If you love Dan Brown’s, Deception Point, Michael Crichton’s, The Andromada Strain; and A.G. Riddle’s, The Atlantis Gene, you will love Expiration Date.

A conspiracy theory no one would have guessed.

The age-old story of man’s arrogance that could change the make-up of human kind as we know it.

Expiration dates have been a part of the human genome for the last hundred years, but this is the first time the death rate of infants has increased by fifty percent in the first week of birth across the globe.

In 2168, Albany NY, devastated over the quick death of her cousin’s baby, Cardiovascular tech, Elisa Quinn is not buying Orbis’s, the global government, reason as "another genetic hiccup". Together she and scientists, Ashlei Quinn and Claude Monark, set out to discover what the real reason is for the deviation and this phenomenon and to try and prevent the unthinkable-these short dates becoming the new norm for everyone. Elisa investigates the long-standing gestational supplement of nutriment injections as potentially having an adverse effect and hence gradually changing the make-up of expiration dates. They also consider whether the recent surge of deaths could be a global conspiracy, another shift in the human genome or something yet unforeseen. While searching, they uncover an extremist group, Restituere, and their intentions to take the human race in a direction that suites their needs.

Unless they can prevent this deadly groups plans, their loved ones will be lost and the human race will be altered forever.

Expiration Date is a unique Dystopian novel. I have read several and found this concept to be original. Imagine a future where each new baby comes with an expiration date. Everyone has one and when they read the date, they die. It's a freaky and morbid idea that works well in this story.

From the beginning, the reader knows who some of the villains are, but the identity of the mastermind is concealed. He is known as Mr. P. A supplement that expectant mothers receive is the reason there is an expiration date. It has been this way for years and is accepted by the populace. When babies start to die within 72 hours after birth, it causes concern, and a select group of medical workers and scientists begin to question its origins and research if it is a naturally occurring phenomenon.

The book is very fast-paced. There is a lot to take in. Once the action starts, it doesn't let up until the conclusion. I enjoyed this novel and found it to be fascinating.

There are a few content warnings. The book contains fade to black intimacy and the use of the "f" bomb.

DNF at ~35-40%

I decided for me there's no point finishing this book. It had an OK premise, which if executed well, could have actually been good. I didn't have any major problems with it yet, other than me having exactly zero interest in the plot and the characters, and also that for me it read like a soap-opera, rather than a book taken seriously.

All in all, if you're really into medical soap-operas and want a very fast read, maybe go for it, in any other case, hell no.

Pay attention while you read this one as there are details to keep track of and a complex puzzle to solve. The author makes the characters real which, in turn, makes the story alarmingly plausible. There are a lot of conspiracy theory books around but this one does not sacrifice dialogue and characterisation for the plot, making it a cut above many others.

This is a seriously freaky story because the bases of the story is so futuristically possible. A futuristic novel that will make you think, this fast paced story draws the reader in with a mix of likeable and despicable characters that you can't wait to find more about. This book kept me turning the pages and when I wasn't I was thinking about it.
Seriously one of the best books I've read in a long time.

A fantastic new twist on a futuristic dystopia, Expiration Date is set in a world that still looks very much like our own, but has long moved past it's population and non-renewable resources problem, as well as the damage that we've caused to the planet. It's moving in an upward direction and back on track to being a healthy world, and it has very slight tech upgrades, such as hover cars and holograms. That being said, it's all thanks to something that changed the entire world as soon as they started showing up, expiration dates on every single human being born in the last century, telling the exact date when a person will die.

Thanks to the publisher for sending me an advance review copy of this book. As a registered nurse I found this book right up in my alley! I worked in the labor and delivery unit for some time, so some of the scenes were extra chilling for me. It’s an immensely enjoyable dystopian thriller with quick pace and an interesting plot. The story is quite thought provoking. What if in a hundred years babies ARE born with expiration date on their bodies? The book was sad and exciting at the same time. I’m glad that I got a chance to read it. Would highly recommend it to all the dystopian fans out there!

This is a book that you can't stop thinking about once you finish it. Expiration Date is set in the future and tells the story of these birthmarks that give the date you die. It follows three main characters that are investigating why certain babies are born with very short dates. For a sci-fi novel it comes across very real and and convincing. It's fast paced but easy to follow and I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend if you're into dystopian fiction!

Trigger warning - there are infant deaths (not in a grotesque way, but infant loss is discussed as a significant part of the plot.)

