Allison has lived a few different lives—had several careers, traveled widely, and had a variety of experiences in her three decades of life. She’s climbed mountains for fun, been flown out into the middle of the wilderness to find her way back to civilization, and hopped in boats with her partner for ten-day paddling trips down rivers in the middle of nowhere with nothing but themselves for survival (and a bottle of whiskey if we’re being honest). If the zombie apocalypse hit anytime soon, Allison’s your gal.

These days, she lives a quieter life with her daughter, her dog, her partner and all his camping gear. She lives in the north Canadian wilderness where the sun never sets in the summer and winter is nine months long—if she’s lucky.

Allison Martin an author of many genres of books from YA to NA to Adult, but whether her characters are running from an intergalactic government or just trying to make sense of life in a small town they are tied together by a common desire to live life on their own terms. She’s published a dozen books, designed hundreds of covers, and edited some pretty cool stories over the last six years.

She is a mish-mash of many things and finally learning to just embrace it and make herself at home in the chaos.

This is a well written book with strong characters in Cade and Jet , two opposites with a sizzling chemistry. It's a romantic suspense with a bit of humor thrown in. The author brings it to life with her descriptive scenes and moves the story fluidly delivering an entertaining read.

When I picked up this book I knew very little about the story or the author but I am so glad I gave it a chance! In the beginning Wild Side jumped right in and, at first, if felt a little abrupt as it bounced around without a real explanation as to what was going on or why. That said, the story quickly sucked me in and I was lost to it all day.

Cadence (Cade) and Jethro (Jet) have a fantastic dynamic that just blossoms as the story progresses. Cade is a city girl that has to leave abruptly due to something that took place at work. On her escape she gets a hotel in a tiny town and ends up staying much longer than expected. Cade encounters Jet a few times and each time the connection is instant. As they spend more time together Jet can tell she’s running but doesn’t want to get involved, but finds himself involved, as to be expected. The story flows nicely, the tension builds, they both make mistakes and have to choose how to move through the results of their mistakes.

Typically, I’ll spend a few days reading a book but for this one I devoured it in one setting and wish I had more. If you’re looking for an engaging story with some steamy moments and a happily ever after, I’d recommend checking this book out! Cade has problems: the immediate issue is trouble at the strip club where she works, the deeper and more interesting problem is her own sense of self worth which defines her and undermines her throughout the novel. Cade is a flawed, lovely, entirely identifiable woman who can take care of herself but also needs to get to know herself—in other words, she’s just like all of us. Jet is a loyal, strong, tough guy. He loves without subterfuge and loves being needed. When these two get thrown together it is incendiary! The well-plotted suspense works well to give these characters enough conflict to work through their own inner conflicts. For a satisfying and steamy read wrapped up in a fast-paced thriller feel keep Allison Martin on your auto-buy list! Not only will the story keep you hoping, but it delivers a refreshing and note-perfect reflection on how people have to know themselves before they can truly love each other.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Book two in the series is about Cadence and Jet. These two meet when she is on the run and trying to find somewhere she will not be found. A handsy guy sets in motion their worlds being changed forever. They have great chemistry between them regardless of their differences. Jet feels protective of her and vows to help her with whatever has put fear in her eyes. Cadence gets a chance to see what it is like to have love and a family that has your back. I enjoyed everything about this book. I thought it was well written. The characters kept me glued to the pages. Each book in the series just keeps getting better

Jet knows Cade keeping secrets but his protective instincts kick into high gear whenever she’s around. Cade’s on the run and needs a place to lay low so when she hears that Jet needs help with his horse, she jumps at the opportunity. Jet sees right through her lies and even as they clash, Cade can’t deny her growing feelings for him. Cade refuses to pull Jet into her mess but with her enemies closing in and her family in danger, Cade does the only thing she can do as she goes to face her enemy alone. When a hero swoops in to help her, Cade will find out she’s not the only one keeping secrets. But can she overcome her distrust of men to let Jet in or will she lose the man who has stolen her heart?

I loved this book and I loved Cadence and Jet. Cadence is one stubborn but strong woman! Running for her life from some scary people, she meets Jet. These two together is explosive. So much feistiness in two people but it also adds to the chemistry that is between them! I loved the ending of this book because it allowed Cady to ride to her own rescue but didn’t discount the need for Jet either. I hope that explains how much I love the ending without giving it away!! The ending of this story was perfection. Jet knows exactly what Cady needs and how to offer it to her without overwhelming her. I am loving this family and this series! I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Cadence and Jet have so much connection between them that it almost sizzles off the pages. She is trying to hide and he wants to see what she might be hiding, but underneath it all, can they both find something that they didn’t realize they were missing? This book certainly is a page turner and I found their characters personalities to be very captivating. I look forward to when Allison releases her next book

OH my! Steamy with a bit of crass on the side. This book made me laugh and made me want to cheer for these characters! Them Stryker boys are hysterical. But you know once you enter into the town of Raston you better prepare to meet one if not all these fellas! This story is about Jett and Cadence. These two just click together. Like I said these fellas are easy on the eyes and not ones to go up against. A great story with a feel that delivers!

horse whisperer

Cadence (Cade) is running fromtrouble with a capital T.
Jet meets her at the city festival.
The two of them have many run-ins with each other.
Cade tries her best to stay just ahead of the trouble but it does not work.
Jet and her Pops try to help but she is bound to work it out on her own.
This is a cute enjoyable read.
Was laughable at some parts even.

