I won this a year or 2 ago on a Goodreads giveaway, at least I think I did. I know that I would not have bought this, so my assumption is that it was a giveaway. I went into this book with a bit of hesitation. The author is Charismatic/Pentecostal and although I line up with that myself, I feel that some authors that are similar get too much for me. Also knowing the authors background and my own experiences in a book about joy, there can be this feeling that if you are suffering (not joyful) you must be doing something wrong because God wants you joyful. Happily I did not find this author too be too much that way and he did talk some of suffering. This book did not work well for me though. I don't really know why. I know that it was a struggle to continue reading it, even without me disagreeing with the premise. I didn't find the writing bad but it wasn't overly fantastic either. For me it was an average book, nothing too great, nothing too bad.
This is a fantastic book! Roland Worton has very deep insight about joy and our relationship with God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I highly recommend the book for anyone, even those who aren't struggling with something that is taking their joy!
Everywhere I sought for the fulfillment of life. and did not know what, or where it was. It was not happiness, what I needed, but the Joy of God, in God Himself.
i won this in a Goodreads giveaway, or i might have found this on or through Bookbub, i am not recalling at the moment??! where does the brain go sometimes? i find it hard to pull that information out when you need it most. those folks who can do that are amazing. my brain ...i know when in school and i needed info it was not there for the test. now it is in that mind just not readily available at a moment's notice. Pentecostal Christianity. spiritual warfare. Christian spiritual warfare. came out November 17, 2020. this is not my denomination, but i don't believe u need to stick to one ...learning and growing in so important ...not sure how you are ...but i enjoy learning and it doesn't matter what style or such it is ... going in faith and learning about your religion is important throughout your life.
I found this book to be very insightful and enlightening. I like the way the chapters are set up, with steps to take at the end of each one. The author is extremely good at imparting his knowledge of the Bible and which passages to use to find and reclaim our joy.
The book is well written and insightful, but the printing is terrible. The many typos throughout the book was distracting. The publisher and printer can do better.