I loved the concept of this book. Not really a spoiler alert, you learn quickly that the Expiration Dates were not an act of God... rather something the government did to control the population after war, famine, and destruction of the earth. But it's what happens after that that is terrifying! The concept is not too far fetched, especially in a world right now where the government is making so many decisions about what we can and can't do. I enjoyed the concept, the strong female leads, the action. There were some really great fight scenes!

This is a quick read, entertaining, and yet surprisingly deep and emotional in some passages of the book.

If you like dystopian conspiracy and action books, I think you should give this book a chance!

For a debut book, I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to more books from this author.

Thank you to the publisher for an Advanced Review Copy of the book.

Set over one hundred years in the future, the human race is on a collision course for extinction in this dystopian thriller. Resources are depleting at an alarming rate and overpopulation is rampant. Somewhere along line, a mysterious sequence of random numbers started appearing imprinted on newborns. The numbers were their expiration date, marking the predetermined day at which they were set to die. At first, some suspected the strange numbers appeared through divine intervention, aliens, or even just our own evolutionary mutations, but there appears to be something far more sinister afoot. When a rash of premature expiration dates causes the deaths of a cluster of newborns within just days of their births, the entire mystery of the date’s origins begins to unravel and it becomes a race against the clock to stop a eugenic genocide of grand scale proportions.

“Expiration Date” is thrilling from beginning to end. The concept is unique and intriguing and there’s a lot of cool sci-fi tech to immerse you fully into the world of the future. There were some occasionally distracting grammatical mistakes here and there and some plot devices that seemed to only exist to maybe cover up some minor discrepancies in the plot and progress the story, but overall this was an enjoyable read.

This was a unique and interesting concept that I was drawn to right away. It did read like a B rated action film and medical show especially with the way the story unraveled. Not sure if it was the best for a book but could definitely work for a movie.

I didn’t really connect to the characters but the story was pretty good. It is predictable, especially the conclusion and how everything is wrapped up perfectly. It is an entertaining read even if it wasn’t my favorite way to tell a story.

I enjoyed the concept of this novel. It was very Black Mirror-like and does make you think. Will see what the author comes up with next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kat Biggie Press for the opportunity to read this book. All opinions are my own.

This book is actually pretty scary to think about and honestly, is that far fetched? It definitely makes you wonder with this big push to get vaccinated lately, could something like this really happen? I mean, China has done things similar with limiting how many children people could have.

There are a lot of characters and a lot going on, so at times that did make it difficult to follow, but overall it flowed nicely.

If you like medical thrillers (I don’t typically read them, but do enjoy them when I do) then this might be a book you would like and will give you something to think about.

A copy of this book was given to me. All opinions are my own.

Interesting premise and some great twists but this became predictable, even though this was kind of a more original plot. The plot was stagnant and did not go anywhere in throughout most of the book. Glad this was a free book. Cannot say I recommend it, but maybe others in the medical field would enjoy this as a thriller. I did not think this was thrilling.

Thanks to Netgalley, Mardine Perrins and Kat Biggie Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book. The scientific / medical issues were indeed shocking and mind-boggling. But the story itself was rather chaotic and jumbled and I couldn’t really relate to any of the characters. An extra round of editing would have made all the difference.
I received a preview copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing.

This was a quick, fun read. If you like dystopian thrillers, you'll love this book!

The plot was fast-paced and kept me interested. However, there were some major plot holes (I'm not going to share the specific plot holes here to avoid spoilers), and the characters were somewhat underdeveloped.

First and foremost, I am from Albany so I am instantly biased since this book is set in Albany. :) But, really, I found this story riveting and towards the end, I couldn't put the book down because the action got a little intense and I needed to know how this was going to end!

I decided to read this book because I was intrigued by the premise. I really wanted to like it. I was, however, somewhat disappointed. I think it could use a couple more passes with an editors pencil. It got bogged down in places and I really could not connect with any of the characters. I gave it the rating that I did because the writing itself is fairly good. The story just needed a bit more work.

I was provided a copy of this book from the author but any thoughts listed below are my own.
Note: I do not include spoilers.

The book started off alright. I found a some of it confusing .I guess that was because I have no medical background. But I think the idea is interesting and something that would not surprise me as happening on our planet in the future. But hopefully not. I found it a bit sad and actually a little bit scary.

I thought that this was an okay light read.

A little slow to start but the pace picks up later in the story.
