A shattered pack. One lost Alpha. One troubled Omega. Unexpected mates?
Grayson Mills needs a fresh start. He returns to his hometown to keep his pack together, but four violent Alphas can’t form a stable pack. When an Omega baker accidentally runs Grayson over with his bike, his life takes a complete 360-degree turn. Jonah’s spirited and sweet. He’s good for the likes of Grayson. But Grayson knows if he doesn’t pursue Jonah, he’ll regret it for the rest of his life.
Jonah Raine isn’t ready to start a new relationship. He only wants to keep his bakery afloat. Desperate measures pressured him to borrow money from a notorious loan shark Alpha. But now he’s knee-deep in trouble. He can’t drag Grayson and his pack into his mess, but the stubborn Alpha refuses to leave him alone. Jonah doesn’t believe in true mates but Grayson’s determined to change his mind.
A struggling Omega baker meets his grumpy Alpha in Protecting Jonah, a full-length mm mpreg shifter romance. There are no cliffhangers or cheating, and a HEA is guaranteed.
I like Fel Fern and I enjoyed this book. I loved Grayson and Jonah and their coming together was a wonderful story. I had some problems with the subplot involving the crook Guy. It didn’t really make sense that he would keep harassing Jonah when he was paying on time. Still it was a sweet story with a grumpy Alpha and a sweet omega.
Protecting Jonah by Fel Fern was an enjoyable ready. It's pretty short, at around 205 pages, so it's no surpise that I would have liked it to be fleshed out more.
We follow Jonah, an omega whose new bakery had ran into some financial trouble. His ex convinced him to get help from a loan shark. No surpise the shady Guy is causing trouble for now single Jonah.
Grayson is an alpha who has also gone through a rough break up. He's not looking for anything new, but when Jonah crashes into him on his bike (we assume sabotage by the loan shark, but I don't think we ever get clarification) the two have a spark.
Now, if you don't like insta-love you should maybe pass on this. Because Jonah and Grayson's relationship goes crazy fast. I wasn't a fan of how quickly it went, but the low page count almost makes it a necessity. The plot, which is mainly getting Jonah free from the loan shark's harassment, mose similarly fast.
There was some editing issues that took me out of the book; awkward phrases, etc. I listened to this on audio so I don't know if these issues are with the narrator or with the print.
This was a fun fluffy audiobook. One that you can just have on and enjoy. The narrater was good, making it a nice listening experience.
3.5 stars
This book was given to me for free, by Audiobook Boom, at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
I enjoyed the story & liked the characters. What I had issues with is the repetitiveness of the internalization. Also, the narrator called Jonah, Jason a couple of times. And then when Jonah went into labor & was at the hospital/clinic after being checked in, what should have been said was "his labor flew by" , but it was referred to his "pregnancy flew by". Also, Grayson stated that he would see him in the delivery room & then when he walks in after Jonah has given birth, Jonah tells him to come meet your son, well weren't you in the delivery room? And when Grayson is feeding the baby, he refers to the "bottle" as "milk" instead of "bottle". So it could be just an American thing. Again, I enjoyed the story. Jonah is struggling to get his bakery off the ground after his Alpha abandons him. He also talked Jonah into taking out a loan from a loan shark & is struggling to keep up with the payments. On the way to a delivery, Jonah literally runs into Grayson with his bicycle. Grayson has been burned before, and he doesn't trust Jonah, or any Omega. Jonah doesn't trust Grayson, or any Alpha. We also see Jonah and the other Alpha's who left their prior pack, struggle as a new pack. We get to watch these two break down walls, learn to trust again and really heal each other. Even though I had issues with some things, I will be continuing on with this series.
I rec'd a copy of the audio from Audiobook Boom and this is my honest review.
After reading so many Mpreg/shifter novels I understand that each author wants to approach the genre differently than the next author. Some hit the mark and make things new and interesting, then we have have some who need a little more work developing their process.
I have read other books by this author and this one left me not understanding what went wrong with this one. Maybe the second book would have more cohesive ideas and the thought process not to hard to understand.
I was pleasantly surprised about how good this book is for me. I honestly enjoyed reading it. Jonah is an omega hare shifter and he runs a bakery. He is getting over his ex who is an alpha. Jonah’s alpha left him very suddenly. Then there is Grayson whose omega left him for another alpha and cost him his pack. So there are trust issues on each side. These two meet one day when Jonah collides with Grayson on his bicycle. The story gets more interesting from there. I even purchased the next book in this series.
