About the Author - written from the point-of-view of his 15-year old daughter (that's me! :)

Some say that M. Sasinowski writes until 4 am... fueled by a single cup of decaf coffee. Others say this Polish-born American hyper-nerd absorbs energy from late-night TV space shows. No matter the truth... he's my dad. He will never be cool.

He loves archaeology, Star Wars/Trek, martial arts (especially women who kick butt), and impromptu father/daughter (that's me! :) science debates or music jam-sessions. He's kind of smart, I suppose (he has a physics PhD, and an MD, or whatever) and likes to build computers for fun.

His teenage daughter (that's me! :) is occasionally a handful to deal with and also served as the inspiration for the main character in his debut young adult novel Heir of Ra.

You may recognize him from his glorious hair or his tendency to do the "vacuum cleaner" dance to embarrass his daughter (that's me... :(.

If you ever see this man, approach with care and greet him in a language he understands, like in Klingon or, better yet, in Wookie.

Guurrghghgh!

My rating 4.6

The second part of the series Daughter of Ra (Blood of Ra # 2) by M. Sasinowski is like the first part filled with adventure, action, secrets, and mystery. The writer upgrades his characters, the plot shifts from continent to continent and it is interesting to follow because the plot itself is well designed, and the story draws us to read it. Although this is a YA book, it is also interesting for other readers, especially since this book reveals the hidden secrets that the main character will reveal during the story itself. Now a little about the story: Although Alyssa thought it was all over after saving the world from disaster she would soon discover that was not true. Alyssa will fall into a whirlwind of events that will change her life, but even though she is not aware of it, new enemies will soon attack her, following her every step. These enemies are not afraid of anything to achieve their goals, and Alyssa will have to save her life. Although she is unaware of the situation, she will soon find herself in a war that has been going on for millennia. This is a great sequel and readers who have read the first book will surely enjoy this one because the events in the book simply draw you to read it. I would recommend it to YA readers lovers of mythology, science fiction, action, and adventure.

How often do you read a sequel and it lives up to your expectations after reading the first one? Not many times. But let me tell you, that is not the case here. This book is just as good if not better than the first (and the first book was awesome.) In fact, this is just a good book in its own right. It's my kind of story: fast-paced, a mix of history and mythological, action-packed, helicopters, fast cars, "superpowers", mystery, and boats!

I read this book SO quickly, almost in one sitting. It's so imaginative and description and you truly get lost in this world. What more can you ask for from a book? 5/5 stars!

The adventure continues

Alyssa Morgan is back. I fell in love with this spunky heroine and was delighted with her in this thrilling adventure. Sasinowski has crafted another engaging tale filled with action and adventure interwoven with Egyptian mythology that will leave you wanting more.

"The Daughter of Ra" is the second book in the "Blood of Ra" series and I truly hope that it would not be the last one. Here the adventures of Alyssa continues to entertain and interest us. After reading the "Heir of Ra", the first book in the story and liking it a lot, I am happy to state that the second book did not disappoint. The story was again fast-paced and full of action. There was just enough mystery and drama, just enough fiction and realism, to make the book as outstanding as the first one.

I can't wait to read the next one!

Review 4.5 rounded up to 5*

This story is the second book in the Blood of Ra trilogy. I loved it!

Alyssa Morgan is an interesting character. I love her take no prisoners attitude, but she also can be a little reckless. Alyssa is a mature seventeen-year-old, but also is incredibly impulsive at times. She works with her archaeologist father and professor, Kade Morgan. After the events that happen in the first book, Alyssa finds herself troubled by visions from the historical past. As she tries to unravel the puzzle of the secrets in her blood, Alyssa faces danger once more. Determined to put a stop to the Society (a group of people who loathe the hybrids), Alyssa, as well as her boyfriend Paul, will come face to face with old and new enemies, as well as make new friends.

