This book is an interesting look into the psyche of the firefighters assigned to Engine 8-12. About halfway through there is a twist that made me stop and say “what?” This twist gave me a new perspective of the characters. I really enjoyed the book until I neared the end and it got “preachy”. But it did grab my attention and held it throughout most of the book.

So then why the three-star rating? The book REALLY needed serious proofreading before publication. Normally this does not bother me, but in this case, I had to stop several times to figure what it was trying to say. It also, in my opinion, would have done better without the “preachiness”.
