With the first full blue moon in nineteen years, October 31st is the perfect day for Aleesa to experience a night like never before. She wasn’t quite sure what’d she gotten herself into on Halloween night, but she was surely in for a treat... a few tricks as well. This is an erotic Halloween novelette.
BriAnn Danae is an urban romance author and native of Kansas City, Missouri. In October 2015, she penned her first novel and since has enhanced her catalog claiming seventy titles to date. She whimsically writes Black love stories with purpose and passion, making you want to go beyond the book and look into her mind as a writer.
As the two-time 2021 Black Girls Who Write award winner for Best Black Book Series and Best Black Urban Romance and KCPCA 2023 Best Author of Kansas City, BriAnn has masterfully crafted her pen. With the talent to navigate between genres, she’s captured the hearts of her readers, making them fall hard in love with her characters. Her writing can be classified as soul-snatching, heart-yearning, chest throbbing, and downright some of the most exhilarating literature one could grace their eyes upon.
There’s a message BriAnn strives to leave with her readers. “I don’t just write to tell a story. I write to paint a picture and give a testimony.”
They say be careful what you wish for because, you might just get it and that's exactly what happened with Aleesa. When she flippantly made those wishes, she didn't expect them to actually come true. To her surprise, she got the man and she got the money but only for a short term. Rich was everything Aleesa wanted in a partner but, they couldn't have a relationship because, she didn't specifically wish for one. That's what happens when your wishes don't hold real substance. Trickin' Is A Treat was an okay read but, I was not a fan of that ending. I prefer my books to have HEAs and this one definitely does not end with a HEA. This was my first book by BriAnn Danae and I wasn't that impressed with it but, I'd be open to reading more from her.
I liked that BriAnn stepped into a different lane, but I needed more.
Aleesa had been in some lackluster relationships and she was TIRED. She was looking for a soft life where she was cared for both sexually and financially. Rich came into her life to make her dreams come true. However, she didn't realize that she had put limitations on what they could be, by not being careful with what she wished.
There wasn't any real development between them. The build up was mostly around Aleesa, we didn't get much from Rich nor them together as a couple. I realize it was a short, but I always want time with the couple.
Y'all, this was so good. I'm about to start making wishes on all of my shots so I can find me a man like Rich. For a non HEA ending, this book is still good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
3.25 🌟 Well that was a fun, quick read! I honestly wish the spice was a bit spicier, so this was just okay imo. I do want to know more about Rich and how this wish situationship worked in a little more detail, like as far as who or what he really is.
I'll be reading the follow-up novella in hopes of this storyline being expanded upon even a little bit. Still a fan of BriAnn Danae since reading “Keep You To Myself” and it's cool to see her try her hand in another genre. I know she can write spicier spicy than this though... 😏
Now BriAnn girl you basically said “lemme just stick the tip in.” I need the whole thing ma’am 🥺
Okay so i’m gonna need Aleesa to go back to Jennifer, get a shot and make another wish!!! In that wish I need her to talk to her creator; Ms. BriAnn Danae, and tell her we need a full novel with these two 😩 I want more tricking, more voyeurism, and commitment. Please & Thank You!!!
Aleesa and Rich .. I loved the magical, wish-filled vibe of this book. It ain’t trickin if you got it. I hope to read more of Rich and Aleesa’s story. Do we get more wishes? 🎃👻💙 a reminder to be specific, and careful of what you wish for!
BriAnn delivers a delightfully spooky and playful Halloween short story. All Aleesa wanted was a little Halloween fun — but with a boyfriend who’s more of a buzzkill than a thrill, she decides to make her own kind of night with her cousin.
What are the chances you wander into a liquor store and get invited to make a few wishes over shots? 🍸 One wish leads to another, and soon Aleesa is swept into a spontaneous Halloween party filled with surprises, laughter, and some seriously steamy sparks with Rich 😍
Her wish brings more than she ever expected… but how long will the magic last? Aquick, festive read packed with Halloween vibes, fun, and a touch of spice. 🎃✨
Just too short I need more. BriAnn is one of my fav authors so I knew I was in for a treat or a trick when reading this book. It was as great as expected. Aleesa didn’t wish for much substance but what she did Rich provided ten-fold. And that was more than enough. I enjoyed the Halloween theme and the spice. Hope to see more from these characters in the future. Always excited about what’s next from this author
I love a fun novella. This was my 1st read from the author & I was easily entertained. Halloween party with drugs, alcohol, hallucinations & dreams come true. The conversations between characters were relatable & funny. It took me no time at all to read.
If you are looking for something quick to read for Spooky Season with a sprinkle of spice? This is the novella for you.
Be careful what you wish for… especially on the full moon of Halloween.
Aleesa goes to a store to pick up some pre-party drinks, where she is offered a shot to bring her wildest dreams come true. Aleesa and her cousin get invited to a party. Aleesa meets a man and knows she wants him…
This was a cute short read . I wasn’t sure what to expect I thought Aleesa was definitely hallucinating Rich. I’m glad he as real but sad that it had to end how it did. Definitely have to be specific lol
Aleesa attends a Halloween party, and her Spidey senses started going off when it feels as if someone is reading her thoughts. What's even better is the treat she received after the trick.
This is my first read by @brianndanae, but it certainly won't be my last.
What I enjoyed most about Trickin' Is A Treat is that it went deep and packed a nice punch for a neatly packaged novella.
At its heart this is a story about Aleesa who has decided she wants to go out and have a good time on Halloween. Before doing so they stop in a liquor store and are offered shots and the chance to make three wishes and for Aleesa it sounds like a plan. And then everything changes. While it definitely isn't your typical happily ever after, it doesn't miss. This was my first time reading from this author. I look forward to exploring more of her work.