Heir of Ra (the first book in the series) took the reader on a fantastic roller coaster ride from beginning to end. This book, I felt, lacked the punch of the first one. However, this doesn't mean that it wasn't exciting. On the contrary, it was but in a different way. Alyssa is still trying to make sense of her new reality, and it was a pleasure going on the journey with her. As I said in my review of Heir of Ra, 'I love a good YA thriller/mystery, and this book has it in spades. I began to read it, and the action starts immediately and doesn't let you go until the last sentence. I love myths and legends, especially Egyptian folklore about their gods and goddesses, stories about Atlantis, and even alien origin theories, and this story has a fantastic mix of all these things.'

It all still applies to this book. However, as I mentioned, this book lacked an indefinable something. I can't put my finger on what it is that's bugging me about it, and it's making me a little crazy. Maybe its got something to do with the mysterious woman from the first book? With her identity revealed in this one, I think some of the mystery has gone for me, and it's left me feeling a little flat. Or it could be that it felt a little rushed. However, it was a pleasure to meet Paul and Clay once more, though. Lord George Renley and his daughter, Tasha, also play an essential role. And new characters are introduced as the story unfolds. Daughter of Ra is an exciting addition to the Blood of Ra series, it will be interesting to see how things evolve in the third and final book. I can't wait!

When I reached the end of the book (which finishes on a small cliffhanger), I felt a mixture of emotions - sad that the book ended mostly, but happy that there's another book to come.

M. Sasinowski is a debut author. As Heir of Ra was his first book, I think this author is one to watch. I love his fast-paced writing style. His characters come to life on the page, and I can picture the scenes in my mind's eye with ease. I also love the story flow, which runs smoothly from scene to scene. I am considering adding him to my favourite author's list.

Although there are no scenes of a sexual nature, there is some violence, so I feel that parental guidance may be required. I highly recommend this book (and series) to teens and adults alike who love YA science fiction, fantasy, action, adventure, thrillers, mysteries, mythology, and romance genres. - Lynn Worton

Maciek Sasinowski – Blood of Ra Bk 2 – Daughter of Ra – Reviewed 10/18/20 – Read 10/17-18/20

Struggling to stay in the here and now, Alyssa is blinded by the past!

As time goes by Alyssa is having more and more visions, and of course, they are sometimes at the most inopportune times. She is struggling to understand them but to also stay engaged in the present. Knowing that the answers lie in a secret world that only her can see, she continues to seek the knowledge that will give her the answers that she searches for regarding her mother and the World of Ra.

Paul joins her in her search and together they face some of the old enemies that they have fought in the past. They have figured out that the Society has a central meeting place, and they need to get access to it.

And the story begins…

What did I like? This series has been remarkably interesting! I have especially liked the central story plot. Wow, a world that no one can see, and all because Alyssa was infected by the blood of an ancient world. I have always thought that the younger generation was more attuned to the past than what we, the older generation, give them credit for. If this book were true, can you imagine what the world would be like? Another thing that I like is the involvement that Maciek has given to his own daughter. It is not often that this happens. She seems like a highly intelligent young woman, that genuinely believes in her dad. That is so inspiring to me.

What will you like? Well, if you were looking for action, mystery, excitement, and an enthralling storyline, then you have come to the right book. This book has all of them with a capital letter. It is extremely beautifully written and edited with exciting and captivating characters. The plot will lead you on a journey that you will need to clear your schedule for, as you will not be able to put it down. The characters are beyond captivating, they are exciting, engaging, believable, and downright awesome. The storyline is thought-provoking, with the mystery and action getting your attention from the first page on. There is just a little bit of everything included history, romance, fantasy, and mystery. Everything you could want in a marvelous read.

