The Fate of the Fallen #0.5

Daddy: A Fate of the Fallen Prequel

Rate this book
“I’m not calling you Daddy,” Rowan informed him.
Darius simply chuckled. “Not now, anyway.”
“Not ever.”
“We’ll see.”

Vampire Darius Halsen is looking for a boy. It doesn’t matter that he’s essentially in the middle of a war, where supernaturals have risen up against humanity and are in the process of claiming power. When he finds the defiant Rowan Conti during his duties assassinating human rebels and witches of certain bloodlines, he instantly knows the witch is exactly who he’s been looking for…Daddy kink. No age play. This is a standalone prequel to the Fate of the Fallen series and related book (excepting any other prequels). Because it’s set approximately 10 years before the series, there’s no need to have read the other books. Most of the other books in the Fate of the Fallen world, unless indicated otherwise, are set approximately 10 years following the Fate of the Fallen series, Tamed and Trained Trilogy, Need Trilogy, Spoiled and Anticipation, Asymmetry, and Gifts. Daddy and Day Zero can be read independently and have no spoilers.

About the author

R. Phoenix

R. Phoenix has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes that love can corrupt and power can redeem. Her muse is a sadomasochistic slave driver who thinks it's terribly amusing to give her the best ideas when she just got comfortable and warm in bed, and she passes on that torture to her readers. She also tries entirely too hard to be funny, and she mercilessly inflicts her terrible sense of humor upon anyone who speaks to her. She'd love it if you'd say hello!

Wow this was fantastic! I love this world and I’m happy we got a new story in it, especially a story about the early days. It was really interesting and I just loved Darius. I found the way his mind worked very intriguing. The book was also very very steamy and I appreciated Elias’ cameo. I would love to read more about Darius and Rowan.

I loved it. I loved everything about it. I loved it was short but it still gave enough time to make us know the characters and fall in love with them. Both main characters were fantastic. I liked better Rowan, but that might be because I have a soft spot for guys with bratty attitude like him, but both of them are equaly good. The world the story was set on is one that I already know and love, but it is written in a way that can work as a stand alone.
As for the Daddy kink, it isn't really my thing, but I still manage to love it regardless of my thoughts about it. It isn't too heavy on the subject, which make it a perfect read for people who is curious about it. It does go on the darker side, but there isn't really too much angst.
Absolutely recomended.

Only for fans

This is obviously a couple from another book of this author. Maybe in the other books these two characters like each other but in this book the boy really dislikes the Daddy and the Daddy Boy relationship is forced on the boy who has no real desire to be a boy or be with the daddy. It feels wrong and disturbing in its one sidedness. I can’t recommend this story to anyone who likes Daddy Kink, but readers who know the main book these characters come from may enjoy the read.

One more short story to add to the Fate of the Fallen World. Short but great as always. Let's hope they keep coming.

DNF @ 60%.

Rowan is annoying. Darius is annoying. Daddy kink already isn’t my cuppa, so if I’m not into the characters on top of that, there’s nothing to stick around for imo.

ETA: Please don’t miss out on the expanded version of this if you read the short when it was first given away!

The expanded version gives more to the story. What happens next? Is there hope in this fallen world? How can Darius give Rowan even a smidge of hope? As always, R. Phoenix delivers us a hauntingly beautiful story about characters that are in an impossible situation and how they are going to cope with it.

Darius is missing on his last boy and is looking for a new one. Rowan is on the run after his world was turned upside down. Darius is the perfect answer to Rowan's need for protection, but he doesn't want the help.

These two are irresistible and oh so adorable together. Rowan is a brat and Darius is learning to like it. There is light daddy kink. There were times both Darius and Rowan made me laugh out loud! I just love their dynamic together.

❤ A great start as a brave Rowan meets Darius a vampire who's threatens his life. Enemies to lovers, a deal to be made, a new Boy for Rowan.
Rowan chooses the lesser or two evils but at least hed be alive. Although Rowan doesnt make it easy to live with him either..defiantly got a bit of sass..
The story progresses and there's and element of danger in the air.. This is the prequel for the start of the series, although I've read most of the books after this one. Another book full of feels for the characters as the author always writes. I loved it.

Rowan was a witch on the run into hidding amongst the vampires killing.
Darius was a vampire and fire he did not like.

A wonderful character study of two incredibly strong individuals negotiating their relationship. Their entire world is being upended and they need each other for reasons both emotional and physical (for literal survival) but it isn't easy figuring out how to be together. I loved watching the balance of power shift around and there are just enough hints of the darkness about to descend to entice a reader who enjoys apocalyptic fiction to continue to explore the series this is a prequel to.

I really liked this short but something was missing for me. And for once it wasn't the length, that was fine and dandy with me. Maybe if this had more daddy kink and less of the parents? Just a thought. Either way, this is nowhere near as dark as the original series and a fair introduction to the world.

Quite a nice convoluted introduction to a series - featuring Darius, a vampire assassin, Rowan, a witch, and a bit of "Daddy" naming :)