Jonah Raine had to get to his bakery and start getting things ready. Instead, he laid in his bed, looking at the empty side where Hector used to be. Hector had been gone a month now. He had been cheating on Jonah but Jonah was too afraid to do anything about it. He still isn’t ready to start a new relationship, his only concern being to keep his bakery going. He had borrowed money from a bad Alpha loan shark and is in some trouble. Without Hector’s help, Jonah needed an assistant. But he didn’t have money to hire one. He finished Mrs. Maple’s fancy cake, but he was running late and had to get it to her by 8 a.m. He would have to power cycle to get it there – it was his number one priority! Racing to deliver the cake on time, he didn’t see the pedestrian in the street. He slammed his brakes hard, but nothing happened!
Grayson Mills felt like a failure. He moved his pack to his parents’ old house, but after 30 days, he had still not accomplished anything. His Omega, Rico, left him and now he couldn’t shift. Everything was going wrong for him. His little pack of 4 alphas, himself, Ryker, Cole, and Jax, didn’t get along well and he was lucky they didn’t rip out each other’s throats. Cole and Jax had just been in a bar fight and Grayson had to go bail them out. He debated taking the truck, but decided to walk so he would be calmer when he got to the police station. He heard the bike coming at him – did this Omega think he was going to just step out of his way? Grayson was an Alpha! Then the bike hit him. The Omega’s scent was enticing, even more than the normal unique pheromones that let Alphas and Betas identify them. Jonah should have been afraid of the grouchy Alpha wolf shifter, but he wasn’t for some reason. He explained the situation and called a ride for the Alpha who said to cancel it. The Alpha instead told Jonah to wait there and he would grab his truck so he could make his delivery on time! And it turned out he was old friends with Jonah’s customer. So when she didn’t want to pay for the cake because of a hardly noticeable smudge of icing, Grayson said he didn’t even see the imperfection, so she paid.
Jonah talked him into driving back to the bakery so he could feed him breakfast and care for his wounds. As they got to know each other, Grayson feels the need to protect the Omega; could he be his fated mate? Grayson is pretty sure that if he doesn’t pursue Jonah, he’ll regret it for the rest of his life. How does Jonah feel about Grayson, though?
He needs to learn to except help Jonah he’s got his dream of owning his own bakery that he opened with his ex partner but Hector left him after persuading him that it was okay to take out a loan from Alpha loan shark called Guy. And now as Jonah struggles to get the repayments Guy is making his presence known. Sending letters, graffiti on his shop window. Jonah doesn’t know what he’s going to do if you can’t make payment.
Alpha Grayson needed a new start when his Omega cheated on him with his pack leader. So he returns to his hometown and start his own pack with other Alpha's that decided to follow him. It was like breathing again in his old pack he was enforcer which involved hurting people and even worse. Now him and his pack mates work in security. As Grayson was walking to his truck he was run over by an Omega on a bike. This is not the start of the day he wanted, Well that was until he got a look at him. The omega was more worried about what was on his bike then actually running the Alpha over. The Omega wanted Grayson to go to hospital to check his injuries but he refused. Once Jonah explained he needed to make a delivery Grayson decided to help him. Grayson couldn’t believe the feelings he was having about this Omega in front of him and as he sits in his flat above the bakery Jonah rushing around to clean his wounds Grayson in a surprise when he actually asks the Omega out on a date. Jonah is quick to except. And gives him a bag of baked goods to take back to his pack mate. But can he start a relationship with Guy hanging over his head?? Can Jonah except help?? Can Grayson keep his urges to hurt Guy at bay or will you go all alpha?? There was just something very exciting about this book and I enjoyed the relationship that Grayson and Jonah had. A lot of give-and-take a lot of learning to lean on somebody and accept help. The passion was outstanding the banter was good fun I just really really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the other pack mate. I can tell already they each have a story coming their way.