‘The memories will reveal themselves to you in time – with decades of meditation…’

Polish-born Virginia author Maciek Sasinowski thundered onto the literary scene with HEIR OF RA one of the best conceived and executed fantasy adventures that, while directed toward the Young Adult audience, adult readers with an appreciation for his mixture of mythology, science, and adventure will find it makes a fine impact. Now he continues that impact with DAUGHTER OF RA, and he just gets better! Of note, Maciek’s humor, liberally sprinkled throughout his books, is suggested by his daughter’s biographical summary: PhD in physics AND an MD (!) with a keen interest in archeology, martial arts and music.

DAUGHTER OF RA is Book Two of the series Blood Of Ra, and a fine second installment this is. The adventure opens with tense moment in Giza where Horus, son of Isis and Osiris, fights with aggressors, ultimately slaughtering them but not until his wife Hathor is stricken – a blood-curdling opening for this fast paced novel. Alyssa Morgan remains the key character in this tale that spreads across the globe and time from Egypt to Hungary to Washington DC to Nepal and Hong Kong, and the degree of tension never diminishes. Just as with Alyssa’s perplexing problem of searching for that line that separates her memories or delusions from the past with the harsh realities of the present, the continuing saga conjoins myth and reality as Alyssa explores the ongoing mystery of her mother’s disappearance and the other aspects of her ancestral beginnings. The fumes of mythology fill the atmosphere as this book moves at an unbelievably rapid pace to an ending that begs for Book Three!

Probably too frequently YA fantasy books are described as must read/un-put-down-able, but in the case of this novel the description is a tight fit. Maciek Sasinowski has produced a book that ably combines contemporary characters admixed with gods and mythology and science and genetics and keen adventure – a series we can only hope will be continued. Very highly recommended – for all audiences!

5 STAR REVIEW

Another outstanding book by Maciek Sasinowski. Daughter of Ra, which is book two in the Trilogy of Blood of Ra, does not disappoint. Like the first book, I was proven wrong when I tried to guess what happens next. It went beyond my expectations.

Honestly, I thought the book was going to be all about Alyssa Morgan travelling to follow leads on the Society, but the story took a 360-degree turn. Be warned the story ends on a cliffhanger, but there's nothing like a good cliffhanger to keep a reader wanting more.
New characters are introduced, I absolutely love them. They play such an important role in Alyssa's journey. Paul and Clay are still by Alyssa's side in this instalment, but her father takes a break. All the focus is on Alyssa, and believe me as you read you will be astonished. A big revealing takes place which changed everything, life as Alyssa knew it. A new friendship blossoms between Alyssa and Tasha and they become partners, I liked this duo.

What I like about this book is the character development, each character evolves. They don't stagnate, they grow stronger in certain aspects and learn to reach beyond their limits. They push past boundaries and break through to become the best they can be. Maciek Sasinowski has the ability to create characters that stays with the reader even after finishing the story.

This is a must read!! Even though the story doesn't take place in Egypt this time, you'll still be taken on an adventure!

Thank you Maciek Sasinowski for the opportunity to review your amazing book.

Alyssa's blood had saved the world. With no known cure, the Horus Plague would have spread unchecked decimating the Earth. The only survivors being hybrids like Alyssa herself.

And so, she returned to her life.

Unfortunately, there are those who were not happy with that outcome and they would stop at nothing to see a new world where THEY were the rulers...and yes, GODS...of those who remained. And so, Alyssa, along with Paul and Clay, must once again fight to save humanity. But they know that they can't do it by themselves, so that means making new friends of once enemies and placing trust where it could easily turn to betrayal in an effort to put an end to the threat. A threat that isn't simply one of man-made means, but has the will and strength of a God behind it.

Maciek Sasinowski gives us the 2nd book in the Blood of Ra series and there is no sophomore jinx here as this sequel to the first story, HEIR OF RA, takes the exciting action and premise of that adventure and scales it up to a 15 out of 10 for excitement and story-telling. Sasinowski crafts his story well and has his characters down pat as he keeps them true to their original personalities while growing them into the stronger figures that they need to be to face the new threat. Sasinowski's use of interwoven flashback's...or may be flash sideways...in some cases... helps blend the past and the present together, making a standard story trope into an interesting and fun journey.

