Daughter of Hades #1-4

What would you do with the dichotomous power over life and death? For Chrys, apparently, it was to stay cooped up in the Underworld all her life. She wishes she could leave and see what the human world is all about, but her Father, Hades, would never allow it, as she was never supposed to be born. If Zeus found out, she would be sent straight to Tartarus. So she has stayed in Hades’ palace all her life, her only friends being a punk whom she convinced her father was a genius tutor, and a demigod who she may or may not have almost kissed (father would be so mad if he found out).

After a huge fight with her Mother, Persephone, Chrys decides she can’t take it anymore and has to travel to the human world, since her mother loves it so much more than her own husband. With her two best friends, Chrys travels through Oceanus and finds herself in London, England. Ready to experience what it was like to be human, Chrys decides they can stay for a couple of days before having to return.

Nothing could go wrong in that short of time, right?

Breathtaking
What a terrific series! With each book, Dani Hoots creates a marvelous bunch of characters. The action will hold you spell bound. And just when you think you might be able to breathe again something else happens. I can barely wait for her next series.

Daughter of Hades was a very captivating and spellbinding story that had me from the first page to the last. The characters were all well developed and sounded like real teenagers do. The world-building was incredibly and superbly written.

I love reading stories about Gods and Goddess especially the Greek ones. I am so enjoyed reading about Hades and Persephone’s daughter Chrys and her many adventures. Daughter of Hades is so full of mystery and suspense. I was hooked from the first page.

I love how each author puts their own unique twists on Hades and Persephone’s story. I love each and every character. I love following Chrys, Huntley, and everyone else as they try to come up with a plan to save Chrys and then implementing that plan.

If you love Greek Mythology, Greek Gods, and Goddesses then the Daughter of Hades Collection is just the book for you. Grab your copy of Daughter of Hades Collection for a great magical adventure!

Overall, this series was really fun! Hoots included a lot of Greek mythology, which is always an easy sell for me.

It didn't feel as polished as I expected, but I think that's in large part due to the narration. I listened to the audiobook, so after a while, Chrys's perma-morose tone and Huntley's perma-impatience got old. The paperback and ebooks editions won't have that, of course, so you might prefer them. As with any audiobook, listen to a sample to check if you like the narrator (and would be happy to listen to them for four books).

It was really nice to see Hades and Persephone working together by the end. There were also a few funny moments throughout which broke things up nicely.

If you like Greek mythology retellings, then check out this series. And if you love audiobooks and like the sample, consider treating yourself to the box set ;)