Alpha Grayson Mills returns to his hometown to get his life together. He is also a pack leader to a three other alphas who followed him for a better life. Grayson is also escaping the heartache of losing his omega to his former pack alpha. As painful as it was, some things just aren't worth fighting for. Not only is he nursing a broken heart, he is also trying to keep a pack of only alphas from repeatedly getting into trouble and landing in jail. Without any omegas, that natural balance is missing and it shows. Deciding to get out for a while, he ends up getting hit by an omega on a bike. Talk about getting hit by the love of your life; your fate.
Omega Jonah Raine is struggling with so much baggage. After being left with a dangerous debt and worries by his former alpha, it is all he can do to keep his dream bakery alive and going. Swearing off a mate is the best way to keep his mind focused. How else can he pay off what is owed? Losing his business isn't an option. Besides, who would want an omega that owes money to a loan shark? Not bringing in enough money, he is forced to work alone every single day.
Not having reliable transportation, Jonah has to ride his bike to a client's house and deliver a cake. On the way, he runs into an alpha with his bike, and initially, things aren't exactly a warm and fuzzy welcome. Grayson's response isn't exactly sweet and kind either. Both men feel the initial attraction but are afraid to act on their natural impulses. To help Jonah out, Grayson drives him to his delivery and back to the bakery. He feels the sudden need to protect the omega. Jonah feels the pull and has so many internal conflicts because of his past and the current financial dilemma.
I absolutely loved that this book was much longer, yet I didn't want it to end. So excited to see what is next for the other three alphas, including Jonah's new found friend, fellow Omega Alan and one of the other three pack members -Alpha Cole.

This is the first book in the Shattered Pack series and I have to say that I absolutely loved it. Though I have to be honest, I have yet to be disappointed in a book by Fel Fern. They are always very well written, easy to read and enjoy. This story is about Grayson and Jonah. Grayson is an alpha pack leader to a group of 4 alphas. He returned home as he didn't really have a choice. It is not going as well as he hoped because with only 4 alphas in the pack, there is a lot of conflict, squabbles and fighting. He is trying to figure out how to smooth out the home life for everyone.
Jonah on the other hand is an omega baker. He moved here because he loved the area and wanted to be there. He is independent and smart. And due to his ex alpha leaving him in the lurch and in debt to a loan shark; Jonah is under a lot of stress. People keep disappointing him so he no longer has any faith that people will stay when the times get rough.
Grayson and Jonah meet when Jonah , out on a delivery with a special cake, accidentally runs him over with his bicycle that has been sabotaged. Grayson is snarly, unfriendly and a mean looking alpha. Jonah is the exact opposite. Grayson believes the glass is half empty while Jonah believes it is half full. Together they compliment each other perfectly. I loved how their relationship grew with time. Each learning the others strengths and weaknesses. They balanced each other out.
I really enjoyed this book. I can not wait for the other 3 alpha - Cole, Ryker and Jax to get their own stories. And Jonahs best friend Adam as well. I am looking forward to more books in this series.

Even grumps deserve love too. Jonah, Omega hstr was grieving Hector, Alpha's abandonment. Jonah, had fooled himself Hector was on team Jonah. Sadly, he subconsciously knew he wasn't. Hector, cheated on him. Jonah, was trying to buy Mae's old bakeshop.Hector, suggested Jonah borrow money from Guy, a loan shark. Jonah, knew it was a bad idea, but he was desperate. He was late, on his bike, rushing to make a delivery. Grayson, moved his friends, his fellow Alphas to Westford Hills to create a new pack. Gray, was nursing a broken heart after what he thought was his Omega, Rico. Rico, chose Rocky, the Alpha of Banemaws. Gray, was reflecting on Rico's faults, when he realized Jonah was riding toward him on his bike and didn't seem to be stopping. Jonah was wondering if someone tampered with the bike that was not breaking. So, Jonay and Gray met while carrying heavy baggage. Can they set it down in time to open up to each other? Will they share baggage load or set bags down completely? Gray unexpectedly feels protective, will he figure out why? These guys are juggling several issue balls. Will they catch them or drop them? Nice story. Good flow. Nice characters. Gray's pack sounds fun. Nicely done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Protecting Jonah is the first book in the Shattered Pack series by Fel Fern. This is the second series by Fel Fern that I have read, and I enjoyed this book just as much as I liked the books in the other series. I loved Grayson and Jonah. I loved how independent Jonah was and how hard it was for him to learn to rely on Grayson and his pack for help. His past relationship had taught him to be self-reliant after his ex ditched him and left him in debt to the loan shark, Guy. I also loved that he donated his unsold bakery goods to homeless shelters. Grayson was a great alpha. He and the rest of his pack work for a security firm as bodyguards. Grayson has just moved back to his hometown when he is run over by his mate, Jonah, while Jonah is making a delivery. I loved watching Grayson change from a grumpy head alpha to a happy alpha after meeting his mate. I can't wait to see who the other pack alphas, Cole, Ryker, and Jax, end up with. I'm hoping that the next book will be about Cole and Jonah's best friend, Alan.