New readers...While the author gives a fair amount of background information in the story that will fill in the blanks and the references so that this book can be read as a stand alone, there is enough depth and substance in both books that it would even more excitement to go back after reading this adventure and dive into the first.

On to Book 3...LEGACY OF RA...

Looking for a fast-paced, roller-coaster ride that is action-packed with more twists than an Indiana Jones movie? Then pick up Daughter of Ra, second book in the Blood of Ra trilogy by M. Sasinowski.

The author fills this 300-page tome with his skillful blending of action, mythology, ancient civilizations, and scientific manipulation as he continues the story of 16-year-old Alyssa Morgan. In Daughter of Ra, Alyssa sets out initially to find her mother who she’s been told is dead; new clues lead to the contrary. Along the way she loses her sidekick Paul (a smart young British chap who’s smitten with her) and the mercenary-like Tasha (Russian-born adopted daughter of mentor Lord George Renley). All three are rescued by a squad of Hybrids (an ancient civilization). Alyssa and friends are taken to a safe-house where Alyssa meets her real father. They are set for a reunion when her father’s evil sister, who had captured Alyssa et al, thunder upon the scene. An age-old feud rages with Alyssa caught in the middle.

Who will win this war? Will Alyssa take on the mantle of responsibility she’s inherited? Will her father survive or will she find a new adversary in her half-brother? With Paul and Tasha once again in the clutches of the evil sister, can Alyssa mount a rescue in time? Will she finally admit to loving Paul?

The action moves from Budapest to England to Nepal to Hong Kong and the South China Sea. Each scene sets up the next seamlessly. I finished reading this book in less than five days and hated every interruption to my reading. Originally written as Young Adult, this entire series if perfect for adults too. Far surpasses Ian Fleming’s (James Bond) writings.

This sequel to Heir of Ra is equally as exciting as the previous book. Again it starts off running and doesn't stop until the very end. Again it is (best I can remember) very clean. No reason to not let your kids read it other than it is violent. But I'd say teens and preteens should have no problem reading it. People do die. But I don't recall any foul language nor is there any sexual scenes some parents (like me) might wish to avoid. And that might be a disappointment to some readers as many would probably like to see Alyssa and Paul "get together."
But it's great fun. I didn't like this one quite as much as the last but given that I really loved the first book this was still great. And I can't think of a single bad thing to say about it. I can't wait for the next. I could summarize the story for you but what good is that? You can read it above. And I don't want to give anything away. So who is Tasha? Really? Am I just seeing something that isn't there or is she more than she appears? What about Paul? We still don't know a thing about either of them. And now I'm gripping to figure out Alyssa's mom. I sure hope the last book, what ever number that might be, will wrap it all up. But right now, it just has me asking so many questions. Enjoy!

When will I learn? Back on Dec. 9th I decided to start Heir of Ra and well since it was under 300 pages I knew I could read it pretty quickly. Well, that turned into me staying up until the wee hours of the morning to not only read that one but this one and yep you guessed it the other one to Legacy of Ra! So I am now finished and I have to say that I was blown away!! This book was another fast paced epic story with the cast we have come to love in book one!! Alyssa is back and on the hunt to find out about her missing mom and more! This one had the feel of Tomb Raider even more with a supernatural twist. And I loved every page!!

The romance in this one with Paul was a little more than the first book and I was so happy about it!! Alyssa and Paul have come so far and I am excited that they finally really got together. It made my little heart happy!! This was one epic blend of mythology, science fiction and more!! This one ended on a cliffhanger and I am so glad that I had book three on hand!! Or ya I would be so sobbing right now.

Spectacular Sequel!!! And if you think you know what's coming you don't!!

If there was ever a book series that kept me reading to the point of not being able to stop this one is it. I devoured book 1 and waited, impatiently i might add, for book 2 because I had to know what happened next.

