Chapters 0-32 on webtoon
Alright, so I have caught up on this webtoon and will update as I continue reading.
So far, I love the reincarnation/re-do of life that went horribly wrong. I'm glad that she is using this life for good and also as therapy essentially. Her to-do list includes goals on how to live a good honest life.
Her circumstances are depressing, but the people surrounding her are healing her little by little and it's so endearing.

5* fantastic writing! I am still quite on the edge with the ML reveal on the LEGIT LAST CHAPTER. But hey I’m not as mad as I thought I would be with it. Dorothea is trying her best to heal from her scars of the past by atoning and making amends. She has done a fantastic job of it honestly. I’m rooting for her relationship with her brother to get better and more stable in the coming season. I’m excited to see what will happen next 🥹.

Dorothea has so much more chemistry with Ethan than Theon. Their similarities, their wicked hearts. Both are unwanted and abandon. Both are too pretty for the world. They understand each other without the need to explain.
Ethan was the villain just like Dorothea in her previous life and one of the main reasons of her death.
However if Ethan improves himself and choose love over power than he’s much better choice for Dorothea.
During Dorothea last death, Ethan was tormented and kept asking Dorothea to choose him over death.
Plus he has always been there for her.
Unlike Theon who loved Julia in his previous life and even in the new life, Julia is always there with Theon. Plus there isn’t much chemistry between Dorothea and Theon. They were married and Theon was never there for her. What’s the point of him being there in her life? Their love was one sided from Dorothea. She loved him too much without knowing him even lifting a finger.
She fell in love with him because he called her ‘my partner’ and stood up for her in front of other nobles.
Since he was the first person to stood for her in her previous life that’s why she cling to him. That’s not true love.
I’m happy she finally let go.

this is a review of season 1 (chapters 1-60) of the webtoon adaptation, available on naver webtoon.
so! i normally would not review webtoons, but this one is my absolute favorite so i'm making an exception.
first off - i read a LOT of webtoons (and light novels too). i've been reading them for years and years, and in recent years, one of my guilty pleasures has been reincarnated villainess/otome isekai/romance fantasy genre. (i'm not sure what the exact name of this genre is, but if you know you know. 👀) i've read a lot of reincarnated villainess fics and to be honest... they are guilty pleasures for a reason. they're usually fairly predictable and stick to a handful of common romance fantasy tropes. at best, they're lighthearted escapism. (it's not like you really read these for the plot, you know?) at worst, they are straight up misogynistic and can promote unhealthy relationship dynamics. i've read a lot of these and most of them blend into each other, but the tyrant wants to live honestly is a webtoon that has really stood out to me.
the tyrant wants to live honestly is the story of dorothea millanaire and her attempt at redemption after living as a tyrant in her past life. the webtoon doesn't shy away from violence and showing how mentally unstable and villainous she was in her past life - yet she's well written so that you can't help but to sympathize with her and root for her redemption. that said, a complex, well developed female lead in a reincarnated villainess fic is not unusual. i know i was kind of roasting the genre earlier, but one thing i feel like the genre almost always gets right is the female lead. the genre really has a knack for writing female leads that are easy to love and root for. and dorothea herself does fall into a lot of very common reincarnated villainess tropes (eg, abusive childhood). where this webtoon really distinguishes itself is with its male lead - ethan bronte.
ethan is simply a fascinating character, and for a lot of the webtoon, he's shrouded in a lot of mystery. you have no idea if he's good, if he's bad, if he was bad but he's trying to be good, if he loves dorothea or if he just wants power, if he's going to drag dorothea down with him, etc. honestly, seeing the webtoon comments trying to figure out what the hell was up to him week to week as the chapters were coming out was so much fun. Ethan Bronte you will always be Famous!!
the plot of this is genuinely really good as well. although i love the romance in this, the first season actually doesn't focus very much on romance. first, it sets up the world and the characters. i enjoyed the worldbuilding in this - it was fairly standard for a romance fantasy, but i do like that it took some time to explain a simple magic system and that it made sense. a lot of this season also focuses on dorothea's found family, her relationship with her brother raymond, and her character development in healing from her past and learning how to accept love, which was all just incredibly heartwarming and well done. then there is, of course, a lot of focus on revealing and unraveling dorothea's past.