This author has written a really wonderful, heartwarming Mpreg romance that has a truly interesting plot with a touch of humour. All the characters are quite unique with a good comradery between of them although each of them has an individual goal & a determination to succeed while going on an amazing journey of discovery. This story is about: a sweet male omega (Jonah Raine) struggling to make ends meet with his bakery, makes an error in judgement while riding his bike & runs down an alpha (Grayson Mills) that at that moment is not too impressed with Jonah & from here the story starts. There is: a conniving loan shark (Guy Rossi), a despicable ex (Hector), various kind of shifters, pack issues, alphas, omegas, mates, friendship, some twists, drama, some suspense, intrigue, threats, blackmail, anxiety, threats, danger, abduction, some violence, conflict, protectiveness, disagreements, compromises, surprises, some steam & a well-deserved happy conclusion. I am looking forward to future books involving the rest of the characters in this book.
Yep another story about guarding an Omega and I couldn't be happier. There are so many great books waiting to be read and I'm not even talking about the Christmas stories. Goofy job while funding my reading pleasure is keeping me from getting in all the reading I'd like to do.
An Omega Baker who is independent, alone, overworked, super stressed, with literally crippling debt. Trying his best but needing help that he can't afford. How had things gotten so bad just when he was living out his dream of had it become a nightmare?
I can think of some unique ways of meeting your fated mate but the way this Omega did it was hilarious. Four Alphas left their pack to form a new one but it's easier said than done. One very important component of a thriving pack is the inclusion of an Omega(s). Something this new pack is sorely lacking. When the Alphas finally welcome and begin to protect the Omega even more violence occurs. Don't worry though it ends in a HEA.
So, you ran your mate down with your bike. What's next?
What a perfect first book in a new series! This is a wondrous world inhabited by intriguing characters. There is a pack of Alphas in need of an omega to ground them; an omega baker trying to save his bakery; loyal friends: and a loan shark. While delivering a birthday cake, Jonah runs into his mate. Literally. He hits him with his bicycle. Grayson isn't hurt, but his wolf is intrigued by this omega that smells so-o good. Though their beginning started with a thump, it ends with a bang! HEA is assured. Come. Join Grayson & Jonah on their journey. Along the way they will face danger, learn to trust, have sexy times; and find out that protecting what you love is everything. Ooh, and there are bagels and breads and a baby. What's not to love! I can't wait for book two. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
First, I'm not a fan of "insta"-anything. Here there's insta-love between Grayson and Jonah, and insta-friendship between Jonah and Alan.
Second, the typos and poor grammar had me ready to DNF at about 20%, but I stuck if out.
Also, I must admit that I'd never heard of an "mpreg" story, so curiosity was a strong motivator for my reading this book. This left me even more confused and curious about the anatomy of an Omega. (They never explain how the baby was the born...or conceived, for that matter!). I didn't really care for the femininity of Jonah's character. I rarely read MM stories, but in the few I've read--and in some of the MMF books I've enjoyed--I've liked more masculine characters. Personal preference. Don't judge.
The best things about this book? Jax and Cole. They're hilarious! Even though I didn't really care for the writing in this book, I may give Cole and Alan's book a try.
I really get excited when Fel comes out with a new series. I absolutely love her alphas and omegas. This story was a delight. Jonah and Grayson road to romance was stressful at first. Both learning to trust again after difficult past relationships. That first meeting was indeed fate. Both were caught off guard on the attraction but I love how they balance each other. Jonah brought life back to Grayson and Grayson gives Jonah the comfort of home and the protection he needed. This story had me laughing and smiling...really enjoyable and a page turner. I love the pack brothers and can't wait to read their stories.