There were times in this book that had me gasping and hoping things somehow worked out in the end. The author has mastered keeping you sucked in and full of suspense and emotions needing to know what happens next. The balance of all aspects is perfect. I enjoyed the suspense, thrill, fact tidbits, love in all forms, and just the wonderful plot.

We still follow Paul, Alyssa, and Clay but in different areas from before. There are times of smile, love, fear, and anxiety throughout their story. As you follow them you get some answers and get even more questions. Then the author gives you a cliffhanger of all cliffhangers that will leave you with your jaw dropped and wanting to beg him for the next book! This series has became one of my favorites of all time and i cant wait to continue on with their story.

I loved this book!

The author wouldn't know it, but several things about this book called to me! First, the heroine is named Alyssa, which happens to be my youngest daughter's name. Second, I have a love of Egyptian history and archeology. And third, I love reading fictional accounts of what Atlantis might have been like! This is the second book in the series and I definitely recommend that you read them in order. The story continues in this book where the first one left off. Alyssa has saved her father from the "curse" virus that was originally used as a weapon. Her blood saved her and those afflicted. Now she must come to grips with changes brought about by that virus and discover who she is. Could her missing mother have been a hybrid? Just how is she connected to the ancient people of Atlantis? It's non-stop action and adventure from beginning to end and will still leave you wanting more. I highly recommend this series!

This was an excellent read. I think I enjoyed it more than the first book. The story continues and our heroes have a fantastic adventure. I took forever to finish this book because I had some issues with devices but I'm glad that I finally got through it. The story starts with a simple adventure that grows into an epic tale. I love the way the characters have been further developed and interact seamlessly with the new ones. We get to meet Ra in a modern iteration and the world changes. I'm now looking forward to reading the third book to see where it all ends up. I also have the prequel to read. I was given this book by the author and asked to read it and give an unbiased review. This is wonderful series for any fan of YA fantasy. It's also worth reading to the end to read what the authors daughter has to say about them and their writing.

Daughter of Ra (Bool of Ra Book Two( by M. Sasinowski

I loved "Heir of Ra."

Mr. Sasinowski is excellent at creating believable, live characters. Characters I cared about, and he does so beautifully building suspense. I felt this book could be a wonderful Hollywood movie.

Now comes the second installment. Narrated from the third person point of view, we follow Alyssa (Ally) Sarah Morgan, Paul Matthews, and a few new characters in what is a very well written and enjoyable book. I read it in a day.

My only concern is that this book is not a stand-alone book. You MUST read the Heir of Ra before you read this volume and be prepared for the fact that the book is nothing more than a set up for the next volume. I still would recommend it highly!

Action-packed

Saying just the words action-packed would be putting it lightly. Get ready, set, go. The continuing story of Alyssa Morgan by M. Sasinowski doesn't disappoint. Picking up shortly after the events that unfolded in the end of the first book, Alyssa is off and running from the very start with no indication of slowing down. Searching for answers, Alyssa finds herself being drawn further into a world that only months ago she knew nothing about. One that leaves her with far more questions than answers.

M. Sasinowski has done it again. Daughter of Ra is a wonderfully written continuation of the journey we started with Alyssa a year ago, one full of action, adventure, deception, and hope. If you enjoyed Heir of Ra, you are going to love Daughter of Ra.

After reading the first book in the "Blood of Ra" series, Heir of Ra, I could not wait to see what the next book would be like. When I found out about the release of book two, Daughter of Ra, I was super excited! I was definitely not disappointed.

From almost the beginning, the book kept up a pretty fast pace. I really enjoy the authors writing style. I also like they way he is able to "redeem" some characters. This book also had many exciting twists that definitely shocked me.

If you have read Heir of Ra, you know that the main character, Alyssa, and be a bit reckless, lol. I find in this book she tends to be even more so, but I actually enjoy it a great deal. All in all, this is a great entry in the "Blood of Ra" series, and I cannot wait to read the next book!