Read the manhwa version titled “The tyrant wants to be good.” This story is worth 10 stars. 🌟
I’m impressed with how the story was written by the author. The plot was described clearly and was solved appropriately. It gave time for reader to understand the characters and how they developed naturally. I loved it.
I could feel the redemption from the Heroine (Dorothy) and how she really struggled to be kind even she knew nothing about being kind. She was already kind-hearted person but she was neglected by her father, bullied by surrounding, and take advantage of by others in all her life time that made her became tyrant. She was a real tyrant in previous life, I got goosebumps! In this time line, she was blooming with her own charm despite the sadness still lingered around her.
Not only Heroine, I could feel how much Hero (Ethan) loved and sacrificed himself for the Heroine. He was manipulative, cruel, and as bad as the Heroine in previous life. All he did only for her, even he turned the time for meeting her again. He loved her so much yet he didn’t know how to express it better. I quite hated his (shadowing) character at first until the author showed his true nature. He was also trying to be kind in this time line, somehow sometimes in ambiguous way. 😅
The main villain was her father. I hated him so much. I cried for Heroine whenever he hurt her. There was a scene when he was dying and only saying sorry to her without explanation. He was so egoist till the end. And I cried again for her that moment. Thanks to author to give this best ending for that cruel father. He didn’t deserve second chance.
I also loved how the author made the kind characters always became kind in previous and in this time line. One of my favorite is Heroine’s brother (Raymond). I knew he was a bit annoying character when he was a kid and his ignorance hurt her, but I really couldn’t hate him. I could feel how he loved his younger sister sincerely. And when the author showed his true nature, aaah I loved him. He was lack in many ways but he was still best brother for the Heroine. He became the happy farmer in this life. So happy to him.
There were two supporting characters Sir Stefan and Clara that I was thankful for staying, protecting, and loving Heroine. Heroine loved and to be loved as family with them. Sir Stefan offered best adult figure for her, as if her own father.
I loved that both Hero and Heroine got their redemption and best happy ending for themselves. Well, in this time line, all the people found their own right place, time, and partner.

La novela me ha gustado bastante, no me queda claro si es un solo tomo o son varios pero ahora eso no importa mucho. Es un tipo de novela que me gusta leer (regresión en el tiempo) y creo que algo que me gusto demasiado es que Dorothea desde su primera vida fue muy inteligente, solo que no hacía cosas que la hacian ver bien jaja. Una cosa que me harto demasiado es como Dorothea no superaba a Theo, una parte de mi lo entendía pero otra parte ya estaba harta de eso. Ethan me ha gustado mucho pero estoy segura que si toda la novela hubiera sido desde la perspectiva de él muy seguramente hubiera querido que supere a Dorothea. Hay que ser sinceros, el "amor/obsesión" de Dorothea por Theo es el mismo que el de Ethan por Dorothea, solo que como ella es la protagonistas vemos bien que se quedará con Ethan (?
Pero quitando eso la novela la he disfrutado mucho y fue una buena historia, claramente no es de mis favoritas pero tampoco es mala. El tipo de final que tuvo no es algo que por lo general ame (dónde se ven casados y con hijos) pero sorprendentemente en esta historia me ha gustado mucho, me apachurro mi corazoncito, supongo que por todo lo que pasó Dorothea con su padre verla con una familia feliz se me hizo realmente lindo.
En cuanto a Ray tengo muchos sentimientos encontrados, es claro que ama a Dorothea y creo que sí el recordara su vida pasada le perdonaría todo, supongo que es lindo pero también se me hace muy triste porque Dorothea siempre lo ignoraba y en un punto realmente lo odiaba... No sé cómo describirlo, me gusta Ray pero creo que mereciamos saber más cosas de el, supongo que al final fue feliz pero eso no fue suficiente para mí jaja
Para no hacer más largo todo solo diré que a Carnan al final no lo odie, hizo cosas horribles con Dorothea pero luego se dió cuenta del mal que estaba haciendo (demasiado tarde), eso hizo que mi odio disminuyera pero tampoco para perdonar lo que hizo, creo que me siento igual que Dorothea en ese aspecto. Y Theo... La verdad es un personaje que da igual, no tenga nada que decir de él jaja