The story started out as just OK and got a little better after the halfway mark. I felt it hard to connect with Grayson and Jonah at times. I didn’t really feel their connection at the beginning either. I did like the secondary characters and can’t wait to hear/read their stories.
I enjoyed the narrator, but I wish he would have made the voices of each character a little more distinctive. A few times I had a hard time telling who was talking when it was more than two people in a scene.
I have to mention either the book or the narrator had some issues with using the wrong words and weird phrases. It wasn’t just once and at first, I thought I heard wrong so I had to stop the audio and re-listen.
Protecting Jonah is the start to a new series. Jonah, an omega and bakery shop owner, accidentally runs into Grayson, an alpha and leader of his pack, with his bike on the way to delivering a cake. Grayson actually helps Jonah out by giving him a ride in his truck to deliver the cake on time. This is a fun, sweet, mpreg, shifter story with some action as Jonah, Grayson, and friends deal with a bully. I love Jonah and Grayson together and can't wait to see what happens next with them, Alan, and the rest of the pack. I recommend this book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Both Grayson and Jonah's exes were bad news. Jonah is a spunky omega who is determined to succeed and pay his dues. Grayson is on the verge of losing control when he meets Jonah. Jonah and Grayson get together right away although Jonah needs reassurances that Grayson wants him. There is some drama with Guy who Jonah's ex recommended but Grayson and his pack take care of it when it goes too far. Jonah and Grayson are mated, happy and starting a family.
DNF @86% and I don't usually give books that I DNF a star rating, but this time I will. The story was simplistic and written without a lot of depth, passion, character building, or world building and had an entirely predictable plot... but it was still an OK read because I was in the mood for some shifters and am pretty sure I've read through all the good ones already 🤣 I quit at 86% because I'm 100% certain there's literally nothing to surprise or wow me in the last 14%. I may skim some of the other books in the series if I can't find something better to read 🤷♀️
This was a great new start to a new series! Loved Grayson and Jonah! Jonah had been cheated on and isn’t ready for a new relationship. Grayson is an Alpha who has returned to his hometown to keep his pack together. The author is fairly new to me, I’ve read one other story and enjoyed both of them equally. This was a really good story, well written. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The characters could have had so much more depth, but it was fun to read
So I was confused with this book. Yes, Jonah and Grayson were attracted to each other, but there was no indication of being ‘fated’ until Jonah suddenly thinks that it must be so. We have no indication that they actually are fated, and then they mated, so the question just disappears. What actually determines a fated pairing?
Jonah is used to having to do everything on his own, Grayson is trying to hold his pack together. Will they find healing in each other?
Have to say I loved how this rough Alpha became softer and a "better" Alpha when he allowed himself to fall. I didn't blame Jonah for struggling, BUT definitely thought that he should have told Grayson right away a couple of times. Steamy read!

I enjoyed Grayson’s and Jonah’s story it’s full of suspense, danger, drama, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. Two lonely souls an alpha and an omega who were burned badly by their ex’s find trust, compassion and love in each other, sorry guys no spoilers but this is a fantastic m/m story I loved it and I highly recommend this book.
I love the crazy way that Jonah and Grayson met and then fell for each other. The characters were intriguing and I appreciated the smooth pace of the story and how it never dragged with unnecessary details. The plot held my attention and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Wonderful.
4 stars. New author to me. I loved the story and the way the characters are depicted. Its not a new trope as shifters and mpreg romance are often sweet and without much angst. Its the case here. But I liked it enough to buy the next book in the series. Give it a try.
Jonah and Grayson have attraction and chemistry but they also have trust issues and past histories that cause some problems for them before they get their HEA. Interesting main and secondary characters but the story itself did not flow smoothly and it needs a fair amount of editing and proofreading.
This was a really good read but the editing. "the rest of the pregnancy passed by in a blur" but Jonah was still pregnant. Jonah said his "pregnancy" instead of labor. And Tyler has 1 parents eyes and nose and the other parents hair and eyes. It just threw me off. I really enjoyed the book and am starting book 2 now.
this was a 3 and a half stars for me. the plot was interesting and I loved the characters, main and side, but there were so many mistakes! Words in the wrong order, switching between past and present tense in the same sentences, and things like that. If those were fixed I would add a star to my rating.