The 1st book of this series 'Heir of Ra' had left me awe struck, with me needing a moment before I could shut my hanging jaw. And I thought, this it it. There's no way I could be more impressed than that. But author M. Sasinowski has proven me wrong and I am incredibly happy about that. 'Daughter of Ra' is the perfect sequel to the 1st installment. The character developments are more detailed and the plot twists have been taken up a notch. An amazing blend of sci-fi and Egyptian mythology, the 'Blood of Ra' series is progressing at an exciting pace. I am waiting in anticipation for the next book now.

In this second book of the Blood of Ra trilogy, 16-year-old Alyssa Morgan once again is trying to stop the Society from using a bioweapon to wipe out entire populations. As a descendant of the Egyptian god, Horus, her blood holds the key to providing the cure.

From the beginning, it's a fast-paced, action-packed roller coaster ride. The female characters are all strong, intelligent, and capable–even the villain. Its cinematic nature makes it easy to imagine it as a movie. The cliff hanger ending leaves readers wanting to read more. This well-written story would appeal to Y/A-adult readers who enjoy fast-paced thrillers.

Even better than the first!!

What I loved about the first book also applies to the second book - you can't put it down! I voraciously read through it almost in one sitting. The pace is quick, and there's the same mystery, action, suspense that you had from book one, but now with more depth and a feel for a much bigger story. I'm already re-reading parts of it.

It's nice already knowing the main characters and now seeing them in new situations with a deeper, bigger story. And it's fun to read and escape. I'm really looking forward to the third book in the trilogy!!

The second book is just as good as the first!

Continuing the Blood of Ra series, Daughter of Ra takes Alyssa on a journey of self discovery. While attempting to find her place in a confusing world, she once more gets in the middle of forces of both good and evil.
Without giving any of the plot away, I will say that the adventurous ride is a great journey that is not yet done. I am looking forward to the next book.
I recommend this book for all readers that love a great action story mixed with ancient lore.

Science and mythical fantasy. Interesting premise of Egyptian mythological combined with time-travelling back in time through virtuality reality to Egypt thousands of years ago to set the backdrop to the fantasy. The author used biological science on infectious epidemic to add the scientific elements. Cast of very interesting characters in the story to keep the readers interests. Our heroine,Alyssa, reminds me of a less deadly version of Lara Croft (movie version), whom I have a great fondness of. Alyssa has that additional attraction of being a compassionate person and filial daughter to her archaeologist father.

This fast-paced sequel to the Heir of Ra follows Alyssa’s path to self-discovery. Like the first book, this sequel uses techniques just beyond the reach of modern science to unlock mysteries of advanced ancient civilizations. There are even more narrow escapes and more unexpected twists. But beyond the page-turning suspense and surprise revelations, this is the story of an adventurous, bright, daring young women on an exciting quest to discover herself. The amazing ending of the book sets the stage for exciting discoveries yet to come. I can’t wait to read more!

It’s called “Research” for a reason...

This author seems not to have done even the most basic research. He has ancient Egyptians fighting with steel swords (steel has been found in Anatolian sites dating to 1800 B.C., but Egypt’s pyramid-building dynasties begin much earlier, in The Old Kingdom, ca. 2700 B.C.). He describes Prague Old-Town as having red-“thatched” roofs (they’re red-tiled, as the most basic google search will show). Both of these groaners can be found in just the first dozen pages of this book.

A continuation of book 1

It is funny how everybody wants you to rate the book and give it a valid review however a book like this is it possible to give a valid review because it's not a book. A book stands on its own with a definite beginning and a definite and this did not have a beginning unless you read the first book it doesn't have an ed because of the third book following it therefore in order to do a review you must read all three the weather independent book it cannot be reviewed at all but as one of the three it is a good sequel.