i enjoy the characters! i enjoy the found family trope being utilized ♡
learned that theon isn't the main lead and crashed out. ethan is interesting and i love his character, i do, but i just got attached to the premise of "first and last love in another life" that was in theon's arc and i thought it was a shame that they still look like it was requited in the past life
i would have enjoyed theon and julia falling in love for real. i would have enjoyed more exploration with a relationship as flawed and heavy as theirs, but... to make it requited? it takes the fun out of things
it's just a matter of preference for me, i think. i felt the same about the second lead in another of the lifetimes in this marriage will fail anyway. why are manhwa authors unable to write a real unrequited love for the main protagonist?

I really enjoyed this Manhwa. The main character was very real and her pain was written so well. The writers made it so that her pain was evident in every chapter. My heart hurt from reading this story I felt so bad for everyone in the story. The king hurt so many people and I like that he didn’t really get a redemption arc. Also the best character was Sir Stefan!! He was the ultimate father figure! I loved every chapter he was in. My heart literally melted when he found out how much Dorothea wanted to die and he immediately picked her up and hugged her. He was the only one that saw her for what she was, just a little girl that needed to be loved. My only criticism is that there were two or three chapters I needed to skip because it got too spicy. So not a fan of that. But other than that I love this book so much!

Clara and Stefan are the BEST and I hope they get a happily ever after, because they're such precious people. Raymond is also such a cutie pie and I love that he loves Dorothea in a non-weird sibling kind of way. I hope one day he gets to live out his farmer dream.

Início da história é absurda de bom mas conforme vai chegando no final piora muito, o ethan no início é apaixonante, protagonista tem carisma e toda a trama é sufocante e triste mas assim que os protagonistas começam a realmente ser um casal a novel não decai ela despenca, toda a química deles acaba e eu não aguentava mais nenhum dos personagens todos perderam o carisma e brilho, muito potencial desperdiçado junto com meu tempo.

Realmente me gusto. No esperaba mucho de la lectura, pero mientras avanzaba quería saber cómo seguía la lectura y me atrapo por completo. La evolución de Dorothea y los miedos que siente por su pasado me encantaron, fue un gran personaje. Por otro lado, el ML fue todo lo que está bien en el mundo.

Apart from her being amazing at delivering angst and his brother being too much of a idiot, I dislike this.
The ML is the kind of guy that you dont know if he is good, bad or just an obsessive jerk. He seems to be too good to be true and he acts in a way that I wave Red Flags.
Second Male lead is weird and evil but like tasteless.
The story itself, complete lack of interest. Sorry.

Terminé el webtoon y me gustó bastante. Aunque si admito que tuve que dejarlo en pasua un tiempo mientras me hacia a la idea de que la protagonista ni iba a acabar con el interés amoroso que yo quería.
Sin embargo, la espera valió la pena, porque con la persona que ella acaba, es la persona que debió ser desde un principio.
Una historia con un final muy bonito.

I’m a sucker for beautiful art. Todo bello, la historia some pareció muy buena lo único es que la protagonista la mayoría de la serie estaba de “soy muy mala, no lo puedo hacer” bla bla bla, pero del resto me gustó mucho, el desarrollo de personaje fue muy bueno. Y me gustó que acá la desarrollo más poder haya sido la mujer y no el hombre 🤌🏻

Ahh es tan buena la forma en la que escribe el autor o la autora, sentí la desesperación de la prota por no volver a cometer los mismos errores, me gusto la trama y la bonita relación que empezaron a forma con Ethan, en fin ame.
