As a professional baseball player, women have never been a challenge.
Until I met her.
Brunette. Beautiful. Vivacious.
Just as I'm ready to take my shot, my teammate jock blocks me.
Turns out he saw her first.
That was two years ago.
As luck would have it, our paths crossed again, and this time, I don't waste a second.
I want my chance.

Lark and Brenner's story first appeared in the limited release anthology Playing To Win. This novella has been revised with additional chapters.

International Bestselling Author and self-proclaimed french fry addict, Christy Pastore writes sexy, contemporary romance books that contain no nonsense (mostly) heroines and swoony gentleman with a naughty side.

Readers so overwhelmingly embraced one Wicked Gentleman, Jackson Hart specifically, turning many of her #AuthorGoals into a reality.

When Christy’s not turning her risqué thoughts into something worth reading, you’ll find her geeking out on all things pop culture, obsessively stalking Pinterest for home interior ideas, lunching with friends, or researching her next vacation destination.

She has strong opinions about folding laundry, fruity wines, the Oxford Comma, fashion, and mixed vegetables.

Christy lives in central Indiana with her husband and their three loveable cats, Cheeto, Dorito, and Brew. But as cute as they are, please send scratching posts asap because they’re slowly destroying the furniture.

Double Contact by Christy Pastore is a second chance, sports romance told in first person dual POV. The main characters are Lark, a professional beach volleyball player, and Brennan, a retired major league baseball player and sports commentator. These two have an instant attraction when they meet, but the timing is off. They're not single at the same time, so life goes on, and nothing happens between them.

They can't help thinking about each other from time to time, but years pass before they cross paths again. When they finally meet again, the only thing standing in their way is distance. Can they bridge the gap?

I've got a thing for sports romances, and I really enjoyed this story. If you're looking to heat up your eReader with a quick and dirty little read, I recommend it.

Quick sweet read.

Baseball, volleyball and love . Brenner thinks Lark can do so much more. Will she try or settle! It’s so much better with a side of confidence .

Novellas tend to be hit or miss. This one was a hit for me. I really enjoyed the quick, fun romance this one provided. It was exactly what I needed to break up the monotony of the books I've been reading lately.

I won't lie, like every novella I read, I wish this had been a full length novel. I enjoyed this one so much, I would've like to have had it drawn out some more. I adored the characters and their second-chance meeting, then budding romance.

If you're looking for a quickie romance that's totally on the sweet side, this one is definitely for you!

Authors note: Lark and Brenner's story first appeared in the limited release anthology Playing To Win. This novella has been revised with additional chapters.

Double Contact is a second chance, sports romance told in dual POV (which I love!)

Brenner Manning is a retired MLB player turned son-air sports commentator, while Lark Saddler is professional beach volleyball player who has her sights set on winning Olympic gold.

They met back in the day – but Lark was “dating” one of Brenner’s teammates at the time, and he was also in a relationship. Fast forward a few years and hello chemistry! I totally enjoyed this sweet/hot quick read between Lark and Brenner. You will be cheering for Lark and Brenner until the very end!

Also, if you are a Christy Pastore fan you will love all the hidden “easter eggs” placed throughout this story – like Cardwell Bourbon. Love how she pulls other characters/places in from her previous stories!

Fast, Easy read

I love reading sports books. Read a lot about baseball, football and even soccer but this was a first since it mentioned volleyball.

Christy Pastore gives us a fabulous second chance romance in Double Contact. I’ve been noticing heroines more lately and Lark does not disappoint! She knows her worth; is strong and feminine.
Brenner & Lark practically caught my Kindle on fire, I loved how they thought of each other first while still going over after their own goals!
Gold Medal read for sure!

Smexy sports romance . I'm a huge fan of baseball romances. I liked how the author had the heroine into sports as well. It was refreshing to read a volleyball romance.

I really enjoyed this story between Lark and Brenner. I know sometimes when you meet someone and have a connection, the timing could be all off. I like the possibilities of getting that second chance. I like that the roles that were given to Lark and Brenner were pretty much reversed in their later meeting. I also thought it was sweet that Brenner gave Lark a reason to reach deeper and that he believed that she had it in her to be more. I loved their multiple dates and their crazy hot chemistry. I'll admit it: I swooned.

Double Contact by Christy Pastore is a wonderful second chance romance between a professional baseball player and a beach volleyball player. Lark and Brenner’s romance is a perfect blend of friends, second-chances, bad choices, standing your ground, and life changing decisions. Author Christy Pastore has always been a favorite for me and I was thrilled to see she was part of the Playing to Win sports anthology, but has now released this solo! Super fun, quick read! Game-Set-Spike!!! 5 stars!

Second chance short story

Lark and Brenner have a second chance at a relationship. They first meet as Lark is dating a teammate of Brenner's. A chance encounter with each other has Lark changing directions in her life. A few years down the road, they meet again and Brenner decides to go after her. Can they get this second chance at love?
Cute fast paced short story that is a must read.

Loved Christy Pastore’s Double Contact. Super cute! Very sporty and fun. Just needed more! 🖤 I love sports romances books. I feel like they needed a bigger book though! It wasn’t enough because I really liked the characters and thought they were worthy of a longer story. 😉

This was a fast, fun, flirty novella. I enjoyed the baseball theme as well. I really prefer more detail, so I’m learning that novellas really aren’t my favorite, but this was cute.

I absolutely LOVE anything written by Christy, and Double Contact was just added to that list.

It’s short, sweet, and steamy in all the right places. Lark is a fierce volleyball player, and Brenner was a treat with his feminist views. Their chemistry is off the charts and I enjoyed reading their story.

Wasn’t quite what I expected.

From the reviews I read I thought this book would have more depth, even if it is a shorter read. The style of writing, along with the way in which the characters begin, wasn’t enough for me to give this book a better rating. Although super sweet how they end up together, the dialogue was lacking for me.