This was my first read from this author. I absolutely loved the first person point of view of the story. This is a huge deal breaker for me. This story pulled me in from the start. It was exciting read, reading about girl, who was running from trouble. I will read more from this author in the future.

I like the mystery/drama and the sparks Cade and Cadence had.
Cadence has a lot of men issues and Cade is one that is an open book. They both have battles to work through. Loved the story!

“What I didn’t expect was what that kiss would unlock inside of me.”

4.5✨

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - we are sleeping on this series. So far both books in the series have been absolute bangers. Honestly, I love the suspense that the author builds up in each book. I think my favourite part about this book is how everything flowed together so perfectly and kept me on edge the entire time. The story was entertaining, emotional, steamy and had the perfect ending.

The novel's heroine is intricately crafted, with a deeply moving history that add heart-wrenching layers to her character. This complexity not only builds depth but also sets the stage for a discussion about the strength and determination exhibited by both characters in the story and how their relationship plays out🥹

Oh wow this one emotional high octane story and the journey only gets better.
Cadence is one fiesty girl with an uncanny nack of find trouble and the harder she tries to shake it off the deeper that darn proverbial hole gets.
However all she really needs to realize she doesn't have to stand alone.

Cade (Cadence) and Jet (Jethro) have very different personalities. He is country and she is city. Unfortunately at the beginning of the story, I was struggling to figure out if Cade was a male or female. I thought female, but then statements in the writing made me wonder. She is being chased by some seriously bad guys who want something she has and are willing to destroy her to get it. The story has a lot of action, romance, soothing cowboy country and family. I liked Cade's character once I figured out what was going on. The writing is okay, but not great. The plot itself is great, but needs some work. I just could not track through it.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Allison Martin; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is the second book in the Running Wild Series but is a stand-alone book; Cadence is hiding out but is starting to run low on cash; Jet is defending his sister when Cadence gets cut by the glass after he throws the guy through a plate of glass; he can tell she’s scared of something and offers to let her stay in his guest cabin.

Reading about the intense feelings in this book Protection Confusing and Conflicted affection. I welcomed the trials, the emotional drama and the unexpected passion. The chemistry between the H and h is undeniable and unexpected. The big secret leads to wasted time both romantically and for Protection.
Connecting with the characters may come easy in this story, following the plot might not be

I enjoyed this book a lot and was contemplating giving it 5 stars but I did tire a little bit of Cade's 'hot and cold' behaviour towards Jet (I understand her reasons - it just felt a bit repetitive) and I did have a couple of weeks where I didn't pick it up when I was about half way through! I do like Allison Martins writing style and she has created a world & characters I enjoy reading. I've already got the 3rd in the series and look forward to reading Zeke's story.

She's a calculated and in control woman.
He's wild but tame.

These are 2 sentences near the end of the book and that says it all. What a beautiful story with a very strong female role. Allison Martin not only writes a story but also gives you an insight into the psyche of a woman who has lost faith in men after a traumatic experience at a young age and how this has shaped her. Her choice of work only fuels her hatred for men.
When she catches 2 rich men admitting their crime and films this, she has to flee for her life.

Then she meets a man's bear, Jethro, who makes everything she thinks she knows about men disappear.
His urge to protect makes her attracted to him, feeling safe with him. Who fights for her, fights her fights but also dares to let go because he knows that she can fight her own

Highly recommended

This one was hard for me to review. Mainly because I didn’t connect with the MCs.

Cadence aka Cade is a former horse rider turned escort/stripper. She’s got some twisted cynical views of men and romance in general from witnessing abusive but powerful men abuse women in her line of work and from past sexual assault. She was a character on the darker side than I’m used to. There is no silver lining for her and it was a bit of a downer how she always assumed the worst of everything and everyone.

Then there was Jethro aka Jet. I guess Cade summed him up pretty well . . .

Arrogant, meek, strong, gentle, commanding, submissive. I can’t categorize him . . .

His character was trying to be the best of every cliché to make the perfect Hero but he never quite clinched it for me. He was understanding and sympathetic when Cade was a head case all the time and eventually I just wanted him to man up a little and call her on her BS. It wasn’t fair that he was always the one that had to give in. I get the appeal for a sassy, take charge heroine but Cade was borderline a bully and too manipulative, especially when it came to how she preferred to handle the men in her life.
