Three Christmas Books to enjoy. The first is: Jingle Bells and Deadly Smells It’s Christmas time and Meghan and Jake are on the case when she comes upon a dead body at the door of her favorite restaurant. Not only is there a murder, but her parents arrived for a surprise visit. Could murdered the homeless man and why? There is so much going on. Will Meghan survive? There were twists and turns and I didn’t identify the murderer till the end. This is a great addition to the series and I look forward to the next book.
The second book is: Queen Tarts and a Christmas Nightmare This book was a quick read with good characters. Well edited. Lots of twists and turns mystery. I enjoyed this book and will read more of this series as I am truly addicted. I loved reading about the adventures of Meghan and Jack and found that I was unable to put the book down, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I am now looking out for the next book in the series and waiting to read it. Highly recommend reading all of Amber's books.
The third book is: Mistletoe and Deadly Kisses Abby has another great read. The story portrayed sadness, happiness, romance and laughter. What an excellent way to represent the homeless and the positive direction the town came together to help them. The true spirit of Christmas! And, of course, some romance between Warren and Tracy!
This time it is Christmas and everyone is in the holiday spirit or so you think. Not everyone is celebrating when one of their own is murdered. Although he was a jerk, he didn’t deserve to die. His wife loved him so much she was clueless about the things he was involved in that she couldn’t comprehend that he was not only cheating on her but was acting nefariously.
Additionally, there's an increase of the homeless visiting their town. One person, in particular, is following Tracy after she left the store. She was upset about this and was worried that he was stalking her, when in fact, he was looking for a handout. Her heart went out to him. Although it proved innocent, she couldn’t stop worrying. In comes the Pastor. Tracy meets with him to discuss what occurred. He said there are homeless people in town seeking temporary shelter and a bite to eat. They mean no harm. Wanting to help the homeless, the town people discuss ways to assist them. Without giving too many details about the story, let’s say the town pulled together and had a fantastic solution to help the homeless and showed the real mean of Christmas.
It is refreshing to see the homeless and town folk reflected in a positive way! The story was so interesting, I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t figure out who the murderer was. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Highly recommend this book and the series.
What a great combination of novels to put into a box set. I listen to this series with a gift of audible from the author. I am writing a completely honest review. That said let’s get on with the review. The boxset contains three novels.
The first is Jingle Bells and Deadly Smells It is Christmas time and Meghan and Jake are on a case. Meghan’s show up for a surprise visit, and a dead body shows up on the door step. Show much to figure out before the holiday. An exciting novel one you won’t want to put down. I am already jumping at the bit to read the next one.
The second is the second book is Queen Tarts and a Christmas Nightmare This novel also stars Meghan and Jack. Once again, they are solving a mystery. The author has them running in a variety of different directions as they try to solve the murder. Again, the author has me hooked
The third book is Mistletoe and Deadly Kisses This novel focuses on reaching out to help the homeless. It is Christmas time and there are many more homeless seeking help than usual. The story tells a deeper side of the homesless story and the reader senses their despair, their sadness, happiness and true joy. A read you will not want to miss.
I really enjoyed this boxset, and was very impressed with the narrator. The oral express of the novels was right on and brought the stories close to my heart. I would highly recommend this boxset, and the audible version is wonderful.
Two stories from the Sandy Bay series and one from Fern Grove. I love both series and what a great way to get them all together!
Jingle Bells and Deadly Smells - Meghan’s parents come to town for a surprise visit, what could possible go wrong? Who murdered the homeless man? Will Meghan's parents accept Jack? Lots going on in a quick, satisfying read.
Queen Tarts and a Christmas Nightmare - Just when Meghan is ready to spend her holiday season with Jack by her side, all heck breaks loose. Her mother texts her that her father is very sick and that she must get to Texas right away. Friends that are more enemies, two murders, her father tossed in jail, and nothing she has done in her life suits her mother.
Mistletoe and Deadly Kisses - The town has come together to try to address the homeless situation and find shelter for those in need during the Christmas holidays. Tracy and her gang decide to gather donations by letting people kiss under the mistletoe. A novel idea until one womanizer takes things too far. Can Tracy find the murderer before he/she strikes again? Will she have her own chance under the mistletoe? A good mystery, a little romance, and a lot of fun to read.
Jingle Bells and Deadly Smells (Sandy Bay Cozy Mystery Book 10). Well-written & enjoyable. Another cute, clean cozy mystery. I really enjoy the development of the supporting characters over the course of the series
Queen Tarts and a Christmas Nightmare (Sandy Bay Cozy Mystery Book 17), my eighteenth read from author Amber Crewes. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Elena Marino who has become the voice for Meghan Truman. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author
Mistletoe and Deadly Kisses (Fern Grove #4), my second read from author Abby Reede. Well-written & enjoyable. Another cute, clean cozy mystery with well-developed characters and detailed settings. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author when I get them. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Audiobook: I was entertained by the four cozy mysteries which took place around Christmas time which comprised this box set. The first two mysteries featured characters from Sandy Bay and the last two mysteries featured characters from Ferne Grove. I liked trying to solve the mysteries. I was pleased with the touch of romance and the lack of offensive language. I admired the underlying theme of concern for the welfare of others which flowed in the stories. I enjoyed Elena Marino's narration as her performance was engaging. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
I only read the 1st book of 6. Title was Queen of Tarts and It didn't jive with me. Rich daddy and mommy visit and decide to buy a multi-million huge house so that could visit more often. Sheesh! Not only that, I don't believe the bakery ever had a paying customer which was a good thing because the only baking that went on was for personal consumption. And during Christmas, at that! Not going to finish the series.
This series is definitely off to a great start. All three stories were enjoyable and kept you reading . Looking forward to more of the same type stories from this Arthur.
One of the invest things about these books is that they are well written and have coherent plots. If you are old enough to remember Miss Read of Thrush Green you will be delighted by them.
I took a year or so off from cozy mysteries and this was the first one I read after the break. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommended it to other cozy mystery readers! This was a good welcome back gift!
Four great stories from two different people. The first two connect with each other and the last two do also. I will definitely be on the lookout for both series.
It's amazing that someone could be30years old and own business and not know how to speak up for herself. Full disclosure I found the story so unbelievable that I had to stop reading it.
Enjoyed reading the stories but I can't really categorize them as mysteries. There is only a tiny bit of sleuthing included these are more romance tales.
